I got some 357 revolver for my first gun, idk what model but it's a good gun. Just get any one
>>

PSA dagger, threaded, optics cut w/ microdot (wait for a combo special and get it for $400)
Herrington arms compensator blem ($70)
1000 rounds of AAC 15g ($250)

Use the remaining $80 to take your gf (or just yourself) out for a nice meal.
>>
>>61478648
Ok
>>
You should buy an $800 gun and then realize you have no ammo to shoot wit
>>
>>61478637
gon
>>
>>61478663
Yeh but then I have a gun!
>>
>>61478604
What would you use it for anon? Home defence, carrying (larp) or just having fun on the range shooting shit? Do you want it to be your only gun ever, or are you open to buying some serious heat if you end up liking guns and shooting?
>>
>>61478710
I want something cool and fun any benefit outside of that is a bonus.
>>
>>61478720
Then the answer is clear, it's ruger mark IV. It's cool as shit, it's very plesant to shoot, it will do great with teaching you fundamental pistol shooting, and pistol shooting is much harder and more technique-dependent that you think if you never had one before, you have to shoot hundreds of rounds to be a semi-decent shot. As a bonus, the ammo is dirt cheap, the cheapest there is. And this will not be a gun that will end up at the bottom of your drawer, you will come back to it if you buy fancier shit too. There are some downsides though
>it's not useless for self and home defence like some here think, but it's far from the best. This caliber is weak and, as i mention below, prone to jamming
>this kind of ammo is prone to jamming, you will have to clear a stuck case more often than with most ammo types. Not really dangerous or time consuming on a range, but can be a bit annoying. You would also have to clean and lube your gun a bit often i'm afraid
>some guys, like me, enjoy the "violent" part of shooting, meaning loud bang, bright flash, strong kick, and some guys don't. You will have none of it with this gun, which will help you preserve your hearing, focus on fundamentals and if you ever want to take your girlfriend/kid/elders shooting this will be a great gun to give them
>>
>>61478802
Thanks anon I’ll check that out! It looks like a modern Spanish astra

Taxation is theft
>>
>>61478933
How is it theft if I get money back hmm? If anything it’s a little bonus for wasting my salary.
>>
>>61478604
Get a PSA ar15 while you can and with the leftover money buy some ammunition

>lmao poverty tier

Anyone who says the following is a fed who tries to discourage people from buying accessible AR15s. they run great and I can atest to that.

You're getting some pretty horrific advice in this thread.
There are 3 reasonable options, broadly, which depend on your goals.
A. If you want to get good and get into shooting, get a basic 9mm handgun you could carry if you needed to: Beretta 92, CZ 75 variant, Glock 19 or 17, or any clone of any of these guns. All of those will be fine and can last a lifetime. Handgun training has far more carryover to rifles than the reverse, so doing this will enable you to build a foundation.
B. If you just want to protect yourself/your family and don't want to practice, get a cheap 556 AR.
C. If you just want to have fun, there's no use asking for advice until you've narrowed it down to a few candidates, that's a personal/aesthetic thing. Do not get a gun in a caliber other than 556 or 9mm unless you're consciously going with this option.

>cheap 556 AR.
Or he can get a milspec rifle that'll serve him a lifetime.

Not sure if serious

If Tyrone steals my wallet and gives me $800 bucks back is it really stealing?

a Taurus TX22 Competition.
absolutely fantastic gun, though I don't imply that applies to other Taurus offering.
don't get an AR, they aren't fun enough to get you to the range regularly as you'd start out.
>>
>>61479241
People here shill .22 a lot, but it really isn't like shooting a real gun.
If you have ever in your life shot a real gun, it will not scratch the itch. It's fun, but it's not the same kind of thing.
Even when I take girls out shooting, they don't really want to shoot the 22's after they get the point. It will teach you nothing about shooting you couldn't learn in dry fire.
>>
>>61479275
I've said it before and i'll say it again, airlarp is a better training tool than .22
>>
>>61479275
It's true I haven't shot my 10/22 in probably 5 years

Extremely true

What kind of idiot carries over a grand?
>>
>>61478604
Your first gun should always be a pistol imo.
They're almost as good for home defense as a rifle or shotgun (yes, theoretically a rifle is a better weapon but in practice anything that goes 'bang' will be enough for 90% of scenarios you'll find yourself in) and they give you the option to conceal carry (even if you don't plan on carrying regularly it's worth having the option if your town gets hit by a hurricane or bout of peaceful protestors).

If you want the most practical option, get S&W M&P or PSA Dagger in a carryable size. You could get a Glock but frankly the M&P is a better gun and the PSA is a Glock but cheaper.
You've said you're not all that interested in practicality though so feel free to get whatever pistol catches your fancy. Maybe that's a revolver, maybe a Beretta, whatever.
>>
Glock 19, good sights, ammo. end of discussion.
>>
>>61478604
unironically get a .22 pistol (i'm a fan of the ruger mk4) and/or a .22 rifle (a ruger 10/22 would be more classic or a s&w 15-22 would be more modern) and as much ammo as you can afford and shoot them a bunch

/thread
OP go with a M&P 2.0 Compact in 9mm. It'll be similar to the Glock 19 but a bit cheaper and it won't come with those fucking dogshit stock plastic irons that Glocks come with. Don't listen to the retards ITT shilling a .22 as your first gun. They're boring to shoot and you'll want something more substantial and reliable if a 13%er breaks in.
>>
>>61478604
revolver
>>
>>61480689
If you get a revolver get an older .357 in nice shape. Modern ones come with internal locks and (at least for S&W) are made with cheap MIM parts.

>>61478604
Ruger 10/22 with a Vortex red dot. Then buy one box of ammo with every paycheck

>I’m noguns
>$800

This >>61478622 (or Hololsun) 200 rounds, 5-7 mags, sling, Ballistol. Fuck forward assist.

Or,

A 10/22 + a 9mm compact model glock (and a red dot)

If you intend to hunt and are in a straight walled cartridge state then maybe a lever gun could be justifiably practical and fun.
>>
>>61478604
Milsurp. Not an AR-15, Glock, or magnum
