>double-layer net coveringWhat are we calling this one, and how effective would it be?Video from here:https://t.me/russianocontext/2873
The Spider's Nest
Effective, but it's likely heavy and will wear down the transmission faster than expected.
>>61483521cope coop MKII
>>61483531Do you notice that it's on a tank chassis and that there is no turret. Do you think some wire fence weighs more than a tank turret? Are you retarded?
>>61483547>near miss scorches the hullHmm roasted chicken
>>61483572The narrator calls it an MT-LB "M" although I can't tell if he's proud or being sarcastic.I think he means to imply this ugly ass net held up by a stick is what makes it "Modernizatsiy"
>>61483531>EffectiveWhat does 2 nets give you that 1 does not?I mean, the only thing a net can stop is a grenade drop, right?
>>61483529spidor's nest

>>61483521wait until they start doing this to the chinese golfcarts once their museums run out of antique tanks to restore
>>61483677>private pavel, where is cage door support log>commander sell log to shoigu
>>61483688>once their museums run out of antique tanks to restoreI looked at the numbers today, +1 Tank kill, and I think +12? IFV. Loads of 'other' vehicles.I'm starting to think either they're out of tanks, or trying to build some up for an offensive.
>>61483724I think they're trying to build some up for an offensive as well. Though, as like as not, they're going to blow their load too early and get slaughtered again.
>>61483724>>61483734Chasiv Yar
>>61483724Wait I thought they were withdrawing IFVs and using tanks to deliver troops as a substitute. What the actual fuck is going on?
>>61483521It’s not a net, it’s a trampoline. NAFO missiles bounce right off, completely harmlessly. Yet again the west is BTFO by the Russian arms industry.
>>61483761They load up everything. Everything is a personnel carrier.
>>61483766https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cT3xwNj15g
>>61483760A good shout. I believe they wanted to capture it by early May. 9th?
>>61483777Right but the assumption last week was that the IFV losses were taking their toll and the Russians started trying to save them up for the offensive. Now that aid was approved a sudden increase in IFV losses in relation to tanks could mean it's happening.
>>61483786But of course. Will it happen? Doesn't look like it.Not enough chatter about pressure.
>>61483521Cope canopy.
>>61483784Exactly. Don’t ask me how, but I can tell you firsthand that their next gen active protection system will be way better and nato has nothing like it. Imagine a robotic arm with a catchers mitt that slings projectiles right back at the enemy.Because that’s why the T14 isn’t in the field yet. They’re being equipped with it. Two more weeks.
Turtles are cooler.
>>61483791Then perhaps they're saving tanks and IFV's for the parade. It was a little bit sad last year....;-D
Seems like that would burn really well
What does this do?`Turns the hand grenades to airburst grenades against the ziggers riding on top?
>>61483714>>commander sell log to shoiguSHOIGUUUUUUWHERE ARE THE LOGS?LOOK! SEE WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!
>>61483826>trapped in a mesh cage of fireThey’ve already done this lol
>>61483521We're entering into a really strange era of tank armor and general military tactics. Mass-produced drones are a complete game changer, and every future weapon or armor developed will have to take them into account in their design. They completely invalidate all current APS systems because they're flying well below the speed required to trigger the system.Stuff like the two layer net tent in OP's video is clearly meant to counter drones with contact-fuse munitions, of which seems to be the most common, inexpensive weapon mounted on them. It probably works pretty well, but obviously the counter to such measures is to modify warheads to have an electronic detonator, but that will take time to implement so in the meantime the net armor will be effective.
>>61483521paint it red and add some spikes and you've got an ork vehicle from 40k
>>61483531>EffectiveShut the fuck up, imbecile. Shut your goddamn whore mouth, you retarded, attention whoring piece of shit.

>>61483766Mine eyes have seen the glory of the trampoline at the Zoo
>>61483869I've always wondered what the fuck are these demented, scatterbrained attempts at justifying the cope cages, nets, etc. that are always posted. Is it some glavset cock foaming at the mouth, scrambling to do damage control? Is it a single fucking idiot retard trying to get attention? I don't get it. If it's just a joke, work on your routine.
>>61483897It’s too long you retard
>>61483912What do you think the armor is meant for, then? You're clearly passionate about this, state your case.
>>61483869> that will take time to implement Haven't you seen the videos with a fucking coat hangers as the trigger?
>>61483837Lest we forget
>>61484189>Ahhhh! It burns! The cage, it does nothing!
>>61483813Here's hoping there will be good attendance, especially by visitors from far away
>>61483912It's the drone-loving nerds that are fixated on them because it appeals to their nerd bullshit love for eletronics and robotics.>>61484189Seems like these bullshit attempts at SLAT armor are very effective as we can see...Also where BTR-40 and BTR-152 and PT-76?
>>61483622got a chuckle out of me
>>61483521>What are we calling this onePetuk pen
>>61483531>nets everywhereyeah lets see this thing drive around in a treeline
>>61483521I feel bad for the guys that are going to be clawing at that netting while ontop of a burning MTLB.
>>61483813That's exactly the sort of decision a strongman might make.
>>61483964>Be tanker>Anti-tank weapon scary>Put a bunch of ineffective shit on top of tank>No longer scared
>>61483572It's a wide track model MT-LB. The wide tracks throw off the typical MT-LB look, but it an available variation. If you pay close attention as the cameraman gets close to the front you can see the typical stubby blunt cone-shaped MT-LB machine gun turret, and the rear has the MT-LB's simple, flat double doors.
>>61484832While that's part of it your pic doesn't tell the whole story.Sandbags aren't going to do shit against the high velocity AP shells that killed the vast majority of tanks in WW2.A cyclone fence net is functionally identical to the anti-rpg nets that have been used for the last 2 decades and work against drone mounted RPG warheads.
>>61483521against drones?probably pretty effective against rpg? heh... no
>>61483813Why? Did they run out of T34’s? Lmao that shit was embarrassing.

>>61483521>What are we calling this oneTHE Coperpillar
>>61483883Why are you so mad?Every inch of airgap from drone explosions reduces effectiveness.
>>61483870Or Chaos, which is just as fitting given the subtle Khornate nature of the meatwaves.>tfw you are ordered into the assault and have to ride one of the possessed MT-LBs

>>61483529>The Spider's Nest if you poke it with a stick, all the small spiders come out
>>61483531>EffectiveNot at all retard.>but it's likely heavy and will wear down the transmission faster than expected. It's very light retard.
>>61483521it reminds me of the time I used to collect tent caterpillars
>>61483622Underrated
>>61484869They don't though? They work against some drones like lancets but thats pretty much it... And SLAT armor is you know actually armored.>>61485040Depending on how hard the fence is I imagine the drones could explode. In which case the drone doesn't blow you up but you have to deal with having a RPG HEAT round explode aimed at your 1960s vintage MT-LB
>>61483521The Cocoon
>>61483819For once he didn't lie
>>61483915Tramp/Ling at the zoo5 syllables, just have to compress a bit.
You can't get inside/out and you can't sit on top, what the fuck is the point? I don't understand.
>>61483622kek
>>61483521>double-layerThe cope matryoshka.
I am curious about the double net concept. A net with a decent standoff would stop the typical grenade-drop attack, and may mess up a RPG-drone attack. Does the second layer of netting do something extra? Maybe having two nets is more likely to stop an RPG7-drone from hitting the hull? Ie, just one net may foul the drone but thanks to weight and inertia it still managed to contact the hull but with two that’s a lot less likely?
>>61483521Thinking purely in the context of suicide drones, I think it'll work great. In the context of everything else about it, it's absolutely hilarious. My first thought was "what happens if it gets caught in the tracks" and then I kept thinking and there are countless ways this could go wrong, not to mention it won't do a fucking thing against projectiles.
hope we will find out the fate of this
belt and suspenders
>>61483884I read that in his voice.rip
>>61483521>how effective would it be?It will contain all the macaroni within the netting, thus saving the crew's future meals.
I was going to post this in the turtle tank thread, anons, but they're so afraid of drones. They're so fucking afraid of drones, anons. There's no other reason why the puccians would spend so much time and effort on all these whacky countermeasures.
>>61499073They should be afraid, there's millions of dollars being raised by ordinary people in countries to fund their manufacture by the tens of thousands. Going rate, Mr Buzzyboi is going to come and visit every orc in the field, taking a shit or hiding in his hole and light the filthy cunt up
>>61495680while the crew is turned into minced meat
>>61483531Effective at trapping the crew.
>>61499611Pre-cubed for your convenience
>>61483531>Effective
>>61483521>how effective would it be?Completely stops FPVs and done dropped munitions. Doesn't stop ATGMs , mortars or artillery.
>>61499642Not sure if it stops it that well either. There's footage of FPV drones hitting vehicles covered in nets like this.

>>61505581Not really Russia's fault abrams and challenger-2 tanks all run away after seeing 1 day of real combat.

>>61483622Lmao
>>61483521As much as I like mocking the Russian cope-cage, I was only mocking them because a Net-kit should have been the first thing they mass produce.I suspected Ukraine didn't need them because Russia couldn't make drones worth a shit.Seriously, I write science-fiction and I saw pretty much everything coming.- Air-Denial being the most important, literally cancel air-combat- Artillery no longer being slow as fuck inefficient shooting blind but precision shot to the meter with counter-battery shot 1 minutes later.- small drones with consumers electronic making everyone able to see everything- helicopter dropping like flies and only good for quick action on poorly defended target- needing lot of anti-drones swarms turrets with AI targeting so you can shoot them down cheaply- Battle tanks going obsolete because artillery now provide precise-shot on demand with less risk of losing the costly vehicle- that and winning the war by brainwashing your enemy's population with memes. They should just hire me.I still don't expect mecha but that's only because we don't have the tech and it would take decades making one
>>61483521>already seen the foxconn suicide netthis one is the cyka net
it's a wrap
>>61484832You just know this is how NERA was discovered. Someone put spare track as add on armor and miraculously sometimes it worked relly well and sometimes it didn't. It must have been tested after the war where rubber lined spaced armor was developed.
>>61512071I remember reading a russian sci-fi writer’s short story. It’s about a mobik in an artillery crew employing the shoot and scoot tactic. Counter battery fire would always arrive in the exact time it took for them to hit the target and it would always carry the exact same payload. The reveal at the end is that the civilised world got so tired of non-Russia’s shit that they just put a repelling force field that bounced their own ammo back at them around their border and left not-Russia to it’s own devices.
