There is no reason to carry anything other than a Glock 19.
>>
The Glock 45 has rendered the G19 obsolete and buckbroken.

The G43x for when u need a smol boi with G19 capacity
The G19 is finished old man the Glock 45 is king

>>61570910
I picked a G45 (MOS, threaded barrel) because G19's grip was too small. But I now believe I fucked up : G45 is harder to CC, and I could just use +2 extendos and cool factor comp on a basic used G19 for home defense and range fun, keeping it stock for CC. I dont know. I kinda believe it's either G19 (+ addons if needed) or G34+G26.

Pragmatically I would say no. The cost-benefit is just soo awesome. However, I would always advise that if you can its better to carry a DA-SA just for the extra level of safety.

I got a USP9 for my first pistol (and now suppressor host) and a USP Compact for my CCW. I was considering getting a 19 and a 17 with the same idea in mind but now I'm eying the 45. Money isn't an issue, I just want solid bomb proof tupperware. What should I get and why?

Carrying sure but those who believe their G19 or G45 are actually concealed to any meaningful degree are deliding themselves. G19's& G45's always pring and they're not as comfortable to carry as slimmer/narrower options like the 43x or P365

357sig is cool and I wish that it wasn't the case, but it's a dying round. It did have that last hurrah after that boomer blew that Texas church shooter's head off though. I'd say that about as good of a send off as a round can get. 45s dont really have a place when 10mm is an option. 45s, unlike the 357sig, just insist that they are still relevant when they really aren't anymore. 357sig had a party, then quietly went on hospice while the 45s are taking chemo and every experimental drug that they can take in a desperate attempt to stay afloat.
>>
>>61574742
I don’t care. I can still buy them and have enough for a lifetime or Shtf. 9mm is just too weak as shown time and time again to reliably stop someone. If you have anything but a small compact that can carry something more powerful than 9mm then you should.

Always have to remind myself that G19 carriers are the guys who legitimately think they're going to find themselves in a John Wick scenario where they need n+1 rounds because they're definitely going to find themselves attacked by multiple heavily armed assailants who are determined to be in a shootout and definitely won't scatter at the sound of one gunshot

Asking here because there doesn't seem to be a good thread for it.

9mm pistol or 12GA shotgun for home defense, which does /k/ prefer?

it's called planning for the worst, watch any police bodycam and see how bad pistols are at killing people. You could assume that any threat you'll see will be magically warded off by the presence of a gun, or you can carry enough ammunition to be actually able to defend your life. It's not really that much more weight or discomfort.

Pay attention to crime trends of South Africa as what will happen in the United States. We are already seeing criminals use cell/gps jammers.
https://ktla.com/news/local-news/police-warn-of-thieves-using-wifi-jamming-tech-to-disarm-cameras-alarms/
https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/komando/2024/02/29/thieves-using-wifi-jammer/72758559007/

Now you won't be even able to call 911.

>>61576003
Both. you need to have options IMO. A 12 gauge will kill people dead, easier to aim due to having a stock, but depending on where you live may be too unwieldly to use indoors.
>>
>>61575966
I mean some people carry an extra mag because most malfunctions that aren't user induced are caused by the mag. If your gun starts jamming, swap it out with your spare.
>>
>>61576003
I have several options at the ready, but my bedside gun is a Benelli M4. I'm not taking any chances. Hearing be damned, if someone kicks down my door, I want the biggest hole in them I can make
>>
>>61576003
I would grab the 12 gauge before the pistol. That's for damn sure. Unless it is a single shot, you are better armed with a shotgun than any handgun. Then again, I may have the handgun on me. In all likelihood, if someone broke into my house, I would shoot them with my 38 special because I always have it in my pocket. If something was about to happen, you know damn well that I would go get the 12 gauge if I had the time to spare.
>>
>>61575966
In gunfights you can accidentally press the mag release button due to the adrenaline. I'm not going to expect that mag will land somewhere I can quickly grab it, I'll likely kick it while running, or it breaks. It's not all about the extra 19 rounds, more about having another mag.

What if the gun fight takes place on the street, and I accidentally release the mag and it goes down a sewer drain, or I cant find it in the grass? Seems like a no brainer to me.
>>
>>61576114
Also

The flashlight is more uncomfortable to carry on my gun than the mag is, but I don't think you'd ask me why I'm carrying a gun with a flash light on it.
>>
>>61576080
Don’t use a gun that requires a mag

>watch any police bodycam and see how bad pistols are at killing people

It doesn't really matter what jokes you make anon, a Glock is a liability. Throw it in the recycling bin.
>>
But if you carry a Glock, How will you differentiate yourself from all your gun buddies on the internet? How will they know that you are better than them and have superior taste?
>>
>>61577548
Because your gun won't jam. This is literally about function not form. They are jamming left and right and it's not user error. Address this realistically, sell your Glocks to niggers where they belong.
>>
>>61577799

Watch police shooting videos which are the actual best metric for testing what a gun will actually do in a gunfight. Glocks jam in them like a third of the time and this is not a training issue, Glocks are known to be easily able to induce a jam just for the lulz which people have done in review videos often. It seems the chaotic motion involved in actual gunfight induces these jams. The same does not happen for M&P and Sigs that I've seen. Certainly not at as high of a rate if you are able to cherrypick and exception. As for my example, try to get through 10 videos on Police Activity youtube page without seeing around 3 Glocks jamming... it's that bad.
>>
>>61577894
>Glocks are known to be easily able to induce a jam just for the lulz

I dunno man I'm a wristlet and like I said, even one handed and fucking around I couldn't make it jam. The guy even says:
>I cannot cause a g19 to malfunction, unless I'm purposely trying to induce that malfunction
What does this even say about those cop videos?
>>
>>61576467
I actually do carry a revolver. I have a J frame in a pocket at almost all times. If I have a more capable gun on my hip, I swap the J frame for my NAA Black Widow. I always have a revolver on me.
>>
>>61576573
I like plastic pistols and I feel the same. My local range/store has like 20 long guns on a wall and then all the pistol cases are full of Every flavor Glock they can get, lots of Sigs, and then a few random other plastic fantastic with like 1 or 2 revolvers and an overpriced 1911.

Their range rentals are even worse. Almost all 9mms, almost all Glocks. No subcompact guns other than a Glock 43, 1 revolver, a couple 1911s, and a few machine guns.
>>
>>61577548
You can shoot smaller groups at longer ranges.
>>
>>61576573
I wonder if the market wants such guns or the market buys it because it's the only guns offered
>>
>>61578012
They're in actual gunfights with motion and in most I can't see anything obvious being done wrong. Your bias towards the brand is clouding your ability to judge this issue objectively. The guns are not functioning properly in the one situation where it could cost life. I know you bought this gun and tricked it out, maybe you bought a few, but you have to admit they're pieces of shit.

I used to be a Toyota guy until I had a series of bad experiences with their newer garbage. I no longer fanboy for them and won't buy one again, I have no brand loyalty when all companies are doing is making everything cheaper and shittier. Maybe Glocks used to be good but they aren't anymore and the recorded evidence for that continues to grow. You need to find a better brand.
>>
>>61578539
The manufacturers are seeing how cheap they can make things and have retarded consoomers still buy them. They switched most triggers to plastic now ffs.
>>
>>61578583
I don't have brand loyalty, I'm only allowed 1 handgun for self defense so it needs to tick all the boxes - light enough to carry all the time, at least 15 rounds (if I do draw I'll probably be up against at least 3 people), reliable - which in my experience it is, parts availability, and also I want at least 4" of barrel.
I also don't really have the opportunity to try out different handguns, so I have to make a purchase before I even get to fire it.
All the "not a glock"s don't seem to offer any actual improvement which wins out over reliability and availability, and I'm not carrying a steel frame in my pants.
>>
>>61571464
I luv me 45. Slap a flashlight on it and it acts as a counterweight. Added with the fullsized grip and less slide jumping back and there's no recoil.
>>
>>61579067
Misinformed purchase based on not knowing the superior options then. The M&P is rounded in areas that make it more streamlined to carry, it doesn't print like a brick, and it's reliability is superior to the Glock's. The P365 series has 15 round options that are even more slim for carry.
>>
>>61570894

>>
>>61577859
Shield Arms makes 15 round flush fit mags for the G43x and G48. I've got a few, they're great. Glock needs to get with the fucking times and stop putting all that polymer around their mags so there can actually be some usable volume in there but they're dumb faggots stuck in the past and they don't know how to innovate anymore.
>>
>>61582086
What is to yoomers and zoomers?
>>
>>61582092
They don't want to innovate, they don't have to. They'll still sell millions of units if their pieces of shit based on brandfagging alone. There are better versions made by other brands that function better, there already are improved Glocks so just buy those.

I carried my 19 for a bunch of years. Still have it. No desire to ever sell it, but would for the right price. When I decided to try something new for edc I got a 43x and a P365XL figuring I would sell the one I didn't like. I kept the P365XL.
