does anyone know if any american swat teams used the MP5 prior to 1983?

genuinely curious cause ive been interested in what gear theyve been using between 1980-83 and i was genuinely curious about the mp5, but finding good evidence is hard

seattle seems close, though

Check out film footage from the riots in the mid to late 1970s. Tons of cops still had WW2 era guns so probably only the bigger cities had cool new gear
>also those SWAT cops look less hostile than the average traffic patrol cop does

>everyone has a silenced mp5
>one guy has a .308 with a scope, obviously for shooting from some distance
>that one guy with a fucking 14-16" HK 91 with a flashlight on top for CQB
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My dad was ESU in Nassau County NY in the 70s and 80s. They had Thompsons, Ithaca 37s and M1 Carbines. He was also allowed to carry a 1911 while patrol officers had K frame 38s.
