If someone can provide me a video of a Abrams turret tossing I will give btc or send to their cashapp.

If you cant prove this. Please instead discuss the effectiveness of blowout panels on tanks.

>Please instead discuss the effectiveness of blowout panels on tanks.
by US own admission, its <50% from front or side penetration
it is less effective from rear engagements since an enemy round will penetrate the rear bustle and then the blast door or if the crew accidentally leaves the blast door open, usually reduces effectiveness to below 30%

harder to measure, but the ammo just being in the turret bustle makes it safer in the first place
since any enemy will be aiming center-of-mass
with hull storage, thats pretty much a guaranteed ammo rack hit
>>
>>61585568
Even with a penetration from the rear the blowout panel will still prevent a toss. It's still a K-kill but not spectacular
>inb4 one of those pics of a JDAMd Abrams

not how that works
>>

Oh.
Oh.
That’s going to bother me for the rest of my life

leaving the blast door open basically negates the blow out panel entirely, with 100% chance of kill at all side angles if left open

with the blast door closed, worse case angle is directly from the side
likely due to oncoming rounds being able to ignite all the rounds in the bustle at once
>>
>>61585643
>leaving the blast door open
anon, you realize the door is hydraulically operated by the loader and is, doctrinally, only open for the period needed to interact with the ammo, right???
>>
>>61585712
I could see soldiers rigging it always open in the field if it breaks down so they can keep fighting. Things like that happen in war to keep readiness up. But really this applies to just shit luck and getting hit while grabbing a reload.
>>
>>61585643
anon... that's not the point. the blast door being open is a goal post moving scenario because it's more likely to be closed. You can't just accidentally leave it open. In fact one common fears the crew has is getting an arm or hand stuck as it closes because it's gonna close whether they like it or not.
>>
>>61585738
holy fucking shit are you 12?
>>
>>61585778
no that sounds like a Russian to me
>>
>>61585738
thanks for identifying as a FUCKING RETARD.

Anon, this is a damage model used in a 1988 DARPA wargame
>>
>>61585738
>If we intentionally sabotage the tank it's more likely to be killed

Why don't we give the crew seat cushions full of plastique while we're at it? And we can jerry-rig some wet ammo storage with leftover napalm.
>>
>>61586005
that anon's an autist, which is why he's not accounting for the most important thing in the military: an nco who generally knows a bit about things, but really knows a lot about this one particular thing because it's a huge deal, and who will fuck you into the 9th dimension if he catches you doing it.

it's like asking

>why can't i just point my gun wherever? i'm not going to shoot anyone
>why can't i look down the barrel if i think i have a squib?
>why do i have to request permission before firing on a vehicle coming up to a checkpoint unless i have specific orders to do so?
>why do i have to bother with this crypto stuff on my radio? why do i have to maintain radio silence?
>why do i have to tediously get my camo set up?
>why do i have to do all this maintenance on my gun/vehicle/other?

there's a very good reason for all of these things but considering you're a dumbass 19 year old, the best reason is what's going to happen to you if you don't do them.
>>
>>61585549
Abrams won't turret toss because it has zero hull ammo. Even without the blowout panels the blast would go forwards into the crew compartment and then down dispersing its energy instead of mostly straight up like if hull (especially carousel autoloader which surrounds the turret ring) ammo is detonated.

>Abrams won't turret toss because it has zero hull ammo.
yes it does, anon.
>>
>>61586017
>but considering you're a dumbass 19 year old
Ironically, that's the exact demographic your aforementioned NCO will be watching to ensure this doesn't happen.
>>
Are you Rusnigs seriously having a cope thread about your tanks vaporizing everyone but the driver 100% of the time when penned? lol
>>
>>61585549

- Panels are part of a tank
- Abrams is a Gayrapean tank
- Gayrapeans have no shells
- A tank without shells is useless
------------------------
Conclusion: Panels are useless

Wait, I thought Ukraine was the one with shortages, and now you’re saying Russia is?

Admiral Beatty is training abrams crews now I guess.

For some reason I still can't see it - is it the way the canopies are sorta tilted to the right?
If yes, why are they like that?

helicopters produce naturally asymmetrical lift because when a rotor blade advances, its airspeed is higher than when it retreats

it's not the canopies that are tilted to the right, it's the rest of the helicopter which is tilted to the left

the top canopy looks asymmetrical too
>>
>>61586017
And yet despite the blindingly obvious risks of doing all these things, those NCOs are constantly having to stop dipshits from doing them. There is nothing so stupid that someone in the military has not done it.
>>
>>61585549
I think an abrams is a bit more than $15, pal. Probably even 30 bucks, maybe even more.
>>
>>61586045
the hull ammo is also protected but blowout panels that vent underneath the tank

Tank is "Armor Ghetto", loss was 10/28/2003. Yes it was to an IED, no you did not specify that IEDs don't count ;^)
Turret flew about 50 yards.
>>

damn. IED must have ripped right through the bottom then
pay up, OP.

OP specified "video", however.

wait until you find out that because of the torsion bar suspension, the road wheels on either side are offset from each other
