Can these types of planes defend themselves against let's say a F-15/F-16/Migs coming to intercept them? If not, aren't they obsolete for today's warfare?
>>

Yes?

Do you think the Sidewinders are there for looks?
>>
>>61586463
But they're subsonic? What are the odds they shoot down a fighter if they encounter one during their close air support mission.
>>
Unlike warturd you only use those if you have complete air superiority.
Is it so difficult to understand that?
>>
>>61586441
No, but there is this secret tactic called "escort fighters" that you should look into.

>But they're subsonic?
This wasn't a problem for the harriers.

>frogfoot
IRL they're literally only ever equipped with dumb rocket pods. So no, they're the ultimate shitbox. Highly vulnerable to AA, even MANPADS, and other planes. I wouldn't be surprised if a F-35 could OTH mog the entire remaining functional stock of frogfeet

>missile truck cannot defend itself from fighter designed to kill it...
im in shock.
why live? we will all die eventually anyway...
>>
>>61586463
Now let's see how that sidewinder helps it when it has a meteor screaming towards it with the launch aircraft being 100km away going in the opposite direction.

Yes and?

>The Iran–Iraq War also saw the worlds only confirmed helicopter dogfights, with Iranian Army Aviation's AH-1J Internationals (usually the TOW-capable ones) entering combat mostly against Iraqi Army Air Corps' Mil Mi-24 Hind gunships and HOT-armed Aérospatiale Gazelles. The Hinds proved faster and more robust, while the AH-1Js were more agile. The results of the skirmishes are disputed. There were also engagements between Iranian AH-1Js and Iraqi fixed-wing aircraft: using their 20 mm cannon, the AH-1Js scored three confirmed kills against MiG-21s, claimed an Su-20, and shared in the destruction of a MiG-23.

That is why you have other airplanes in the airforce called "fighters"
>>

A-10 doesn't have a radar.
>>
>>61586441
A-10's have only managed to shoot down a couple of helicopters in combat.
>>
>>61586441
Fighters are not supposed to intercept cas planes
>>
>>61588839
I meant russian operated ones and also that's clearly just a display piece

...right?
>>
>>61586441
have helicopters replaced attack aircraft?
>>
>>61589232
No, they're too slow.
