I liked the WC 1911s that I've handled. Better than Nighthawk imo. The round count is abysmal especially for the size. Not really worth it as a cc piece, many options with higher capacity and triggers that are not as good but good enough.
>>
>>61587506
Actually just looked again, must have been looking at an old model or something with a similar name. Capacity seems fine, so seems like a good option.

SO, I've got off the phone with Springfield Armory and they told me there should be NO PLAY on the front of that magwell kit, I've received a defective magwell funnel and they're sending me a new magwell funnel and vertical pin.
I'm hoping my experience/pain is helpful towards /hg/ and other XDM/XDM-Elite owners because if you guys ever come across someone else with the same issue, I'm the first and I'VE GOOGLED FOR HOURS with ZERO results popping up with my same issue.

I was googling them yesterday, and apparently the small components are still made in Slovenia, but the large parts like the frame/slide/barrel are made in Dallas. They're trying to wean themselves off of the Slovenian parts and make everything in America, but that's still several months away.

My apologizes for the poor camera quality, hopefully everyone can see what I'm demonstrating. Yeah, I'm using grip no. 1 and it won't even seat into place. I could attempt to force into place, but that would just stretch it's butthole where the vertical pin would go.

Ok yeah, for $64 this kit came with 3 backstraps (which my gun already came with and they're basically useless I never use them lol), the magwell, and a spare mag.

$64 dollars definitely would've best spent on something else in far better quality. Again, I was hoping to use this only to protect the bottom to prevent what happened in pic rel.

Guys please help me explain to my autistic fren why cleaning your handgun with WD-40 and an old t-shirt is a bad idea
>>
>>61587970
It's been used in many movies and video games for decades. It's a cool gun. Just massively overpriced because H&K knows they can get away with it. I would probably buy one at $500 but it's over $1000 which is full retard.
>>
>>61587982
lmfao
>>
>>61588000
but it's not
>>
>>61588000
WD-40 as the acronym implies, stands for Water Displacement. Its not a lubricant and worst part of all, it deteriorates plastic. The old t-shirt, it depends on the material of said t-shirt. If its a 100% polyester and/or any waterproof material shirt, hes only smothering whatever hes trying to clean.
>inb4 you can still scoop with a 100% polyester and/or waterproof material made shirt.

Any left over WD-40 residue will get sticky and gunky with a little time. It’s ok for an initial gunk blast, but you want to follow up with another oil for sure.

Interesting. That's like S&W and Magnum Research were doing with the Walther P99, making a couple of large components in house with everything else coming from Walther.

>>61588000
I mean it's literally not cleaning anything at all because it's not a solvent, and it's not oiling anything because the volatiles flash off it just turns to glue after a few weeks. It's just about the worst """"""""""""""""CLP""""""""""""""" you could use on a gun but it's not harmful to materials I guess and it smells kinda schway

>>61588370
Hoppes 9 solvent is one of the best all around cleaners imo. Oil doesn't matter so much because you're going to be reapplying whatever you pick on a regular basis. It's just that WD40 isn't oil

The frame safety/decocker sucks.
I am not an assclown so I don't ride frame safeties when I shoot, so that shit does nothing for me. It's much better that your safety, which is totally administrative on a DA/SA gun, is completely out of the way on the slide. Having it on the frame just puts something on the frame your hand could touch while shooting.
The GTS is dumb because, again, that lever is totally administrative. Why would you want it closer to your hand? Why not just get a fucking G conversion on your 92? This is just a solution in search of a problem and I wish Beretta had told the vocal minority of frame safety beggars who probably don't even shoot to shut the fuck up rather than wasting time caving because I'm pretty sure cramming a frame decocker and twin sear into the 92 wasted a fuckton of time for some engineers.
Yes, I am mad.

If I wanted to get a pistol that could shoot as many calibers as possible with as little nigrigging as possible, what would I get?

I've heard SIG has a gun that allows the fire control group to be swapped and I know the Glock 22 (iirc) can use alternate barrels to shoot 357sig and 9mm (again, iirc). And of course there are revolvers that can use regular and magnum rounds as well, but I would prefer a semi-auto.

The only handguns I currently own are a Glock 19, a walter PPK, and a Scottish Flintlock.

I know XD pistols aren't cool but I really do like this stupid XD45 Compact that I bought for around $450 last year.
It fits my hand just right, I can shoot it well, and after this morning I have put over 2,000rds through it without a single malfunction.
That said, in July California is going to hit guns and ammo with an 11% tax, so I will most likely be shooting way more 9mm, so while I was at the range today I had them order me a M&P 9mm Compact.
>>
>>61589325
>If I wanted to get a pistol that could shoot as many calibers as possible with as little nigrigging as possible, what would I get?

Desert Eagle, no bullshit, it’s super easy to swap calibers and barrel lengths. It can shoot .357mag, .44 mag, .440, and .50AE

ok friends, i live in ny and my last 2 pistols i bought new from the LGS. i'm really eyeing a staccato cs. how tf does a FFL work? just ask the gun shop if they can get me one and i pay a small fee?
>>
>>61589504
Its time to teach you a Smith & Lesson with my Smith & Wesson.
>>
>>61589531
It may be minimal in the case of Staccato who essentially has Apple like price control across the earth but in most cases it's going to be a BIG difference between what your FFL charges and what you pay online, even after shipping and transfer fee.

If you want to bargain hunt (again not applicable to Staccato specifically and singularly), you'd find the lowest price online (gun.deals), buy it from online vendor, ask your local FFL to send their license to the online vendor, online vendor ships to your local FFL, then you do a transfer there as normal.

Still it may be worth your time to buy online, i doubt your FFL will get you a gun at cost.

Update on the PX4 optic cut issue

While I am angry, this is understandable since I did note issues with the product page as there was reference to a stock PX4 cut - they copy pasted the 92 RDO cut page. The 92 RDO cut is 75 dollars more which makes sense that that cut includes the decocker levers while this one is only 300 dollars for cut, plate, Cerakote, iron sight, and install.

I’ll take apart my slide to really verify they did the top end rebuild since the extractor on my first look looked exactly like the one I sent before I act like a real motherfucker to their CS

Looking at their site they don't make anything under $6,000. Is that not a ridiculous price? What's the catch

pic related pnly $11,999.99 9/10th plus shipping plus tax plus handling plus gratuity btw
>>
>>61590210
Catch is literal who custom 2011 manufacturers tank in price like used luxury cars if they aren't a big name like Cabot, SVI, etc. I've seen used Triarcs and similarly priced guns for that price used.
>>
>>61590210
At that point that's just a cheap art piece that happens to be capable of firing bullets. Looks like a lot of effort went into polishing etc. I doubt it's any better than anything half the price, a quarter even.
>>
>>61590219
That's recockulous, I've seen 2011 brands i've never heard of at nearly full price used. Is it from an estate sale or something? Is it btfo'd at 150,000 rounds? There has to be an actual catch, who's going to eat 66% loss on something, ANYTHING

Hmmm, maybe I've found the right artisan 1911smith for my TWO WORLD WARS 1911 with game scenes of the signing of the November 11 Armistice and the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on either side of the slide
>>
>>61590263
A Rolex isn't nearly that useful and have been eclipsed by computers that actually never lose time due to leap seconds etc. Nothing has eclipsed autoloaders. 2011s are popular because the trigger makes you a god.
>>
>>61590263
No, because Rolexes are many times more expensive than comparable watches for no actual reason at all other than branding, and there is only 1 Rolex.
2011s actually require a lot of care and hand work, and many different companies make them. You can also get 2011s that work fine for only 2-3x the price of some regular striker shit, expensive but within reach for a normal person whereas some poors will never own a Rolex ever because even if they had the money the expensive is not justifiable.
2011s are more like ANY automatic watch, while strikerslop is like quartz watches. Both tell time, but the 2011 is more finicky and carries more prestige, requiring hand finishing. That said, you can get economical 2011s.
>>
Well quartz watches are better since they're Japanese and not European trash
>>
>>61590304
But retardo, some of the finest watches in the world are Japanese. Grand Seiko, Minase, Credor, even Casio makes some super majestic premium line of G-Shocks where the bezel is made of actual samurai steel hammer forged by the last living descendent of Masamune or some bullshit.
>>
>>61590340
Yeah Japanese watches are amazing
>>
What's the reason behind the modern resurgence of 1911s in doublestack form? The most tactical and efficient hammer-fired pistols got pushed out by striker-fired pistols, but the one hammer-fired pistol still hanging on is a 1911 variant, of all things. Is it just because the 2011s have a high price tag and have become a status symbol?
>>
>>61590413
The 1911 is the gold standard of handguns, but it's held back by being a single-stack .45; the 2011 is a double stack 9mm 1911, so its only limiting factors are cost and reliability, which have recently been mostly sorted out.
>>
>>61590413
The straight-back trigger and hammer fired operation create a very crisp trigger. It also looks like that gun from all the WW2 movies but it's modernized. And all the cool gamer bros use it.
It basically has something for everyone and the only thing holding it back is price, but that is probably going to change. More competition and inevitable refinements in machining will mean in like 5-10 years anyone will be able to get a great 2011 for under $1K.
>>
>>61590243
I think it's just an older one, I don't see a similar model/options on Akais website. It is more likely a $4000 gun being sold at half off instead of a $7500 gun.

RMRs need to be sealed across the entire size of the footprint, they are not sealed. You can't get rid of the plate or the O-ring won't seal against anything. There are thinner optics but reducing the window size is a compromise. It's a full size gun, it should have a "full size" optic not a teeny carry optic

SA is chock full of MIM, Bul only uses it where it makes sense. Every part that matters is machined. MIM is fine when used properly, but the poor examples have given it such a bad connotation that some companies use "all forged parts" as a very effective sales grift to make mediocre products appear premium. People have been trained to believe that MIM = cheap. Sometimes it does, but at the end of the day, it's all down to quality control, knowing the limitations of different manufacturing processes, and applying them accordingly. Or you can ignore all that just to drive down the price, which is where Springfield comes in.

More interesting is the lack of complaints about MIM parts in Ruger, because they are actually one of the best in the industry at MIM and one of the only companies to do it in house. They're so good at it, a whole part of Rugers business is actually contract production for other manufacturers. They're a true manufacturing company, not just a meme gun assembler.

I am suddenly interested. On the other hand, while the accuracy is perfectly acceptable I was sort of hoping such an interesting meme gun would be a bit better. Also the lack of a distinct wall on the trigger is WEIRD and idk why they didn't try to make a straight pull trigger like a 1911

The trigger is an anomaly. Because it's SAO hammer fired, designed by a competition shooter who designs competition guns. It SHOULD have a 1911 like trigger despite the trigger pivoting. Why it has so much creep that it feels like a mini DAO is baffling, but at least it's very light for a production gun. Mine was about 3.5 pounds and I was able to drop a pound through tinkering.

I wouldn't recommend it though outside as a curiosity for weirdos. It's extremely front heavy, uncomfortably so. Like you said accuracy is not stellar but neither am I. And RIA/Armscor did me durty on the RMA for the gun jamming. In their favor they basically rebuilt most of the gun anew using the same serial number and did some kind of hand fitting which wasn't on the original. But the new parts are covered in light machine marks lol

I'm in California (sorry, its true)
On July 1st the state is going to tack on 11% to all guns and ammo sold.
I'm "good" ammo and gun wise having well over 20 guns and a little bit of everything, but have been itching to buy a M&P 9mm lately.
Problem is the California model is pretty damn expensive and only going to go up shortly.

What say you?
Is the M&P 2.0 really worth $841 or should I just try to find some cheap used gun to scratch the itch?

(prices in pic)
>>
>>61591825
jfc. for an m&p its safe to buy used, but fuck those prices. If you already have bunch of guns id honestly just buy 4k worth of ammo I think.

>CZ Rami

I think I had a spot for a cheap normal revolver and a fascist state carry pistol but haven't decided on what.

>>61591353
Do they have plans to make a compact variant?

>>61591825
Don't buy another fucking plastic striker shit. Go buy more ammo before the tax goes active and before others catch wind.
Or better, get a reload kit set-up. Though there's probably a mess of regulations surrounding that too.

It's EXTREMELY intolerant of grip angle and recoil control because the window is so teeni. Other than that, it does what it's supposed to. Battery seems to last a heck of a lot longer than the DPP, I haven't had to change it yet after about a year. I did have a problem where I or the builder crushed the battery door O-ring in such a way that it was causing flickers and dot failure at random (pic related it's torn up). I replace the O-ring because I saw it was torn up and that problem went away, Leupold sent a replacement which was cool.

As long as it's cheap as hell, and you are really solid with your presentation and recoil control, it's aite. But it's no RMR (or anything else)
>>
>>61591966
Oh also the low mount height is very noticeable, it's lower than any mounted optic I have including direct mount. It's basically normal height iron sight co-witness which I appreciate, I hate skyscraper optics on pistols

Here's the alternate list

>7. M&P 10mm or some other 10mm
I want to get some of my 92 slides cut and a PX4 cut, more RMR HDs. Cheely grip for my Apollo 11. Probably going to wait on the CZ and DWX for the CZ event in the summer. I will probably try to snatch an RMR plate if they really do optic cut the DWX. If I can't get a plate I'll just buy an irons only model and get a superior DPO cut.

If I were in Cali, I'd just focus on having as much gay sex as I could, than trying to buy guns and ammo. Buying guns and ammo there seems stressful and demoralizing, whereas the gay sex would be relaxing and stress releasing. Just my 2 cents.

Why can't non-White LEO's seem to learn this?
>>
>>61594087
They grow up in apartment complexes around dysgenic fighting dogs that aren't properly trained.
>>
>>61594087
NTA but ALL LEO's have that dysfunction.
I'm brown and can get any dog to calm down around me. I've had birds eat out of my hand before.
>>
>>61594149
>ALL LEO's have that dysfunction.

100% false.
My brother and 4 other family members are cops. All are White and all have had to deal with aggressive dogs. NONE of them have ever killed one. One was going to taze one but when the tazer popped and the prongs went in the dog went the other way.

Every dog death I have ever been personally told about was committed by a non-White.

I'm glad you understand, but facts are pesky things.

I got the promotional rebate from Kimber, two extra magazines and another pair of grips.
They're experimenting with "extra texture" grip panels but looks like all they did was run the same etching program on the machine only with a thicker bit lmao. Its not even a deeper cut.
It does give better grip ngl.

>>61594256

didn't mean to respond to you, i was typing out a rant about how all cops are tyrants, even and ESPECIALLY your tyrant cop family members and your examples are just cops that haven't had the chance to shoot a dog yet. I chose instead to post a gun.

I don’t want to attack good boys but I always carry when walking my cat. If it’s his life vs a pitbull/“akita”’s I’m picking him.
Otherwise dogs usually like me.

Is the grip safety functional or is just a plate that keeps the innards in
>>
>>61594270
the grip safety is functional but pinned down, meaning its always actuated.
Its cheaper to just make the frame like normal and pin the safety down than to change your tooling and make a new style of frame or make plates and a beavertail that fit well and that wont be used in other guns.

Ones in decent condition start at 500$. I actually like it as a carry gun as the slide is only .74 inches. It’s so thin that it can do deep concealment via AIWB. Sure k says I’ll shoot myself with it but it hasn’t happened.

https://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?396856-The-32acp-Fun-Effective-Useless-History-Guns-Loadings
Also if you run Fiocchi the stopping power is comparable to an LCP but it has better penetration and the ergonomics are way better. It’s not a bad buy.
>>61594270
Turk grip safety is functional so there’s no excuse
