What is my best option for running a PTR-GIR as a DMR. 4x Prismatic or LVPO?

I am willing to spend more if it is swappable. Rural MI, so shots are rarely going to exceed 100 yards except crop field shooting and then it is blank canvas with target front and center.
Has anyone run a prism with a mag though? I have cannot remember seeing such a setup. Heavy, yeah, but it is already a G3 clone.
>>
>>61899207
Also rural MI and routinely crop permit hunt on fields and shoot ~500yds over them. Don't go below 8x if you want to hunt with it. And this is coming from a guy that shoots 600yds with a TA31.

There is another company out there called Mayhem machine tool iirc that are making fixed carry handle AR-10 uppers. They seem to be based on the Colt 604 style upper receiver and look like they're using A1 style rear sights. They also said they're going to be around 300+ USD so not cheap.

Mein fuhrers, Steiner…. Steiner makes a fixed 4x illuminated reticle, with 7.62x51 bdc, made in Germany with excellent glass and available for less than $500 last time I checked. My friend, you are mistaken. While both the SVT-40 and SKS were autoloading rifles produced almost contemporaneously in the USSR, they are in fact quite different! The SKS is a mini-PTRS-41, while the Tokarev 41 is quite unrelated. I hope you have a good day, I love you.

Gas adjustment is going to be a pain, but once it's dialed in to your ammo of choice, it's a tack driver. Can't speak much on the 24", but my 18" is pretty heavy for the size, though that does help a little with recoil. Hope you can find some metal mags so you can replace the thermolds, they just last so much longer.

Are you sure about that? I think some of the round handguard caps actually had cuts to allow you to use either. And if yours doesn't you might be able to file it into that shape. That's assuming that AR-10 and AR-15 handguard caps are the same though. I'd test mine but IDK where my spares are ATM. I know I put them in an ammo can for safe keeping. The ironing.

Here's a pic of what I mean. I wish I knew where that cap was for sure to check with my surplus triangular handguards but here it seems there's someone with the exact same situation. This notched cap fits triangle or round and it's what you'll need to make to your round handguard cap look like to use the triangular ones. In a similar but opposite situation, (*surplus or milspec) M16A2 handguards can fit on 20" rifles with triangular caps.

How would you rate the 3x, 4x and 5x against each other for a 308 carbine under 200yrds? I'm leaning towards the 5x, even with the smallest exit pupil and hghest price, it's still around $700.

As someone who works security, the only people that actually piss me off are the ones that wont fuck off when they're told to go away.
If security ever tells you not to be somewhere, and you agree to leave, and security continues to bitch and complain instead of showing you the way out, then the guy's an asshole.
That said, there's some places where the procedures are just fucking retarded, like calling the cops any time someone shows up to an unfenced location just so dispatch can rightfully tell you "that's great, now fuck off", and sometimes it's more a matter of the guy being mad about having to deal with that than you being there.

Yeah but they're imported by people with permission to do so. Flying back with shit in your suitcase is considered importing in a lot of cases
>>
>BRN-10
Not having one sucks. Ahhh

You have to understand though. Brownells got brownelled themselves it seems on many of the retro parts. The first BRN-16 lowers had selector markings on both sides. They were near perfect otherwise. Magwell a little on the tight side, but all my empty pmags and colt mags dropped free that's all that matters. Sample size of one. Didn't see any complaints reading when all that stuff first came out. Just the selector markings.

Then it started going to shit. Parts like uppers being machined by retards, handguards with no heatshields like it's going on airsoft, canted sights, etc. At least one guy had a BRN-10 where the rear sight was fucked up one way or another and it wouldn't zero. Thing was machined by a retard and it put a bunch of people off like myself. I could have gotten over not being able to mount an optic, but I didn't want to risk getting a POS machined by a 3rd party retard that probably didn't feel he was paid enough, or whatever.

I'm happy I got what I got before some of the parts became unobtanium. I hope H&R can pick up where they left off. If I hear people bitching that a H&R AR-10 not $500 I'm going to be pissed off because then it's going to be a limited run and I probably won't have time to get one. Guaranteed, if the demand was higher they could also make a scope mount. It sucks because nobody has money for this shit because the FJB economy.

>It's Trump's fault!
Fuck you moron, shit was bussin before that pants shitting retard entered office. Pertaining to this board, his ATF is blocking import of some really cool shit I want, so fuck you again in your pox ridden ass.

Generally works well if you don't change your bullet weight. I've used mixed 147-150gr FMJ without adjustment no problem.
There will be a break-in period (especially if it's new), but it feels better the more you shoot it. The factory thermolds feel really weak, even compared to Thermold-branded mags. Get metal mags when/if you find them.

Dunno if I'm going to bother, at this point honestly what I really want is them to do a 300bo Micron and have a standard pattern BR with the bullpup very focused on being small, but thought it was interesting that they're offering something for the MDRv2 even after releasing the MDRv3. >This WLVRN is actually MDRv4, if you count each change in parts being a new version.
I don't. The MDRX (v2) got a lot more revisions then what you're talking about, there was never a "2022" and if anything some of the biggest changes were last year, like when they finally dumped that rail section attached to the fixed gas block. Seriously there was an absolutely massive list of tweaks and revisions minor to significant starting pretty early and continuing, well, until right now I guess given they're offering this service. If the $370 is also a chance to get a rifle updated with everything added on since that's a little more compelling.

I think renaming it the wlvrn was stupid, and the rollout has been shit, but everything they did and then the new stuff on top did justify at least calling it the MDR3. But I can't pick a point in the 2018-2023 period where the MDRX should have been renamed, it only felt like it was getting polished up right before they killed it lol.

>>
>>61971345
Yeah but aren’t they still kinda dodgy?
>>
>>61971376
Depending on who you ask PTRs either run flawlessly out of the box or they are total dogshit. When I purchased mine in 2014 the barrel came with rust in it, presumably from test firing with either wolf or federal M80. The bolt would catch the bullet case about halfway down and crush it, this was a constant issue even after several hundred rounds. PTR had been installing out of spec mag catches if you can believe that.

Haven't had a lot of time to spend on my gf lately due to work/studies, she told me she's unhappy with the general state of our relationship and thinks it can't work longterm if we don't change things. I kinda agree and want to spend more time with her as well but it's not easy.

Unironically start hanging out with her more and doing small things for her. It sounds stupid but getting her something she likes when she didn’t ask for it goes a long way, especially if it’s a lot of little things. Basically just do more than the bare minimum and she might warm up again

Just checked their site, they were $45 then got a discount to be $35 each. But I remember them being $35 a few months ago. Could be the case of a Seller jacking up the price then giving you a "deep" discount back to the normal price. They do that a lot and I don't know why it's legal.

Focus on your studies/self. At the end of the day, that’s what matters first. If they don’t appreciate your commitment, that’s on them.

>>61974839
I can’t remember if those were surplus ones or DSA new batch made. If I recall correctly the ranking for metric mags was

Para-Hinduminium (no issues ever and light as fuck)
Belgium (basically perfect)
Austrian / Izzy / South African / Converted Inch (the standard, works unless someone dented it or mangled the feed lips)
New DSA (untested, but new)
Old DSA (they fucked up the dimensions in a few runs)
Korean / Moses (former had lots of lemons, latter is alright but ugly)

Did some light bubba’ing. All no-drill. Essentially just picatinny m-lok sections that I carved to fit the handguard vents, then secured with washers. They don’t touch the barrel or gas tube, and they can be removed as easily as they could be from an Mlok handguard.
Ignore the chinese grenade I’ve got on there as a light - it’s just proof of concept.

While tempting to pick up cheap optics, I recommend not picking up cheap optics. That one is tempting tho. I bought a used Schmidt and Bender for (probably) twice that and couldn't be happier. Downside, I paid double. Upside, can resell for near same.

See >>61980347 after a certain time archives are naturally purged, but still doesn't answer the jannie question.

"JANNIES could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this thread before. There could be JANNIES anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his bare chest. "I HATE JANNIES" he thought. I'm a Barbie Girl in a Barbie World reverberated his entire car, making it pulsate even as the $9 wine circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of mods after titties posting. "With a car, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.
