If you don't have a forward assist, it's a range toy. All fighting rifles worth their salt have a way to manually close the bolt. You know I'm right.

Is 300 blackout a meme?
>>
>>61968037
Yeah unless you really care about being as quiet as possible.
Having subsonics in a suppressed home defense or vehicle weapon will not only be way more hearing safe but also have way less concussion
>>
>>61968037
It's good at what it was made for: quiet AR15 with suppressor. It's also better than 5.56 with short barrels but that wasn't intentional.

I shoot Hornaday Sub-x when I use my blackout, which is rare.

that’s good. i mean it’s on 99% of ar15s so you should learn how you will literally never use it if you learn how to use the rifle properly.

For me it's split rigs (I don't know what other pouches to get)
>>
>>61968499
What are you gaining by going split rig over a regular chest rig? This isn’t a gotcha I genuinely don’t understand
>>
>>61968455
They're stainless steel. They're not going to rust before the springs in any mag will. And I have enough aluminum and polymer mags. I want a few steel ones for feed lips that don't bend or break.
I want to know if they're only shit because of anon's bias against the tradeoffs of steel or if they're poorly functioning magazines.
>>
>>61968499
Double stack M4 mags because they can fit a lot of different things not just mags would be my guess
>>
>>61968513
NTA but going prone sucks dick with a PC on and being able to release the chest rig lets you get more stuff out of the way. If you use it without a plate carrier it’s an even more exaggerated effect
>>
>>61968499
They're hilariously priced, but I love spud pouches from spiritus. Hold just about anything I want to cram in them.
>>
>>61968527
Interesting. I’ve never had issues going prone with a regular chest rig but I can see how the open part in the middle will make it more comfortable.
>>
>>61968548
Based. You just know that troon made that pic to turn on A2.
>>
>>61968513
Imagine you're a 1970s LRRP. You're prone on you belly crawling in the dirt and you stop to watch a trail for hours in that position. Wouldn't it be nice to unbuckle while you wait for the extra 1" of getting low?

What I've noticed so far
The good:
The ability to unbuckle the front when resting is truly a godsend, especially when its hot
The ability to unbuckle the front when going prone for long periods of time is a godsend
The ability to drop this down to your belt line and run it as some kind of LBE is nice because it can then be worn with armor.
The nature of the rig and its front end straps mean you can loosen it and tighten it at will and VERY easily. Had a heavy lunch? Loosen it. Had to don or doff an extra layer because of weather? easy adjustment. This is something I like about the spiritus specifically. Other split fronts only buckle or have tubes with no tightening straps. This also means it can be easily adjusted to run over armor.
The downsides:
Some pretty valuable upfront real estate is lost
Harder to implement an EUD
and specific to the spiritus, I wish the sewn in inbaord facing elastic pouches were 3 equal 556 instead of a 762, 556, pistol size.

I bought it as something to start some kind of DMR/AR-10 kit. Lots of time prone.

I have a 34A. Do not fall into the trap of putting large GPs on the sides, you will not be able to swing your arms. If anything put GPs front and center and single mags on the outside, the 34A is good because it has internal mag storage so you don't actually need front and center double mags to reach your mag quota or whatever

Overall I am not impressed with split front, the ventilation is not significant and theres too many oddities with how they interact with pistol belts and pack hip belts

The SPUD is pretty nice. It fits two 7.62 mags, so it can hypothetically fit quite a bit. You can absolutely ball on a budget though. My only reasoning was that companies tend to design their products to compliment each other. I'm pretty much bought into the spiritus line at this point.

I have basically a 2500 dollar budget for an optic. I’ve been pretty set on getting an elcan, but recently I’ve been thinking fuck it I should just buy an exps-3 and a g33. I don’t even shoot that much and I could use the extra money on other things.

>>
>>61970326
Yeah but I can buy an exps-3 and g33 for the price of the t2 alone. And it performs better under both magnification and night vision.
>>
>>61970342
exps looks cooler too
>>
>>61970335
EXPS-3/T2 + a magnifier. I have an EXPS3 and a G45 and haven't looked back. Once you start getting into the thousands as far as hours of battery life, it's not really a problem.
That barrel length is probably gonna keep you to around 300m, so a dot will already get you far, add a clip on mag, and you're set. Take off the mag when you don't need it to lighten up the gun. I'd recommend getting a unity riser and having the mag in a flip-to-CENTER, not a flip to side to mitigate snag

>>
>>61970364
he's gone, man
>>
>>61970358
It's not a matter of accuracy, it's a matter of velocity. 77gr OTMs can make up for only so much
>>
>>61970354
Nah I could reach out to 500 with 77gr easily. Probably easier with an elcan than the exps. And it would be better on my eyes.. but 1500 is a lot to spend for something I’ll likely never do. The closest range that has 500 yard targets is 3 hours away and they have a 3 year waiting list for membership. No BLM land in my state. Even though line of sight exceeds 300 yards almost everywhere near my home, I wouldn’t have the means to practice at that range. Also, if I eventually move to night vision having an elcan plus a red dot would add even more weight to an already heavy rifle. Not sure what I’m going to do.
>>
>>61970358
>>61970378
the tiny asian man is also a trained professional thats been doing this for decades
>>
>>61968393
there are a bunch of us don't embarrass yourself.
>>
>>61970439
What a retarded response
>>
>>61970387
Do one thing at a time.
If you want a night vision dedicated gun get the red dot.
If you want something more general purpose oriented and rugged get the elcan.
Neither is a bad choice some are just better than others depending on what you want to do.
>>
>>61970387
I'd almost say get an LPVO with an 8 or 10 max power, getting a top mounted dot when you need one for passive aiming under NODs. Even with your hypothetical engagement distances though, I'd still opt for a dot+mag. You'll probably want a 5x mag.
It may sound strange, but fuck what you can or can't practice, what matters is what you need to be ready for, and that you're just getting general trigger time. The difference between 300m and 500m is a couple more mils on your hold anyway. We aren't shooting a 1000m here. With ballistic calculators/helpers these days, if your zero is on, you're fine. I feel your pain though... longest range near me is only 300. Need about a 5 hour drive to get any further.
I may sound like a dick, but I'd consider a longer barrel with your potential engagement distances. 14.5" or 16" maybe
A final point - maybe you get 'x' option and don't like it. Just turn around and sell it to buy another option. Sure, you're out 15-20%, but now you know.
Hope this makes sense and helps

New? 2 moa with m855. potentially less than 1.5 moa with good ammo.
>>
>>61972863
2.7 to 4 ES for ball (m855 m183 m318). Match 1.0 to 1,5 ES. Hand loads > 1.0 ES.
.223 ball is typically a little more accurate for practice.

Depends on ammo. You're probably not getting better than 1.5 MOA.
