An AR in 5.56 is an extremely boring rifle.
>>
it'll bore extreme holes in your body alright you fat fuck
>>
>>61972691
Might as well run drills with fucking airshit, the recoil is the same.
>>
>>61972667
All ARs are boring. Dudes play barbie dress up with thier "military" rifles with shit like red dots and lazers and play dress up with thier freinds pretending to be tough military guys but the only kind of warrior they are is a keyboard warrior in a 4chan general thread

AR10's are fun
>>
>>61972667
you are right.
>>
don't need an AR for that bear, he's gonna get a heart attack chasing you anyway
>>
effective stuff that works is very boring. Glocks are also boring. If you're a hipster like me just spend a few extra dollars on something goofy.

>An AR in 5.56 is an extremely boring rifle.
...and? "Boring" is usually a very, very good adjective with critical tools of all kinda. They just work, reliably and consistently without drama. "Exciting" is a bad word. Guns exploding or having a failure right at a key moment is very "exciting".
>>
>>61972918
what critical work do you do with your AR in 5.56?
>>
>>61972667
What about an AR in 223?
>>

This reeks of European

Hunting, pests, and home defense.
>you don't need an AR
AR-15 at this point is just the default, "boring" high value platform for anything. You can get extremely accurate (sub-moa), reliable, pleasant rifles with cheap ammo for a very good price. That's the power of a standardized platform with absolutely enormous mass manufacturing and market support. Naturally you can do the same thing with some other platforms but it costs more. None of this has anything to do with larp, which few of us do, though I don't see anything wrong with people having fun if it's done in a healthy manner either.

There's nothing wrong with picking other stuff instead of an AR or in addition. I love manual action shooting. A shotgun is also fine for HD and if you like bird hunting or skeet critical, 22s remain wonderful, if you purely are doing defense as cheap as possible in an urban area you should probably just get a boring handgun and that's it. There are lots of other semiauto guns that are functional as well if you like them and have the budget.

But the AR is a strong default and it shouldn't be surprising that people of all sorts get them. It may have ORIGINATED out of military designs, but so did the internet itself. It passed that a very long time ago.

I shatter my wrist with .458 Socom
>>
>>61972667
It's a tool and if it works when you need it to, that's all that matters
>>
>>61972667
I agree but it's also by far the best semi auto rifle I have. Everything else requires much more practice to use well. AR is just pick up and shoot. I can ignore it for a year pick it back up and get a good group at 150yd.
>>
>>61973080
If you are talking about x39 its actually more plesant too shoot over 5.56 just because its not ear piercingly loud.
>>
>>61973080
Europe is using our rifles and our politics. Cope. You’re replaced kek
>>
>>61972698
What? I had a "friend" talk me into actually going to gun range and shooting an AR15 assault rifle. The concussion was disorienting, and it left a visible mark8httx
on my shoulder.

There's not a single socialist country in Europe.
"Socialist" implies a state controlled economy rather than a free market.
Countries like Cuba and Venezuela are socialist. None of the counties in Europe has fit that definition since the fall of Yugoslavia.

Social democracy is the correct term for the prevailing system in most of Europe.
It's just free market capitalism with expanded welfare, it's not socialism.

Yes and Glock 19s are as well. Unfortunately, the most optimal choice is the most boring

5.56 isn't designed for a 20" barrel though brainlet.
>>
>>61973759
Agree. Brits are vastly superior to the average European due to their higher percentage of American DNA and usage of English (though twisted by their malformed dialect).

FTFY

>>61973778
yes the retards punching holes in paper with 5.56 bitching about the noise are undoubtedly using mk262 or some other niggertech reinvented wheel cartridge for $1.50/rd
>>
>>61972667
Yeah but it do work good.
It's the rifle you get to do the job more than the rifle you get for fun.
>>

They hated the M4 because it just werks.

>>61973870
M855A1 is designed for 14.5".
>>
>>61973870
5.56 didn't exist until NATO agreed on adopting the Belgian made SS109 round, designed for FN's FNC. Which doesn't have a 20" barrel. All rounds prior to that were .223.

>>61973577
Not everything is economics nerd.
>>
>>61972667
It's because of overexposure. We've seen so many AR15s that seeing another is entirely unremarkable. ARs are designed to be easy to build so we see cheap versions pricing as low as $400. I've even seen a listing at $320. Naturally, this means everyone has one and everyone is sick of looking at them.
>>
>>61973772
They make ammo specifically for shorter barrels.
When not doing that, the fireball and concussion is fun.
>>
>>61972667
Agreed, never even shoot mine. Feels like a toy, has no kick.
>>
Why does everyone say 5.56 has no felt recoil? That's such an absurd bluff, maybe if you're wearing a plate carrier it takes a lot of of the feeling out but I've only shot ARs in street clothes and it's definitely not a 22lr.
>>
>>61975017
Have you ever shot anything that wasn't a .22 lmao?
>>
>>61975017
The recoil is the joke. My pellet rifle has more recoil than my AR.
>>
>>61975017
>definitely not a 22lr
I mean, I guess, but ARs have around 3 ftlbs of recoil energy. 22lr has about 0.2.
7.62 NATO has about 17-18 ftlbs
12ga is 25-30 for field loads and more for most slugs and hunting loads.
.45-70 is almost 40 for a modern loading
.458WM is around 60.
so no, ARs don't really have much recoil in an absolute or relative sense.
