Which is deadlier?

9mm hollowpoints

Assuming we're talking about human size or larger targets, the slug. It can kill at ranges where buckshot will not. At close range slugs drop deer and hogs faster and more effectively than buckshot.

Also, #4 beats 00 by a tiny bit.

1 of 9 beats 0 of 1.

Either 000 buck or a slug. Everything else fails to meet fbi ballistics standards.
>>
>>61975492
So are the thousands of people killed by 00 and smaller shot now not dead because of your appeal to authority?
>>
>>61975492
depending on the range something as low a #4 buck can meet the penetration standards
>>
>>61975461
Only if you're a wimpy little nerd boy. For real, strong, badass red-blooded men, 00 buckshot works the best. Don't try to argue, I know I'm right and I will not elaborate or explain.
>>
>>61975589
it's generally the same weight and velocity of shot retard.
>>
>>61975589
#4 typically has more muzzle energy though.
Scared of recoil or something?
>>
>>61975358
home defense, buckshot. across the street, slug.
>>
>>61975358
Why not just shoot him with both?
>>
>>61975358
Buckshot up close and slugs out further. Deforming slugs do a whole lot of work as long as velocity is fairly high though(dont tell the YouTube ballistics gel crowd this) so the gap isn't exactly massive with some slug designs.
>>61975461
Nope, #4 is garbage, it doesn't penetrate reliably in real world circumstances which is why so many LEAs stopped issuing it.
>>61975589
Dumb

My nigga. Shotgun change over is an extremely valuable skill.
Or vary the tube like a noob.

>many LEAs stopped issuing it.
Which presumably is for cruisers, so distances significantly longer than my hallways.
And I am not trying to pen a vehicle, just nogs and tweakers.
>>
>>61975674
Nah, it'd fail after things like extra heavy clothing, screen doors, non ideal shot angles, etc. if you check out hunting results on deer you'll frequently see #4 buck penetrating but not perforating major thoracic organs on broadside deer shots at reasonable(for the context) distances. It's on the bad side of marginal penetration. I'd suggest looking into it yourself if you don't believe me.

>>61975492
Everybody always wants the largest buckshot for 12 gauge possible for defensive use. Never made any sense. #2 buckshot from a 20 gauge is devastating for defensive use and the follow up shots you can get with it are immaculate. 12 gauge really should only be used for hunting animals when a 20 gauge would fall short.

The funny thing is 20 gauge slugs actually have better long range performance than 12 gauge slugs.
>>
>>61976147
12 gauge slugs are good for 100 yards, they're fine.
>>
>>61976147
>long range performance
Not the same as long range lethality. A .22lr is more accurate than my slug gun at 200yd.

wrong.

KEK, actually believing this.
>>
>>61975472
There is no spread at self-defense distances. Even at 30 feet, 00 buck has a spread of like 4-5 inches at best.

maximally wrong
