alright boys here is my question.
I want to switch up my build with this guy and go with the following:
1) DSA picatinny dust cover with ACOG holes
2) PA 5x Micro prism with cantliver spacer to get it closer to my eye.

Will this work with my iron sight or will I have to remove it?
Bloke on the range had a folding iron sight SLR when he did his but obviously I don't have that option

It's been a hot minute since I posted here, made a lot of changes to my FAL

I'm trying to talk myself out of spending a grand on a gun that'll sit next to my bedside when that money could be used somewhere else.

That being said, would a Trijicon Huron be a decent "do a little everything" scope on a PTR 91? What's a good .308 suppressor?
>>
>>61988804
what do you use to make your witness marks? I was thinking of starting doing it after an optic recently worked itself loose.
>me at the range for 30 min being bamboozled by my groups

>I'm trying to talk myself out of spending a grand on a gun that'll sit next to my bedside when that money could be used somewhere else.
Change your mindset. A small slice of your income should be set aside for pure bullshit nonsense purchases and activities. I call that line item in my budget my "funny money".
>>
>>61988587
Can you put an L1A1 sight on metric gun? I would assume you can swap them out just as long you swap the bases as well.
>>

I went with the harris. We'll see how she goes.

As for the other anon asking about grib angle, we gonna find out together. I find it more ergonomic for the pull factor when trying to stabilize.
>>
>>61987816
Finally, an OP that doesn't suck. You hit all the main points, good job.
>>
>>61988577
>Will this work with my iron sight or will I have to remove it?
It will work, your optic will be higher than Irons, not co-witness. I think this is fine because it will give you a bigger field of view and you can use Irons as a reference point to make your shots.

One of DSAs packages for their SA58s. Essentially, it is a short barrel FAL with folding AR style stock, short barrel with railed hand guard and the railed dust cover mount. I’m sure there’s a few other goodies but that’s what I can think of off the top of my head. Notable for appearing in call of duty black ops 2 and ghosts (sort of)
As far as modernization attempts go I think it looks really clean, though I’d prefer an 18-21in barrel option but eh I support I could just make it myself. Wanted to see if someone here has had hands on with it
>>
>>61989497
>what do you use to make your witness marks?
My go to would paint pen. I would prefer 3M 2216, a type of adhesive we use at work for staking fasteners. Once broken, it easily chips away with low to no reside. I would not use deformative staking (center punch). But honestly, torque wrench (Wheeler from Midway) and some temp thread lock should do. My last M1A came with a witness mark in paint pen for zero on windage and I'm fine with it.

Well it can also just have the normal para stock, I just remember the AR style adjustable stock from the Argentinian modernization proposals which formed the inspiration for the SC-2010

>>61991265
The AR collapsing may be better ergonomically, but not aesthetically, at least to my eye. That's all.

Yeah, picrel this side stamped poly that I post here. Bolt face detonated a primer that was, as far as I'm aware, was sticking out as it slammed forward, since the bolt didn't rotate. The receiver looks fine still so I'm contacting smiths to see if they'd inspect and rebarrel, since I already have most of the spare parts to do so, but got no time myself and my arm hurts like hell.

>>
>>61998257
Have you considered the length of pull spacers they sell? might make it a little more comfortable, since it sounds like it's just too short for your build. I'm glad you got it all just around MSRP though, wish I could get that many accessories for the price.
>>
>>62000050
I've only shot my friends Scar, but I was impressed with it's relative light weight and smooth recoil. LMT would be nice for mag availability and customization, but I've seen Scars go for just under $3k used with mags, so you have some budget leftover for nice optics.

>>

Supply and command
>>
>>62001456
If they want to build one that's good quality they've got to do basically everything in house, from scratch. Which is expensive, and the limited market means few sales, which means it's more expensive.
Also the M14s are just expensive and difficult to build well. Even the original mil-spec M14s had shitloads of issues with certain manufacturers (Winchester) building the rifles wrong and the rifles not being anywhere close to meeting specs (they shot >15MOA groups at 100m).

I'm aware, and this one was certainly softer than a GI bolt. It detonated after only rotating about 1/8th of the way down so I can't blame the bolt for a primer sticking out.
>>62002836
Someone did some degree of accurizing on this one (dimpled around pins, adjusted trigger). It was fairly accurate, best its done is a 1.5 inch group at 100y. The receiver is still good so I'm rebuilding with a criterion barrel and this winchester bolt I've had for a year.

Going through this rn bro. I can’t decide between a piston gun or a DI LMT
>>
>>62001456
>s there a reason for A good quality M14 costing $3000 ?
Custom built to order, and that's pretty much it. You don't need to do that. Springfield M1A is 90% the same experience. Fulton and Bula make nice rifles but it's ultimately for die hard boomers. Practically speaking, you won't notice a difference.
>>
>>62001832
>go buy bendy bills blem trigger for your AR-10 build
From what I have seen, poor fags with crappy AR10s don't have the money to buy Bendy Bill triggers. People usually go one of two routes with AR-10s. Top of the line AR 10 that don't need trigger upgrades or franken build with left over sale parts.
>>
>>62012249
>I can’t decide between a piston gun or a DI LMT
A short 16" or 14.5" piston AR10 would be amazing. DI LMT are nice but too mundane. Too average in scope of it all. I'd go with the Piston just because it's different, more quirky and option rich. Before spending $2000 on a piston AR 10; Desert Tech's Wolverine, the XCR and the new PWS UXR can be found near that price range. Things to consider.
>>
>>62012323
Funny enough, I’m heavily considering an LMT Piston 16” AR10 along with their 13.5” DI gun.
>>
>>62011890
Buy whatever your heart wants the most. Trust me you won't have FOMO anywhere near my level
>acquire FAL and PTR in 2022
>state enacts AWB the following year
>still no M14 clone or AR-10
Can't wait to leave this shithole. There's very few BRs that would be allowable in this state and LGS doesn't even carry the cucked M1As.
>>
>>62012337
Get the upper, then get the lower. Dropping $2000 can be steep but if you break it down into two purchases of $1000, it's much more palatable. Plus it gives you room and time to get ammo or optics.
>>
>>62011890
>>62012249
>>62012354
I have a PTR and now I want an m14 clone or ar10 before laws here potentially change. However I also really want a FAL. But an ar10 would be more versatile, fuck gotta buy em all
>>
>>62012354
>There's very few BRs that would be allowable in this state
What's stopping you from driving to another state, buying in cash then driving back in Minecraft? There's niggers with full auto glocks and AKs but you can't be bothered to drive for 6hrs?
>>
>>62012373
Not a bad idea, I’m ready to drop up to $4K right now after saving for a while but that gives me such decision paralysis. I think mostly because I’m not sold on the long term reliability/durability of a piston AR10 whereas I feel the DI guns are pretty well established by now
>>
>>62012226
I didn't make the previous 2 b4 that.
Dont quote tradition to me, I was there when it was written.
>>
>>62012376
>Fuck gotta buy them all
You can always sell the ones that don't live up to your expectations in the future.
>>62012383
>What's stopping you from driving to another state, buying in cash then driving back in Minecraft?
Idk which gun stores across the border would transfer an LMT and allow me to pick it up with my Minecraft emeralds. I'm also focused on saving up to leave this state and paying off debt.
>There's niggers with full auto glocks and AKs but you can't be bothered to drive for 6hrs?
3 day wait period means repeating that drive which I can do but it's a pain in the ass.

You have nice Veprs. They aren't Tigrs but they are nice. Top black one is a 10/10, but the bottom should be all wood. Bottom is half wood, half metal modern. Should make it all wood for a nice contrast.

I had the original wood handguard on it, but I don't care for it form really. Then I went through the process of trying to fit SVD handguards to it with a cnc machined retainer, and that didn't work out. That zenitco is also a bitch to fit, and its on there now and I like it. Otherwise the only option is to use AK handguards, which is how I used to have the 308. pic related.

Sorry for sounding poor, but are y’all reloading your brass? Barely shooting? Using cheap ammo? Or, just biting the bullet and spending thousands a year on ammo? Was looking at getting into reloading, but it looks like I won’t see any sort of “ROI” for years down the line. Also just seems cool for the larp factor

HELLO NIGGERS
THE BEAUTIFUL MAN BY THE NAME OF RICK LOWE AT RLOCUSTOMLEATHER HAS MADE ME A VERY HAPPY CAMPER.
I actually convinced him to make picrel. Idk if I'm just unlucky or if this guy is just so gosh darn nice but must leatherworking companies just don't do custom shit no matter how much you're willing to spend.

All I wanted was a leather cheek riser. Simple, but no one sells one. So I reached out to the guy that sold me the cheek riser for my M1A and he actually went through with it and I'm in love.

Go show him some of the same love, please. If you have an optic on your traditional-stocked FAL, stop living with that awful cheek weld and help this man's business

It's pretty well understood that SCARs eat optics faster than other rifles. Why? Probably something to do with the recoil impulse of its big ass bolt carrier and monolithic receiver. Every time someone points this out, 10,000 guys will crawl out of the woodwork to tell you their SCARs that they put 500 rounds through is doing fine.

>>
>>62041416
>Do you guys have any recommendations for prisms?
I don't like prisms. FAL needs a red dot or maybe an LPVO if you don't have one. Good LPVO used to be $500 but you can find a Vortex Strike eagle for $300.
>>
>>62036218
The FAL stock is incredibly narrow and the front end of that leather riser would never be able to be cinched down tight enough to prevent slippage.
Plus none of us here are poorfags. $90 versus $25 is chump change.

is a .30 caliber cartridge
that's not what "larger than .30 caliber" means.

.338 Win Mag or .338 Lapua would be a couple examples of larger than .30 caliber.

for another example, Russia developed a semi-AP 9.3×64mm cartridge for use in the SVDK Dragunov-variant sniper rifle
most common anti-material rifles are chambered for .50 BMG, 12.7×108 and 14.5×114, or (largest) in 20mm

Its a good question, i used it on plastic rim covers without problem and since its also water based it shouldnt do much of a problem. That formulation was planned as tge initial gun cleaner but now we we go for water-free to add a rust protectan oil inside for internal spring lubricantion amd rust protection. If you want info how to make a rim cleaner ask, its cheap AF

I live in Detroit bro. If my rims look good, someone will probably steal them or at least try. Not the same around here as it was 25-30yrs ago.

I suppose if the cleaner is safe to use on polymer frames, it's not going to hurt powder coat or even plastic hubcaps though.
I was thinking more like a strong solvent degreaser. I'm sleep deprived, nevermind me.

Sure that one is safe, I mean its containing water which makes aggressiv solvents more soft. But even in pure form it wouldnt mess up guns. What we gonna ship to our /hg/ and /brg/ frens wont be that, the formulation we gonna use is strange and not water diluted. Today the caps for testing came, so Prototype testing will also include feedback to the spray amount of liquid so we can adjust that once we order. Besides Anons we also got a very large amounts of gunsmiths and cleaning service guys testing the same Prototype, its going to be a funny year :D

>Save up and leave. No licensed FFL is gonna transfer guns to you with a Gulag ID. Your wage theft literally puts food on the table of Menshevik parasites and nigs who carry Glock switches with near impunity
That's the plan. Only problem is finding a job in whatever state I migrate to. Got friends in AR and depending on how much is available for work, that might be an option for the future. Can't even get a proper M14 clone in this shothole state.
>>

Arkansas is pretty descent depending on job skills. Low cost of living and the blacks generally stay in their designated zones (Little Rock, W Memphis, Poplar Bluff). Go where you can network jobs. NW Ark has money influx due to Walmart, Tyson and as a result has economic infrastructure. Gun laws wise the only real issues Arkansas has are some shitty vague state regulations on weapons carry that some cops obfuscate to ignore constitutional carry and some weird state definitions of allowable machine guns which don't matter anyway if your poor and white. Presuming your in Illinois at least you have the destination of being on a Gulag Island in a mostly gun friendly part of the country (MO, IN, WI, IA all at least descent) vs New Hampshire where they're in an opposite position of being walled in by anti gun states and constantly flipping back and forth in the state legislature
>>
>>62062019
You're kinda stuck with a lot of their proprietary parts. What little cross compatibility ar10's already have, you don't get.
As far as I know otherwise, the DD's are very good. Why get one with such a short barrel though?

Hopefully, they got some decent jobs in engineering or manufacturing as that's what I do.
>Gun laws wise the only real issues Arkansas has are some shitty vague state regulations on weapons carry that some cops obfuscate to ignore constitutional carry and some weird state definitions of allowable machine guns which don't matter anyway if your poor and white.
Allowable machine guns is an odd one, got any examples?
>Presuming your in Illinois at least you have the destination of being on a Gulag Island in a mostly gun friendly part of the country (MO, IN, WI, IA all at least descent)
Yep, Chicago ruins everything for the rest of this state. WI is another choice I'd consider and they have better/more opportunities for jobs in my industry than AR iirc. Can't imagine loving in the Northeast, though Southeast could be doable if it weren't so damn humid.

Might be neat with a Silencer. If you don't have one, Pistol anything in .308 is a bad idea. Stand next to a Pistol 5.56 now 4x that feeling with .308 and you'll get the idea.

I can do a point x point breakdown comparing Arkansas and Wisconsin later. For long term gun rights stability I would recommend Wisconsin unless there's a red wave like 1980 this year. For the next 5 years though it'll probably be fine. There's 1st Stage of cuck laws that almost always pass a year or 2 ahead of major gun control (Red flags, UBCs, Wait period etc)

If reamed, they can work. It's the armalite receiver (armalite ar10a) holes that are smaller than the sr25 receiver holes (holes being takedown and pivot pin holes).
After long hours of digging, I'm pretty sure I found the answer. Image related from the sniper'shide forum.

Took my Lee Enfield to the range today(first time at an inside range)
I am using some random reloads that were 50 for 25 at a gunshow and I have shot them before without issue, but this time I had a few rounds where the guns trigger pull changed completely.
Any ideas where I should go hunting?
Also my dad shot his martini henry today for the first time, thats quite a neat gun

depends on what’s on it, I can see that trade working out in all honesty but it won’t be a Jaw-dropping steal. If it’s a normal cookie cutter metric build (let’s say plastic stock and grip), you could splurge on a para lower and just sell the one it came with. That’s going to set you back like 150ish bucks I think.

>mag wall, ask and ye shall receive

>>62075214
It's so beautiful. The dark colors, the aged history and lines where you can see where it was handled the most. Oh and the rifle is nice too, I guess.
>>
I have a welded rail PTR (no bully) and I would like to put a carry handle on it, from what I have read you can make them fit if you put it on backwards, but that sounds like it may make it function worse or look stupid. Does anyone know if there's a way to mount it normally? Maybe modify the handle bracket somehow?

I'd grind the weld smooth then weld on the right side of your weld. Then clean up and weld again in the middle of those two welds. 3 pass it and grind smooth.
