My honest opinion is that you should spend good money on the firearm and optic itself. Something like a DD or BCM AR with an ACOG for a total of around $2,500-$3,500. Everything else can just be surplus since the only real test for shit like clothing and gear is if it's durable enough to handle the job, with virtually all surplus shit fitting that description. You should be good to go.

I wouldn't say a DD/BCM AR is worth the money over a Ruger/Aero/other midline AR. It's all an AR in the end, and other than an ambi lower what are you even getting?

Besides that it works great.
Need water, food and some shelter from the elements though.
I've been looking at the FILBE hydration carrier. Stuff a poncho and as much of an FSR as I can into that I'll be good for summer time operations.

>>62138156
Ah I see.
Looking down my dust cover as if my sights were on that plane, my ear pro does make contact with the stock but it doesn't push them open. Maybe if tried it with live fire it would make the shot louder.
Not sure if you're saiga anon but I would get a lower mount. Like I said, with standard AK iron sight height there's no interference so there's no need to go with a chin weld height mount such as this >>62133411 pic related
But then again this is /PFG/ and we use what we got.
I'd go with a PA micro prism if you want magnification and literally any red dot if you don't.

save another 1000+ and buy something decent. I was in similar boat last year, 300-400 a month budget, I'm glad I waited. spend 3200 instead of 2000 on the tube. All in I paid ~4400. If you shop black friday you might be able to chip a few hundred off that.

Most products you can get 80% of the usefulness at 20% of the price. while that might be 600 dollars for a rifle compared to 5000 for gucci stuff the 80% happens around the 4000 dollar price point for NVGs + mount + helmet. Nothing like spending 2 grand on a tube and then your 150 dollar mount breaking and dropping it onto concrete breaking it. buy once cry once is real in NV

Got this complete upper from primary arms made by Delton for $230 shipped. Seems those sales happen a couple times a year definetly keep an eye out poorfags. It's not amazing but it's "good enough". It came with basic skinny clamshell handguard I added the Midwest rail from the spare parts bin. Light and handy. Lowest I've ever seen an upper with charging handle and BCG that wasn't something retarded like BCA, radical firearms or Daytona tactical or whatever.
>>
>>62141087
Yeah I've seen people doing that which is what gave me the idea for my radio pouch. That's honestly the only pouch I need bungee type retention on. Might just steal a hair tie from muh wyfe when the rubber band snaps.
Type 56 mag pouches swallow magazines and AK mags don't fall out with flaps tucked. Even when running around the LARP range and jumping in and out of prone. Can't speak for gAyR mags though.

Kind of. I think I ordered so many because I figured some would be moldy or ruined but they were fairly nice. I do have that autistic urge to stockpile and be ready to arm a full squad in case of the end days. Every rifle should have a sling and a chest rig at the very least

>Every rifle should have a sling and a chest rig at the very least
True. Every chest rig needs some medical though.
You can fit 2 compressed gauze, 1 flat rolled ace wrap and a few yards of duct tape wrapped around an old gift card in a Chicom grenade pouch as well as mini sheers stuffed in the back and sticking out, mini sharpie stuffed inside and gloves on top held down by the flap and plastic from the gauze.
Attach TQ to weakside shoulder strap.
Make a duck tape pouch on the backside of the rig against your body directly behind the grenade pouch for a twin pack of chest seals and naso airway if you're so inclined.
Mark pouch with a duck tape cross.
I've been meaning to make an infographic of my IFAK setup for other Chicom Enthusiasts. You could also make a bunch of FannIFAKs but that's another piece of gear to don, doff and store.

The Leupold RDS if you want a normal red dot that mounts in your typical 34mm scope rings, you can also just pay a little (an extra hundred dollars) more for one that comes with good QD mounting rings to if you don't already have a pair laying around.

If you want a magnified optic on a shoe string budget then look into getting a Primary Arms SLx 3X MicroPrism. The benefit of those is you have a lot of out of the box mounts both high and low.

For meme tier nonsense and if you hate changing batteries then get a LaRue Tactical C-Note I guess.

I have mixed feelings about carry handles, some days I like them and on other days I'm indifferent to them but I don't like the idea of hacking one up to fit a cheap scope in it's place. What if your cheap optic breaks? What if you wanna swap your optic unto another gun? Then you just have fucked up sights a a Bubba'd up gun.
Aren't there any good or decent scopes or red dots that mount to the carry handle the same way the Trijicon ACOG 4x32 BAC Riflescope does? I'd much prefer that.

It's a detachable carry handle homie. You have to actively go out of your way to find permanent carry handles these days.
Also plenty of adaptors to put rails into permanent carry handles (above or goosenecked) so that any rail mounted dot can fit them.

SG550, multiple ACTUAL G36s, Vzs, AKMs, AK-74s, Krinks, multiple battle rifles, etc. And yet each one had at least one big annoyance that made me say “I should just buy an AR”. So fuck it. I’ve had my fun. It’s time to RETVRN to basic practical setups. I’m gonna basically do pic related with a CM4 lower, green furniture, an ACOG, etc. Something that I like, not for hipster brownie updoot points.

Oh neat, never mind. I just answered my own question.
Apparently Brownells not only makes a decent scope for carry handles BUT they make a clone accurate Colt issued 4x. They even went out of their way to track down the original sub contractors for help making them.
That's real nifty and a big retrofag builder W.

There's still a few floating around I think. Olympic Arms makes some or did I guess but I have no idea of OA is a good manufacturer or not and Bushmaster has a bunch but I'm almost certain 70% of those are lemons they're just trying to get rid of, all most all of those are sold is blemished in fact. I mean, a SMERSH, SORD rig, a simple TacTailor harness and belt or even a PLCE would be ok, and not THAT expensive.
If you want the GIGA-poor option, Leafland has a vest you can snag for like $40. Old issued soft “assault vest. Only comes in two sizes, can carry 4 mags, bayonet, front and back SAPI plates pouches, and has two massive rear pouches that kinda aren’t worth it. It’s not modular, but it is retro-cool.

Why not just an LBV 88 or modern surplus like TAPS chest rig or even a FLC? All cheap as fuck, especially modern gear that's in UCP that can be easily dyed. You can attain a fairly modern and gtg gear setup for dirt cheap and have it look like MARPAT or CADPAT for peak digital performance.

> Save a little extra so you can take her out shooting with your new purchase and out dinner after, then fuck her brains out.
>This is offical relationship advice.
Unneeded, but noted and based.
She gets frustrated with me for neglecting myself in terms of splurge buys so I doubt I’d ever need to convince her of purchases. She’s been pretty hesitant shooting the rifles, maybe a reasonably sized handgun might do the trick. Dad was a marine and she’s from a small town outside of Parris Island so I know she’s not entirely shy about military and gun shit even after moving to our liberal hellscape city.

Good. So you're in the clear to buy something for yourself. Stop worrying.

>She’s been pretty hesitant shooting the rifles
You know you and your girl better than any random on 4chan but I'd still recommend getting her out of her comfort zone a little bit with guns, followed by dinner and then fucking her brains out.
Remember that excited childish glee and a little bit of fear you felt when shooting relatively big guns when you were a kid (hopefully you shot when you were young)
Ignite that in her and plow.
My wife LOVES her 357 magnum 686. A decent size frame and barrel doesn't kick to hard even for her baby hands but it kicks just enough to get those juices flowing if you know what I mean.
Best of luck to you and your girl.

this is my first and quite minimalistic entry for home/street defense in an suburban area:
the middle european rooftop korean

belt/sks ammo pouches are soviet,
suspenders german democratic rep.
like 20 eurobucks altogether.

i plan to bring ammo on clips in the sks pouches. maybe ill put a nagant ammo pouch on the back of the belt with lose rounds, just in case.

what else could be of use?
an army bandaid and a tourniquet?
a radio?
water bottle? (tho i wont run far)

TQ honestly doesn't get in the way, I forget it's even there sometimes. The gloves, balaclava and sunglasses are worn or shoved in pants pockets or between rig and chest when not in use. Creature comforts for the range and to protect the identity of this operator during operations.
Danglers are trendy and kewl but I'm not so sure I would like a pouch over my stomach. I appreciate the suggestion though. I'll think about it.
How's the prone position with your type 81 dangler? Post pics of your rig ffs!

Get an IFAK refill kit from any reputable supplier and stuff as much of it into a pouch or fanny pack. Learn to use it.
Radios are nice to have. Get two so you can communicate with someone.
You can just throw a water bottle in you back pocket or get a canteen on a shoulder strap.
A flashlight is always handy.

>unsure if i want a plate carrier to take armor or not.
The /PFG/ meta is separate rig and plates. It's cheaper, you can buy and fill a chest rig while you save for plates and it offers more flexibility.
>minuteman capabilities. Grab chest rig and SKS and go inna woods real fast.

This graphic from the Brits explains it best.
>live from your pack
>fight from your belt
>survive from your jacket
It's simple, cheaper to start, easy to understand and makes a lot more sense than basing your entire loadout on a chest rig and belt for Minuteman activities. It's a lot more compatible with camping, outdoors activities and static defense than a plate carrier as base yet is compatible with a PC and/or chest rig.
>>
>>62144760
>92 a bit large for a CCW
Probably depends on how you carry. Or get a Cheetah or Nano.
>>
>>62144853
AIWB is my likely choice.

Makes sense, common problem. Just get whatever the poorfag special red dot is these days. I have a PA dot that is indestructible, I'm sure Sig and Vortex have decent options. I think I paid $120 but that was a few years ago. I'm not poor anymore so I have trijicon and aimpoint. They are much nicer but also much more expensive (thankfully used market is strong, that's the pro tip for durable gun parts).
>>
>>62144865
If you're skinny and wear your pants the right way. Personally I don't think a full frame handgun is needed for CC.
>>

I think you've misunderstood me.
I'm just saying start with the "belt order" and stack shit later when you have more money to add more capabilities like assault packs, rucks and armor
>Minuteman activities
That is priority IMO
We may not have the luxury to don all that shit when the enemy is at the gates.
You need to be able to grab your rifle and one or two pieces of kit you can quickly throw on to defend your area. That kit needs to have a little bit of everything so you can do operator shit NOW. Ammo, medical, radio, land nav, a little food, water, a poncho and woobie.
You may not even have time to put on your operator pants, boots, camo and two piece kewl kid belt. Which is why a disagree with keeping the main IFAK on a two piece belt.
Heck, you might not even have time to put on ANYTHING. Rock a jungle mag so you at least have a reload if all you can grab is your rifle when you have to ventilate joggers in your birthday suit.
Patrolling with a massive ruck sack in full camo and all your buddies is a very very niche scenario. You should still have that capability for the purposes of the 2A but the priority for poors on a budget is getting a rifle and a chest/belt rig and building towards a full kit like your pic related.
>>
>>62144264
If you really want to go full nigger rigging you can use a clamp to attach a flashlight to your barrel and zip tie a pressure switch onto the top handguard, completely non-permenant and gives you a light on your SKS.

Needs snacks, stuff a few of these in your kit. They're delicious and surprisingly don't have any corn syrups, canola oils, sunflower oils, or '''vegetable''' oils/sóybean oils in them. They're just made of dates and a few other simple normal ingredients, the chocolate ones are the best, granted I haven't tried all the flavors yet (because they have a lot) but I'd say the blueberry cashew one is a second favorite of mine.
If they're available in Euroland anyway...

You should also put a pair of foam in ear plugs in for casual range trips unless you also plan to pair this kit with a small backpack. Certainly helps on days when you forget to bring the dedicated full sized over ear headphones and you don't wanna drive all the way back home to get them.

I only have this photo of when I just finished it but I’ve since moved my baofeng into one of the grenade pouches and routed the mic up the shoulder like most do. For being DIY it does what I need it to do like hold my .22 bcg or medical with a bit of room to spare, I sewed some pockets into the velcro backing before putting it on the rig itself so I can slide maps and anything that I want to keep warm down behind the magazines. As for squirming around in the prone the velcro is super aggressive so no worries about it getting pulled out. It doesn’t dig into me since the magazine pouches are thicker and it doesn’t get in the way when sitting or kneeling which I honestly never even considered when making the thing.

You'll never regret getting a good used Singer. Get it serviced and oiled locally. Should be like $20 for a lube & check. You'll be darning holes in pants, patching holes in surplus, and retracing the stupid snapped or loose threads in M81 Aircrew clothes with ease in no time. If you can, get a machine with a couple stitch options. I like zigzag. The stitch that looks like:
|<
|<
|<
is real useful too; it lets you go over the seams of t-shirts, underwear, and swimwear as it would've been done in the factory making for a tough repair. Another thing to look out for is a physical reverse lever. I have a little press button like on a microwave and it gets annoying as it doesn't always register a tap vs press correctly.

>>
>>62133525

>>
>>62147060
Not a singer guy but they're worth okay money to someone no doubt. A lot of people take the singers off the stand to use the stand in some pseudo-rural/farmhouse style furniture so beware that if you want to sell it to someone who won't ruin it. Nice that yours is electric; a lot are foot pedal only. You could do a lot of your repairs on that thing and it should be easy to service, relatively. The drive belt looks like it's been replaced somewhat recently as it's rubber instead of leather (I know the foot pedal models used leather belts but not if the electric ones did). If the cord isn't rock hard, the only thing I'd do is get it serviced and put an insulator disc on that plug. They fall off extremely easy; I have a vintage lamp that's missing its disc. Otherwise you might have strands of copper wire poke out from the side of the plug while it's live. Fun! It should actually work well if all you need is straight stitches.

I don't know much about sewing machine prices; I'd probably put it in the $50-250 range. Not having the stand doesn't help and the muh farmhouse chic (paint everything white and ruin all character) crowd uses them for just about everything so naturally they're worth more than the machines AFAIK lol.
>>
>>62147060
>>62147128
>You could do a lot of your repairs on that thing
Oops, I kept that a little vague. Meaning most of your clothes repairs could be done on that thing even today as long as you don't have a ton of layers to sew through or need fancy stitches.

The quick and dirt run down;
Limbs get strapped (with a tourniquet to cut off blood supply)
Wounds get packed (with gauze) unless it's in the chest cavity DO NOT PACK THE CHEST CAVITY) typically junctional sites like shoulders, neck and pelvis where a tourniquet will not work)
Chests get slapped (with a chest seal which is essentially a big sticker to keep air from getting inside the chest which will hinder the lung from expanding)
Most everything gets wrapped (with a pressure bandage/ace wrap and/or tape)
You need a tourniquet, a couple pacls of gauze, chest seals and some wraps.
Simple as. Cover those basics and you have a working IFAK.
You can get a naso airway to keep the casualties airway open if they fall unconscious or use the recovery position.
An emergency milar blanket helps keep casualties warm which helps them form blood clots, which is harder if their temp drops below normal.
Watch some videos on how to use all this shit.

NTA but I have a surplus earplug case with some inside I keep in the car. Even if I totally forget them (it's happened, usually when going to the range rather than needing them hunting thankfully) I still have that as a backup.

I keep foam ear plugs in the utility pouch of my chicom since it's essentially a worn range bag.
I also keep some Zyn in a little plastic case stuffed in my gloves and I'm going to shove some military energy gum in there when I open a MRE that had some in it.
Caffeine gum, nicotine pouches (if you're a fiend), anti diarrhea and water purification tabs are some small "creature comforts" that can be added to any kit for almost zero space to keep you going and even save your heck'n lifearino.
Everything an LARPerator needs.
>>

One thing I forgot is medical sheers. You might need to cut away clothing to properly gain access to a wound and something
I know this guy is memes but this video breaks down the basics of what I'm talking about for the layman pretty well
https://youtu.be/noP4g_RNuWA?si=Ilyx1TkRvpe0jKGP
Make sure your buddies/wife knows at least the basics outlined in this video because you may not be able to administer first aid to yourself.
Watch a few more videos, especially on wound packing. You have to get your fingers and the gauze into the wound to put pressure on the artery you're leaking from in order to stop the bleeding.
Get something like this https://www.rescue-essentials.com/tccc-ifak-refill-module/ if it's available for purchase in your europoor country. Stuff it in a pouch or fanny pack and you've got your base covered

I feel like there is more to life than being poor. Am I wrong for feeling this way? A good car, mechanically sound, motorcycle or quad for bavkup. A decent wardrobe, layers and weatherproofed. Good food stocks, a 1-3 month pantry. Fair hygiene supplies, tp, asprins, ect goes with pantry stocks. Your library, makes sense to have books, soft, hard or cyber. Yeah it's sad they got there but good and decent people shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes. All the "humane" attempts at helping them just cause more needles on the ground in parks and smashed windows. Former addict here. That was me 15yrs ago.
However, >>62150525 does have a point.
Back in the 90s I was a pharmaceutical sales rep. Purdue patented OxyContin (oxycodone) during my time as a sales rep. They pushed this shit HARD as being less addictive than other pain management medication to doctors, while including some outrageous incentives to said doctors for writing scripts for it. I believe it was originally classified as a schedule 3/cIII narcotic. Meaning it wasnt that hard to get a script for. Once it was made a sch 2/cII, it became a lot harder to get. So now all of these people hooked on this poison are jonesing for a fix. At the time, hydrocodone (Lortab, Lorcet, Vicodin, and now Norco) were only CIII narcotics and easier to get. The streets were flooded with hydrocodone. Sure, oxy was available on the street if you knew the right people, but hydro was cheaper and easier to come by.
Fast forward to 2014 when the feds finally figured out there was a problem that nobody wanted to acknowledge and made hydrocodone a C2 as well. At this point, both are hard to come by on the street or get scripts for. At this time for a couple of years, heroin started seeing a big boom among junkies because 1. It was easier to find, and 2. It was cheaper.
It wasn't up until the last few years when Chinese labs started synthesizing fent massively, and the Mexican cartels started buying it from them and flooding our streets with it. Fent is not only dangerously addictive, but also about 50x stronger than heroin. Fent is also has a much shorter mechanism of action compared to heroin (30-60m vs a couple of hours). So fent junkies need the next fix sooner.
No, I did not work for Purdue.
Fun fact: A pharmacy's cost for a 1,000 count bottle of Vicodin back in 1996 was $20.

Yes, personally I'd also ditch the Y-suspenders and either use the older H-shaped ones or LBV shoulder pads with some webbing, or get a britbong PLCE kit. Alice belt with Y-straps likes to rotate around your midriff the moment you start crawling, with the buttpack eventually ending up under your belly. Also the bong style of canteen pouches keeps sand and pine needles out of your canteen cup, unlike the ALICE pouch.

I went a step further and attached some PALS webbing on an old bong hip pad (PLCE belt comforter).

Basic PLCE harness.
Unfortunatelly this is a Kombat brand knockoff I got from some eshop cause it was marked as "unused surplus". Stitching is decent but the webbing is shiny and the plastic parts feel brittle.
Gonna replace it sooner or later with real deal, but at that moment I will probably make a better version of the padded belt as well.
>>
>>62147005
That’s the same as my surp store, but the fucked pouches that are that price are too bent to work with my pmags, it’s the plastic sheet they have in the front to keep the pouch rigid that’s causing it

what is it about pfg that attracts assmad retards?
>>
>>62146377
Exactly. IDK why people assume obsolete == totally ineffective.

It'll still kill good if it hits but both the Garand and the .30-06 cartridge have been outclassed in every way by newer cartridges and platforms that took the learnings from both and improved greatly upon them.

>>62152278
My CMP Rack Garand was the best investment I ever made. Sure, better, newer shit exists. But there is something magical about the flow of putting the m1 through her paces.

It’s deeply satisfying to shoot. I’ve been trying to get my hand on a m1 carb but the few times I had the chance, I was too slow and it was sold to some other fudd.
>>
>>62152359
I'm not the other retard you've been arguing with
>>
>>62152235

I think its that Glow ones don't want discussion about us arming our fellow anons with 20 inch rifles that can cook through plates and vehicles. The more COMMRADES we have armed the better off we will be when we the communist revolution of the CONUS take power back from the Scum sucking capitalist Dogs.

PHewww!
>>

>>62151912
Heat them a little and try to flatten it via bending. Nothing crazy, just try the hair dryer on hot at first, bend it by hand when warm, keep it there, and if needed, then stuff it full with a shaped block or aluminum mags or something for a while to see if it sets. I've fixed (actual brand name) Tupperware the same way. Feels very similar, like it's also LDPE, maybe HDPE. Or ALICE pouches don't work with PMAGS, I dunno, it's entirely possible.
>>
>>62151912
Fug by "keep it there" I meant keep it in that position after taking the heat off. May need to bend it past flat to get the bend fully out. Eating and trying not to make my keyboard (more of) a mess while also watching something.

The Garand is a beautiful machine. Someday I’ll commit to buying a derivative. Last I checked, CMP of any grade almost all sold out and what’s left is over $1K+. Too much to rationalize.
The M1A is stupid expensive sadly. $1.5K min outside of lucky breaks.
I desperately, irrationally want the Scout model. Hard to justify as it would stay almost entirely a safe queen. The hefty little thing is the right size for me.
>>62152720
Nothing here matters unless you do dumb shit and end up on the news or something.
>violating a protection order
>>
>>62153331
One off. The issue I have is 2A is more at risk when zealots spout their garbage. It poisons the well and makes a reasonable middle ground fall apart because they’ll never agree to most basic shit. Red flag laws save lives, it has a vanishingly low false report rate, and even lower false conviction rate. Between cases dropped, exonerations, and misconduct at trials, it just doesn’t impact innocent owners in any statistically significantly way.
It does help keep schizoids and human trash from being a danger to themselves and others. It’s mostly others I care about. Same fraction of society who is always a problem.
