First trial of a laser weapon on a british army land vehicle - HELW on Wolfhound. Posting all media that exists of this so far. Calling it HELhound for shits and giggles.

Why did the British make a big deal out of this again? This is just an American weapon on an American truck.
>>62135037Where is the radar? Or it gets info on drone location from other systems?
>>62135037how long til we get a laser that can explode a person into pink mist instantaneously?
>>62136543gm, may the wraith of saddam hussein descend upon you and feed you to his undead steed, saturn the alligator
>>62135037Bet this vehicle alone cost like 1000 fpv dronesBetter to spam enemy before they can spam you
>>62135037The state of british procurement and R&D. Why the fuck is the test vehicle still carrying all that heavy ass rpg fence armour and a turret
>>62136703>Bet this vehicle alone cost like 1000 fpv dronesis it not worth protecting the things that cost far more???
>>62136703somtim u haf thing in placething no can movablesometims you of hafing pplppl must man in choochoo automobil gehenfor reason
>>62136732>things that cost far moreJust convert into fpv drones and thing how much more enemies you can kill with that
>>62136703>cost like 1000 fpv dronesProbably way more. And I don't think something like this would be ideal against drones. Just the reflections from the laser of this caliber are dangerous as fuck. You couldn't target objects flying at tree/ground level for that reason, unless you were in totally desolate environment for huge ranges. But I don't know, it could probably pick them from very far flying in. Then it could work
>>62136760We've taken the reflections out of the environment.
>>62136688Are you alright?
>>62135074If they can miniaturize it. In 10 years, we'll have 300kw lasets on autonomous tracked drone tanks with AI capabilities that auto delete drones in the air.
>>62135037Just a second, if we take something like the Shahed drone and we observe it from the front, we would see that everything critical to that drone is obscured from this line of sight. With this knowledge in mind, a simple and obvious modification to the drone is possible, a reflective coating on the surfaces facing forward. Now that you have a reflective drone, with some angles changed for good measure, you can look at the ranges of these weapons and then plan out a strike trajectory for the drone where it arches up beyond the range of the DEW and then when it has a clear line of sight, it goes for the DEW completely straight with no deviations. The DEW will be ineffective if the angles and the material are sufficiently capable, resulting in a kill against the DEW for the drone.
>>62136920You are retarded. No such concept exists and it will take more than 10 years to field it.
>>62136709>why is the test vehicle configured to emulate real world conditions
>>62136934>plan out a strike trajectory for the drone where it[...]i wonder if by mounting these systems on a truck they intend to move them. its possible also that there might be more than one, for example situated such that one can defend the other. there's also of course the question of a shahed's ceiling height and the DEW's effective range.
>>62136703>Bet this vehicle alone cost like 1000 fpv drones>Better to spam enemy before they can spam youThis kind of "spam cheap stuff" brainrot is a plague. The reason cheap and quick to produce weapons are so attractive is because there isn't much danger of a shortage. An industrial society can produce them faster than they are used, the initial stockpile only needs to last until wartime production is brought up.Having a robust laser defense system to protect high value targets is something that takes time and a large investment beforehand. They can't just make thousands a day like they can drones. In a war between a nation who stockpiles way to many cheap drones and one that invests in these expensive systems, both sides will quickly be up to their eyeballs in drones, producing more than they can use but only one will have hundreds of laser defense systems following every valuable target.
