hey bros i’m looking at 2 pistols rn. beretta bobcat in .22 and an uberti saa in 9mm. anyone have anything to say about either good or bad?

So, 4th post. Revolvers are handguns and there's been nothing wrong with these OPs apart from a mixed up number that was fixed and no cumbrain backdrops.

The Bobcat is fun if overpriced. A 9mm Uberti sounds like fun, and being a SAA means no moon clips. Buy both.
>>
Ah no actual complaints about revolvers but here the little revolver gang complains about the people complaining about revolvers. You guys are insufferable. Worse than Berettafags since they post guns they own

Not all revolverfags though. Just the ones who need everyone to know they made revolvers their whole personality
>>
>>62141162
The Beretta is neat if you get it with a threaded barrel and a can that weighs less than the gun it's attached to, the Uberti is probably going to be more fun, especially since it avoids the extraction problems of other 9mm revolvers since you're poking the cases out with a stick either way.
>>
>>62141191
Actually, yes there was. This thread, the last thread, the thread before that. Stop whining.

>>62141180
Of all the stupid shit, an on topic non-troll OP is making people flip their shit. People can't be happy and just enjoy handguns and revolvers.

>>
>>62141214
Rhinos feel (and are) pretty chintzy for how expensive they are, the trigger pull is meh and don’t shoot hot rounds out of it if you value your fingers.
>>
>>62141221
A Python is lovely, pricey, very good. The Rhino is uniquely designed to remove your hand if anything ever goes wrong.

>>62141221
Smiths have the best trigge4s out the box
>>
>>62141231
New Smiths don’t, they’re pretty on par with the nicer Rugers.
>>
>>62141214
The Rhino is a cheap aluminum-frame gun that puts the firing chamber right next to your fingers and has eaten multiple end-users' hands already.

>>62141221
The Python is expensive for what it is but it's functional and looks as good as it looks, so you probably won't be disappointed.
I'd recommend an Anaconda, since they look about the same as a Python and .44 Magnum is more fun.

It's true, most pocket-sized 22s are either trash, overpriced, manufacturer after-thoughts, or actual novelties. There are highlights, not everything is trash, but it's a shit category. The Taurus PT-22 is a piece of shit, the LCR 22 is too expensive, the HP22A borders on novelty and its cousins from Lorcin/Jimenez/Jennings/Bryco/Sundance are all trash, and the LifeCard, the NAA Mini Revolvers, the Ounce, the Switch, all novelty guns.

The LCPII 22 is really not bad, but roughly the same price as the Bobcat with none of the sovl.

The generic term is a 'grip adapter'. The Tyler T-Grip is the most famous, though Pachmayr and I think some other companies made similar products. The one on that revolver is from a guy who goes by BK grips. He casts them himself from resin, and while they're not as pretty they are 100% functional and after having bought four or five from him over the years I can say he's a great guy to do business with.

A trigger guard 'holster' was what I was thinking of. This is a 100% retarded idea. But I was thinking that you could use a bungee sling, and the trigger guard cover tied to your belt would hold it against your side to keep it from flopping around.
>>
>>62142271
Yeah, doesn’t seem like the most efficient. I suppose realistically speaking, with a little training, you could do like a jacket, single point adjustable sling, and a holster. That would require you to unzip, fling your jacket out of the way, adjust the strap then pull I suppose.
>>
>>62142349
I was thinking bungee sling to avoid needing to adjust the strap, you could just fire it one handed kinda like the old MP5 technique.

There are still some hammer guns that come with a attachment point at the heel. I couldn't really come up with uses other than a retention cord or hanging trinkets off it, but a single point sling would make a lot of sense in a "I have to attach something here" sort of way.

>>
Huh? It seems they discontinued the 911. That's not a good sign.
>>
What’s your logic with practice vs duty/carry ammo? The way I see it, I can 1) try to match the performance of my duty ammo to the practice ammo I use or vice versa, or 2) I can zero for duty/carry ammo, then just be okay with my practice ammo being off the mark.

Thoughts? Also I’ve always been curious if there was any way I could match the grain between practice and hollowpoints and have a reasonably small zero shift.

>In a car, dumbass. The seat belt gets in the way
Yeah, user error. The seatbelt goes behind the holster, retard. Seatbelts are designed to tension around your hip bones in the event of a crash. Having a holster and gun being pushed into your organs due to having the belt in front of it will fuck you up. You'd know this if you had done the smallest amount of research

You touched on why they were rejecting solvent traps. The ATF says they're functionally the same as the base for a modular suppressor, which is still the registered suppressor even if it has no baffles or anything else and is basically just a thread adapter. So that's how they treat solvent traps, if you want to register one as a suppressor then as far as they're concerned it already is one, and they don't issue tax stamps for suppressors after purchase. I blame the Chinese, because they started selling full blown suppressor kits, whole suppressors labeled as "solvent traps" or "fuel filters" either totally complete or just requiring you to drill a single hole, and that's when the ATF decided they'd had enough. You can thank kits like picrel selling for <$20 from China, which is still available btw, but there is absolutely no legal way to register it. It's all a fat load of shit of course, but that's the situation with solvent traps. Here's the most recent real publication we have pertaining to it: https://www.atf.gov/file/186521/download

I shoot Winchester Service Grade since it’s basically M1152 (military’s new round, 115 gr 1300 fps, +P if not a little hotter) since you can also buy Winchester Defender High Pressure 147 gr JHP (only from SGammo) where it’s the military’s M1153 (147 gr Ranger T like projectile with +P loading, ~1000 fps) where it will have the same impact as the Winchester Service Grade at least at 7 yards.

I believe Speer does lawman where the FMJ and JHP are engineered to have the same POI. If you’re shooting the same velocity and same grain you shouldn’t get that much deviation

Personally I’ve been considering 115 gr Winchester Defender since it’s cheap (40 cpr) for my shorter barrel 9mms, also lower recoil than M1153/M1152 but I’m very invested in M1152
>>
>>62142084
There's a use case for attaching a lanyard to your pistol so you don't lose it forever because you dropped it off the side of a boat/helicopter/motorcycle, but 99.9% of the time it's just going to snag on shit and get in your way and you'd be better served by a holster with active retention features like a thumb snap.

Classic ATF circular logic. If you want to turn this into a suppressor then it must already be a suppressor. What a soul less toad you must be to work at the ATF
>>
>>62143983
>suppressor config
If it Comes with what the ATF might construe to be baffles already inside the tube your gonna be in for a bad time
>>
>>62144113
So you sit with the barrel of your gun driven into your crotch, barrel aimed into your femoral and/or iliac?

>>62144127
Why play dumb, why pretend you can't tell the difference? Yes, ATF bad, but if you buy a suppressor that's labeled as something else but is still obviously a suppressor, the fuck do you expect?
>>
>>62144140
Unlike you our guns don’t randomly go off
>>
>>62144153
It's a Sig, you might want to reconsider.
>>
>>62144140
>So you sit with the barrel of your gun driven into your crotch, barrel aimed into your femoral and/or iliac?
correct, in fact it is undoubtedly the most popular carry location in modern times due to redundant safety systems on handguns and kydex holsters
>>
>>62144190
Generally when I see AIWB demonstrated you sit with it positioned so the barrel points out and away from your body, not into your thigh. I also don't see how one would do that with a compact or really anything without a 4"+ barrel, so maybe that's why I'm confused.
>>
>>62143950
Ok, so if I can’t buy something like that, then why can’t I buy something like pic rel, and buy a tube, and thread the tube? Could I legally buy a thread adapter with threads on the inside? Would that be totally legal?
Or would that fall under manufacturing a supressor? Doesn’t that require a license? Then how and for what purpose can someone legally file a form 1 to register a supressor?
All the legit “supressors” labeled as “supressors” have such a huge markup, it’s ridiculous.
>>
>>62144311
>Or would that fall under manufacturing a supressor?
Yes, which is perfectly legal.
>Doesn’t that require a license?
Nope.
>Then how and for what purpose can someone legally file a form 1 to register a supressor?
It's a tax, anon. You pay the tax BEFORE you buy or build the suppressor. If you want to build a suppressor, fill out a Form 1, get your tax stamp, then build the suppressor.
>>
>>62144329
does each suppressor need a stamp? can you buy a stamp before purchasing a suppresor? sorry, am tarded
>>
>>62144329
Can I fill out a form 1, then buy the solvent trap anon posted?
>>
>>62144366
Yes, each suppressor needs a stamp. Yes, you buy the stamp before purchasing the suppressor, that's not optional. You should learn about suppressors and ownership in the US before getting into the idea of making them. It's not complicated, it's not hard, the whole thing is faster and easier now than it's been for the last 3 decades. You're paying a tax to get a tax stamp, a tax stamp is a piece of paper that says you paid your tax, you need your tax stamp to legally purchase or produce a suppressor.

>>62144380
No. There is no circumstance in which an American can order one of those legally. https://www.atf.gov/file/186521/download
Read nigga, read.
>>
>>62144366
The stamp is for a specific suppressor, down to the serial number, just like a 4473 is for a specific gun, and has to be obtained in conjunction with a specific can accordingly.
>>
>>62144311
I should add, if you want to turn those thread adapters into a suppressor, then you need your tax stamp before you buy them. As far as the ATF is concerned, those ARE suppressors the moment you purchase them knowing they will become part of a suppressor. It's fucking retarded as fucking fuck, but better to know it than to give some ATF cuck a reason to visit you.
>>
>>62144417
Ahh ok, I see. Thanks anon! I just bought a surplus Glocky Glank Glonk (waiting for them to ship), so I’m not buying anything else atm, but I appreciate the clarification on that.
Definitely gonna look into filing a form 1, then making my own. I mean honestly, how hard could it be to make a suppressor?
A thread, a tube, and a handful of washers?

I really wanted to like moon clips but the only way to carry them safely without any chance of bending them is in a speed loader pouch. I mean it’s unlikely that they’ll bend loose in the pocket but why take that chance and lock up your gun? Or just use a tried and true speed loader. I wonder if half moon clips bend less, they probably do, I don’t remember reading any issue with the 1917

You won't have a baffle strike unless the FH or silencers aren't screwed on tightly, but even if you did, a welded 5.56 baffle stack could take a lil popgun .22 going a piddly 1,200 fps

>>62145011
It's ackshually the 686 or Security Six, since unlike the K-frames they just work and won't shit themselves if you shoot too much .357 out of them.
>>
>>62145118
So very incorrect. The thread alignment could be off same with either shoulders. It's good practice to check with a low tolerance steel rod, but you can risk it by betting it's on straight or eyeballing it.
>>
>>62145202
They weren't nearly as popular for police carry.
By the time the L frame came out in 80-81, LEOs were beginning to switch to autos. Those that weren't making the switch didn't collectively opt to upgrade.
>>
>>62145216
It's rare that a US made firearm-related thread is off enough to cause a baffle strike. Yeah it CAN happen, with any of the multiple thread interfaces between the chamber and end cap, but it's more likely that not being tightened to the shoulder would cause a baffle strike than a manufacturing defect would. I have precision ground rods to check too, and I do check, and nothing's ever been even remotely close to that off kilter enough to make this a worry in my mind (anymore, after buying and using rods)
>>
>>62145279
It's rare isn't the same as you won't, if you get what I'm trying to say. The only way to know is to use a rod. Then, as long as you screw things on tightly, should the alignment be consistent ie not needing to check the same barrel multiple times.
>>
>>62145288
That shouldn't need to be said.

The idea, for me, would be to pocket carry it with the safety on, no holster. It would be the side pocket of Duluth cargo pants and shorts. It would get the pocket to itself, and it's hidden by items in the pocket over it.
The thing is, that safety better be really solid. I'm not sure how easy it would be for it to accidentally disengage, especially with it being ambi.

1-2 MOA is optimal, 3-5 is "okay", 6+ is trash
The only benefit that larger red dots have is faster target acquisition, but you can easily mitigate that with a smaller dot by getting good at drawing/presenting your gun
Smaller red dots, on the other hand, are objectively better for precision + long range which can't be accounted for unless you're shooting at familliar steel targets
Red vs green is 90 percent just aesthetics, but all else being equal you should get green dots since they stand out better. There's a good reason why green is the most popular color for fiber optic sights

Green dots are made to help people with astigmatism, if you don't have it you don't need to pay extra for that feature. A bigger dot will allow you to see the dot at a lower brightness level. The higher the brightness level the more the dot will be distorted by your astigmatism, so if you are one of us who suffers from the stigism you should get a larger dot.

Larger dots, and reticles that are very large and busy like the holosun circle crosshair, are harder to use for distance shooting as the reticle covers most of the target. If you have astigmatism and a 2moa dot on max brightness appears to be 20moa to your eyes that may be a tradeoff you are willing to make.

firearm sales require more than just putting a thing in a box, they need to confirm the destination is a valid FFL, they need to log the exact serial number of the gun that's leaving in the black box with SOP to have two witnesses to make sure there is no issue since if they get it wrong then the ATF comes and shoots them and then revokes their license. Under Biden the ATF have looked for any reason they can to revoke people's licenses, minor paperwork mistakes have put shops in the bullseye. They need to do this for the hundreds of guns they sell a day or whatever

What are some of your weird highlights other than expensive German stuff? I recall you posting a deal once to some South African thing. I myself like to keep an eye on the Kareen market
>>
Can regular USP without the funnel use the jet funnel mags? I managed to get one made in 1994 when I was born so it's only got a 10 round mag to it and I want a mag thats not made of polymer.
>>
>>62147019
holy fuck you goddamn retard, you ever think for 2 seconds that yours isnt the only order that they have to ship? that they have to
>GET THROUGH THE ORDERS BEFORE YOU
>get your FFL copy
>verify your FFL
>print label/package gun
>enter the transfer in their system (i have to assume theyre using a digital bound book) along with an outbound transfer form
>and then put it in their outbound shipments
and did you ever consider that these things take fucking time? if youre gonna be this much of a sperg, just go buy in person only, youre one of those faggots that get a delay on their background check and call in every 3 hours asking for an update after being told that you would be called when it gets updated
>>
>>62147216
>get a delay on their background check
Imagine not having a ccw permit lmao
>>
>>62147239
I was the anon that asked, but I had a ccw, just stopped using it. My state stopped requiring them anyway.
>>
>>62147239

>>
>>62147336
>>62147257
Mine also has constitutional carry, a permit also gives you reciprocity with other states however and you get to skip the background checks when making a firearm purchase. Imagine not knowing this

I’m glad someone did it, that guy is like an annoying 5 year old asking on December 21st if it’s Christmas yet every 5 minutes. Like holy shit have you never order online before?

>Uh but actually my Amazon is next day
Shut the fuck up.
>>
>>62147379
Also cops are nicer if you hand them it even in constitutional carry as then they know you’re definitely a lawful carrier.
Also Karens are less bothered if you show them.

Got to finger fuck a bodyguard 2.0 today guys and oh no no that trigger is so bad. It's nowhere close to the other M2.0 triggers. Slide serrations and weight are good though. Also saw a guy pick up a PX4 because he tried one at the range and liked it. Based.

>>62147570
Yeah they got really mad for no reason but chill bro it'll be fine. This guy is right though >>62147216 lots of paperwork. Though most digital bound book software is pretty quick.

Man the px4 felt like an absolute wide brick in my hand. The guy at the counter also said it felt bulky.
>>
>>62147766
It's thinner than the 92 by little bit, the 92 has a better contour maybe because of the grip panels, the flatness of the PX4 does not do it any favors. They were probably chasing making the gun as thin as possible since people complained the 92 was too wide.
>>
>>62147797
Did they also have to make it as slippery as possible? Almost feels polished.

>>62147801
The grip texture is such fucking dogshit that they even include talon grips in the box on some models. Mind blowing levels of stupidity. Also if your grip is too aggressive just sand it down.
>>
>>62147801
They hired a professional concept designer to design the appearance of the 90-Two, PX4, CX4 (the carbine thing), and the Benelli MR1, you know. A guy who designs those stupid impractical concept cars and retarded fashion.

Fucking italians. They do have this space age look to them though.

That's funny, I had the opposite experience because I was comparing it to my other pocket pistols, and they all have horrible triggers.

I took the cheap option.
After I get a government gig I’ll get a colt gov.
Tisas is unironically the best home defense 1911 as you can afford to lose it but it’s almost as good as the higher end 1911s.

I decided to start cheap before trying a new type of gun. And I actually really like 1911s now. I’ve seen colt govs in 38super at good prices. Paul likes them. Maybe I’ll try one.

No, I said the Tisas was fat when it first came because it had thicker than spec grips.
So I bought surplus military grips and now it handles good.
It still is significantly fatter than the 1908 but still thin enough to one hand easily and the oval grip shape makes it point natural.
So no, it’s already my favorite big gun and I don’t really expect it to be pocket sized nor would it be pleasant to shoot if it were. It’s an easily handled relatively powerful big gun.

I got the almost from hikhok’s take. I want a cheap 1908 clone so I’m not afraid to use it.
>>
>>62147883
Ok yes I didn't compare it to other pocket pistols, I've held LCPs before but never felt the urge to dryfire it lol. It might be better than others. It's just not a great trigger like I expected. It's definitely shockingly light though.

>>62147940
NTA but I wouldn't consider them almost as good either. Fitment issues from factory, poor slide to frame fitment, etc. They're not bad though.

Has Colt managed to improve their 1911s in the past few years? I've been meaning to pick up one of their stainless guns as I don't have a 1911 yet and I'm not looking to spend Dan Wesson money just yet.

I disagree because every semi auto handgun i fire feels the same and is rather boring, whereas revolvers can be unique and go up to really big cartridges and look cool and feel cool and using a revolver means you have a gargantuan sized cock and greasy balls
