what if we attached bombs to tiny drones and shot those at the enemy instead of bullets

What if you stopped shitting up the board with your retarded slide threads?
>>
>>62143832
Anon… there are countless videos of Ukrainians blowing up Russians with small explosive laden drones. Where have you been the past couple years?
>>
>>62143894
He's clearly talking about a different scale of drone
>>
>>62143894
havent seen anything under a 7 incher class used in war

these are the builds they use
https://nicedrones.notion.site/13cc6b42b0104da4847bc2a7e4a800c9
>>
>>62143904
Let it be known that 7 inches is well above average and a 5 inch is more than capable of doing the job
>>
>>62143904
I get by fine with my 3 incher
>>
>>62143904
Balancing act of how much of a payload they can carry and what kind of flight time they can achieve and shit. Kind of pointless to throw a firecracker at the target from a couple dozen feet away and shit.
>>
>>62143911
yea my babyape was my favorite drone for a while
dirt fucking cheap and fun to fly

small bombs you say?!

Macross missile barrage

He ain’t talking about drones

its fully autonomous bro
>>
>>62143919
Also given the input lag it’s probably harder to get a smaller drone to hit someone with the accuracy needed for a small explosive. It’s a difference of a volume measured in inches vs a volume measured in yards.

with modern FPV firmwares and radios control latency is fully undetectable by a human. the most common links used have latencies of under 10ms and video latencies of under 40ms

perdix drones are kinda shit actually performance-wise

this whole experiment uses mostly off the shelf components. you could recreate it with DIY drones running with inav + a laptop with an ELRS radio giving them waypoints on the fly.

those are very big however, 270 grams. i was talking about drone that weight like 3 5.56 rounds

Mine is heat seeking.

WHAT if we developed the bomb/payload first and the drone later
>>
>>62145174
bombs can pretty much be scaled to any size, same with drone engines and frame. the only thing of fixed size is the electronics on the board

Swiss Robotix has tested mini shaped charges with a 3 gram charge on ballistic skulls because of this vid.

Would be plenty to brain a guy, so that would definitely work.

>what if we attached bombs to tiny drones and shot those at the enemy instead of bullets

why would we shoot drones at bullets?
nice dangling participle retard
>>
>>62145228
i wonder if the whole thing is 3 grams or it requires a lot of external power to detonate and if that can be miniaturized or made with some kind of contact fuze.

3 grams is the weight of the buzzer (with it's own independent battery, for finding the drone in case of a crash) on my 40 gram quad. if this thing can detonate from a 5V voltage i can integrate it on my drone in 10 mins tops with some hot glue and 2 solders + mess with the flight controller and radio controller settings
>>
>>62145328
the test thing has two cables and what looks to be a blasting cap, but part of weaponizing micro drones would be developing micro explosives with detonators suited to the requirements of micro drones. imho an efp would work even better than a jet, you could command detonate it via sensor from a few meters away and get a guaranteed headshot. put a 4g copper plate in there and you get a 22lr at mach 4.

I tried showing mine to a group of younglings but they got scared and now I cant come within 300ft of an elementary school

so it's just a very thin wire getting hot and detonating the explosives? i really dont what they usually use in blasting caps.

you can just connect the drone's battery to the detonator via one of these PWN relays. the drone's flight controller can output PWM signals from the radio (usually used by people to control camera tilt or drop things from the drone with a servo) so you can control this tiny charge and the whole payload wont be more than say 10 grams
>>
>>62143832
That's exactly what's happening.
>>
>>62145951
High explosives need an initiator. Simple burning isn't enough. And that initiator is your detonator which is relatively inexpensive and a one time use.
>>
>>62144616
With Ardupilot everything is already there. FAA doesn't allow the the controlling if a drone from an aircraft, nor do they allow dropping objects from aircraft. FAA is basically no fun allowed.
>>
>>62146016
To expand, of you're having any kinds of fun with drones the FAA, FCC and ATF all get super butthurt.
>>
>>62146016
i drop shit all the time
simple servo with a hook on the bottom of the drone

started using it to throw sticklights when i realized i kinda suck at freestyling the drone

Whenever I watch somebody freestyling I don't like the random flips. Disorienting. Sure it isn't when you're the one in control.

looks fun as fuck imo

dont tell em

as long as you dont fly around people/over people's property or are an asshole in general nobody's ever going to hear about it.

the people who get in trouble are usually the ones who upload vidoes of it. ive heard of an australian dude getting fined for flying beyond line of sight because he made a video and said where he was/was showing coordinates on screen and people snitched.

but plenty do this and cover up the location like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fidq5O3IvZs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJeTSvX5jrA

(long range radio control tests clearly breaking range/line of sight regulations in the countries they were made in but people arent being stupid so they didnt get busted)
