How mags you got for all your guns. I have 23 for my AK (10 and 30 round mags combined), 30 Glock mags (15-33 rounds combined), but I only have 2 for some of my guns, including my carry gun (LCP).

Do you have a minimum number of mags you like to have for your firearms, or would one do it for some of them?

If you are some sort of collector than just do you. However practically, you only need 4 to 5 pistol mags, and maybe 8 to 10 rifle mags. And some of those are just for replacements.

all of them

You want a lifetime supply for you, your kids, and your grandkids. I probably spent $4k on mags before my state passed a >10rd ban. And I was well stocked before then. I have cases of surefeeds.

>your kids, and your grandkids
I'd hope that my kids, and definitely my grandkids, would have access to space age technology that can just make good mags.

Bare minimum:
Twice what your chest rig or plate carrier can carry for your defensive gun (or ten).
Five for hunting guns.
For ccw pistol magazines.
For range toys or otherwise non serious use guns, three is okay.

I have at least 2 mags for each of my guns and no more than 4 for any specific one. I don't kick them around in the dirt so they last a very long time.

What about using mags for ammo storing? Not really worried about the springs or strength of the material, I've left super cheap, all polymer Glock mags loaded for a year before firing them without any issues. Just wonder if people think that's a good practice or if you do it with some mags, but not others.
>>
>>62146509
All my mag-fed guns have a full mag loaded at all times, so there's one. For my carry pistol i have the loaded carry mag, a loaded mag in the car, a loaded mag in my backpack, a loaded mag in my nightstand, and an extra loaded mag floating around that i sometimes slip in my pocket, so that's 5 loaded at all times, then I have 5 spare mags unloaded that i use for range trips. 5 isn't the limit though, I'll buy more periodically.
For my AR I have 7 loaded mags and I think 30 unloaded mags; always buying more. I have like 30-ish speed trips loaded with .38spl carry ammo scattered around the house& the car in various drawers& such
>>
3 for each handgun and as many as I can get for AR. I always tend to grab one on my way out of fleet farm every month or so.
I have one magazine for a 350 legend but that's cause it's for hunting and 10 rounds is enough

>at least 2 no more than 4
I guess I'm getting into a range of people who have more than average (compared to most gun owners) but no more than 4? Even for something like an AR where you could have 30rd and 20rd mags? If it's a gun I really like I strive to have at least 5. Ideally I'd have something like:
>25 20rd AR mags (ideally Okays, may pick up vintage here and there, kinda N+1)
>20 30rd AR mags (N+1 situation here plus autistic collecting of variants)
>15-25 BX-15s for 10/22 to keep need for reloading at range and need to clean dirty mags down; nothing worse than loading in the heat or loading resulting in wasting time resulting in having to share the range on a day where you haven't seen a single other person
>5-10 Beretta mags
>5-10 Ruger MK mags
>vintage gun mags: N+1 when you see them cheap because you either get a gun with one or no mag and you're fucked if it breaks.
I'm nowhere near >>62146960 though, holy shit lol. Also I like grabbing 20s when I can because even my Okay I use for hunting is getting real worn and rough looking even from only maybe 3 years of light use hunting. Mags wear. Parts break. Make sure you have enough that you won't regret not getting more.

>All my mag-fed guns have a full mag loaded at all times
that's the most retarded, unsafe, and entirely pointless thing I've ever read.
>>
>>62147450
That's not a hard rule or anything for me, I just have never ended up needing more than 4. Even if I got more, I only bring all 4 of my current mags with me when I shoot IDPA matches in case one breaks. Otherwise, I just bring two or three to the range. If I was buying a gun with proprietary mags, I would stock up in case the gun stops being made suddenly, but when most of my guns are respected guns with big aftermarkets, I'm not too worried. Even if all spare mags spontaneously disappeared from shelves forever, I've shot a lot of guns with magazines older than me and I have yet to see them give me one problem.

Yea I don’t encourage panic buying, but you really should stock up on mags ASAP. Tbh if you have the money, buy one of those 100-packs of pmags (gen 3)

that's the word I'd use to describe someone so paranoid they need EVERY single mag fed gun loaded lol. what the fuck scenario is gonna need you to have more than your main weapons ready? why the fuck would you need your 6 goofy plinking 22s ready to go immediately, or the C&R pistol with one mag that doesn't even shoot straight?
>>
>>62148810
>EVERY single mag fed gun loaded lol. what the fuck scenario is gonna need you to have more than your main weapons ready
When I wanna go out back and plink at steel targets on a whim and don't want to sit around loading a mag

>why the fuck would you need your 6 goofy plinking 22s
I only have 1 .22 and I keep it loaded by the door to shoot squirrel, groundhogs, raccoons& other pests pretty regularly. Not everything revolves around a boogaloo fantasy kiddo
>>
>>62146509
My standard for handguns (rimfire & centerfire) is to have at minimum enough magazines to have 100 rounds loaded and ready to go.
I use cheap handgun cases from Walmart that have an external pocket for mags. For the most part, I can fit 100 rds worth of mags plus a handgun in each case. Makes it much nicer being able to grab a handgun case with 100 rds ready to go. Also reduces chances of forgetting mags at home when going shooting.

It's psycho to regularly plink in my backyard? I've never had an ND because I'm not a retard& I don't fingerfuck triggers without clearing the gun first. Buddy you're raging about nothing rn

I hear the new production auto ordnance ones are supposed to be pretty good. The cost is just a killer when other M1 carbine mags are so much cheaper.

20 AR mags, maybe like 6-7 handgun mags
>>
>>62146509
I always say 10 each for rifles and maybe 7-10 for handguns (your mileage may vary with the latter) but I’ve found that there really isn’t enough and not every rifle could use that many.

I don’t regret getting a bunch of 20 round M77 mags even though they’re $50 each, but I’m not exactly using all of them that frequently. That said, I still plan on getting more.

If you own Magpul pmags. You can just buy a three pack of followers. That doubles the life of a pmag.
Interesting enough the Army found a single pmag can survive 30k rounds before cracking. If I recall.
Thats insane

I havent really counted in a ling while..but I have
An assload of G3 mags because they were dirt cheap
An assload of AR-15 mags because I kept on getting issued them in the Army=free
Enough AK mags for a combat load
Prolly like 10-12 Glock mags for my pistol/sub2k
All my pistols other pistols have 4
Hunting rifles and 10/22 only have a couple
Everything else I have is not mag fed. Mags will last a ling time if you arent treating them like absolute shit. Even my ancient steel/aluminum GI issue AR mags are still going and those were old when I started getting them like 12 years ago.
