I'll wait until the official confirmation from Ukraine. There's been too much bullshit/ambiguity/"two more weeks" around the F-16 arrival and deployment.
>>
>>62172114
Earlier in the month DOD said they'd be in Ukraine by the end of the summer. The only hold up was moving them from Denmark.
>>
>>62172114
I'm in the same camp, this might be a sign of what's to come or not. OPSEC is probably high regarding this, for all that we know the F-16s can already have been deployed several times and this might be the first time we see one, or this is actually the first time they've been deployed on a mission. It also could just be a random clip someone blurred out and slapped on a watermark for a giggle.
For now I say wait and see.

Anyone else who are extremely optimistic and also extremely pessimistic at the same time regarding F16 prospects? I feel that either it will either be an extreme game changer, doing SEAD and shooting down RuAF like flies or it ends up a nothingburger slinging bombs from far awar and shooting drones and then a single one manages to get shot down by RU and we will have 50+ threads here and on /pol/ with the same pic over and over similar to the Leo2 pic.

And yes I have a personal stake in this since the F-16 my dad flew on might be being donated to Ukraine. https://www.f-16.net/aircraft-database/F-16/airframe-profile/291/
>>
>>62173081
>and then a single one manages to get shot down by RU and we will have 50+ threads here and on /pol/ with the same pic over and over similar to the Leo2 pic.
Threads on /pol/ have no tactical benefits whatsoever
>>
>>62173081
they'll be used just like everything else is used: ukraine will occasionally leave the house, kick russia in the balls, then immediately run back inside. some f16s will be shot down, and it will probably have been avoidable if ukraine was better at (or better equpped for?) maneuver warfare.

You know the vTuber Froot?
Back in ~2014, when she was just a DeviantArtist dating a soldier in my battalion, she used to have a pic of herself on Facebook, wearing an F-16 kigurumi. (that's those cosplay onesies)
I've searched for that kigurumi for years and never found another example. And at the time I didn't think to save that pic of her (she was just some random Scene Girl).
It was kinda like a flying squirrel, but grey, with stiching for aerolons, and a pointy hood for nosecone.
Think of the kigurumis, anon.

Telegram removes creation/modification dates and instead sets those fields to the time YOU on YOUR DEVICE first accessed the image/video.

>>
>>62173233
Ehh I dunno. I don't think FB gets picked up by the Internet Archive... she deleted / privated a bunch of her pics by the time I realized she was Froot.
Via my army acquaintance, by then her ex-bf, I did manage to save various other pics tho. Like a few of her cosplaying Bismarck from Kantai Collection... Those are funny.
Unless there are people who know how to worm their way into permissions and look for the old album... again assuming it isn't outright deleted.

I think I already checked kiwi, too. Some gossip about her decisions, but not any pics. Maybe I'm sitting on a secret stash, by now.

im super optimistic, just the amount of missile spam f-16 can generate both air to air and air to ground is bit stupid. Nato has shitload of missiles to send for that spam. Ngl, i think it might break the snownigger back inside a year and a half. We might actually see total mobilization from russia when losses get very bad.

I can't actually speak much to that question. The guy really was just an acquaintance; we had only spoke a little back then. Mainly, to complain about Psycho Pass Season 2 and to coordinate BN T-Shirt designs, as he and I both are hobby artists. I haven't kept in touch with Army people after ETS.

They were "facebook-married" for about a year. Then all of a sudden they weren't even fb friends anymore.

What I CAN say is that the opportunities and motive for her cheating were strong. She was based in the UK, and as I mentioned, still dresses like a Scene Girl. Plus, she was also legit cute. So we have:
• an intercontinental LDR
• she dolled herself up to be part of a subculture defined by intoxicated partying and crying about being a lonely tart
•The Army acquaintance wasn't super handsome or a femmy bishie / ikemen male cosplayer, either.

And "Froot" is more an InuYasha type weebgirl, not really an autistic rough housing tomboy at heart.
She's not the type to stay interested in military or historical topics, which is what this Army bf, a Wehraboo who saved up ~12 E4 paychecks to buy an SMG co FG42 repro, would entail she remain interested in.

TL;DR can't say for sure, but when I heard about it, I believed it.

Froot's frankly a bit retarded, because she kept using her original artist usernames, associated with irl About Me info, even after becoming a vTuber.

The Army guy was TDS'd to Fort Hood when an Abrams friendly fire incident occurred, and made a commemorative sketch of it XD

>hose sound like filesystem dates rather than any metadata in the file
your conflating OS filesystem management with what the App does. The date you accessed the piece of media will be the time it is marked created not by your OS (phone, or if you're one of those freaks using TG on a desktop) as a file attribute but by the application itself inside the metadata. Not file properties, although obviously you get those too.

This goes for companies too:
1. Map all Russian/Belarussian nationals in your organization
2. Background check them if you havnt, have a security interview for critical positions.
3. Don't hire any new until end of war
4. Put all nationals on watchlist, you can also via Crowdstrike for example find out if they use Russian keyboard or use Cyrillic in Teams chat via MS Purview.
5. Block+alert if they try to access company resources from RU/BY ip or any other security use case. Disable account if necessary.
6. Ensure least privilege for those on watchlist. Ideally don't give them access or admin access to crown jewels.

this happens literally every time, pretty telling how every single time dispite all the bravado when we just send the tiniest bit of regular or even outdated equipment to ukraine, all the russians suddenly shit in fear.
like dude, nobody in the west are calling these wunderwaffe, they're just regular weapons.

>if they receive swedish AEW planes and AIM-120Ds
It's amazing how little information people retain around here.
They're getting two Swedish cope-AWACS (weird scan patter because it's not your typical "umbrella" xbox-hueg dish, but should be very capable if flown in the right patterns), and the Ukrainians have already straight-up purchased D-block AMRAAMs some time ago, likely building stocks for the *eventual* arrival of the Vipers.
And no, D-block AMRAAMs are not used in NASAMS so it's pretty clear what they'd be buying them for.
>>
>>62172960
Anon, at this stage being skeptical over Viper deliveries is far, far from a purely vatnoid position.
Western support has been slipshod, as is, but the conduct surrounding provision of air power has been utterly abysmal.
>>
>>62173081
Other anons have said it but unfortunately F-16s are coming with all the familiar strings attached, so in all likelihood there'll be no particularly aggressive use against assets located over the border.
Yes, yes it's fucking retarded and this pussy-ass administration's been coasting on providing table scraps to Ukraine, often late.

All of this very erotic post can only happen if Ukraine is allowed to actually fucking use the Vipers against russoid targets *inside* Russia, proper.
Pending that, it'll make some things better for Ukraine, but only marginally.
>>
>>62175578
>>62176037
It's because for all the bravado, the russoids *do* unironically know beneath it all that their equipment is qualitatively dogshit copetanium compared to Western equivalents, let alone American.
They're mostly all assholes, but a lot of them still do have the brainpower to understand this, quietly. It's why so many of them just assumed war with the West was just a rhetorical game and not a real possibility, because if *they* knew beneath the bluster their gear is trash, how would Tsar Monke and the boyars possibly believe otherwise?
That, plus they assumed that the West is smart enough to play along because even if Russian equipment is trash, they still have muh NOOKS.

Safe to say a lot of them have much, much more shit to worry about now that they need to *actually* worry about being annihilated by American gear that's been specifically designed to kill *THEM* for decades, now.

Dschinghis Khans "Moskau" reverberated his Plane shaking loose some Philipsheads woodscreews. I'm no vatnik, but let's be sober, anon.
ATACMS and GMLRS don't have the same radar returns as and F-16, an air-breathing, manned fighter that (presumably lmao) Russian crews *ought* to be better trained in dealing with.
That, plus you can't cheat physics. All the best weaponry the Ukrainians might receive can and will only work best if fired off at a rather high altitude.
>HARMs
>JDAMs
>Most especially AMRAAMs
It'll be nifty and all if they have those Swedish cope-AWACS to cue targets for their AMRAAMs, but firing those off at treetop level on a lofting trajectory is still going to seriously gimp its range.
Will F-16s make life...fascinating for Russian AD crews? Almost certainly.
Will the Ukrainians SEAD/DEAD Russians like it's 1991 for minimal/no loss and/or complications?

See this is the funny thing
While retards like >>62182776 desperately need F-16s to suddenly become Russia-tier in quality, the issue is in the numbers being trickled in, not necessarily the capabilities they may or may not have onboard.
HIMARs (and M270s) had the benefit of being mobile and (for Russia) nigh on impossible to interdict, while offering a capability that happened to *seriously* fuck with Russia's WWII-era "artillery army" doctrine.
F-16s have to contend with not only a still very real AD threat (people need to stop downplaying S-300 capability against fighters, Ukraine's done rather nicely with them before they started getting more Western systems to augment/replace their Soviet stocks), but also the glaringly obvious issue: They aren't NATO, and sure as hell aren't Americans.
They're not working with the integration of systems and forces that make the things shine. They'll be on a learning curve trying to figure out how to integrate these aircraft into *their*own Ukrainian fighting doctrine, and doing so on-the-fly.

>>62182725
HIMARS and ATACMS have been hilariously effective because the ziggers are so dumb. The amount of times they've just left a massive ammo cache somewhere or gathered in the open or so many other blunders, never mind that the missiles can maneuver and S-400 is a wunderwaffen in the worst possible way.

Whereas the F16 is a simple restock + improvement over what aircraft Ukraine already has. No more convoluted jury-rigging of NATO weapons to Soviet airframes with all the targeting, communication, and maintenance benefits that come with that.
I forget the missile exactly, but one of the issues with such jury-rigging was that this specific missile couldn't be reprogramed once the plane left the tarmac. So if the mission goes to plan, great. But if you spot a neat target on the way in, too bad. F16 doesn't have this problem, just change targeting in-flight.
F16 is quality of life improvement rather than a sea change.
>>
>>62182866
>I forget the missile exactly, but one of the issues with such jury-rigging was that this specific missile couldn't be reprogramed once the plane left the tarmac.
If I recall, it was two missiles.
>HARMs
>Storm Shadows fired off of Fencers
The capability using native US equipment to get the most utility out of US/NATO weapons will definitely be a huge improvement, but I still say this won't really reach an inflection point until the Ukrainians have the numbers to run a CAP while another flight goes in for Weaselin'.
Expect losses, expect maintenance woes, expect some airframes to be cannibalized due to said maintenance woes, and you're looking at around some 80-100 airframes they need.

I'm sorry but I find it hard to take these kinds of posts seriously now.
Throughout this war there've been multiple variations of the "Don't understimate [insert equipment or anothering thing related to Russia here]", people said this same shit over and over again for multitudes of things, and the only constant so far is that Russia proved EVERY single time that they're shit, we've got tons of video evidence of that, there's literally no way to debate this.

I mean I get it, anon. I don't disagree, even. The problem is the air war has been waged the way it has been on both sides so far precisely because each side still needs to be concerned with the other's AD capability (neither side can really start playing attrition war in the sky, so that makes things even wonkier).
I'm not saying S-300s are god-tier, merely that they have demonstrated (again, on both sides) that they still *can* do probably the EASIEST thing they were designed for, which is shooting down manned fighter and strike aircraft.

All I'm saying is we better hope Ukrainians respect the capability more like I do than you do if we want to see them succeed in any capacity.
>>
>>62182720
>Will the Ukrainians SEAD/DEAD Russians like it's 1991 for minimal/no loss and/or complications?
I believe they're gonna have an easier time now than before, considering they've been launching nigger rigged harms from MiG-29 and Su-27 instead of having a dedicated platform like the F-16. But they have a massive SAM soup of all kinds of shit to clean up and it's gonna take a lot more planes to do that for it to make a huge difference. It is a start, but I don't think we'll see a huge difference from what we've seen before. Maybe when the numbers start trickling in, but that's given the attrition levels does not get unsustainable.
>>
>>62183055

Now compare that to shooting .30-06 from an actual .30-06 rifle.
>>
>>62183081
Mid-mission updates, mid-course updates, etc.
Currently nigger-rigged HARMs fired off of MiGs and the like can't do any of that, and are effectively gimped once off the rails.
Basically, far more dynamic targeting.

Slavshit RWR is awful as it only gives you a rough angle of the threat and it has massive blindspots. There's cockpit video from Ukraine where going like 150 ft off the ground just causes almost all of the amber lights to turn on because the aircraft will be instantly be painted by radars from both sides.
Basic RWR on a Western jet displays the type of radar and uses threat rings to show which ones you have to look out for and which ones are low threat. Western MFDs on the situational awareness page give you a bigger screen showing that RWR data.
With a HTS pod you massively increase the capability of the HARM. A MiG can't really talk to the HARM so there's a bus connecting to the aircraft pretending to be a R-27 missile which converts the fire signal into a HARM compatible fire signal. The HARM is almost definitely pre-programmed on the ground and loaded with GPS coordinates so it can fly into the rough location of the target and use its seeker for terminal. If HTS pods were provided you have so much more control, you can even fly while using the seeker to scan emissions and as you fly along a path you triangulate the point source rather than just get a rough angle to fire towards. But even without a pod a F-16 can communicate with the HARM and you can shoot in self-protect mode, target of opportunity or pre-planned. You can specify the type of radar you want to get struck so rather than the HARM locking into whatever emitter is on it will actually pick up the frequencies and emission patterns to discern what kind of radar it locks onto.
>>
>>62183081
The nigger-rigged nato armaments, if put on a MiG, HAVE to be fired. so just from that point of view the f-16s are a million times better.
>>
>>62183081
I dont know what they specifically did to to nigger rig the harms onto the sukhois and migs, but from what I've heard it's very awkward to use. The 2000's F-16 blocks has the ability to mount the HTS pod(HARM Targeting System) which is a very good system for picking up radar emissions. From what I've seen so far the migs/sukhois have been lofting the HARMs which I assume means they're using it in "pre-briefed" or "range unknown" mode at specific targets at long range. With the HTS the pilots can identify the azimuth and range of the emitting SAM systems. Although I don't know if they'll get the HTS, if not there is HAS(HARM As Sensor) mode and the previously mentioned pre-briefed and range unknown modes.

It will make life very fascinating for the VKS too, since from what I know, they've been conditioned to believe they can just yeet R-77s from a safe distance, as the Ukrainians pretty much only had access to SARH missiles, meaning they have to constantly paint the target, leaving the VKS basically invulernable to return-fire. Once they get sent some AMRAAMS their way, it will be a very rude awakening which will probably result in over a dosen planes shot down before they realize that they can't just throw an R-77 at the problem and have to change up their tactics.
>>
>>62182880
>Storm Shadows fired off of Fencers
This is probably the most critical element of the delivery, Ukraine's fencer flock is small and old and being actively hunted to extinction by the Russians
Vipers solve all of these problems simply by being much newer and more available, never mind that they also offer additional capabilities whist being significantly harder to kill

Indeed, but it seems odd for them to show them off already, rather than continueing their loop of:
>2 more weeks untill F-16 guys!!!
>Russian AD goes to the front to prepare for F-16s
>AD gets ATACMSed
>repeat
Sure, shooting down cruise missiles with them is valuable, but if the Russians know the F-16s are actually in the air now, they will take precatutions to them rather than keep doing like they've done until now where the Ukrainian AF barely could fight back. Maybe they think the Russians learned of the loop and deacided to break it, who knows.
>>
>>62183399
>Delay on recieving F-16 has much to do with upgrading the radars afaik

Yeah that would be fascinating to know more about, given I can't say I necessarily understand what Ukes are contemporarily doing with their radar systems, but given the "FrankenSAM" system it would be putting together a lot of tech that wouldn't normally integrate at all.

The good news, however, is that Russian AD is being restricted to specific locations like picrel. And Ukraine already announced publicly that they're operating the F-16s around Odessa/Kherson first, though they said they won't be near the frontline and will rather target cruise missiles and drones. However, we've seen them say one thing and do another before if an instance of opportunity occurs.
>>
>>62183594
Ok... but why would they suddenly not bring their AD up for the F-16s? They've repeatedly been sending it for a mere mention of them even coming soon right? If anything the moment it's confirmed they're there and in the air I'd expect MORE AD in HIMARS/M270 range in an attempt to scare the F-16s from coming to close to the lines. That of course would followed promptly by them experiencing great personal HARM and other unfortunate fates.

Personally I can't wait for the Ukrainian-German hybrid vehicles we're gonna see once the war ends and the rebuilding effort is finished. They will surely beef up their defence and I can't wait to see what they come up with, it's gonne be the exact opposite of the Soviet-East Germany situation and that's cool as fuck
>>
>>62182725
I think they'll mostly be slinging HARMs around for a long-ass time until russia completely runs out of most air defense. although I do think it's possible that once they have enough airframes and pilots they could plan more complicated things such as have some go in as wild weasels and take out anything locking onto them to punch a temporary hole in the air defense to immediately clear a path for I dunno, a swarm of drones or help an ATACMs strike get through etc.

I can guess they'd like dropping some 2000lb JDAMs on the Kerch bridge since their one-way drones can only peck at such a structure and the drone boats can't reach it anymore. Even leaving from Lyiv and staying at least 50 miles off the coast of Crimea, F-16s should be able to get to the bridge and back on drop tanks alone without relying on tankers (that they do not have). In fact it only kind of barely-reaches but would be useful as a kick to the nuts of the Russian public. Gee it's almost like Ukraine has been obsessed with taking out every radar they can find on Crimea the past half year or something, what a coincidence it's almost as if they're trying to clear a path for such a mission.
