Bought a used Model 64-8 from my LGS for $250. Just picked it up today along with two boxes of 158gr FMJs after two weeks because WA fag. I typically carry a P365 with Federal 9mm 124gr HST +P. What's a good option for my revolver?

Lee 105gr swc 6gr titegroup
>>62498775I was going to recommend Hornady Critical Defense +P 110 Grain JHP and Federal LE +P 158 Grain LSWCHP. but your list is much more in depth than my recommendation would have been. 10/10
Just some good LRN rounds if you're buying off the shelf. It's cheap, and will deform in your target effectively. No need to go spending a bunch on all sorts of semi-jacketed soft hollow point fragmenting +P+ MAX ammo when this will do the same job. I personally carry pic rel in my snubby. In a 64 you might actually benefit from some +P rounds unlike my 2" barrel, but I found that a lot of +P ammo shot high in my model 19, whereas normal 38 special was pretty much dead on with standard 357 mag ammo.
>>62498745do they still make the >the whole thing is a hollow pointHSTs? that's what I carried as my first load.

>>62498903They got discontinued during covid, along with the rest of the MicroHST line, when Federal introduced the Punch line. The new HSTs are conventional looking like the rest of the HST line. Also, for those that don't know, Punch and HST are nearly identical, they use the same powder charge and the same bullet jacket. The difference is the hardness of the lead. HSTs are harder, with the intent of being barrier-blind as they are marketed to LE, and Punch is softer, which helps expansion in soft targets. They are also plain brass cased, though that is true for a lot of HST now as well. In response to OP, either go with the classic +p FBI SWCHP or just plain old full wadcutter target loads.
>>62498745Is that one of the French police surps? I got a nice model 10-6 a while back, had a set of rare Trausch grips, I was pretty pleased with that.
>>62499348I have two 20 round boxes of that stuff still, should have got more while they were making it
>>62499394Same. I got all mine the day Walmart quit selling pistol ammo, $6 a box. I got everything they had at my local store, then drove to 5 more looking for more ammo. Total haul was 9k rounds of various calibers. I'm still shooting it lol.
https://www.atlantarifleworks.com/handguns/revolvers/armscor-m200-38sp-4-6rd-revolver-blacknew these aint too bad, but if you can find a used model 10 or 64 for under $300 i feel like its better.
>>62498745I carry golden saber 125 grain +p bjhp in both my lcr and model 60, i got them cheap enough i just also use them as my practice ammo
Is there any .38 +P ammo you guys avoid?
>>62499382not with that hole
>>62498943Buy boolits and press em at home. I prefer the lighter ones though for 38 spc. I got a ton of like 128 grain wadcutters from rimrock bullets at one point and I want to try them out. Idk. I was loading 357 with anywhere from 8 to 11 grains of h110 and getting decent results. 180 gr swc. Bullet crimp is of utmost importance. And lube.
I carry buffalo bore 38 special +p 158gr super wad cutter hollow point heavy loadIt's snappier than my 357 magnum range loads
>>62498943what does hardcast do
>>62503649Pic is my own handload, just barely fits in a GP100. I do recommend that. 358429 is a classic Keith design and with a HP offers great expansion.>>62503928These aren't particularly hardcast, 12BHN. They expand violently even at 900fps~
>>62503928knocks the dogshit out of whatever you hit with it
