How useful is camo on aircraft and drones?
>>
It depends if the other guy is eyeing it to take it down.
>>
Probably decently useful at the current moment since target detection, tracking, and homing are accomplished with simple optical cameras.
Paint the bottom a light color, paint the top a dark color.
Simple as.

since most drones don't have thermals it's pretty useful even an half hassed attempt

Mostly useful on the ground. Planes need to land eventually and having camo paint means you can throw some nets up and it looks just like a bush.

This cost is nothing and even incremental advantages add up. One less drone hitting it's target pays for the paint of 1000s.

Though only for primitive optical recognition by humans or as captcha for robots. Radar etc does not give a shit about sick decals

If target is moving(it does), silhouette will give away it mire then color
