now make a grand-mother ship drone that can carry two mother ship drones.

been saying for a year or more now that ukraine should outfit baba yagas to be motherships

also imagine something like himars that shoots missiles that have drones inside
actual useful cluster bomb setup

I don't believe it will be even fielded. I don't believe more than this one model will ever exist.

Exists. I assume you're using baba yaga as a shorthand for all of our starfish multirotors with decent lift capacity (vampire, r18...). They work fine in that role, but it's rarely the best and highest use.

Reasons are their scarcity and the overriding need to reserve them as carriers for expensive and sensitive things. They are far stabler than most other platforms of similar size, so you're often left with no choice but to dedicate them to hosting your fanciest sensors, handling supply runs for munitions cargo that doesn't like to be jostled, what have you. Dropping shock-sensitive explosives practically on the heads of your guys in the trenches is a mistake that any resupply pilot could eventually make under pressure, but not one you're allowed to repeat. :^)

That's why it's nice to have steadily ramping XL FPV production lately. Much more elegant to pair mega milker hornet queen FPVs with small FPVs and spare your largest birds for more specialized tasks. https://desuarchive.org/k/thread/62090446

Like, launcher fires drones from canisters? Or DPICM but the submunitions are microdrones instead of regular bomblets? First one's a thing, second isn't yet a realistic engineering problem.

Plenty exist. But that's because it's a white-labeled, turnkey product straight from china. The russians market it under, idk, a dozen different names, claiming it's domestic.

This blueprint is widely cloned as the go-to thing for pipeline inspection drones. All of its features are tailored for use in the context of doing recon on oil & gas infra.

VTOL because you might not have any runway to work with, ex. if you're taking off from an offshore rig. Hybrid because you need the endurance for pipeline-walking and offshore platform <-> shore facility rondtrips. Fixed wing because you need to handle gusts and inclement weather.

Classic prop plane esque fuselage and wing design – mid wing rather than shoulder wing, #trad empennage rather than v-tail boom, etc. – because it's cheap and good enough: you're just expecting to carry a camera, NOT a payload of significant size or weight.

All the russians do is order them without the camera, which is a big chunk of the BOM.

Decidedly negakino. It's hard to adapt this particular drone for a less optimal purpose.
