I've never heard of a mercenary group fielding anything more dangerous or advanced than armored trucks or speedboats. Why?

Because speed boats and trucks can be procured by civilians that's why. Good luck buying military weapons and then shipping them anywhere. Trucks/boats can be bought in any country and then modified in theater

>>62527242Besides the reasons other anons have listed, it's also because many "mercenary" groups are hired as "security contractors". I.e. their assignments are far less often "Go to X village and assault rebel fortifications" and much more often "Escort our VIPs and keep terrorists away from important buildings". These sorts of missions aren't the types of things you really need tanks or gunships for, and would be wasteful overkill if you tried to bring them anyway.
They want to make money so they keep costs down.
