>Ed Brown is gone
Wow. The semi-custom 1911 gunsmiths just keep dying. It feels like the 1911 is dying with them. Nobody really gives a shit about 1911s anymore aside from as an icon and the people that care about them because they're iconic rarely own or shoot them. Even the 2011 hype is already kinda fading. An 11/10 trigger can only go so far, it seems.
I never bought into the 1911 hype and don't own a 1911 at all, but it's sad to see it kinda fading into just being a historical relic. The only 1911s eventually will be turkshit or Nighthawks.

With the rise of the 2011 there are more 2011 smiths now then ever, it’s the same gun different frame and mag basically. The rosters people like Wilson Combat have are huge, I don’t know about Staccato but the volume they put out they must have more.

No. I don’t think so.

1911s lost their luster for me when I had to disassemble one.
>just get one with a bull barrel

>it's therapeutic
It's really not. Especially because 1911s are finicky and like being clean and oiled. It really is a chore and I prefer just being able to pop my gun open in 2 seconds and only having to wipe it down like twice a year. I'm spoiled.

You can hear supersonic crackles from S&B and Buffalo bore in the PPK in the videos I took but don’t with slower rounds. Maybe Norma would be good as it’s slightly heavier than us ammo but not as hot as other European and comfortably subsonic.
Do you think this could work well for a PPK? https://jkarmament.com/products/jk-105-ccxtm-9mm/
People say it’s not that great at silencing 9mm but 32 is much easier to suppress and it’s compact enough that I could still have a light gun even with it on.
Also pro to slower ammo is it’s much lighter shooting than BB which felt closer to 1908 levels of recoil - moderate but enough to hurt quick follow-up shots.

2011s revitalized the 1911 market with a breath of fresh air and modernized the platform. People are still buying a ton of 1911s and 2011s. 2011s require most of the same fitting that a 1911 does. It's a style of gun that isn't going away and due to 2011s, parts for 1911s that are shared with the 2011 aren't going away either.

Well, it was released into a very saturated market and it doesn't have the pedigree of other Beretta products (92 series, etc.) It's not a bad gun, it's just widely overlooked for things that have been around for longer. The A1 update and the plethora of rebates that Beretta has done on them generated some interest, but I think the APX will always fly under the radar.

>Do you think this could work well for a PPK?
Probably. It's going to be a significantly smaller volume of gas. I don't have experience with suppressed blow back guns, but I hear that there can be a report from the breach as well as the muzzle, so it's not going movie quiet. I also heard this from le sources that said suppressing an AK was pointless, so who knows. I'm sure our local experts will take as the word of god and meme you into oblivian over it, despite literally only reading it here for the first time. Perhaps if you can get that .380 recoil spring working it could help. Still, it's going to be much quitter with a suppressor. The only way I can see getting a suppressor on there is to have Tornado Technologies add a threaded extension, but I'd be interested to know about any other options. Walther actually has a kino threaded tip for their .22 guns where you just screwon an extension, so that MIGHT be an option. IDK if there is enough material on the barrel though. That's the main reason I wanted that book, to see how Walther designed the OG suppressor attachment.

Just tried the Kirkland premium vanilla ice cream for the first time. It's absolutely delicious. Recently learned there's a government rating system for ice cream, that has something to do with butterfat (I have no idea what that is). For example, Breyers can't legally call itself "ice cream" because it's too low of a grade. The Kirkland is the highest grade, which is apparently hard to find? I think Tillamook and Umpqua make good ice cream, so I'll have to look into their rating.

Their test pistol was an M&P9c, half inch shorter barrel than the G19. Expansion is lacking but penetration is average.
The extra half inch in barrel length might get you marginally more penetration with the added velocity.

>Decided to take the chance to hunt with a revolver this year even during main season.
You could always just bring both and decide when you get your opportunity. How big is it? Too big to carry alongside a rifle? What's your caliber and load?

If I carried both would default to the rifle every time which defeats the purpose.
Deer aren't armored and the loads are pretty modest. Last year I used my 45 Colt 1892 with handloads, 75 yards that obliterated both scapulas, fist sized in and out. A lot of wasted meat that was much worse than I remember my 308 being.
So in the interest of saving meat, I'm changing it up.

alright I'll wait on the measurement but I'm pretty sure my hand is similar size if not a bit bigger and that's what I was wondering was if my pinky would hang off the actual grip. I might have to get the f if that's the case. every photo and video I see makes the f look absolutely enormous but maybe all these people just have tiny hands.
>>
>>62533938
I was thinking range would be your deciding factor, but rifles are always going to beat pistols. I don't hunt, but that sounds like a bad situation. Are you running .357 now?
>>
>>62534055
275gr cast hollow point in 44 Mag this year. Only pushed to 1100fps, they expand to .800" at just 900fps. With the heavy shank it should still penetrate plenty.
50 yards and in is a sure bet, 60-80 yards would depend on the deer being still.
I frequently hit a 15" gong at 100 yards standing, but that's not the same as being in the woods and I won't take shots that far.

I know, but .44 Magnum is where we start getting out of the region of
>hand gun caliber really doesn't matter that much.
You are talking about intermediate rifle levels of muzzel energy in a revolver. I think that's pretty neat.

Mec-Gar is g2g on anything that's not the original Bren Ten, and even that wasn't really their fault.
>>
>>62534198
Oh gotcha, well last year 240gr 45 Colt load was traveling 1880fps.
That 1880ft/lbs of energy basically which was too much.
>>
>>62533938
What sort of velocity are you getting with that load if you don't mind me asking? I think the older lever guns are neat but the .45 colt velocity figures(particularly with loads friendly to the weaker lever gun designs) seemed low enough that I was concerned about performance on game. Sounds like you're getting plenty of that though

>>62534208
Necessarily, unless it was a custom conversion on an early 20th century 1892, all 1892s in 45 Colt have been made in the last 40 years.
This means that they're using modern in what is undoubtedly the most robust lever action next to the giant 1886.
45 Colt models will handily digest 50kpsi and Rossi has been making the 454 Casull model that's good for 65kpsi. Paco Kelly has a really good write up about it, I don't use his data though lmao.

I've been trying to use these exclusively to test them and I've been impressed, no failures even with steel case, very pretty and easy to clean glossy blued finish, though mag ejection is weak (pic related, I think they're using followers for a different gun to save cost so it's not getting enough pressure against the slide stop to bust out forcefully). They went up $3 but still they're only $17.50 and are made by Beretta's OEM, MDS
https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/magazines/handgun-magazines-parts/sig-sauer-p226-magazine-blued-steel/

Also regarding your slide lock back are you sure you haven't improved your grip such that your strong thumb is now preventing the slide lock from working? That's always been a problem for me with P226s, to the point that I simply don't expect that function anymore.

They already have your number, they called YOU, hello? They're not going to stop because you don't pick up, the number successfully connecting and going to your voicemail instead of an error message already confirms it's a live number for them and it went on the priority list 8 years ago which is why you're still getting calls today. Meanwhile you're avoiding talking to humans like a weirdo

For "Potential spam" I don't pick up or I terminate call immediately, then I block all potential spam numbers at the end of the week.
Unknown number I pick up and say hello. If it's a person they talk immediately and WOAH I'm getting business done! If it's a robocall or a telemarketer I either hang up or put the phone in front of my speakers while playing a game :) I can enjoy hearing them get confused by a few minutes of gun shots and screaming

>>62535032
>>62535048
Yes, you'll get similar emails if a password leaks. There are several indicators that it's bullshit depending on your setup. I live in an apartment, but they call it a house. The picture they provide is of the street and not on the side I live on or of the apartment I live in. I also don't have a webcam attached to my PC. They work by adding nuggets of truth (ie they mention Pegasus spyware) and being vague (your iOS and Android devices, instead of specifically the one you use). They employ a sense of urgency to get you to make bad decisions under pressure.

The dumbest of all is threatening to come collect in person. Maybe in the UK that works, but here I at least have the ability to defend myself. Pic rel, if they really did screen record my PC they'd see this is my carry and get the opportunity to see it IRL!

Hatsune Miku isn't an anime girl, she's not from an animated series. She's a mascot, created to promote Yamaha's Vocaloid voice synthesis software, to be used by DAW composers just like an instrument bank only for vocals instead of drums or guitars. There are other Vocaloid voice "instruments" with associated characters just like Miku, including Megurine Luka, the twins Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len, and Kasane Teto. Famous songs using the Hatsune Miku voice synth include the "Po-Pi-Po" Vegetable Juice Dance, Triple Baka, her usage in a nonsense cover of the Finnish Ievan Polkka, Senbonzakura, Rolling Girl, Black Rock Shooter, Vampire, MKDR, and Tokumei M.

What fine art? Everything above the trigger on a 22X is repulsive. The slide is lumpy, the top of the grip looks like it has a cancerous growth in front of the beavertail, the exposed grip screws are tacky eyesores, the hammer is shaped like squeezed-together Play-Doh, the flat side of the frame has an ugly distracting indent where it meets the grip and it looks like the sheet metal from an AK with none of the interesting texture or riveting, and the way the dust cover/RSA sits underneath the barrel and in front of the frame resembles nothing so much as the glans of a flaccid uncircumcised penis.

The original M4 spec is 14.5" barrel length with carbine gas (not including muzzle device length, which can be considered additional length once pinned and welded to meet NFA requirements for civilian usage). 16" barrel length is best with a mid-length gas system.

I think the only real issue with the rifle is that he has a true 16 inch barrel and not a pin and weld. He also has a long muzzle device on a real 16 inch barrel, I think a rearden R2 or whatever. I don't blame him at all for not being pinned since I don't know his actual rational for the build other than being close to a Sopmod 1 other than the incorrect barrel and muzzle device. Maybe he didn't want to be locked in on having a certain can on the rifle, or he assembled it from spare parts.
