Allegedly newer management is really trying to sort shit out. Word is new production R92s and R95s reflect that, still some lemons of course but by most accounts if you give the gun a good once over and break it in they tend to work pretty good. Supposedly the action is smoother than on a marlin. The r95 specifically is externally rather similar to a Marlin 1895 but the bolt has an M16 style extractor and a different crossbolt safety that doesn't require a two-piece firing pin. Almost sounds like Marlin is constrained by tradition but Rossi could actually do some innovation. I just ordered the 20" 45-70, we'll see how long I can last before I go buy upgrades from Ranger Point Precision

I have an R92 in .454 Casull and I love it.
>I'm also a contrarian with a Taurus M.513 so opinions are up to you.

Were Rossi 92s bad for a time? My uncle bought one in 2019 and it's been a soild gun that gets taken out on every range trip. Just wonder when the supposed bad years were.

It's a Brazilian product, part of the Taurus firearms conglomerate getting it a bad wrap from boomer deluded gen-x'ers. Again I have 1 Taurus. 38, love it, 1 M.513 Raging Judge Magnum, Love it then got the R.92 to make my best .454 loads even better, and thusly love it. It is also a treat letting newgunz and women folk shoot .45 cowboy out of it and it is a nice light rifle.

Not really related to the thread, but I've heard conflicting reports on this (mostly on boomer forums). Can you shoot 45 Colt in a 454 Casull (revolver and/or levergat) firearm? I know they have the same bore diameter and the casull cartridge is just longer like with 357mag and 38spl. I thought about getting a Ruger 454 Casull revolver, but I'd only want it if I can also shoot 45 Colt, as my dad reloads it.

Absolutely! .45 long colt is a former black powder cartridge so it is loaded fairly weak for older firearms. You can also soot the hotter .45 LC +P & +P+ as they do not exceed .454 Casull. So I say go for it. Also depending on the revolver you may be able to use moon clips and shoot much cheaper .45 ACP as most. 45LC is pushing magnum prices.
>>
>>62538287
Yes. 45 LC can go in any revolver that will shoot 454 and also you can run 45 Schofield if you can find it. Should work in a lever action. I run 45 LC through my Alaskan all the time. 454 is more fun though.

Some FN guy jumped ship to spruce Rossi up and it worked.

>unironically owning a judge
So you're a drooling retard ok got it
>>
>>62538139
I have a r92 in .357. it's pretty good overall, but the safety on the bolt is pretty bad.

Time for meds no gunz schizoid

I've heard the have drop in pins & peep sights to replace the safety. It isn't really necessary with a hammer fired firearm anyway.

Ok, I'm in for a levergat.

Marlin or Henry?

What would be the best calibre.
Im in for 45/70 to .357 Magnum. to .30
Most of the people i know do have in fact the 45/70. A blast to shoot but expensiv.
And yes, i want to kit it out like the madpig versions.
>>
>>62539046
More choot'n, .357 because .38 also
Muh powa, 45-70
I chose .454 but admire .45-70, it's on my list.
>>
>>62539046
I plan on getting my wife a lever gat in .357 and then shooting the fuck out of it for her. My only question is whether to get her a full size or a mares leg.
>>
>>62538139
>by most accounts
most accounts were fine before, unless you got the
>oops, 5 thousandths overbore
44 magnum guns. if you are still hearing about lemons, nothing has changed.
>>
I've got an R92 in 357 with thousands of rounds without issue. Finish is a bit meh but I would definitely buy an R95 when my Mossberg 464 packs it in.
>>
I'm between a Henry and Rossi myself if I ever get another lever gun. Already got an Italian 1873 in .357.
>>
I liked my Rossi 92 in .357, but mine had issues feeding .357. I think the feed ramp edge was too sharp or something and it kept catching the longer case, but apart from that it was a great rifle. If I kept it I would’ve had it looked at and corrected
>>
>>62539115
You should take her to the range and let her shoot a mares leg and have her decide for herself.
>>
>>62539046
I split the difference between .357 and 45-70 with 30-30. I have a Marlin because poor fag who bought a used one with JM stamp on the barrel
>>
>>62541572
I was only the deciding factor because I typically buy guns on holiday sales, that I should do that.
>>
>>62538219
Same experience I got mine right before covid and it's been solid I killed several deer and it gets shot a ton.
>>
>>62538648
They do I use it for hunting it's great
