I surprisingly like my HK45C with the LEM trigger more than my USP45 Expert that has the match trigger kit. Shame it's only 10+1 max with the funky elephant feet mags, the fun of shooting it ends pretty fast
The sights are just okay though. Will be changing the HK45C sights to Trijicon night sights or something

Surprisingly not a lot, because prices hiked to the moon from like 2019 through last year but we've seen prices come down quite a bit on a lot of stuff this year. For instance CZ P10Cs were $300 in 2018 and again this year, Beretta APXs were $300 in 2018 and $269 this year. M&Ps, VP9s and P99s all rose and then came back down again. 2011s became very popular and a host of affordable cope models came to market. Ammo has remained reasonably low for that duration as well, it may be cheaper now than it was in 2019 actually. I never really thought about it until now!

I guess what I'm saying is thanks Biden!

The Beretta PX4 Storm Compact is about as small as DA/SA guns go that are still in production. It is about G19 size so still within the size to be concealed, I conceal one to a no guns workplace every day (if I’m not carrying a 1911).

The ability to have the safety of hammer down gives me a lot of confidence in its safety. One of the most dangerous actions is holstering the loaded gun, with a DA/SA the hammer is down and you can hold it down physically preventing the gun from going off if something was pulling the trigger. Honestly it makes me very lax in safety compared to people with striker guns since I just jam it in my holster (thumb over the hammer) and no do the bomb surgery striker people have to do when holstering.

>>
>>62542243
I have the opposite experience for reloading components, which do give some small indication for where ammo will go in the future.
Primers are up 2x what they were in 2018, what used to be $50 a box is now $100 easily. Some specialty ones like CCI no34 are now 14cpr even before you ship them(hazmat+shipping).
Powder has doubled since then too. Any powder with high nitro content is stupid, literally over 2x price. 5744 was $35 per #1 and now it's $70+.
Plinking cast bullets which were 6 cents are now 10 cents while jacketed and especially solids are through the roof. Components are just unnecessarily afflicted right now, Alliant isn't even releasing batches of cannister powders due to militaries buying up everything.
>>
>>62542270
It chambers 3 other cartridges dude, you can find some on ammoseek.

Not that anon, but the central premise of them works quite well. They’re bright in the daytime because of the fiber optics, and they’re visible at night because of the tritium. With that said, I don’t like the fact that they’re U-notch; I strongly prefer square posts. You also might have to cut your holster to fit them, because they’re so long (picrel).

It is smaller on the grip which for most styles of carry is the most important part since it’s exposed out of your pants. The 92 Compact is more concealable of course, but if I could conceal the 92 compact I could also probably conceal the full-size because I’d be wearing a hoodie or jacket all day.

It really depends on your body. For me and my style of carry which is deep concealment using a Phlster enigma rig, the 92 Compact was too long to carry comfortably. I tend to carry with the gun so far deep in my pants the grip is inline with my belt line so nothing can print above the belt line. The PX4 being shorter allows me to comfortably do that.

You need a Beretta 96 slide to convert to .357 Sig due to the breechface. In my experience a .40 S&W extractor works for both 9mm and .40 S&W. EFK fire dragon just did another run of barrels and you should get their upgraded recoil assembly while you’re at it. Unless you have a 96A1 which has a frame buffer but otherwise you risk damaging the frame if the slide velocity isn’t properly controlled.

Don't tell me it can't be done with a cheap aluminum thing using 1980s technology, because they did it with the Deltapoint Micro too. An SRO doesn't cost $500 because muh labor give me a break

When you keep price in mind yeah. I mean they make some really stupidly overpriced stuff too like the D-EVO and all their "high end" stuff that's still based on 1970s turrets gets overshone by modern asian stuff with modern features, but the low end Leupolds are really really respectable. I'm not a scope nerd but I get the feeling their midrange stuff is pretty forgettable given competition from Japan and their high end stuff just looks like contract bait to me.

>>62542970
If you think every last trace, adhesive and screw on a Trijewcon is made in America I've got a bridge to sell you. Leupold makes no secret of the fact they use LOW and others for lenses. Their tubes all say machined in America even on the cheapest lines. If Leupold can make a 1.5 pound 1.5 foot long optic with Japanese lenses for $300 in the US then Trijewcon can make a 1.55 ounce 1.5 inch optic for $300 in the US. They would just have to relinquish their premium price model, which would admit to the world their prices are fake and cause untold seething in excusemakers like you

When I shoot my Glock my shots go to the right which means I'm either anticipating recoil (I don't think this is it) or applying too much pressure with my left hand, or pulling the trigger wrong. The strange thing is, this only happens with Glocks, I've never shot right with any other gun ever.

Over penatration happens and has real cost, and even if that's not something you are concerned about why would you not want better reliability and wound channels of quality self defense ammo? If you haven't had a dud yet with bulk FMJ you don't train enough for your opinion to matter on this subject and should listen to what all the experts say. The experts say to carry hollow points.
>>
>>62544176
>do you ever think of downsizing and simplifying your collection?
Yes, but only by a gun or two. For example, my first pistol was a Glock 19 gen 5 and I haven't shot it in years. It has a little sentimental value, but it really bugs me that I don't shoot it anymore, nor do I really want to. I will probably sell it.

The FMJ you carry literally doesn't feed as good as quality defensive loads with more percise tolerances and nickel plating. Bare brass will never feed as reliably as nickel plated brass.

That’s why the ww2 Germans picked both of them since they made penetrating light barriers like helmets and wood a requirement for the pistols.

This is probably why a wartime PPK can take buffalo bore since being able to penetrate deep and destroy vitals was an expectation even for their pocket pistols.
>>62544413
You wouldn’t want to run JHP out of a snub pocket 380/32 since it might not penetrate. Flat nose like buffalo bore makes good wounds but won’t get stuck on a thick coat
>>
>>62544584
>You wouldn’t want to run JHP out of a snub pocket 380
Yeah I would. As long as it penetrates between 12-18 inches, it’s good enough for me. .380 FMJs penetrate too deeply, even out of 3”~ barrel.
>>
What would you recommend for a 29 year old woman for a conceal carry firearm? She's about 5'7" with a thin build? Just go with a Glock 43x/p365 or should women stick with a smaller Calibur like .380?

LCP JHP often doesn’t get 12 inches. I’d only run on something long barreled like the colts and cheetahs.
>>62544614
Tiny 380 guns like the LCP have significant recoil. Get something with low recoil and a slide that isn’t too stiff
Stuff like cheetah is bad because the very stiff slide and bulky grips
>>
>>62544614
M&P 380 Shield EZ or M&P Equalizer, her choice based on the weight of the firearms. The Equalizer is going to have more weight, but it's in 9mm. The 380 EZ is very smooth and shoots effortlessly.
In the end, I'll recommend the 380 EZ.
>>
>>62544641
German WW2 ammo was 75gr and 1100fps
S&B is 73 and 1100. Buffalo bore has almost identical energies and felt the same in kick. Neither were beating the frame, they’re within the performance envelope for steel pistols and more aggressive rounds have been used by the CIA.
7.65 spec 32 is only dangerous to alloy frame guns like the tomcat

See I never liked the 320/365 trigger but people tell me I'm wrong and that it's perfectly fine, even good because they don't know when it will break so it discourages flinching.
That's just how the trigger is. You get used to it or sell it and get something with e P99 derivative trigger like the PDP or a Canik or the maggot gripper

A fuckton of dry fire or an armory craft spring kit.
Did you get unlucky with a shit trigger? Mine is pretty good, about 5 pounds with no grit or hitching. The wall is kind of long and rolling, but that's from the amount of sear engagement that keeps you from getting the p320 treatment, and my reset is pretty short and very tactile.

>Did you get unlucky with a shit trigger?
Nah it's just got that signature Sig Trigger™ sponginess that I abhor. Was wondering if there was anything out there that could make it a bit smoother. I've heard spring kits are kinda iffy to put into a carry gun but I might try it. Got a manual safety on it anyways.

decocker is much more important, manually decocking a CZ-75 is a very dangerous operation and if you do that once a day for X years, you get lax one time you could have a very bad day.

I don't know where to start. I want to buy a pistol but the sticky for FAQ doesn't work anymore. what's a good resource i can use to research a first buy? I just want something for a carry, and possibly a shotgun for home defense later on.
Considering a m9 berreta or a glock but i don't really know anything about guns. i've shot them maybe 3 times in my life ever.
Sorry if this is a common question, but again, the stickied thread is of no help.
>>
>>62545273
If you can, go to a range and rent some guns to see what you like. If you can't do that, go to a gun shop and handle all of them and see what you like. Pretty much any gun from a reputable brand like Glock, Beretta, HK, Smith and Wesson, Walther, etc. is going to be good to go. You're better off getting something large (called a "full size" pistol) or compact (a slightly-smaller-than-full-size pistol).

The only thing you *have* to do is get a 9mm. Other calibers are either ineffective or cost prohibitive for your first gun.

Beretta M9 (92FS is the civilian version) is good for a beginner, I would recommend the newer Beretta 92X RDO since it is upgraded and has more features like a light rail or an optics mount. My first gun was a M9A3. I think one of the most important things is you to be feel safe/comfortable handling the gun, which I feel the DA/SA trigger of the 92 and optional safety makes people feel confident in it being safe.

I personally would or did, watch a lot of Paul Harrel videos. Im too lazy to find it but buried somewhere in his videos is very good demonstrations how different pistols function like striker vs hammer fired etc.

By adding cocking ears to a gun people demand be under an inch thicc? HK literally has no idea what it's doing lol. What about the upper part of the grip is it you think affects carryability? That part of the frame is virtually always covered by a holster. And it's not like that thing has aggressive texture on it anyway--look at it, it has the VP9 maggots, the CHEAP version of the P30's actually good texture

>>62545273
The pastebin in OP works, what were you looking at?

Anyway don't think about it too hard. You don't know what you like yet. You can go to a gun store and feel up a bunch of stuff to make an slightly informed decision, but you won't know what your soul gun is until you shoot stuff. Just buy any gun you have heard of and enjoy it for awhile, you almost can't go wrong. Learn what you like and don't like about it.

>>
>>62545784
Doubt it. That's basically what Springfield/HS Produkt did with the Eschelon, but they let theirs stick out slightly proud on top of that. They are integral too, not dovetailed plastic addons like HK used that break off if the gun receives shock. It would be trivial to design it flush

>>62545986
Yeah bro, they come with external clicky turrets too! The VX-AR series was a killer value as well but I think those are discontinued. The reticle subtensions are really thick on these models, and the number of MOA/MIL per revolution of the turret is retardedly low due to the very old turret design, but that's pretty much the only tradeoffs. These scopes are also incredibly light, like almost nothing gets this light with these features

Yes I have been thinking about that recently actually… I have a lot of handguns I don’t shoot much and really only focus on shooting my CCWs and 1-2 “fun” guns… I really like the idea of 1 gun per essential role IE:

>CCW
>Home defense
>Fun/Range
>Plinking
>Competition (optional)

Then MAYBE one or two backups for certain roles.

So I’m possibly looking at downsizing to:

>CCW: P238
>Home defense/CCW 2: P229
>Competition: none cuz I don’t compete lol (yet) maybe a Shadow 2 or Staccato in the future? (Doubtful)
>Fun/Range: Springfield 1911 Loaded
>Plinking: Ruger Mk II target

Then I was thinking about selling the rest (+the SA 1911) to upgrade my 1911 to a Nighthawk or Wilson Combat. Then focus on buying ammo for practice for all of them.

But knowing me, I’ll probably just keep buying random guns I find on a good sale and continue to let them pile up needlessly in my safe.

If only life were so simple….
>>
>>62546239
Guns are multirole.
You could theoretically just have 2-3 guns and be happy.

I have this autism where I have to have at least 2 of everything.

The P320 trigger is about as crap as a Glock just in a different way. Instead of being gritty and hard it's mushy as all hell. I tried to put the Apex trigger in and it helped with the travel and reset, but it's still pretty crap. That being said it is absolutely usable, just like the Glock. It just requires the shooter to know and understand the situation.

Since no one addressed this part of your post, I will. The shotgun is a classic weapon for some defensive for a reason, but it's not so shrimple. Ther are not particularly easy to handel in doors, they have a relatively low capacity, are slow to reload and are insanely loud in confined spaces (take a gun with slugs to the indoor range, the Desert Eagle guys will be giving you dirty looks) Oh, and it might not penetrate like a .30-06 but it will bust through interior walls quite easily.
That being said, there really isn't anything else that isn't crew served that can unleash that much force in a single pull of the trigger.
I guess what I am saying is make sure you do your homework before you grab a Mossberg in the middle of the night.

lol wut?

Anyway, lowering the hammer on a gun with the trigger us pure retardation. The only ND I ever had was doing that with a Hi-Power at the range. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to have it pointed down range because I knew it was dumb. Safties are important on SA guns, but redundant on DA/SA guns with a decocker. Also, slide mounted controls are retarded.

Semi auto shotguns recoil very little. Lighter recoil loads of buckshot exist, you really don’t need to propel .33 caliber soft lead balls that fast to be effective.

Winchester Super X 00 9 pellet is a low recoil load out of the Beretta 1301, I have some Federal 00 12 pellet that recoils a lot but isn’t anything unmanageable.
