Scalarworks KICK or KAC Skyscraper? Want to pair it with a 3XMAG-1 on an Aimpoint Flip/Twist magnifier mount.

Prefer the KAC for aesthetics but its always OOS.

neither, dont do this. Slaving your magnifier to your riser sucks balls and requires you to move your red dot back to meet the eyebox of your magnifier. It looks super cool when the red dot is in the proper position but it looks like ass when you pull it back. A 3X may give you some more room compared to what I did but I find that in general it still sucks. Just do a Unity setup, its lighter

Already tried the Unity setup. Got the right eye relief by moving the magnifier back; however, it blocked access to the charging handle in the "down" position.

Riser with flip-to-side magnifier gives 2.26" optic centerline without blocking the charging handle. Forward lean of the red dot mount spans 3 picatinny slots and helps make up for moving the riser back for eye relief.
>>
>>62674755

>>
>>62674925
Yep, 3XMAG-1. Got used to an upright shooting position with my head far back from the receiver with a 2.26" red dot. Added the magnifier and realized I'd have to move forward a good 2" to get good eye relief if the ocular lens is over the charging handle.

If it's a matter of retraining then fuck it, I'll get used to it. Just curious if a riser setup is a feasible workaround.

Appreciate the help, guys.

Nonightvisionfag here: Wouldn't an FTC magnifier like the Unity get in the way of NODs when flipped down?

With the KAC Skyscraper and an FTS mount, you could flip it out of the way and get more room while keeping it on your gun. You could also get the Aimpoint Twist/Flip mount and get true QD instead of having to mess with an ADM lever.
>>
>>62675448
you remove the magnifier at night because like fuck are you using a magnified optic with NODs
>>
>>62675453
Is it better to have to remove it each night, or just keep it flipped to the side on the Skyscraper? Aimpoint's FTS twistmount also related
>>
>>62675491
Gee anon, is it better to take the one pound weight that doesn't fucking do anything off the gun, or leave it dangling off the side of the gun for no fucking reason like a jackass? This is obviously a hard decision to make because it takes less than a fucking second to remove, so this is some big ass commitment you're making.

RIS III or URX 4?

File: ris 3.jpg (138 KB, 1214x503)

>>62675791
URX 4. RIS III is a dogshit rail that weighs more than many quad rails, negating the only advantage to mlok. It weighs ~1 oz less than a similar length RIS II, basically the heaviest quad rail you can even get. I don't even understand how they made it that heavy considering you could just take a RIS II, grind off the pic rail, and dremel in some mlok slots and it'd weigh less.
>hard mode
URX 4 looks clean and utilitarian. Clear winner.

with all the optics options today a magnifier is just a way to make your night gun half decent in the day time.
>>62675806
dogshit take.
RIS 3 gets you strudy mlok handguard that manages heat soak better than any other mlok handguard. So if you actually shoot your gun more than once per beat off the bench at your fudd range it's a nice feature.
Additionally, it's thicker than any other mlok rail which means it's a lot more comfortable ergonomically.
>muh weight
yeah there's no way around weight if you want a handguard that doesn't get hot fast.

you can do that but I still like having something that's manageable without them if need be for whatever reason

I have both. Block 2 is a vibe and I definitely prefer pic rail over mlok.
RIS 3 is more comfy but RIS 2 is just cooler.
As complete uppers from DD both are good and can't go wrong either way.
If you're trying to min maxx on weight neither option is going to be the top contender but once you start throwing lights, lasers, and suppressors on things it's going to get front heavy either way.
>>
>>62677166
I've never even seen an ris 3 in person so I can't comment on those but I'd like to try one. I think the bcm is good for a rifle you aren't trying to turn into a night rifle. Put a light on it if anything and that's it.

Windshield being replaced is happening right now (coordinating with insurance), and that is going to be the first step to some (minor) electric grimlins being exterminated. This weekend flush refill of power steering, cabin air filter swap, new hoses for pic related, and removing the shitty chink towbar on the back that is rusted out.

Diff probably won't happen for a couple weeks yet, will be doing that with a friend, but the fluid flush for the diff is happening this weekend. If it looks like Iron Giant bile, will report back. The leak has not worsened, truck sounds and runs "fine".

This is amateur shit right here
Straight up amateur hour
"Um hello, amateur department?" Oh wait, it's for you
Alright kid, let me straighten you out. I'm not here to larp as an "oper8r", I'm just trying to make sure you understand the fundamentals of the game you're entering.
Let's start with the basics. Ya got a rig, kid What are you running? I utilize the Viking Tactics assault chest rig. It's a good quality option for a number of tactical problem sets. Whether I'm maneuvering about the battlespace or conducting assault/displace ops as part of a 3-to-2 unmanned augmentee urban arrestor team, I like to keep my kit relatively low weight to assist in mantling complex terrain.
What kind of threads you got, son? Contrary to popular belief, clothing makes or breaks most operations. Tactical clothing ("garment systems" to the tactical professional) enable the warfighter to maintain his readiness posture while reducing stress on the combat chassis. My recommendation? The Crye Precision G3 Combat Pant paired with a First Tactical Men's Tactix System Jacket. It's low profile, which helps because I run a "grayman" urban setup as my EDOC (Every Day Outer Carry).
Your weapon choice? Honestly, kid, it don't matter what you're using, longarm, sidearm, or scattergun, so long as you train. I can't emphasize enough how many times my reflex training in bleeding edge tactical maneuvers has carried the day, especially in so-called "light ops" (as if that's ever the case!) Snapshots, daylight-runner drills, trapping-the-keyhole; it's that focus on the basics that carries the fight. Stress shoots from prone and standing? Okay. Stress shoots while shrimping out of a training partner's guard? That's where you build those skills.
In all, one warrior to another, you'll get there kid. I'm seeing the raw material to make a true combat-athlete. Don't neglect your fundamentals, and remember to stay sharp out there.

At my range you have to qualify to use the 200,400, and 600 (I forget which ones are yards and which are meters)

the manual said 75w90 for the transfer case and
80w90 for the two diffs below 18c then they updated that to 75w85 for the rear diff closer to the end of production. 75w85 essentially doesn't exist and the closest thing between 75w85 and 80w90 is 75w110. Also amsoil makes toyota gear oil look like chinese gutter oil.

>>
>>62678798
Saving weight on the very front end of the gun is always a good thing.
Gross weight matters in the context of long durations and yeah maybe 4oz won’t make a huge difference but when you slap it on the very front of your gun it’s going to be immediately noticeable anytime you pick it up and has a major impact on things like target transitions

Nobody is saying that a lighter but functionally equivalent system is worse, or even that weight doesn't matter. The point is that if you already have an ASR hub in your suppressor and ASR muzzle devices on your uppers, the cost and loss of secondary retention is NOT worth swapping out to Rearden. Not even close. If you're buying your first can and not invested in any mount system yet, and want to go Rearden, go for it.
>>
>>62679087
We're just talking about weight savings overall. Not that specific system any more.

Even 'lift more' posters aren't saying heavier is better. They're saying that you're hyperfixating on incredibly marginal spec sheet numbers and trivial differences in weight between components that won't make a meaningful difference on their own, while also implying you wouldn't care as much if you were a little stronger. It's a lazy way to make an argument, but this is what I mean by you imagining an argument into existence.

You're talking about beercanning a vertical grip like its 2004. you own a shitrod ar with magpul handguards. i can imagine the distance between your spilts is about as wide as when moses parted the fucking red sea
go watch any of the hundreds of videos posted by winning competition shooters on youtube and learn how to actually shoot a rifle.

He just did 8.6 and 6 arc
I think he's waiting to see if it goes anywhere. I think he could build something that works with both loads, but I'm not sure if the dimensions are different between the commercial spec and milspec versions
