An LPVO which is scorned for 'being heavy' is lighter than an elcan and is more versatile
>>
>>62741465
The acog with a mount is less than half that, as we already established. 14.9 oz
>>
>>62741466

>>
>>62741474
no, LPVOs are tiny and have shitty characteristics in low light or mixed light. they might be able to have more zoom settings, but an elcan or acog shits all over it in terms of glass and actual performance.
>>
>>62741433
>primary arms

>>
I read somewhere that I shouldn't be shooting rifles without a brass deflector if I'm left handed, is that true?
>>
>>62741505
Why aren't you right handed?
>>
>>62741505
youll be fine if it's a milspec upper with milspec deflector on it. if it's got a mini or slickside upper, you have to cut 1-2 spirals off of the ejector spring to tune the ejection pattern away from your face.
>>
>>62741505
>left handed
Not A2 approved
>>
>>62741511
Dunno really, as a kid my left hand just made more sense because English is written from left to right. I wasn't very smart. It transferred over to most things involving hand dominance.
I could probably shoot with my right but it wouldn't be comfortable.
>>
>>62741502
>3x 4x
But why settle for the shittier optic when the acog is right there?

There's a 6x acog, your point?

>>
>>62741486
Do you own an lpvo that makes you think that? I ask because while I have heard this online I still don't really notice a glass clarity difference between my acog and my PA lpvo and my PA prism sight. All my red dots have noticeably worse glass clarity than all my optics with zoom have more or less the same quality glass. I don't really know what the big fuss is
>>
>>62741466
Retard
>>62741474
No they’re not
>badger ordnance C1
>6 oz
>Razor 1-6
>21.5 oz
>elcan 1/4
>23.2 oz
The elcan also distributes it’s weight further back
>more versatile
Razor is easier to use but elcan is actually designed for combat.
One of them you can hammer throw into the middle of the street and will still work and one of them you will have to RMA from completely normal use.
Not worth it for me on a LARP gun but for matches and general range use sure
>>
>>62741528
My point was that they're fine. And with PA prism sights and Acogs existing like you pointed out, we don't need to settle for overly heavy optics. The original point of the argument was the elcan is heavy, and if you are this anon>>62741405 the point was to illustrate there are plenty of viable optics that are less than a fucking pound
>>
>>62741534
I tossed my primary arms slx prism sight like 10 yards and it didn't lose zero

try it at dusk or when the lighting is shit. LPVOs just cant compete, it's simple physics, LPVO has a 28mm aperture, cog and elcan are 32mm lens and a girthier tube too. and they're both effectively fixed-power and no adjustable diopter, so theres very little light-loss.

yeah i'm writing up some posts on what i've tried so far and how i've gone about designing the pushers/cases/cones, going to include both the stls as well as the fusion 360 project file related stuff so people can make adjustments for their printers

also trying to come up with some simpler pusher designs so you can just fill them up with washers or steel shot (like .007" diameter) instead of doing weird shit like epoxying stuff and shit, ideally I'd like to get a couple designs that you can just fully print, then super glue together and be done

people also seem to be allergic to just modifying the original designs, like they'll hollow out the pushers to fill them up with washers or other junk to epoxy it, but don't think to just like ... change up the nose cone ever so slightly so you don't have to epoxy

How much should your ejection pattern shift mag dumping during full auto? I know the AR has a pretty wide variance in its cyclic rate and it will climb as you keep shooting, but would you expect the pattern to go from 4 to 2 in the course of a mag? What about 4 to 3?

It shouldn't shift at all ideally. My theory as to why it gets progressively more gassed would be as the barrel, gas block, and gas tube heat up, the holes open up slightly allowing more gas to flow. Or, perhaps the bolt and gas rings heating up forms a tighter seal, making your gun run more efficiently as it heats up. Or maybe you happened to stack the hotter rounds first and the weaker rounds last.

2 stage triggers are meant for taking more accurate shots. single stage triggers are for more rapid fire follow up shots. so it depends.

Recently some dude let me shoot his 3-gun ar with somekind of geissele 2stage trigger and it was night and day difference, but im not really keen on spending that much unless really needed.
No need to be a cunt mate.
>>
>>62742749
t. so low iq that you need two separate walls to remind you that your taking a shot

there is absolutely 0 reason to use a 2 stage trigger besides being retarded
it gives you the exact opposite of a "cleaner break"

decide you want to shoot
dont hesitate
pull the trigger

thats all it takes to be just as "accurate" with a single stage trigger

i get the idea behind two stage triggers but the fact that there is still a "wall" in a single stage trigger makes them pointless in my mind

if you are extreme long range shooting why cant you sit against the single stage wall and wait to break it?
is a two stage trigger just a extra layer of safety incase you go past the first wall? how is it any less likely to negligently discharge anyway if you are going past the first wall and sitting on the second wall?
thats still a single wall between you and the shot

maybe i just havent shot long range enough to "get it"

The muzzle devices work on every ASR mount, the different types are just for the different mounting patterns on different silencers. Bravo=HUB. The only potential issue you might run into is clearance with the first baffle on the DD. I wouldn’t. It all depends on your budget but Davidson doesn’t have a great rep for QC and parts quality but for 500$ it’s not a terrible deal if that’s the top of your budget. Idn what their warranty is like but if you can spend more you’d be better off getting a BCM that you can trust.

I have an A1 clone that constantly chokes. It has a surplus A1 upper on an H&R lower. Inevitably the bolt will get hung up on a round multiple times per magazine. Sometimes it will go into battery on its own but usually I have to pull the charging handle back and let it go to chamber the round. This seems to be happening every fourth or fifth round regardless of what magazine I use despite it being cleaned and lubed. What’s going on?

I personally think sfp use is for an inherently flawed pou but that doesn't mean it's not working for someone else. You have to put it in context of the other features of the scope, such as the reticle, lum, and mag range.

SFP gives you the same reticle at all levels of magnification.
The tradeoff is that it's only accurate at the extremes so in this case 1x and 6x.
That is useful if
>you want a 1x that doesn't need illumination
>you want a BDC for quick "good enough" shots
Once you get into FFP on an LPVO you have to really ask yourself what your use case is and if it makes sense to give up so many features of a true scope just to get a 1x especially if that 1x needs illumination but has a short battery life and you're running a top dot anyway.
No definitive right or wrong answer just comes down to use case.
Also pushing the glass from 1-8 or 1-10 with a small objective is really asking a lot and it makes the top end tough to use anyway so if you really need 10x that bad you probably should just go to a 2-12 or even 4-16 that way you can at least back it off a little.

>1x is useless
its only noticeably worse when firing at extreme close range. once you are out to realistic rifle ranges (15yards and out) its perfectly fine. and a 3inch above bore red dot introduces a LOT of problems for quick shooting in close. I am no longer a proponent of the lpvo/t2 stack.

as a long time lpvo supporter, I will say that the desire for ffp on a 6x or even 8x is stupid. you're adding two extra lenses to dim light for a feature that is pretty pointless (shooting at a distance of like 300 and out with less than max magnification).

If the 1x isn't useless, then why did you put a t2 on top of your optic? You don't own nods so it isn't that. It's because you don't want to change your zoom. The 1x on an lpvo is useless. It will never be used.

at ranges where you will be tempted to use less than max magnification there is no need to use holdovers...
>>62744138
because you live and you learn.
I bought into the active nv aiming meme until I heard a cag vet mock the trend and say that their sop was 'lol just don't turn on your laser until you are shooting' as late as like 2019. pushing aggressive, practical shooting through that setup showed me the weakness of losing a good cheekweld and how that handicapped a strong and consistent mount on the rifle. its a subpar 1x solution. the height over bore is also goofy in very close range shooting (<10 yards) when you are trying to shoot partials, or head shots in the credit card. there is no perfect setup, but I think the dot on top is a pretty lackluster attempt at a solution that isn't really needed. for the dwot, a good lpvo, a lam, and a sub moa 11.5 in. barrel with an rc2 is the way.
>>62744148
we'll see how it holds up...
it should be fine, ocks screws have some serious knurling and it won't take much contact to keep them in place.
>>62744169
I've done enough shooting at 100-600 to think I'd be more than happy with a sfp and better light transmission. the atacr is good, but I'd rather it be sfp hd.

>a 3inch HOB red dot introduces a lot of issues at close range
Other way around.
Unless you’re trying to do perfect headshots you either just hold high or you can even just hold center and if your recoil management is ok you’ll still get a-zone hits which is all I care about, personally.
I’m not a huge fan of top dots but it is what it is

Unfortunately I am not thrilled with FMs recoil spring system, or charging handle design desu. We'll see if this one has any updates from their prior models. The recoil spring is a dual nested spring and prone to binding, the shorted BCG leaves a gap in the ejection port (not a big deal but still worth mentioning), and the charging handle is grit city if you get anything in it and prone to binding at least until it's broken in. I wiped mad aluminum flake out of mine after charging it ~100 times trying to smooth it out.

However, I do like the safety detent retaining system, the upper/lower tension screw, and their previous handguard retention system.

FM will never make it if they don't invest in a better website though.
>>
>>62743500
Need a bit more information. What's your brass deflector look like/how is your ejection pattern? Did you try with any other magazines or just the 1? What ammo are you using? Does your rifle lock the bolt back after firing the last round in a mag? Is your bcg working correctly, and do you have another one to try?

The trend was less a response to fighting taliban team 6 who have stolen pvs14s to the classic gen 1/2 commercial shit alongside digital NV systems proliferating to insurgent groups.

Its such a secondary concern with mass availability of handheld thermals. Even the sickest stealth copter festooned with the latest in MIC is having a lot harder time with the DShK team equipped with a 320 25mK thermal.

Golden age of DA team anywhere creeping on anyone coming to an end desu. As is obama war of drones era.
>>
>>62744199
Ejection pattern is at 2 o’clock. I was using IMI M193 using various USGI mags (Colt, Okay, PSA). The bolt is locking back on the last round. I swapped the BCG from another rifle that has been reliable and it exhibited the same issue in the problem A1.

I understand that you hold high, but the shooting trend now is target focused. and its likely going to stay that way forever. instead of simply looking where you want the bullet to go and allowing the optic and gun to follow your sight, you're constantly having to think 'where do I want the bullet to go' and then look up a few inches from that. not hard if you're shooting slow and steady but as you try to speed things up it becomes and unnecessary layer of complication that is every bit as annoying as having to deal with the non-true 1x and fishbowling of an lpvo. and that's ignoring that your mount is a lot more inconsistent with a chinweld and all the problems that stem from that.
>>62744214
I'd assume they've run into it and put a serious thinking cap on as to how to deal with it.
>>62744232
>Skill issue
I could learn to shoot my glock with a teacup grip or a proper grip for a semi-auto. one is a lot smarter than the other. same goes for unnecessarily high dots. I'm going back to lower 1/3rd or lower. Skyscraper mounts and their consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Eotech still reigns supreme for passive night shooting. If I can see it I can hit it. I'm holding out for a dedicated thermal scope for my toob upper. Hoping the halo xrf start coming down in price soon once the 1280 res thermals start proliferation. But the DWOT is a meme, if anything i like to nitpick because it stirs discussion and constructive discourse.

It's because it's detent is aluminum rubbing on steel, eventually it wears a groove and becomes useless.
>>
>>62744272
>you're constantly having to think 'where do I want the bullet to go' and then look up a few inches from that.
That's what training is for.
The biggest issue IMO isn't holdovers it's muzzle awareness.
I have a top dot on my elcan and anytime I am shooting from a structure I try to use the elcan's 1x instead of the top dot because it's very easy to shoot the structure instead of your target with the top dot.
In an awkward position though sometimes the top dot is the only way I can get a sight picture so just have to double check my muzzle.

Stacked T2 atop a 1.5" mount is killer and is sitting even lower than an ACOG
High dot standalone mounts help with NV pickup
You went out and bought the tallest LPVO mounts possible and then put a stacked dot ontop, no shit youre going to have issues. Stop being a retard.

I bought an eotech as my first optic because I had no idea what I was doing but I am fairly confident that I will never buy another one again and I will just stick with T2s.
T2s are lighter, you can leave them on, they don't shift zero with temperature change, and they are much easier to operate with gloves on; just turn a dial bro. As a bonus you can use a T2 as a secondary sight on almost any set up. They are incredibly versatile and simple to use which is why they're still so prevalent today.

there's no out-training the fact that its a vastly inferior way to mount the rifle. I've also found the hardest thing to do well is target focus. having one platform that I use my eyes differently on, for no real reason whatsoever, is an inferior way to train when I could just have every gun, including my pistols, function similarly in terms of focus.
>>62744341
my mount is 1.54. there are few mounts that bring it lower than that. the question is why would I drill two different ways when I could drill one? and we are all ignoring the fact that chinwelds are shitty ways to mount the rifle and are going to put a noticeable handicap on your ability to shoot quickly and accurately.
