Ocular coti is gonna be raw once it drops.
Anyone have hands on experience with RH25/PFN640 and can weigh in on how the standalone mode compares to using it as clip on with an LPVO or a scope with higher min zoom, like 3x? I'm gonna use mine on a 308 rifle for hogs at around 50 meters distance.
Am I a moron for considering pairing armasight watchman + ls221 rather than going with a laserspeed?
>>62852070Should work fine for that, v2 has a better display but it's not so much better as to be worth another $2000. V1 is usable up to 4x, above that the limitations of the display become apparent and you can see the LCD grid (picrel, 6x). If you get a v1 update it to 124 firmware to improve contrast.
>>62851792Checked it out at ECNS cool concept but still a little rough around the edges and the frame rate needs stabilized
>>62852070It would work fine for that. I wouldn’t go past 4x with the RH25. Clip on just changes the zoom to. Wow it more suited for being in front of an optic. If you want a dedicated optic that simply sits on a rifle get a different thermal but if you want something to scan with too it’s a decent choice at a good price
>>62852898To make it*

is there any good clip on thermals for use with .308?
Official holosun iris specs were released. Basically the illuminator output will be the same as a FP peq but VSCEL of course. Should be way stronger than the one from SHOT show.

>Cowerker wants NV for "night boating">Balks at the idea of anything over $1500>Have absolutely no idea what to suggest
>>62856035Buy once cry once and explain that the Amazon “night vision” is trash and a kids toy.
>>62856045He was looking at sionyx and I had to stop him.
>>62856035The Sionyx marine digital nv is in that range and decent for most brown water stuff if he's caught out after sunset just trying to get back to berth. It will plug right into his existing MFD and anecdotally a lot of guys like that they can see color with the digital nv to more easily identify buoys as long as there is enough moonlight or coastal city glow unlike the various thermal marine cameras that are monotone. If he demands performance in open water and black skies though he's going to need to spend like 4x+ his budget on a FLIR marine thermal.
>>62852887An upgraded version is in the works, idk if he did tell you but yeah the upgraded version will be way better.

Buy laserspeed or keep waiting for iris?
>>62856710Do you even shoot with night vision? If so what are you currently using and how bad do you need to upgrade? If not wait so you can make a more informed comparison. Overall, Laserspeed worth it to use for a season since iris doesn't even have a launch date that I'm aware of and it will probably have some issues off the bat + be sold out Again, unless you need something right away I would just keep waiting.
Speaking of, are the m6trs with updated port being sold now?
>>62856725I have money set aside ready to buy tubes/helment, wilcox mount, ect, will be a go for Black Friday deals. I wanna start shooting asap but can wait if smart. Worried about trump tariffs, if the iris will even materialize, ect. I night shoot with friends a couple times a year (going either thanksgiving night or Black Friday next, maybe both, hopefully last time I need to borrow guns/helmet) but am dependent on borrowing equipment from friends atm.
>>62856794>>62856725The equipment I use now is jank. The helmet is fine, mono green phos gen3 pvs but I’m stuck using a stribog with a ls321 or a akm with a strela and a jank perst
>bought a peq from tacswap from foxlimasales in 2023>got a call over over a year later from a navy investigator saying this guy was selling stolen property and I have to surrender itI’ve never been in this situation before. I’m gonna surrender it because it’s just not worth it. Basically threw away 2k. Might just wait for the iris.
>>62856954Were you the one who told Dan in the other thread? That sucks man, I’d rather smash it with a sledgehammer than turn it in. Its cool for them to give the taliban 10,000 pews but god fucking forbid you and Dan have em
>>62856964Yup that’s me. It has more to do with this faggot stealing these to resell. I should have just stayed with my fat dbal d2.
>>62857002Should have bought a perst3 when you had the chance.
>>62856954You should really talk to a lawyer. I am not a lawyer and this does not constitute legal advice. The investigator doesn't get to walk around 4th and 5th amendment protections just because he's military. How do you know he's really an investigator? Could be foxlimasales or an associate trying to recover inventory so he can double dip under a new alias. The seller is legally going to be involved if this goes south anyway, so I hope you kept his information. If you didn't, serving tacswap with a subpoena would likely get you the same info but would take longer. legal@tacswap.com.If the investigator turns out to be legit and you are lawfully compelled to surrender the PEQ, you can potentially recover the 2k in a suit against foxlimasales (the actual person, not his account, lol) if you had no notice the PEQ was stolen and he misrepresented it to you. It's hardly a valid contract for illegality. I'd get a lawyer's opinion though if I were you, especially when it comes to collecting from the seller if he's facing criminal charges for this and is out of work / kicked out of the military. Can't get blood from a stone, but you can get a judgment to garnish and place liens on assets up to the limits of state law under which he resides. That's a discovery problem and will require a lawyer.Or you can just give up the 2k and basically hope no further charges arise, since it's unclear whether you knew or should have known you were in receipt of potentially stolen property. If I were you I'd seriously get a lawyer, both to defend against the investigator and any related prosecution, and also to recover against foxlimasales for misrepresenting the PEQ to you. You wouldn't have bought it if you knew it was hot, right? I doubt you'll be able to keep it, especially since you just admitted you're in possession of it, but you haven't thrown away the 2k just yet. Contact your state's bar association for a lawyer that specializes in this sort of work.
>>62856964Again, not a lawyer, but if you destroy it upon receiving notice it's apparently stolen property then you're basically exposing yourself up to the value of the PEQ you just wrecked. That is assuming they weren't able to recover any funds for this specific PEQ from the seller. If they got the value $$ from him they can't double recover from the buyer and make $4k off a $2k PEQ.It's a conversion tort issue, fundamentally. Again, buyer here needs to get a lawyer.
>>62857245The investigator is 100% legit, he sent me his card and I am meeting him tomorrow at the FBI office to surrender it. I did not know this thing was stolen nor did foxlima tell me it was. Foxlima had tons of transactions under tacswap and snipershide so I thought he was legit when I looked him up. I considered it but the legal fees may be more than what the peq is worth.
>>62857358If that's the case then there's no reason why you can't recover the 2k + legal fees from foxlima. It sounds like he made bank off these tons of transactions, so the question is whether the feds cleaned him out and/or other ripped-off buyers have gotten to him first. In many states you can garnish income if he gets employed down the road via a judgment, although what he did is probably dishonorable discharge / felony tier given that, per your earlier statement, he stole multiple of "these" - individually valued at 2k. He'll have a hard time getting above-table employment with that on his record. If that's the case, and the investigator is totally cool if you just surrender the PEQ, then you can leave it be. However, I'd still see if you can recover against foxlima. Maybe get other buyers on board and split the legal fees across a class of plaintiffs. I'm obviously not privy to foxlima's assets so the question is still ultimately whether he has anything you can get a judgment on.
$420 shipped for the EvolutionGear NGAL (not IS). Worth trying out?
>>62858080I thought the EG's NGAL was basically what IS was using as their host and IS just "improves" the EG's stuff like potting and adding better water resistance seals. Even the name "IS-EG" is used on the IS review here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IncbyZ9kTIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B1x2Df8rfw
>>62858115AFAIK IS gets unassembled components from EG and does a lot of quality control to throw away bad parts. I haven't seen many reviews of the NGALs that come direct from EG or Spec Precision.
>>62858080it's a 50/50 chance if it'll have illum and laser artifacts or hold zero direct from specprecision
why the fuck would anyone use a g24 when the CHADex exists, this thing is built like a fucking tank. never going back to wilcox.
>>62858459Aliexpress does have a pretty good return policy. Hopefully these defects are easy to catch. And the SomoGear NGAL is actually a bit cheaper.
>>62858570I admittedly haven't ordered from Aliexpress before. How does it compare to Ebay? Ebay's got a pretty cut and dry return policy for items not as described or not received. My understanding is that Aliexpress tends to have a higher percentage of scammery going about.>>62858459I'll let you know when I get my green SP DBAL-A4 if it has any artifacts. Might be a minute though.>>62853283Pic rel is the best but will run like $70k (FLIR HISS HD). Anything from Infiray, Pulsar, or maybe AGM (eh) will be fine and not cost a Porsche. I have a Burris BTS myself on a 5.56 but I'm not confident in its ability to withstand .308 recoil, so I won't recommend their BTC series for your application. Pulsar's stuff is rated to .375 H&H so I'd window shop them first. I'm not impressed with the footage I've seen of Chinese PARD units, so I'd dodge those.>>62853185Run to the FLIR booth if they're there and try to look at the new HISS HD. It's like $70,000 so I doubt you'll be allowed to touch it, but it's the best thermal clip-on out there bar none. Apparently border patrol picked up a few.
>>62857358Why did you admit to having it?! Just say you sold it and it’s gone and then call a lawyer. People incriminate themselves too much
>>62858703To be fair a lot of people aren't "in the know" regarding gray-market tactical goods. People get nailed for "milsurp" (no) plates sold on Ebay and what not from time to time. XSAPIs in particular, the M993-rated off-white ones, are especially hot. Little more leeway with SOCOM-contract plates, but anything rated for tungsten core ammunition is going to be playing with fire much like PEQ buyer anon's situation. The LAM / NV situation is no different. Apparently Tacswap gives up real easy when faced with a subpoena.
>>62858703>who did you sell it to anon? We need record of this transaction
>>62858115>>62858275I wonder how much reinforcement is actually done, and whether IS can be undercut by people group buying EG into doing the potting and extra QC themselves.Every 1-2 months there's a new upstart on tacswap that advertises reinforced SOTACs, Somogears, or EGs and then it turns out they ain't doing shit and they skip town. I know IS has a reputation but shenanigans are not unheard of with this stuff.
>>62858724>A guy I met at the gas station last month coming back from the range, never got his name but he paid cash up front and left.
I want to get cheap gen 1 for civilian use. Is there anything decent?
>>62858775At that level maybe some of the digital units from SiOnyx would be decent contenders. Gen 1 is... antiquated to say the least.
>>62858676I'm planning to buy another one of the A4s for an SPC9 PDW-SD either way, it's the best unit for compact guns, even better than the gl4 in my opinion (if it can hold zero).
>>62858724>sorry sold it at a night shoot after sparking up a convo. Didn’t get his name. This dudes not getting a warrant for your home
>>62858853Agreed. The investigator probably has a long list of items to go through and won't be busting balls for individual PEQs when he's got a hundred of them to deal with.
>>62858676also i forgot to mention you WILL need to replace the qd mount on the specprecision a4. there is no way it will hold zero. just buy a unity fusion hub to replace it.
>>62858896Much obliged. I'll make sure to order that. Thanks!
>>62858676You got the SP DBAL from eBay? How much?
>>62859022Haven't ordered it yet, but the plan is directly from SP for the green-laser version, $355.00. I'm going to order it well before any potential tariffs come in that would affect pricing. I noticed the Ebay sellers are mostly charging $100 extra over what SP is. Aliexpress is selling for about the same price as Specprecision, so I might go that route instead since I feel like going through AE has better buyer protections than direct.
>>62859061Aliexpress has 11.11 sale going on and I have a lot of coins from using the app for so long, which is why the two NGAL screenshots I posted are so cheap.
>>62859070Thanks for the heads up. I looked again and one vendor on AE has the green laser for $312 + free shipping. I'll be going that route.I did notice another vendor has a "top quality" version for a whoppin' $860. Wonder if there's actually a difference between the two or it's just AE shenanigans.
>>62859094It'll be higher after tax. There are lots of coupons floating around that you have to manually collect. Go to the 11.11 sale page and get those, go to the seller's store page and get any they have posted, then follow the seller and they might send you more coupons in a couple hours.
>>62858892He probably will because it's his job and wtf are you going to do about it
>>62859515He ain't getting around the constitution bud. If peq buyer didn't admit possession on a public forum he'd have a variety of defenses to the investigator's attempts as anons have demonstrated.
>>62858787Yeah, but anything more advanced costs an arm and leg on my country.Europe, btw. Not sure what we can even get here.
>>62854286A campfire shouldn't have done that. It's probably a piece of dust that moved, and will hopefully fuck off back to the invisible edge. I haven't seen that (fingers crossed) on my gen 3, but my gen 1 tube has a large piece of dust that moves around every time I take it on a night hike or mtb ride.
>>62855917Possibly, if the blem was caused by a piece of dust that later moved.
>>62856109Was going to post this. SiOnyx marine or Aurora Pro are probably good enough for his needs.
>>62860887Sionyx is just barely usable for night vision shooting (you won't have a good time) and you want to tell him to get it for driving a boat?
>>62860880I hope your right
I really hope the IRIS ends up being good. It's 2 oz lighter than the M6TR while hopefully performing at a similar level of power.
>>62861449They said it comes out this year so hopefully we find out soon
>>62861797Yeah I hope so. Pretty big change to be making in Q4, though I presume that the change has been in the works for quite some time. Regardless, a lighter weight benefits me greatly on any of my night potential rifles.
>>62858080I got one for even less, and at this point I would not recommend it. I would wait for the IRIS or a laserspeed product or something else. I would be happier with my Evolution Gear NGAL if the illuminator focus adjustment didn't have a ton of hysteresis. >>62858570The Evolution Gear IS style NGAL is superior to the Somogear for a couple reasons. Recoil lugs, and the illuminator focus goes wider. >>62861449>>62861797Yeah I'm pretty interested in it also. It has an adjustable focus illuminator right with a pretty easy to actuate spin wheel?I wonder what the brightness adjustments are like on the IR illuminator and IR laser.
>>62861984>It has an adjustable focus illuminator right with a pretty easy to actuate spin wheel? If they are still sticking with the original Iris design, it has a slider for the focus adjustment.

>>62863838Be not afraid.>>62863861I'm not made of money.
>>62863815hurts light transmission, -10% to your specs.
>>62862992Why rear projected? Can a regular one call burn ins if too bright?
>>62864011burn in, front heavier, cuts light transmission a bit.
>>62861221Fundamentally the usage is different. On a boat at night he will have visible nav lights on unless he wants trouble with johnny law and almost certainly a white light as well even if its a weak one. By adding digital nv to the mix that means instead of just a narrow spot or puddle of short range flood, the digital nv is going to be able to stretch whatever visible light the boat is already providing way further and with more fill than the pilots naked eye. It's just like you don't need I2 over digital for security cameras, it's no big deal to provide them with supplemental lighting be it IR or vis.
>>62864026I think it's going to be useless.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J250di8BM6Y
>>62863990I'm going to put UV filters on either side as well.
>>62864062Looks better than my bare tism eyes
>>62864097why planning on gooning during the day? or UV lasers
>>62864161Because I can't find clear sacrificial lenses in 30mm and 37mm
>>62864181sac lenses are fuckin gay. Most people buy shitty polymer, which would get you laughed out of the room on any rifle scope or camera. but because it's NV it's okay... for ???? reasons? On top of the optical losses from the extra lens stack, you're adding a non nitrogen purged air pocket to your device. which will double or triple your light loss in condensating conditions. its just not fuckin worth it. replacement lenses are CHEAP if you break it, and you usually get a free nitrogen purge too. the expensive part ( the tube itself) is very well protected.
>>62864062I mean were just bench racing here, but for marine usage navigating through a channel spotting buoys or scooting around the marina when you are leaving before sunrise or getting back after sunset I think it's a pretty good fit for the tech. Here is a vid of the actual marine camera in a marina (in glow+mixed light) and next to a FLIR for good measurehttps://youtu.be/SkkR4gCsaV4?si=i43ljItJkhYeiF68
>>62864216I only paid $500 for my binos and I WILL protect them with $1.50 UV lenses.
>>62864277The correct mindset.
>>62864216I got mini irises with glass and amber filters because i wanted new vegas vision
>>62864277ok. i paid $4k for my specs and i will not nerf them because im a lil pussy that cant afford a $150 replacement lens.
>>62864366i wish they made irises without the sac lens
>>62864468But they do:https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Aperture-Diaphragm-Adapter-1-5-26mm/dp/B0CHBF3JS4
>>62864484These are the same price as the ones with lenses included. Might as well buy those and take out the lens.
>>62864464Mine were $13k and I use sacrificial lenses because fuck you I have the extra 10% performance to spare anyway.
>>62864464I mitigate risk by keeping the 31a's on a shelf indoors
>>62864216Just get a glass sac lens? They have >95% transmission and are pretty cheap. Condensation goes away as temperature normalizes between air pocket and outside, no?
>occular coti is too large and I won’t be an early adopter >RIX RENV-C supposedly really annoying to operate Looks like I’m back at the TAD after all. Shame because I really liked the RENV-C features but I also like not burning a COTI into my tubes eventually
>>62864618What fun is that?
I’m stuck between getting a dbal d2, m6tr, and waiting for an iris.
>>62866718D2 is an overweight brick with a visible downrange signature. Probably the sneed or just waiting to find out if the iris is good.
>>62864216>On top of the optical losses from the extra lens stackA photographic quality UV lens won't have significant light loss or flare. It's debatable how much protection it will offer in a hard impact situation, but it will definitely protect from scratches.
>>62866718id probably roll m6tr. people seem to like them
>>62866718realistically the m6 killed the d2. the iris will just be the cherry on top of its corpse if it comes out decent.
>>62868338Iris will still have 0.7mW aiming laser even if the illum is good. I think it'll be similar in performance to MAWL c1+
I’m trying to sell a surefire vampyre light I bought for a helmet light a while ago but I can’t seem to get any buyers even when I underprice itWhere should I go to try and sell it?
>>62868953I might be interested if you'll cut an anon a deal. Otherwise, tacswap, plebbit, arfcom.
>>62868961Will you do $395 + ~$15 shipping?I’m not gonna make a paypal to use reddit’s boards and taxswap is very “pay us a ton of money or we wont show anyone your listings”
>>62866718D2 is really impressive but I think 2/3 people I know who have them all got rid of them for other options, one of them was the m6tr. The D2 for it's cost, size, and lack of ergos is hard to justify in today's market. The m6t6 shits on my FL5.The only thing I don't like about the m6 is the knob to switch between modes is really difficult to access. If you never see yourself coming off of dual low (which your laser is going to live 99% of the time anyway) then it's not really a big deal. Iris is a question mark and we don't even have a release date. On top of that almost every single product regardless of what it is has issues on its first iteration. Here's my recommendations;if you want something right away so you can go out and shoot with the boys an m6tr is going to be fine. I have seen it used in person and it's a very good laser for what it is. downside is some ergonomics but it's manageable. If you don't have a means to go shoot with night vision right away and your laser is just going to sit around then I'd wait.As I mentioned I have an FL5 and I really don't like it for a few reasons (low end laser blooms targets out, it's heavy as fuck) and while I was really impressed with the M6 I wasn't impressed enough to go out and buy one right away. I think the low end laser is still too bright and I really dislike the mode select. The Penumbra would be great if they made it mount direct to pic rail, reduced the size and weight (get rid of the retarded rmr plate) and halved the cost.
>>62868979You are doing it wrong if you pay tacswap more than the entry fee dude. People are seeing it. They just aren’t interested
>>62868979>>62868953The problem is you paid full retail for it and are trying to sell it for close to MSRP for a brand new one. If you assume 30% restocking fee that puts us at $301.70 This is a really niche light and unfortunately I don't think anyone will want it for more than $250-275
>>62866436If you want to try the ocular when the gen 2 drops I'll loan you mine
>>62870751How about $350 shippedIt’s barely been used
>>62870751This is a good point. Basic idea is if it’s opened and not a retailer selling it, assume it’s been used. No one will pay 20$ under MSRP for a they are buying second hand.

What's the cheapest pvs-14 kit available?
>>62851586Pulsar makes an app to stream the video to cell phone or tablet, but the fine print says the data (pics, vid, audio, location, ID) is sent/available to 3rd parties. So if I install the app I am giving access to all the data including all location data, does that seem safe and effective to just to use the streaming feature?
>>62874282Sounds like you have concern with data collection, so I would say it is not something you should use due to that concern.I personally have a Steiner thermal and it has an app that allows the same feature but I never read the TOS so I bet its doing the same thing but I don't have that much concern about data collection and being sent back to the manufacture or any other third-party app on the phone. If you want to have a external device viewing of your thermal optic then you can use a mini dvr that connects with the HDMI or USB cable, something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHNXXD8G but this is going to rely on using a cable.
>>62874282No. If you ever have to use the sight in association with self defense, that has two implications. Not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.1. The footage from the sight will likely appear in discovery and will be used by the other side, which matters if exact details are hazy or the prosecution tries the Rittenhouse prosecution argument of "LOOK HOW SCARY HIS GUN IS" by saying you had "terminator vision" and therefore could not be in reasonable fear of your life or serious bodily injury. Mostly a fuddism but nonetheless an issue, especially if you get a bad jury through mediocre voir dire on your atty's part or the judge is a nitwit and lets the prosecution or plaintiff walk over them. Thermals and digi NV are likely very intimidating to an uninformed jury.2. If you ever use the sight against a technically competent force you run the risk of them stream sniping you. There's a reason why all the consumer level digi NV / thermal scopes have streaming "apps" but the pro level ones don't - not even via transmission over secure MANET systems.TL;DR keep it disabled. You don't know who the third parties are and the footage can screw you over in iffy self defense cases. If you're just popping pests on your farm and want to show off with the app, who cares.>>62860887I have a hard time with SiOnyx's prices compared to Chinese digital like NVG30 / NVG50. I get the sensor is better but you're almost at analog NV pricing.
If I have an RVM-14 and I want to save for a dual setup eventually, what’s the best way to do it? Piece it together? I think if I buy the housing from Custom Nigjt Vision they will remove the tube from my RVM-14 and do all the tube installs for free.
>>62875578>what’s the best way to save for dualsYou save up the money to buy a DTNVS-MG with your choice of tubes then sell your RVM-14. That's it.
>>62875649I was thinking maybe swapping the tube from the RVM into a dual housing then selling the RVM housing might be a good option, that’s all.
>>62875707I just don't think it's worth it desu. Maybe you have an exceptionally good tube in your RVM and some vendor can find a reasonable spec match to it but it's not really going to save you much in the long run.You can get into a DTNVS-MG for like $7-8k with Photonis or Elbit, and 10k for L3. It's worth it and a better value than PVS-31a like I bought.
>>62875578Aye I bought the c35 too.
>>62875578> I want to save for a dual setup eventually, what’s the best way to do it?Save the money. If you buy a mono you'll be spending more money overall.
Okay lads, I have an idea for poorfag digital binocs. Probably the worst idea you've ever heard.1. 2x Binoc NVG-50s in a kit, $1200.2. Some clamp-on boltless rail kit from Ebay for $60.3. 2x wide-angle lenses, $110.4. Knockoff KIJI for mounting on the helmet's side rail, $100.$1470 not counting shipping / tax and it's a fairly competent helmet mountable digital setup.I got the idea from the below video showcasing a monocular NVG50. Seems pretty decent by itself.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-Xge3E5WXE
>>62874366The prices for SiOnyx aren't that bad for the stuff that isn't an opsin. A used Aurora can be found for < 300 bucks easy, which is well short the cost of any analog that isn't Gen 1 and fine for what it is. While you can get Gen 3 for the price of Sioynx's Marine system (The Nightwave), it's not really a fair comparison. The nightwave is a mounted system that outputs to a boat's console display, it's not competing with anything analog but is instead a cheaper option than more expensive FLIR mounted thermal systems.
>>62875881True, but how well does the Aurora hold up to now comparatively-priced NVG30 or NVG50 models from China? The NVG50, an incremental wide-FOV upgrade from the NVG30, seems to have an edge despite being a little more cash.
>>62875746Hmn, okay thanks. My L3 tube specs are:>SNR 33.3>Res 72>EBI .5>Halo .7>Gain 66k or so>>62875750Much better image than my AGM TC35-384 but the clip on situation sucks. Waiting on that aftermarket mount. How do you like yours?>>62875842Too late brother man, already have an RVM-14
>>62875906RIP. I guess you can loan that thing out to a friend when you get your duals.
>>62875989>>62876017Meant for you. I have no idea how I misclicked.
>>62876017>>62876019Kek I’m not upset about it bro, I can see in the fucking dark. Extremely pleased. I’m glad I bought it now as opposed to waiting another year or whatever to get duals. I can always have the tube transplanted if I like. That’s not to say that the ideal path isn’t just getting duals, I get that duals are better.
>>62875989I got that shitty Burris mount, a buddy of mine who I went shooting with yesterday is gonna 3d print an eyecup for it. I like it but probably only spent 4 hours total fucking with it so far. Looks good in front of my atacr, but it’s a heavy fuck on a 16” ris3 upper
>>62876171Yeah I’m impressed with its detection performance. Really hoping they come out with that mount soon. I’ll be using it as a monocular to scan for coyote 50% of the time at least so the weight isn’t a huge deal for me, and it’s similar to the AGM in any case. Thermals just make rifle heavy, can’t get around it it seems
>>62874282Most apps blanket ask for too much access, but those seem in line with the purpose of the app. Pics, vid, audio so the app can access those phone features to perform the recording/file access and playback. Location and phone id for gps pinning on the files maybe?Either way, Lithuania is an EU member state that has implemented GDPR, so you can always accept the terms, use it, and then request via email they delete your data under your right of erasure and if you want you can further request information about the third parties it was shared with if any. That stipulation is generally just to cover third party data centers for storage, not data brokerages.A pain in the ass for sure, but one of the few good things to come out of blanket GDPR regulations in EU.
>>62876527My concern is how secure the app actually is, and whether the networking hardware built into the scope has any vulnerabilities.
>sightmark makes an ir laser that is decentwtf?
>>62876535Probably no more secure than any other piece of consumer software (not secure to anyone determined) and as far as the scope itself it I would imagine the antenna is unpowered when the broadcast feature is disabled even if only for power saving as a design concern and not security.I guess I can understand the concerns in some crazy scenarios but as just a dude with a rifle they seem pretty unrealistic to worry about.
>>62876564this doesn't look decent in any way
>>62874335>>62874366>>62876527I was not planning to use the video record feature if I had to blast an intruder, nor stream it. I understood a part of the functionality is that you can stream to a phone/tablet and use the phone tablet to change the scope settings rather than have to should muh gun and look trough the scope. This would allow me to leave the scope plugged in (for long term power) while it sit comfy and work through all the menus to see/learn all of the options, where they are located, and turn them off and on, and make the zeroing adjustments at the range with phone/tablet. I was not interested in recording. The Stream app is available via google play, but it says I have to sign in to google play to download it. I have a spare phone with no cell chip that still works and does connect to the scope's wifi - and since the phone does cannot connect to the cellular services it cannot rat out my location. Since the scope knows when its on, transmitts to a cell phone, has an accelerometer and 2 wifi frequencies, I was concerned the datat transfer from the scope to muh phone would be something like (time scope on, duration, location, number of shots fired (from accelerometer, features used, settings, ho hey we "took" a few pics from what he is looking at and transmitting the data to NSA, or I mean our technical services department. Also, since its possible to simply mount the scope a tripod and connect a power supply an stream to tablet/phone, I could use it (since I already had it) to monitor the field/area for activity from my car, maybe house depending on range?). Just thinking about features and uses.
>>62877720Yes, you should assume the scope has metadata collection and can be readily backdoored by the government. Realistically the fed can crack anything given enough time and money, so you have to airgap anything you need absolute privacy over.
>>62877733>Realistically the fed can crack anythingI was wondering if they can turn on the wifi without the wifi indicator showing its on? Was also weary about just what other functionality is built in that is not currently used or advertised. I did not want video/audio recording or wifi but they all seem to come with it if you get at least a mid-level version for decent picture quality. My post above was a bit retarded. I meant to distinguish between a cell phone without cell service but with working wifi and a cell phone with cell service. I was thinking I could use the cell phone with cell service but the video does not work unless you download and use their stream app, and google says I have to sign in to download it. I am not that techy about all the ins and outs of apps from the app stores as I have essentially none. Can I get the app without having to sign in from some where?
>>62878174>I could use the cell phone with cell..without cell service. ...my retardation continues.
Anybody used the nt-14 kit?
>>62878174>Can I get the app without having to sign in from some where? You can manually install the apk if you can find it or the manu is willing to email it to you/give you a link. Hell, they may even be understanding about it if you say you don't have nor want a Google account.>if they can turn on the wifi...If you can imagine it, assume it's possible in some way. Likely is another story, but possible is almost always on the table. We're dangerously close to schizo territory to be worried about obscure recreational shooting/observation data privacy while ignoring that you are posting about it on 4chins. That said, not having a SIM installed, keeping wifi visually disabled until you want to connect the devices to each other and installing the app from either the apk or from a burner Google account is going to be about as "safe" as you can get. If your eyeballs still twitch after that, store the phone and scope in a faraday bag when not in use.

>>62879132pic related is what I mean by compass

Anyone know the thread spec on the blue power limiting safety screws on NGALs?>>62875989Is that a liberty precision and machine can? How do you like it?
>>62879841Yeah it’s the Liberty Precision Anthem K, and I love it. Close to Hollywood quiet with my homebrew 300blk subs. Much quieter than my full size YHM Resonator with subs
>>62875989That is indeed a great tube. Call a couple vendors that do build to order and ask if they can find an L3 with similar specs. Maybe you can get away with just buying a new housing and a second tube. Does your housing have manual gain? The tube needs the lead for it and I def suggest having manual gain.
>>62880603Thanks, and yeah I have manual gain. I’m not getting duals rn though, probably going to save up for a year or two. When it comes time I’ll probably reach back out to Custom Night Vision to see if I can do a swap
>>62875989>>62880128This guy? Very coolhttps://libertyprecisionmachine.com/product/anthem-k-30-caliber-rifle-silencer/Cool to hear that it outperforms the larger YHM Resonator full size. How is the back pressure? I am needing a can for my SCAR20SI normally don't care too much about back pressure, but for the SCAR it seems like a good idea to take that into consideration.
>>62883032I’m waiting on a CAT DD for my SCAR 20 but I don’t know what your priorities are for the can. I’m more concerned about BP then I am sound suppression
>>62883032Difficult for me to quantify. I haven’t felt like the back pressure is much/any higher than the Resonator, which is my only other 30 cal can. It’s only been on x39 Bren and 300blk XCR and 308 XCR. I do believe the can has a slightly wider circumference than standard, which may compensate somewhat for its short length, with respect to backpressure? Wish I could help ya more
>>62851586any advice on where to look for black friday deals on duals?
>>62884472The links are in the OP. They've already started their black friday sales.
>>62884149I really want it to be short, ideally sub 5" OAL with something like the YHM Kurz or Rearden Atlas or similar taper and thread mount. After that, weight. Then sound suppression and back pressure are tied. The Abel Company Biscuit S 30 cal looks really interesting. It is 4.7" OAL no mount, but hub compatible, so call it 5" with a YHM Kurz Ti mount. It is 13.2oz no mount, so 14.3oz with YHM Kurz Ti. It is also a large diameter can at 1.85" OD. Anecdotal reviews are saying decent sound reduction and not too much back pressure. I like how short it is. https://abelcousa.com/biscuit-s/I don't like that it has no flash hiding design feature on the end cap, and obviously it would be preferable if it were inconel or at least had an inconel blast baffle. The Liberty Anthem K2 has an aggressive flash hiding front cap available, and is lighter, and is cheaper, but is longer by about 0.75" and is smaller diameter at 1.75">>62884235Neat that is seems to have comparable back pressure to the Resonator full size, but better signature reduction. Yeah and it has a 1.75" OD which is a solid increase in volume.
>>62884647Pew science already measured the back pressure on the anthem K. Yeah I get pew science sucks but nobody else has done it.
Does all merino wool glow under IR? I like the fabric but I can't tell if it's inheret to the fabric or just the dyes used.Is there any kind of spray or dye that can be used to make something less glowy?

>>62886296there's nothing functionally wrong with it (other than the illuminator not being laser based and being TOO floody) I just have personal gripes about it for rail mounted use. the switches on the body of it suck unless you're using it on a pistol and the only remote switches that are made for the xvl2 interface are surefure tape switches. its also tall like a holosun ls123 and I want something more svelte like the m6tr but the m6tr has WAY too much power for a 5 inch barrel pcc.

>>62884741Thanks for the info, saved the image. I'm curious what this back pressure metric is where the Nomad L has 274x the backpressure of the Sandman K. Cool to see though that the Anthem K2 is on the low end of region 5 while the omega is on the high end of region 5 in terms of back pressure.

Is Floridanon going to address the LAM accusations
>>62853554Temper your expectations on output or it's going to disappoint. For people saying "It's the same as a PEQ-15," no it's not. I can't quantify it 100%, but from using VCSEL and EEL units side by side, there's roughly a 1/3 to 1/4th apparent output drop going from EEL to VCSEL. It's the reason the M6TR's illuminator appears brighter than on the RAID and NGAL despite being 30mW compared to the 90mW or so for the other two. It'll likely be twice as bright as something like an LS321 or I2 9007 so still a massive improvement in the semi-domestic laser market, but will probably disappoint anyone wanting an FP LAM that isn't actually FP.

Silly question, but how much consideration should be given to dot size under nvg? I've got my eyes on a holosun 508t, but also considering the 407k due to the price.
