Anyone have hands on experience with RH25/PFN640 and can weigh in on how the standalone mode compares to using it as clip on with an LPVO or a scope with higher min zoom, like 3x? I'm gonna use mine on a 308 rifle for hogs at around 50 meters distance.

Should work fine for that, v2 has a better display but it's not so much better as to be worth another $2000. V1 is usable up to 4x, above that the limitations of the display become apparent and you can see the LCD grid (picrel, 6x). If you get a v1 update it to 124 firmware to improve contrast.

The Sionyx marine digital nv is in that range and decent for most brown water stuff if he's caught out after sunset just trying to get back to berth. It will plug right into his existing MFD and anecdotally a lot of guys like that they can see color with the digital nv to more easily identify buoys as long as there is enough moonlight or coastal city glow unlike the various thermal marine cameras that are monotone.
If he demands performance in open water and black skies though he's going to need to spend like 4x+ his budget on a FLIR marine thermal.

You should really talk to a lawyer. I am not a lawyer and this does not constitute legal advice. The investigator doesn't get to walk around 4th and 5th amendment protections just because he's military. How do you know he's really an investigator? Could be foxlimasales or an associate trying to recover inventory so he can double dip under a new alias. The seller is legally going to be involved if this goes south anyway, so I hope you kept his information. If you didn't, serving tacswap with a subpoena would likely get you the same info but would take longer. legal@tacswap.com.

If the investigator turns out to be legit and you are lawfully compelled to surrender the PEQ, you can potentially recover the 2k in a suit against foxlimasales (the actual person, not his account, lol) if you had no notice the PEQ was stolen and he misrepresented it to you. It's hardly a valid contract for illegality. I'd get a lawyer's opinion though if I were you, especially when it comes to collecting from the seller if he's facing criminal charges for this and is out of work / kicked out of the military. Can't get blood from a stone, but you can get a judgment to garnish and place liens on assets up to the limits of state law under which he resides. That's a discovery problem and will require a lawyer.
Or you can just give up the 2k and basically hope no further charges arise, since it's unclear whether you knew or should have known you were in receipt of potentially stolen property. If I were you I'd seriously get a lawyer, both to defend against the investigator and any related prosecution, and also to recover against foxlimasales for misrepresenting the PEQ to you. You wouldn't have bought it if you knew it was hot, right? I doubt you'll be able to keep it, especially since you just admitted you're in possession of it, but you haven't thrown away the 2k just yet. Contact your state's bar association for a lawyer that specializes in this sort of work.

If that's the case then there's no reason why you can't recover the 2k + legal fees from foxlima. It sounds like he made bank off these tons of transactions, so the question is whether the feds cleaned him out and/or other ripped-off buyers have gotten to him first. In many states you can garnish income if he gets employed down the road via a judgment, although what he did is probably dishonorable discharge / felony tier given that, per your earlier statement, he stole multiple of "these" - individually valued at 2k. Pic rel is the best but will run like $70k (FLIR HISS HD). Anything from Infiray, Pulsar, or maybe AGM (eh) will be fine and not cost a Porsche. I have a Burris BTS myself on a 5.56 but I'm not confident in its ability to withstand .308 recoil, so I won't recommend their BTC series for your application. Pulsar's stuff is rated to .375 H&H so I'd window shop them first. I'm not impressed with the footage I've seen of Chinese PARD units, so I'd dodge those.

To be fair a lot of people aren't "in the know" regarding gray-market tactical goods. People get nailed for "milsurp" (no) plates sold on Ebay and what not from time to time. XSAPIs in particular, the M993-rated off-white ones, are especially hot. Fundamentally the usage is different. On a boat at night he will have visible nav lights on unless he wants trouble with johnny law and almost certainly a white light as well even if its a weak one. By adding digital nv to the mix that means instead of just a narrow spot or puddle of short range flood, the digital nv is going to be able to stretch whatever visible light the boat is already providing way further and with more fill than the pilots naked eye.
It's just like you don't need I2 over digital for security cameras, it's no big deal to provide them with supplemental lighting be it IR or vis.

D2 is really impressive but I think 2/3 people I know who have them all got rid of them for other options, one of them was the m6tr.
The D2 for it's cost, size, and lack of ergos is hard to justify in today's market.
The m6t6 shits on my FL5.
The only thing I don't like about the m6 is the knob to switch between modes is really difficult to access.
If you never see yourself coming off of dual low (which your laser is going to live 99% of the time anyway) then it's not really a big deal.
Iris is a question mark and we don't even have a release date.
On top of that almost every single product regardless of what it is has issues on its first iteration.
Here's my recommendations;
if you want something right away so you can go out and shoot with the boys an m6tr is going to be fine. I have seen it used in person and it's a very good laser for what it is. downside is some ergonomics but it's manageable.
If you don't have a means to go shoot with night vision right away and your laser is just going to sit around then I'd wait.
As I mentioned I have an FL5 and I really don't like it for a few reasons (low end laser blooms targets out, it's heavy as fuck) and while I was really impressed with the M6 I wasn't impressed enough to go out and buy one right away.
I think the low end laser is still too bright and I really dislike the mode select.
The Penumbra would be great if they made it mount direct to pic rail, reduced the size and weight (get rid of the retarded rmr plate) and halved the cost.

Sounds like you have concern with data collection, so I would say it is not something you should use due to that concern.
I personally have a Steiner thermal and it has an app that allows the same feature but I never read the TOS so I bet its doing the same thing but I don't have that much concern about data collection and being sent back to the manufacture or any other third-party app on the phone.

The footage from the sight will likely appear in discovery and will be used by the other side, which matters if exact details are hazy or the prosecution tries the Rittenhouse prosecution argument of "LOOK HOW SCARY HIS GUN IS" by saying you had "terminator vision" and therefore could not be in reasonable fear of your life or serious bodily injury. Thermals and digi NV are likely very intimidating to an uninformed jury.

TL;DR keep it disabled. You don't know who the third parties are and the footage can screw you over in iffy self defense cases. If you're just popping pests on your farm and want to show off with the app, who cares.

2. Some clamp-on boltless rail kit from Ebay for $60.

4. Knockoff KIJI for mounting on the helmet's side rail, $100.

$1470 not counting shipping / tax and it's a fairly competent helmet mountable digital setup.

A used Aurora can be found for < 300 bucks easy, which is well short the cost of any analog that isn't Gen 1 and fine for what it is. Either way, Lithuania is an EU member state that has implemented GDPR, so you can always accept the terms, use it, and then request via email they delete your data under your right of erasure and if you want you can further request information about the third parties it was shared with if any. Probably no more secure than any other piece of consumer software (not secure to anyone determined) and as far as the scope itself it I would imagine the antenna is unpowered when the broadcast feature is disabled even if only for power saving as a design concern and not security.

I was not planning to use the video record feature if I had to blast an intruder, nor stream it. I understood a part of the functionality is that you can stream to a phone/tablet and use the phone tablet to change the scope settings rather than have to should muh gun and look trough the scope. This would allow me to leave the scope plugged in (for long term power) while it sit comfy and work through all the menus to see/learn all of the options, where they are located, and turn them off and on, and make the zeroing adjustments at the range with phone/tablet. I was not interested in recording. The Stream app is available via google play, but it says I have to sign in to google play to download it. I have a spare phone with no cell chip that still works and does connect to the scope's wifi - and since the phone does cannot connect to the cellular services it cannot rat out my location. Since the scope knows when its on, transmitts to a cell phone, has an accelerometer and 2 wifi frequencies, I was concerned the datat transfer from the scope to muh phone would be something like (time scope on, duration, location, number of shots fired (from accelerometer, features used, settings, ho hey we "took" a few pics from what he is looking at and transmitting the data to NSA, or I mean our technical services department. Also, since its possible to simply mount the scope a tripod and connect a power supply an stream to tablet/phone, I could use it (since I already had it) to monitor the field/area for activity from my car, maybe house depending on range?). That said, not having a SIM installed, keeping wifi visually disabled until you want to connect the devices to each other and installing the app from either the apk or from a burner Google account is going to be about as "safe" as you can get. If your eyeballs still twitch after that, store the phone and scope in a faraday bag when not in use.

Temper your expectations on output or it's going to disappoint. For people saying "It's the same as a PEQ-15," no it's not. I can't quantify it 100%, but from using VCSEL and EEL units side by side, there's roughly a 1/3 to 1/4th apparent output drop going from EEL to VCSEL. It's the reason the M6TR's illuminator appears brighter than on the RAID and NGAL despite being 30mW compared to the 90mW or so for the other two.
