Aside from scythes, what are designed bad guy weapons?
>>
>>62874228
If you believe Turkish action soap operas and movies, the M16 is the go to weapon for terrorists and bad guys in general
>>
desert eagle, spas-12, and survival knives with too many serrations.
oh, and shitty string chainmail vests with a leather daddy look.

or oversized flails if its fantasy.
>>
>>62874228
Maces, because Sauron.
>>
>>62874228
Grim Reaper is as neutral as it gets.
AKs are designated bad guy weapons irl and fiction alike
>>
>>62874228
Depends on culture. I doubt scythe is villian-coded in Poland because of the peasant uprisings. Same with mace in most of eastern europe as it was a symbol of military authority.

Scythes are not designed to be bad guy weapons. They are for harvesting farmlands. It’s associated with death because the scythe can be a symbol of harvesting souls rather than wheat/grass.

That's definitely most of them. I'd add anything that's a bit 'exotic', like shuriken, balisongs, kerambits, etc. Also things associated with street gangs, hooligans, etc: Millwall brick, chains, tire iron, broken bottles, pool cue..
Also poison....

It's also just the stereotype big buff action hero gun. Pretty sure Dwayne Johnson had one in Doom too

It's always funny to see a Chinese crime drama with both good and bad guys with 1911s and HPs with the odd Tokarev in the final bad guy's hands.

I don't think I've ever seen a proper "bad guy" use a scythe in any form of media, but I can show you several scythe-weilding protagonists in my Japanese animes.
>>62874248
>desert eagle, spas-12, and survival knives with too many serrations.
That's basically every 80s action hero's loadout, though.

The real answers:
>classic wood furniture AK (terrorists)
>any bullpup rifle (evil futuristic dystopia military issue)
>any Soviet or Nazi pistol (spy)
>gatling gun (sprayed ineffectually at the hero from a helicopter until they are shot by a single pistol round)
That's all I got off the top of my head.

Traditional African swords are definitely "bad guy" coded everywhere outside of Africa. They're strongly associated with witch doctors, cannibals, pagan cults, head choppers and other spooky stuff in media. They also tend to have pretty alien looking designs which inspire fear even though they may or may not make the weapon more effective.

eh, not really. There's tons of guns the average Amerinormie doesn't recognize, but a lot of those would get cast as sci-fi guns or some other role long before they'd be seen as a bad guy gun.

>>62879216
Good call on that, pretty much anything that could be seen as "primitive" or "tribal" could work regardless of where it came from.

Something else I can't believe I forgot: repurposing tools as weapons. Nothing screams horror movie villain quite like a bloody saw, kitchen knife, shovel, etc.

Scythes are dogshit as weapons, only dorks that like the shittiest animes and never been in a fight think otherwise.
The scythe held by the Grim Reaper was supposed to simply be a symbol of harvest, as in he harvests souls.

Only if you use them as-is, modify the blade to be parallel with the shaft and you've got yourself a more than passable polearm.

Sycthes are used to harvest grain and feed people, they were also made into improvised weaponry by peasants against much more highly equipped armored knights on horseback.

Death is not a bad guy. Death is a fact of life and those with confidence in Heaven have no fear of death. Everyone will die, one way or another, you can't avoid this and some have made peace with this.

Death is a friend to some. Some are too familiar with death, the memories of these experiences stick in your mind. Some are to kill and be killed.
>>
>>62879981

Some are to kill.

Some are to be killed.

Some are to do both or neither.

Myself, I just wanted to raise cattle.

Happy cows in the clover up in the hills.

Never wanted to fight in a war or to a kill another man.

A peaceful life of hard work and prayer, farm like my cousins, grow old with grandkids.

But the zionist occupied government keeps bombing innocent Christian children in the Holy Land.
>>
>>62879907
>>never been in a fight think otherwise
Ever notice how the ones in fantasy art lever look like the real ones?
>>
This is a bad guy weapon called a Lockheed Martin F-35.

It is used by terrorists called zionists to bomb women and children in the Middle East.

In Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine. In Gaza, they bomb churches full of Christian civilians.

>more than passable
No, just barely passable.
Most scythes are very thin with an odd curve throughout. If you hit shit with them the blade will bend or tear easily. In fact a lot of them come with a thickened dull "stone point" because hitting a pebble can Shrek your blade.
>t. scythe user for small farm/orchard.
>>
>>62880048
Yeah, but the ones in the art are what we're talking about ITT. And those are shit weapons. Real war scythes have nothing to do with the conversation, and the fact that they could be used as effective weapons says nothing about the traditional style we're talking about here.
>>
>>62880082
Don't forget the shape of the typical scythe's handle (snath) would be incredibly awkward to use as a weapon. Fantasy artists keep drawing a straight pole because they're retards who don't understand how a scythe works.
>>
>>62880082
>Most scythes are very thin with an odd curve throughout
Anon, have you ever seen a battleaxe? The blades are thin -- much thinner than axes made for chopping wood.
A thin scythe would probably make a decent weapon for cleaving flesh.

Shit you're right. Regular bows can be either but crossbows are practically always wielded by villains. Maybe it's because they look more like guns so they visually represent ruthless modern warfare over heroic warfare.

Even stars die eventually.
>>
>>62881655
Neutron stars have no known expiration date.
White dwarfs can last a very, very, very long time -- like 10^15 years before they become black dwarfs, and then for another 10^500 years or even indefinitely. (Assuming no proton decay, which is a safe assumption.)
So there are a lot of stars that won't die. Just cool off and chill out forever.

That's just one of many different styles of scythe and not even the most popular one. It's like claiming there's no way people in XX century used pickups as weapon platforms because pic rel is what cars look like.

He lost all credibility when he claimed that every single artistic depiction of spear usage in all of history was actually incorrect. How so many HEMA fans think people stood there poking each other feebly is beyond me. Thegn Thrand is the best man on youtube for historical weapons.
