Is this the only autoloader that isn't retarded?
Bullpup tanks are bestest tanks.
>>62880066The german ones are also quite neat
This is the only right way to do it
Yes but it needs better thermal protection and some way to eject burning ammo.
Autoloaders take jobs from hardworking Americans and are therefore commie bullshit.
>>62880416It will be fixed by new tariffs
IDK, the Jap tanks' ROF is pretty impressive. Although realistically its main advantage is the ability to cross regional bridges without collapsing them lol.The thing also has a neat suspension if you're fighting on mountainous islands.
>>62880066Yes, let's store the ammo on the easier to hit turret. Genius.
>>62880573Nah the Type 90 autoloader goes a little beyond impressive when compared to the Leclerc. It makes the Leclerc look like there are toddlers operating the ramming system in comparison.
>>62880095Why the fuck would they do this rube golbergs machine instead of just a bustle autloader???
>>62880347Japanese military nomenclature is so weird. It's like reading chinese.
>>62881622>M1>M2>M4>M7
>>62881622And what's not written in Chinese is in English but katakana.
>>62882548>English but katakana. That's quite normal for text concerning modern technology. Kanji isn't exactly the most flexible writing method when it comes to new things. It's the kanji abominations like 自動装填装置制whatever that just come off as chinese. I can't even read or write it. You'd expect japan to have that kind of kanji for something historical but not modern military hardware.
>>62880066Crewless turret autoloaders are the future, if the crew compartment is separate and well protected you can toss a turret and drive away after.
>>62882986The future is crewless tanks
>>62883274Maybe one day but for now having the tip of the spear jammed would end any assault before it started and standard self driving AI is useless because while you don't want cars driving though fences and over trees you do want your tanks to do that.
>>62882860>You'd expect japan to have that kind of kanji for something historical but not modern military hardware. What if it isn't modern at all, but simply recovered lostech from the Korean-Finnish Hyperwar?
>>62880613Seems to work out for the M1 Abrams. Just add blow-out panels.
>>62880066is an autoloader even necessary? why isn't it better to have another crewman around to do shit?
>>62883913The newest autoloader is faster than a crewman.
>>62882860You don't need to reinvent the wheel, or another word for it. Tank wheels are still called so since you have the existing word, so are the turret and the gun. They did the same with their existing vocabulary, only taking English if they didn't have (gearbox, motor etc. as shown, even chinks didn't have it and they needed to invent their own word for it)
>>62882860My browser plugin reads that as 自動 (jidou - self-moving/automatic) 装填 (souten - loading) 装置 (souchi - equipment/device) 制 (sei - system). Jidousoutensouchisei. Auto-loading equipment system. In some fields, written Japanese is like 95% made of Chinese characters that they repurposed for their own language, often borrowing their approximate pronunciation (which got pretty mangled in the process, along with any more subtle meanings of the words). Their military might be one of the worst cases of this since writing as incomprehensibly as possible is part of their elite's traditions.I think many Chinese who can read the traditional forms of characters can often guess what they're saying, even if they use the characters a bit oddly in places.
>>62880066>1/3rd of the turret front isn't armored, just a hole straight to the crew compartmentWhole tank is retarded
>>62883913>>62883957The biggest pro is crewless turrets can be much smaller and lighter for the same level of protection because you don't need to armour a heap of space for people.
>>62880095>all this seperation>only for the ammo to still be stored literally right next to the crew???????????
>>62880066Pretty much yeah. South Korea carbon-copy-stole the design for a reason, they aren't dumb.
>>62880066The Japanese, Korean and Ukrainian autoloaders work the same too. The Abrams that was offered to Peru a few years ago was also fitted with a Meggitt bustle autoloader with 24+8 rounds. I'm interested in the modular turret that the Turks are installing on their M60s. It has a bustle autoloader that can carry between 16 to 32 rounds depending on loadout with a 105mm, 120mm or 125mm gun. It can be fitted on both western and soviet tanks and can be uparmored to offer protection benched against the newer versions of the Leopard 2. It'd be a cool way for armies to make all of their legacy tanks safer for crews.
>>62886620
>>62886658I'm a burger actually. I just like the M60. Pic rel with the Meggitt loader would be the best option but I don't GDLS offers it anymore.
