Coming soon, capable of aerospace flight.

Say something nice about it.

Are those super dooper hornets?
>>
Surely this will be a unique design and not a horrific mesh of the F-35 and F-22 again. Clueless
>>
>>62886459
I've been saying for a while that 6th gen fighters should have suborbital capabilities and energy weapons as defining features. Nice to see the idea catching on.

Any word on the specs? Looks like its made to travel a good distance
>>
>>62886459
God I hope GCAP turns out well.
>>
>>62886459
I thought they ditched this wing layout in favor of a hexagon wing like yf23?
>>
>>62886459
It looks kinda neat. Needs moar triangles though.

Is this carrier capable?

wow planes that fly

>No horizontal tail
>Still has vertical tail
lmao
>>
>>62891131
idgi

look at all those trailing edge flaps, arent those like a tail?
>>
>>62886459
lmfao, the f35 must be a fucking debacle for all these idiotic indigenous '6th gen' fighter jets to all crop up at once,
>>
>>62891193
You're missing the point, a vertical tail contributes much more to radar cross section than a horizontal tail, if you're going to get rid of one, it should be the vertical. As it is, they're giving up maneuverability and take of distance and not gaining much stealth benefit.
>>
>>62891827
Nah helmettard, this is just nature healing and it being more economical to just buy into f35 for a 5th gen while building a 6th gen. Its also an international effort, which will probably be fine since the french arent involved.

It will bring great glory to the British Caliphate
>>
>>62891855
>our inigenous 6th gen, that is literally just an f35 but with more gas, and a bigger weapons bay (something it absolutely should have had anyway)
>>
>>62891851
I’m sure the small children who designed the jet didn’t think of that, genius anon. Some esoteric knowledge like radar cross section probably didn’t occur to them
>>
>>62892009
If anything, an acknowledgment that the f35 was good but ok
>>
>>62886459
There's a very real chance that it might almost enter production before the MOD cancels the funding this time (it has to happen eventually, r...right?).
>>
>>62892027
Yes, it's pretty well known, which tells you that the bongs didn't have good enough flight controls to get away with deleting the vertical tail.
>>
>>62886459
Ignore the naysayers.
They look good.
Pls don't station them in the Falklands, your Typhoons already mog everything in the continent and it makes people antsy.

Italian news outlets wrote last week that the agreed workshare is now 33% UK - 33% Japan - 33% Italy.
I previously thought it was 40-40-20.
>>
>>62892338
it wont matter because there is a 0% chance even a single airframe is produced in anything other than .jpg format

> Prime Minister Meloni held a meeting on Tuesday with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Rio de Janeiro where the three leaders discussed various aspects of the project, including bringing in new members on board for the project.
Italy seems to be wanting to involve at least 1 more country.
>>
>>62892548
>first prototype already being built
>more countries being involved
>b-b-but iit won't fly!, why?, b-because i said so!
Take your meds you retard
>>
>>62892338
Italian news outlets have been writing about equal share for 2 or 3 years and it never happened. I'll believe it when all 3 countries actually confirm it.
>>
>>62893409
I could see another country joining as an observer or as a junior partner with severely limited involvement, but Japan has made it pretty clear they do not want to shake things up too drastically at this point. The UK and Italy can afford to drag their feet but Japan has China on their doorstep and as far as they're concerned, they need GCAP ASAP.
>>
>>62895176
>they need GCAP ASAP.
what will the GCAP do the F35 isnt?
the f35 should have served every role the GCAP is being designed for
>>
>>62895513
>f35 does thing
>gcap improves on thing
>want gcap in the future
You got stagnant retard brain
>>
>>62895527
>gcap improves on thing
specifically how, and in what way
f35 was a $trillion dollar multi-decade project
how will the the GCAP avoid this?
>>
By the time it's done (2050) piloted aircraft will be hilariously obsolete.
>>
>>62895547
>trillion$ cope
Probably improved senor suites, avionics, indigenous production lines, larger weapons bay, improved stealth, ewar suites, that sort of thing. New fighters used to get pumped out every 5 years, now its more like every 20. I dont see why youre seething so bad about it or why you dont get that in western nations technology continues improving.
>>
>>62893045
That's jammer.
>>
>>62895513
It has two engines so it has longer range and can carry more shit. it's locally built so they don't have to rely on whatever schizo gen alpha puts into the american presidency
>>62895547
Thats the total program cost and the F-35 program is only going to have passed a trillion when it's successor is already in the works, it hasn't passed that yet
>>
>>62895547
F-35 is three disparate planes under one monolithic budget.
>>
>>62895592
>the euro-GCAP is fundamentally the stupidest MIC project currently publicly talked about

You're French... Right? That's the only reason you could think FCAS has more legs than GCAP.

>every new games console just like a slightly different version of the last one!
it's a fighter, the f35 is the best one, obviously everything looks vague like one if having being single engine and having any wing config is too similar for you, we don't even have any specs
>>
>>62896272
>>62898242
also there are actual f35 ripoffs like the j35, GCAP and FCAS will just be similar

Speagle!
>>
>>62896272
They already confirmed it'll be twin engined.

Japan and the UK want something with pretty decently longer range and higher payload than the F-35.
>>
But seriously, it kinda makes sense for them to start working on 6th gen jet now rather than 5th gen which would at best be ready when F-35 is already well aged up, right?
>>
>>62898584
Yes, this isn't slated to enter service until the mid 2030s, and wont be fully in active service until the late 2030s or early 2040s.
We're literally 15+ years from GCAP being a major factor.
