Interesting kontakt usage
xoxols cant afford era))))
Getting your face melted off by ERA backblast is one way to die I guess....

>>62889408None on the cargo bed tarp, lame.
>>62889408I always wonder; are these actually hooked up to any sensors? I feel like most of the time they just slap era on shit and call it a day, and thats why they seem to fail every time.
>>62889408Is this done ironically or are they really this pants shittingly retarded?
>DNR postal service!>ALALALALA
>>62889848>sensorsERA isn't actively reactive. It being hit by a plasmastream of copper is what detonates the explosive to deform the stream, lessening the penetrative effect.
>>62889848They're blind explosives basically. What sensors? The 1970s prox sensor? It's built into each, or should have been, if it wasn't sold I guess.
>>62889918The back steel plate in the ERA block can defeat small arms fire at least up to 9mm. If they've welded another steel backing plate to the door as well it might provide enough protection from an FPV attack if the explosive is particularly weak on the drone I guess. If you've got blocks laying around and value your life slightly more than the average drunk mobik I don't see why not throw a few blocks on your Ural's cab isn't the worst idea. More brilliant ideas from the world's second most powerful military!
>>62889408looks like a very elaborate way of committing suicide
All these silly extra-explosive vehicles I keep seeing makes me wonder if you could make a reactive armor that could actually be mounted to literally anything you wanted to, as in, the brick itself has enough armor built into the back side of it to fully resist the brick itself detonating regardless of what it's mounted to.I assume they'd be significantly heavier than normal ones, but maybe it'd be a worthwhile tradeoff if it means you can just slap them wherever you want.
>Another key point to note about ERA is how the blast from the ERA explosion can potentially injure the vehicle’s occupants. Therefore, ERA cannot be mounted on vehicles whose hulls are made of softer materials such as aluminum, which cannot withstand the impact of a blast. A way to get around such a problem would be to mount an additional layer of steel over the aluminum hull prior to mounting the ERA. The Bradley IFV is an example of a vehicle that employs such a technique, with about an inch of steel between the ERA and hull.
What I don't understand about this is fact that they have fucking T-62 and T-55 riding around without ERA BECAUSE THEY HAVE DHORTAGES OF IT. And then you have dubasses who waste it like this
>>62890040You'd probably be better off building an addon armor package designed to accommodate ERA blocks.
>>62890061There is a possibility that these are blocks without explosive filler. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen it.
>>62890061Just everyday Russian things.Utter misery is already here. It's just not very evenly distributed.
>>62889960No it's actively worse than doing nothing, Kontakt-1 is known for going off when particularly energetic fragments impact the tiles much less actual explosives. FPV drones use shaped charges which means the ERA isn't going to stop shit. This of course also ignores the fact that even if you mounted 20mm of steel behind the ERA on the door the explosive mass would still fracture the plate and fire a shotgun of metal fragments into the cabin. This is the equivalent to strapping an impact fuze hand grenade to your chest to stop yourself from getting hurt when hit by a car
>>62889408and then people are surprised that everything Russian explodes in giant fireball when there is any high energy contact made.... i would not be surprised if they put it on autoloader inside their tanks to protect ammo carousel...
>>62889918I was going to say it's a joke but then it looks like they have left viewports so I think it's serious.
>>62889434>>62889848The explosives have been removed and rigged to drones. The boxes are full of rubber wood or sand.
>>62890137Shaped charges are literally what ERA is meant to protect against.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_armour#Explosive_reactive_armour
>>62889408Not even APS are mounted on light vehicles...
>>62890748I understand that, but you still need armor underneath ERA to stop shaped charges. There is still residual penetration once ERA activates, it doesn't make the shaped charge just disappear. Even best case scenario (a highly angled impact with a relatively weak charge) an ERA block is only going to cut off about 90-95% of the penetration of the projectile. If you assume the FPVs are largely using PG-7VL warheads, which generally seems to be the case, then you are still looking at 30mm+ of steel penetration left. This is why most ERA mounted on the sides of armored vehicles only adds protection against 1970s and later RPG warhead hits in a frontal angled aspect and not side on.
>>62889408oh my God they are fucking retarded
>>62890748>be retard>someone engages you thinking you have a basic idea of what you're talking about>confirm you're a fucking retard insteadERA protects against HEAT when it's put on top of thick steel armor, retard. it still explodes and obliterates its own backplate.
This thread proves how fucking retarded nu/k/ is.
>>62892240He's right>>62890137This faggot is half right. You are all dumbass faggots who cannot realize this is ghetto NERA
