News of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which is close to completing its training in France. The French minister of the Armies and minister of Foreign Affairs visited the soldiers of the Brigade and their French trainers. A bunch of new pics got out for the occasion
The 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade is a new Ukrainian brigade, created in 2024 and made up of conscripts and volunteers. It is largely trained and equipped by France, who trained 2300 of its 4500 soldiers on its territoryThe brigade will go back to Ukraine in December with the equipment it trained on: VABs, AMX-10RCs, MISTRAL launchers and missiles, CAESARs, among other things
"Anne of Kyiv", the nickname of the Brigade, comes from a princess of Kyiv who married a French King in the Middle Ages. The unit chose the motto "On ne passe pas" ("They shall not pass"), a famous motto of the French Army during WW1, used at Verdun during the German offensive there
>>62891905Okay, but why isnt France giving Ukraine any long range missiles?
>>62891990>whataboutClockwork
>>62891912>mixed conscripts and volunteersSo are they taking the approach of putting conscripts in logistics roles and volunteers in combat arms, but organized at the battalion level or lower? Or are there conscripted men in combat roles in this brigade?
>>62891990We did
>>62891912>a battalion-size UAV unitnice
>>62892050No idea. The reports I read didn't go into such details
wait, three-axle CAESARs? Aren't those the Danish spec?
>>62891925kino
Nice
>>62891912Intardesting. Thanks OP.
>>62891912>Leopard 2A4Where the fuck are the Leclercs?
>>62891905Someone willing to explain to a neverserved how valuable 4500 mechanized (especially this particular 155th Mech) are to the current frontlines? I'm not stupid, just never served. Could this hold Kursk? Take something that size or five times that size? Etc. Don't need deep details, but an overview for an anon who's followed the war almost daily since day one.tl;dr - I'm looking for a ray of sunshine here. Am I seeing it?
>>62892328No, the 6x6 are the old/common french ones. 8x8 would be NG/Danish version
>>62894313Western trained mech brigades are a mobile reserve, not meant to dig in and hold a line against meatwaves.
>>62892050Conscripts with foreign training are way more useful than you'd might think, not only in terms of skills, but in terms of motivation. Local training often sucks donkey dick for a whole multitude of reasons, having old soviet farts there being a big factor. A regular conscripted Taras is a lot less demoralized and demotivated after getting sent and trained abroad. Know of a few guys like that personally, who got sent to train in UK.
>>62892347>>62892387>>62892667You're welcome anons
>>62892755We sadly don't have enough of them to give to the Ukrainiansor to anyone really
>>62892755Finally contending for race wins
>>62894378That's a good reason to order 500 more of them
>>62894382No, that's what the AMX-10s are for.
I wonder if these guys will be trained on how to fire in battery? Will there be a big culture shock when they return to Ukraine and have to plug into the UA command structure, ie, will they be used to officers being professional and in control of everything?
>>62894325Thanks. I knew the Danish version had one more axle, but was wrong on the OG ones.
>>62894389Our defense budget did go up, but the money is mainly for modernization, AI, drones and new boats and planesOur government considers it is the job of Poland and Germany to stop russia on land if shit really hits the fan. In their eyes, it'll be more useful for France and its allies if we focus on expeditionary capabilities, air dominance and cyberwarfare. Bigger numbers isn't the priority
>>62894347Yeah. Obviously there are many stories of guys who get drafted then wind up liking it and turning into career soldiers. But you still want your combat arms to be all-volunteer if possible.
