When I worked a machine shop I used to beg my boss to let us program and setup idle mills for 80% lowers to sell

Boss said no, “what if we get a client that has a rush job walking through that door?”

So we had empty cam seats, 3 idle mills, all equipped with a 4th axis capable of tombstones being equipped

Doing nothing, we would warm up the machines, home them then shut them off and coat the tables in way oil to prevent rust every morning and go do shit like inventory cutting tools or mopping

Did this for 9 months before I got another job… we could have just pumped 8 months of 80% lowers and just elected not to…
