My grandfather worked on the XB-70's wing hydraulics. He tells this story pretty often.

He cut his teeth working for Curtiss on the P-40, worked on the XB-70, and ended his aerospace career working on the F-111 before moving on to explosive welding inside of nuclear reactors. As an engineer myself it's a little depressing knowing I will never do as much cool shit as he did.
