that is all
>>62915960That's why I use iron sights.

>>62915983>Isn't it a non factor with one eye closed? No
>>62915960get a 1x prism?
>>62915960why do you care if the dot is a lil fuzzy? I see dots like that do not care and I still hit targets with ease.
>>62915993i wont get killed in close quarters combat if i use a microprism instead of a comp m5s?
>>62915960Prisms are better anyway
>>62915997not OP but I have astigmatism too and its extremely distracting. The fuzzy light tendrils constantly change shape and orientation as I move.
>>62916019no?if you're going for style, get a Trijicon TA44
>>62915966Or you know you could wear glasses because you clearly have a vision problem and don't see 20/20 out of your dominant eye.
>>62915960Custom PRK may help.
>>62915993No such thing for a handgun (as seen in OP).>>62915997You clearly don't have much of an astigmatism and this thread isn't for you. Can you comprehend that other people don't see dots the same as you do?
>>62916072Alright see you criticize him for this yet you are well aware you have a vision issue that needs correction. If you have enough astigmatism for a red dot light to bother you it most definitely bothers you when it comes to seeing other things. Get some fucking glasses.
>>62916072ah, didn't even realize it was a handgunthe DeltaPoint Micro is apparently good with astigmatisms if that doesn't work, the Mepro FT BULLSEYE Rear Sight might be a better choice then
>>62916090Glasses help with the worst problems about astigmatism like traffic lights or car high beams. For most people they don't help much with red dots. My perscription is current and they've always looked like indistinct blobs to me.
>>62916115What's your cylindrical power.
>>62916115Have you tried lowering the brightness?
>>62916090You can't correct moderate to bad bad astigmatism with glasses dumbfuck, only light astigmatism. Glasses are just smooth aspherical lenses, they can't perfectly match the wavy curve of your fucked up eyes. You think people don't know about fucking glasses? You in addition to him clearly don't understand, so why are you here?
>>62915966This is the truth. Handgun red dot sights are pure meme material for the average Joe and nobody on this board can link a video of anyone performing a simple drill like a Bill Drill or double Mozambique significantly faster/more accurately with a red dot than with iron sights. I don't care about USPSA match scores or the Sage Dynamics meme paper when I've never seen someone visually demonstrate how handgun optics are measurably better in the context of a self defense shooting. That is, under 10 rounds fired and possibly one target transition. And (you), yes (you), I dare you to cry about the language of "the context of a self defense shooting". And then you're going to fall back to calling me poor because that's the standard robotic response to any criticism of handgun red dot sights.
>>62916090Retard
>>62916117I'd say it's more coarse than fine
>>62915983No, each eye can have its own level of astigmatism. Not OP but the round full moon looks like an elbow macaroni to me.I used to have to use a retina scanner in the military and they told me to line it up so it looked like a bullseye. I drew them a picture of what it looked like and 2 out of 3 trips through I had to wait in line to bypass the fucking scanner.
>>62915960Correlated with autism
>>62916186Good.
>>62916138Asking this question again, maybe y'all didn't see it . . . Does the intensity of a light source effect your astigmatism? Does a lower intensity dot produce less distortions?I am 30% deaf in one ear, not a huge deal but I did a hearing test one time and passed with flying colors; I couldn't hear the tone but I could feel my muscles tensing. I'm wondering if you could lower the brightness of the dot enough to "feel" the dot instead of "see" it. Like your eye knows where the dot is, and you see your target, but you're not fishing for either.
>>62916245It doesn't work like that, but lowering the brightness lowers the contrast. Contrast is what causes the blowout, which is why we see it on traffic lights and shit.So yes, but the consequence is you can't have the dot at the brightness you would prefer or which is required by the environment.
>>62915960Aren't there contact lenses that can correct the eye shape to correct astigmatism?
>>62915960Honeslty, I'm fine with banning guns to everyone except those with perfect vision
>>62916092I couldn't get the meprolight straight no matter how many times I adjusted it.
>>62915960black eye floaters are worse
>>62916384Why
>>62916349No.
>>62916461There aren't, but there could be.
>>62916473There could be prismatic optics for pistols too, but there aren't.
>>62916477yes
>>62916349Yes.There are limitations. A lens can be cut to your needed MRx withen ANSI standards. Contact lens are limited on determining the correct degrees that can accurately correct for. The cylindrical power needed to correct astigmatism is on an axis of 180 degrees the closer the better. Contact lens that do this can have fitting issues as it is essentially weighted so it rotates to the correct position when put into your eye. If the power is to low doctors are going to ignore it most of the time and just give you a straight sphere power as the comfort is just better vs the better vision. Now if this is the case go with it as I often see contact lens morph the shape of the cornea making it more spherical. Patients who wear contact lens and want to do some sort of laser surgery are often times told not to wear the contacts for a week or two so their cornea can return to its natural shape for best measurements before surgery. This is just correcting the most common of problems with astigmatism. I know people are pointing at that in this thread but their are visual problems that might cause that issue. Especially if you are a fatass diabetic American which I know some of you are. Like if you were diagnosed with strabismus as a child. Most people are self aware of issues like this though.
>>62916499While yes, there are contact lenses for astigmatism, Anon wanted to know if there were any that corrected the shape of the eye which is a very different thing.
>>62916526.... Just stay in your lane. I don't where you are going with this but its retarded and yes contact lens DO change the shape of your cornea especially the rigid gas perm lens which patients with keratoconus do use.
>>62916536well you should keratocodeeznutzlmao nah, I ain't that anon, dat nigga gay
>>62916549Ok but I am clearly the subject matter master on this thread so all these little niglets need to fuck off and learn how to read a Snellen chart so they can get a proper refraction instead of stomping their feet about red dots are crap.
>>62916437More guns for me
>>62916432How do you get them? I mean I know all people have them occasionally but still
>>62916536Glasses cant phsycially change the shape of your cornea or eyeball
>>62915960That's why prisms are superior. And they have an etched reticle in case your battery or electronics die.
>>62916090Glasses don't fix astigmatism. That's bullshit to sell you the "enhanced" lenses that don't do shit. I have tried those several times. Once they made the star pattern around bright lights worse.
>>62916615Floaters are dead layers of skin from the retina walls. They often stay for years. Most people get them. If you see a lot or flashes of light that means there is a tear or a hole and you should see an eye doctor immediately. Your brain learns to ignore them and hopefully they break down and get recycled out with the jelly overtime. For most they just settle at the bottom and people only really notice them unless they are staring up in the ceiling in bed. If you are young don't worry about it.
>>62916619Well you need some glasses nigger because you can't read. Where does it say glasses there?
>>62916628That's because the refraction is essentially done by you and you and when you said yes to seeing something on the chart when it clearly it wasn't. The sole purpose of the cylindrical power is to correct nothing but the astigmatism.Post your glasses prescription.
>>62916636Does Ocular hypertension (high eye pressure) play a role into this?
>>62915960Get corrective lenses.
>>6291609068W here. Drink plenty of water, change your socks, and take some Ibuprofen.
>>62916653Only if you go years without treating it. If its a chronic problem it means you have glaucoma. The jelly in your eye is to hard and is not recycling and it pushes against the walls and the nerve head in particular and creates painless tunnel vision over time. It eats its way from outward to in. 90% of the time it only requires taking an eye drop before bed (latanoprost) is a common one.Short answer, No as long as you don't ignore it.
>>62916652Again, no glasses are going to fix astigmatism, period.
>>62916673Uh huh. Still waiting for your glasses prescription. I could probably give you some advice on whats wrong but go ahead throw your red dot in the trash. Oh by the way you can also throw your scopes in the trash because if you believe that then the diopter adjustment on a scope wouldn't work at all.
>>62916657Moron.
>>62916652>>62916678This guy thinks optical errors only occur in two tidily definable axis LOL
>>62916499Thanks anon for replying in detail
>>62915960Wear glasses
>>62916165I am significantly more accurate at 35yd+ with a dot than I am with irons. A fiber optic front and blacked out serrated rear comes close. That's the only use case for me. Taking precise shots at range. I have a dot on my carry p365xl because why not but in reality I'd be fine with irons. Knowing I can take a precise shot at range is comforting though. They also look cool.
