Is there anything like that? I imagine something with fitting holster, red dot with protruding button that slides out when the weapon is removed from the holster and activates the laser. This could be advantage to having to turn it on manually under stress when you draw.
>>62917160a magnetic switch would be your best bet, idk if something like that exists
Most Holosuns and Sigs have a "shake awake" feature, is that what you have in mind?
>>62917160They're either always on or have a shake awake. They take very little battery to run but yes when you actually need it most that battery will be dead without warning. Don't depend on stupid gimmicks.
>>62917160I prefer to opt in. Opt out option gives me heebies.
>>62917160similar to what >>62917166 said, holosuns also have a "solar mode"they'll be powered by just the light alone, i think they also might go powered when they lack enough light to stay on tooother than that, just get a red dot that has a high battery life, holosuns basically never go out as long as you let them recharge, and sights like the trijicon rcr have a battery life of 5 years straight on low
>>62917166>>62917169>>62917176Interesting. I wonder if there are any laser pointers that have that, they have a higher power consumption.
>>62917256you're not going to find a laser thats automatic, they're all on a switch, but many switches are able to be put directly on the grip, essentially making them "automatic"
>>62917272yeah I know but it's fugly
>>62917160You could find one with usbc charging port and modify it to turn on when the cable is disconnected. Then plug in one of the magnetic charger adapters with small powerbank inside holster. It would disconnected itself when you draw and reconnect automatically after holstering. A lot of wireless headphones and Xiaomi fitness bands use that system.
>>62917166My brother has an sig that has shake awake. There have been too many times where it hasn’t turned on that I would not trust my life to it.
Keep it on, but have a NOT gate connected to a MOSFET that blocks the ON signal. Connect the NOT gate to a hall effect sensor and add a magnet to your holster.>muh too hardLearn to engineer and build your own shit, we're in the age of cheap electronics and 3D printers. If you can't think of solutions to your issues, design them, and build them, you're a fucking retard.
>>62917160I've always thought one with a folding window that springs open and turns on when you draw from a holster would be cool. It'd probably be a nightmare for holding zero though.
>>62917166How do those things not turn on just by getting bumped from your gait as you walk? Seems like that would jostle them enough to always trigger that shake awake feature. Same idea with their rifle versions on rifles that rife around in patrol cars or just general truck guns.
>>62919426>how does my phone know which way is up???
>>62919343Conceptually interesting, but you're right probably a technical nightmare. Maybe something like that magpul folding gun concept where the itself never folds would work.
>>62919438You will reveal all of your secrets wizard to me in due time. The secret to the art of spellborn testicular torsion will be mine.
>>62917160yes, there's motion activation. It's 100% pointless because it creates an additional source of failures, while not doing anything useful.Just get a properly made red dot that can last multiple years on, there are plenty available. Problem solved.
>>62919426They do. Any movement causes them to turn on.It's not problem since they last for multiple years constant on anyway.
>>62919426Yeah I've wondered about that too. Shake awake makes sense to me on a rifle that sits still in a rack or whatever until you pick it up but it's hard to see how it'd work on a carry gun, and any attempt to make it "ignore" the movement it'd get in a holster (angle-sensing for example, so it wouldn't turn on while pointed straight down) seems failure-prone.
>>62919489They don't. They work exactly the same as on a rifle. Which means if you're walking around, it's going to be on the whole time.
