How's the leather on these hanwag Alaska? They've been sitting in a cardboard box for 8 months in a non humid environment. In the past i used to clean the mud off of them and then apply nikwax leather treatment, the one with the sponge applicator. It's kinda dry so im going to use hanwag leather wax on it
Crye JPC 2.0 or Army MSV?
>>64126069If you run in your crye and get sweat in it, you have to get rid of it.
>>64126112Nigger i know sweat won't kill it but I go running in it 3 days a week every week so I want to know if doing so for months on end will ruin it, not running once, especially cause I won't be able to rinse in water and have it dry etc etc every time it'll just dry sweaty and that's it

Will a carinthia MIG be comparable to a marshmallow jacket or is it lighter
>>64126444That helmet looks...Pretty solid...
>>64126487Combine 5.1lb steel IIIA+ face mask with Level III Jinwudun helmet to become headman. Headbutt your enemies. Super solid.
>>64125552Where do you get those cases and adapters to attach your phone to your pc?
>>64126444> https://armoredoptics.com/products/maxilla-maxillofacial-protection> Threat Level - IIIA, 9mm, 45 ACP, .44 Mag, .22, .380, .38, 10mm, and 12 gauge.Weren't people saying .223? I think they mean .22lr!
>>64126562> https://juggernautcase.com/products/armor.mount-plate-carrier-pals/molle-phone-.html
>>64126536>Headbutt your enemies
>>64126572No, it's advertised in a video to stop unspecified .223 at an unspecified velocity. Very scientific. It's steel, so M193 at most regular velocities will be right out. It might be able to swing M855 given that green tip is traditionally a poor performer against steel.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bM_HaIxtsQ
>>64126601Subsonics until proven otherwise. It's not officially rated for anything that IIIA soft armor can't handle, lmao
I kinda miss bedpisser in a sort of “where’s my entertainment for tonight” kind of way.Anyway, Posting current gear.Need it or sneed it?
>>64126614Honestly M855 out of a 10.3" would likely lose. It's a five pound steel face mask. The only argument that can be made for it, practically, is that it handles threats with significantly less BFD than other face masks, while also allowing you to use NV unlike transparent ballistic visors. The $150 chinamasks (pic rel) are backface deformation city and 12 gauge slugs will result in significant BABT. The ballistic visors have quality of life issues and preclude use of NV.
>>64126572>Threat Level - IIIASo literally this is the same amount of protection? Or that is at least proven
>>64126758Keep in mind face armor is rated under NIJ 0108.01, not the body armor 0101.06 or helmet 0106.01. This is a standard that is easier than 0101.06, has no CPL, and has not been updated since 1985.Basically yeah, you're right. The only advantage of a steel mask is reduced BFD.
I motion we just tape a Hesco T212 to the face and wear it like a massive chin guard. It's cheaper, lighter, and stops much tougher threats than this $700 face mask.
>>64126695I like how it directs all the fragments and redirects right into your neck and upper chest at an angle your body armor won't stop. Good stuff anon.
>>64126816Really wakes you up early in the morning
>>64126816Yeah these aren't well thought-out. Across the board. The chinamask in >>64126695 is aramid and based off a 1980s Safariland design. The steel Tardigrade mask is unacceptably heavy. The other aramid masks buckle like crazy. The Ronin costs as much as a set of Hesco 4800s with sides.Mandibles are the way if visors are out.
how. the. fuck. do you larp with a rifle with a two point sling while also wearing a plate carrier? Anytime I leave my gun slung and let go of it, within 5 footsteps it's either spun itself somehow or got really caught or snagged on my already minimal plate carrier, or god forbid I spin the rifle to sit across my rear plate bag. I have to keep a hand on my gun at all times so I might as well not even use a sling
>>64126695I'm now happy I spent the money I was considering on an impulse buy of one of these dumb masks on a .45acp conversion kit for an 1893 Turk Mauser instead
>>641270061. Deal with it2. Find a sling catcher thingy. or use 2 strong magnets
>>64127027The $150 chinamasks handle basic 9mm / .45 ACP decently but anything more potent gets comical. The shots do get stopped, even from a .460S&W, but the mask literally turns inside out. A 12 gauge slug would likely produce similar results.
>>64127006The sling keeps the rifle on you, its not a holster. If you need to be mobile you need to handle your gun.
>>64127006try walking through a swamp with tag alders when hunting, you just can't keep your gun slung you gotta one hand it or keep the sling loose and hop from clump of brush over barely frozen ice. There's no good way to do it>>64127097I think I've got strong bones but I'm not going to trust the Chinese
>>64127116What you mean you don't trust $150 Aholetech? You ahole! I take my Milidick and shove it up ur jinwudun you linry arsehore.
>>64127125heh
>>64127134You listen here! I go buy $23.00 Level IV prates from Linry corporation and resell them as multi-hit Level IV certified by NIJ lab to raw enforcement standards for $150 a piece. You not know! Dumb american! Fuk u!
>>64127143if the Chinese spent as much time trying to innovate and be honest instead of cheat, steal, lie, and worship money they'd be a third world country, if they forgot about organ harvesting and communism maybe a second world country. but that's enough /POL/ on /k/ todayit's far too easy to dunk on CHYNA
>>64127167But in all seriousness, that's how the "white label" plate scheme works. You buy bottom barrel plates from Linry or Aholdtech in large enough quantities to get best prices, then have them assembled with your label on the cover, then market them as super multi-hit Level IV or whatever - taking advantage of the cheapo ceramic tile array's good multi hit capabilities while ignoring the huge-ass cheat ring on the edges. Then use fruity language like "tested to NIJ standards by a certified laboratory" or "certified to pass NIJ requirements by X" so you're implying NIJ compliance with the general uninformed public but aren't making a false statement of material fact.In the event your shit doesn't work, you close shop immediately or threaten whoever exposed you with legal action, then pretend nothing happens and/or restart under a new name. The vast majority of body armor is never shot, and the only way to know if it really works is to shoot it, that's why this is such a sketchy industry.
>>64127184yep textbook china behavior, I will never buy armor produced by an offshore company not in the us or produced in a western company using non western labor.
>>64127200>armor produced by an offshore company not in the usDefine "produced", because the NIJ defines that as just location of final assembly. Little known fact. Most of the consumer armor companies get their ceramic strike faces from the same source. Hesco for instance imports many of their Alumina ceramic strike faces from Bitossi, which is Italian. So does Highcom, LTC, and as of 3/4/25, RMA for a "CORBIT 997" monolithic strike face. This is 99.7% pure Aluminum Oxide, which is significantly higher grade than the 1155 / 1165. Pretty sure that's for the XRT that launched around 5/25.In other words, most of the "American"entry-level LE/civ-focused plates are half-Italian. Bitossi does Alumina and sintered SiC. Anything else can be from other suppliers. >When you'a suspend'a four o' mah plates you should'a ask a me for the 4520 special meatball.
Anon!(You) have been tasked with outfitting a ragtag group of 8-12 useless fucks with basic minimal rifleman kit. What gear do you give them? Budget matters because you have to provide up to 12 of the things.
>>64127273Dusting off anon's ole' chadbloc for this one.
I was binge watching some Roki Vulovic music videos and saw thisWhere can I get/who makes a vest like in picrel?
>>64127285This is hilarious and greatFor grab-n-go chest rigs I'm thinking>FLC, because it's $30 and fuck you>6x USGI double mag pouches, $3 each = $18>2x USGI canteen pouches, $10 each = $20>USGI canteen and cup, $16>Cheap radio>6 AR mags, or bring your own>Pre-packed IFAK, could run $100 but your life is worth it (and you don't actually prep your IFAK, you do whatever your medic tells you to do)
>>64127335It's an older infographic but aged fairly well. FLC is good, ditto for pouches, canteen, and cup. For the radio I'd volunteer the UV-5RM Plus with the super-jumbo 6800mAh USB-C battery. Easier to charge using cords people already have for their phones, still super cheap, and robust enough to get basic comms work done.AR mags just get pmags and leave it at that. 6-8 although cases can be made for lower and higher. The Rescue Essentials pre-packed IFAKs will do fine.Depending on AO I'd maybe look into doing a quick run at a used tools sale to get cheap and reasonably sized pry bars, boltcutters, wirecutters, etc for everybody so they can negotiate fences and doors. With thermals, surveillance, and drones more prolific than ever you don't want to be outside too long.
>>64127285>those ammo prices$100 for 500 rounds of 5.56? Damn bro, how old is that pic???
>>64127335I think you could do a lot better than a prepackaged IFAK for $100, but LARPers won't like it cause it doesn't look cool and doesn't come in cool NAR packaging. >1x AliExpress ACE wrap $5>1x PerSys T3 Israeli $10 (comes with 4ft of gauze inside it)>2x H&H compressed gauze $8 >gloves, 2 pairs $1.40>Rhino Rescue shears (same exact thing as NAR shears, tested both side to side for my department) $5>roll of duct tape (roll it yourself on a piece of drinking straw)..idk, $1 maybe?>2x SOF-T $68>emergency blanket, $3I think this beats the fuck out of a SIRK or FTK that would run you $100-130.
>>64128132>1x AliExpress ACE wrap $5By this I mean pic related. Unironically the best bandage on the market.
>>64128132>1x PerSys T3 Israeli $10 (comes with 4ft of gauze inside it)4 yards of gauze*
>>64128132Good list.>>64128162Elite chinamaxxer>>64128040Early 2020 I think? I'm debating updating it to make it more timely.1. PASGT is overly heavy, BFD is sketchy, and the original OG helmet is frag rated and not... actually IIIA. NIJ 0106.01 hasn't been updated since 1981 and does not even have a IIIA. Technically all "IIIA" helmets are whatever the manufacturer says helmet IIIA is. You can't even certify a helmet anyway. PASGT was developed in 1977. I say replace with a BA3A or ACH.2. The 5ive star vest is now $80. I don't know if we wanna drop to Yakeda.3. Those LAPG plates are cheat ringed and could be replaced by the full coverage model, but that's a thick 1.5" plate.4. UV-5R by UV-9R maybe?Leave the guns / ammo as-is but update prices.
>>641271672nd world does not refer to a state between 1st and 3rd. 2nd world specifically refers to Soviet satellite states, like Kazhakstan and whatnot.
>>64128132first aid anon, what's your take on the rhino rescue TQs?
>>64126444
>>64129486They're CE certified now so many EMS departments in the EU are using them. I tested them before and they work as intended, but my place of work went with the SAM XT instead so I haven't really looked at them again. The only reports of failures I've seen are anecdotal shit from Ukraine (which I'm 90% sure are made up by domestic TQ producers like SICH and Dnipro or because Russians also use Rhino Rescue). I don't like the metal windlass ones, it seems to bend a bit too easy. The plastic CAT clones seemed fine and I'd have no issues carrying them. You should buy a couple and test them out yourself, though.
>>64129667This thread is the most traction the TARDIGRADE MAXILLA will probably ever get.
>>64129684And the other rhino rescue stuff, I saw their IFAK refill for 35eurobucks
>>64129700We're probably the only people who have ever heard of it. At more than 5 pounds, we're the only people who ever will.
>>64129731I'd say their regular gauze is great (all cotton gauze is made in China anyway and their packaging is neat), their emergency bandage is fine (the new ones are a NAR ETD copy), their mini compression bandage is very nice and I started using them instead of the H&H Mini which became impossible to obtain recently. I like their gloves a lot (the individually packaged ones) and their shears are good to go (same quality as NAR shears for half the price). I regularly use their BOA IV band. I have just ordered a couple of their litters, will see how those are.I would avoid their >chest sealsNot nearly sticky enough>Combat tapeIt's TOO sticky, makes it impossible to use >hemostatic gauzeIt's probably fine cause fucking up kaolin is hard but putting Chinese chemicals inside of you might be a bad idea>decompression needles obvious reasons but also they're the same price as Russell or NAR branded ones>cric kits lol, and yes they do sell them.Tourniquets are up to you, test them first then decide for yourself.I'd say a good rule of thumb is if it's an outside intervention it's fine. I would still rather build my own IFAK from local pharmacy tier supplies desu.
>>64129782In all seriousness you can build a decent IFAK from breaking into an expired car first aid kit and adding a $30 TQ. People overthink this shit a lot.
>>64129754Can say that about a lot of armor products. Who's heard of the Tencate CXP-800? Arguably best white-side Level IV plate currently produced, kicks the Hesco 4800 or 4801's ass on paper and Tencate's rep is perfect. Only major armor mfg with no recalls, lot fails, or NIJ suspensions. Tencate is lame though and doesn't deal their top plates to civs. If they did it's probably $3k a set, easy.Same goes for the LTC 28570, successor to the hypebeast LTC 28595. Arguably the best overt plate out there for M855A1 / M80A1 protection (4.38lb), but "second hand" set prices are jacked (3.5k).Don't forget the VelSys PBZSA. Better than the LTC 28791, been around since 2018, nobody else really talks about it.Even the Adept Colossus is basically a non-entity online outside of certain circles. Average joe is still hurr durr AR500, spartan, maybe Highcom 4SUS4, or RMA.
>>64129834Yeah but all that stuff's actually good.Speaking of which, Tencate/"Integris" need to fire all of their marketing people. Nobody can figure out their SKUs, they have no rep, they have no aura, the name change was retarded, the new logo looks like they bought it from a Jeet on Fiverr, they're lame af about selling to everybody, and basically they just suck at being a business.
>>64129864I agree completely. With Ceradyne gone they're the most advanced armor manufacturer out there. The CXP-800 isn't even their top Level IV. They've had flexible M993 plates (Ceraflex PL-7300) since 2004. 15-hit LIBA M993 plates since 2000. Yet they're lame and only sell scraps to the public. Most big armor companies' LE / mil only plates are 1-2 gens beyond civilian armor. With Tencate I'd say three. LIBA plates were briefly white-side in the mid-00s, but that was the first gen version with M855-vulnerable pellet gaps.
>>64125552I'm looking for some armored war belts, any recommendations? Do all war belts in general support armor inserts or just those specifically designed to do so?Also are Tactical Tailor Fight Light battle belts good to go in general?
>>64128132Also, one tactical cute Asian nurse girl per fire team
>>64130268Some war belts do but not all. Ballistic war belts are usually called blast belts. Crye makes a IIIA AirLite SLC Blast for $390. Jinwudun (Chinese) makes cheaper ones for $130-150, or a thigh length IIIA ballistic "skirt" for $298. Armor Empire has a pretty large belt for $399 but it's mystery meat, likely Chinese.UARM also makes one, but exercise caution with them.
>>64125552I can't tell, are his clothes od green or wolf grey?
>>64130384od greenbags are tanface-wrap is some weird green/tan hybrid colorwhat little you can see of the carrier is multicam
>>64126601I thought M855 was better against steel?isnt green tip out of a 20' barrel known for going through ar500 plates?
>>64130506You're thinking M193, and every other lead-core varmint load. M855 is usually weak vs. hard steel plates, but strong vs. polyethylene.
>>64130506Steel cores beat polyethylene, even 5.7 SS190. There's one recorded instance of tungsten-core 9mm (DM91, Buffman IIRC) beating Level III poly.M855 however shatters on impact with AR500 or MIL-46100. M855A1 is at least par with M193 against steel but trounces PE even better than M855.
>>64130711cheap civilian M855A1 when?
>>64130719I wish, you're getting a deal for $1.00 a round. It beats most base Level III, and can handle Hesco 3810s / 3611s at least on a v50 basis. Loses to "III+" plates with a thicker strike face. RMA 1092 G2, LTC 19513, Hesco 3411 are the big three. Loses also to the high-dollar "less than overt" plates like the Tencate CR6450SA, LTC 28791, VelSys PBZSA. Also gets handled by most SRTs. T212, L211, not Z210. TSAs like LTC 28595 / 28570 or RMA (blegh) XRT handle it easily.Level IV cleanly defeats M855A1. Consistent defeat of all common armor with a 5.56 requires something real exotic like Nammo AP45 out of a 20" musketoon. Even M995 won't cut it.
Alright fuckers. You've seen AR500 armor. You've seen AR500 helmets. You've seen AR500 shields. You've seen AR500 face masks. Now, warriors, bebar witness to...AR500 armor steel shuriken.https://thesamuraiconnection.com/collections/shop-all/products/copy-of-ninja-tri-point-makato-shuriken

This isn't really an infantry field gear question, and kinda faggy, but y'all are the biggest connoisseurs of cordura I can ask about this and there might be somebody on here that can make a recommendation.I'm looking for durable folios that could hold an A5 hardbound, a fountain pen near 5/8" diameter, a mechanical pencil, and a Staedtler eraser. This company called Lochby appears to be a stationary hypebeast brand, but either of their "field folio" and "field journal" would fit my needs. Are there any alternatives I can consider that would be more economical?

Time for the armor company of the week. Introducing Mitchell & Son Body Armor. Founded in 2018, they sell 8lb AR700 ultra-hardened steel plates rated to NIJ 0101.07 RF2, 3.1lb M855 / M193 / 7.62x39 mild steel core "RF2 Special Threat" (dropping M80), cheat-ringed RF2+ M855A1 plates, and 3-hit M2AP Level IVs - likely also ceramic tile array.Prices are very cheap. Similar looking company to something like Gilliam Technical Services, but more appealing to the holdouts still using steel plates - it's nothing revolutionary, just another player in the game. Speaking of, Gilliam just replaced their 9042 with a Model 8002, $349 8lb 1.15" thick M993 / M995 rated ceramic tile array plate. GTS is very upfront about using imported materials. This could be the /pfg/ XSAPI we've been looking for if it passes muster. >>64135769that will work, but it's more work than painting it. I'm planning on dying some UCP uniforms in the future though.
>>64135752It looks le very nice, Only thing I'd change is making the two 1qt's into two 2qt's so you can have a gallon of water, although 2 qt's by itself is already enough to sustain you for at least a day or two
>>64135797the plan was to carry the 2qt's with there satchel straps if I needed more water
Already posted in the ifak thread but does anyone else just make their own gear? I custom fit what I need for my area since its niche and I can't find exactly what I want from any real company
I've been recommended the blackfolium stratos belt from a friend, is it good ? It's fairly well priced from what I can see. I'd need a small IFAK (Enough content for a MARCHE and maybe burn care) to go with it, I'm in europe
>>64136712Imo a belt is a belt. Professionally I wore a Condor and an Amazon special two piece complete with a fake scorpion buckle. These held my baton, 3 rifle mags, 2 pistol mags, ifak, M9, and dump pouch for 5 years. That is a long way of saying that yes it will work.
>>64135296Put some pull tabs on the fanny pack, you're not getting that shit open under stress or wearing gloves.
>>64136712>small IFAK>MARCHE and maybe burn carelmao, that's not how this works. a small IFAK will fit a very basic M + very, VERY basic A/R.
>>64137288So something more akin to the direct action med pouch could work
>>64136755>MPcommit suicide immediately you blue falcon faggit
>>64137331If you mean the horizontal pull out one, I have it and it's big but not that big. I think I had an OLAES, two gauze packs, two chest seals, an NPA and a TQ in there and it barely zipped up. Your best bet is a GP like the Tasmanian Tiger Pouch 6 or a bigger fannypack.
>>64138039I think I'll have to rethink what I want in an IFAK, or as you said go with a fanny pack (Helikon Tex maybe)
Not sure if this is the right thread, but I don't see camo, milsurp, or militaria generals anymore. Is there a source for knockoff JGSDF uniforms or material that I could make one out of? I'm planning on turning my KLX300 into a semi-replica of the JGSDF KLX250 recon bikes, going to do all the metalwork as a welding/fab class project, and it'd be nice to have the outfit to match if I take it to shows or whatever.
>>64138766there are ways. not sure exactly how but kruschiki supply company got some >>64135296 (the fanny pack) and they made some smocks in the pattern a while ago, the only other way I herd of is getting some airsoft replicas shipped over but I herd that can be a pain.
>>64138766https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805690115587.htmlAll sorts of chinese suppliers for raw materials>UniformsNot worth the cash but typical sources have them
>>64139449I thought they couldn't sell replicas in Japan at all? It'd probably be hard to find my size anyway.>>64139465Ah cool, that might work. As I say, actual uniforms probably wouldn't work anyway, since I'm an American XL, so fabric is probably my best bet. I wonder if I could find heavy-duty fabric (ballistic nylon or whatever) that'd actually work as safe riding gear, it must exist since they use it for vests etc.
>>64139539no, they can definitely get replicas. seen plenty of airsoft photos to prove that. they can't get surplus is what it is. the website I found is called sandgraf.jp, they ship to the US but you have to email them to place an over seas order. and good luck figuring out the sizing.

Commissioning custom drip is kinda retarded though. You should just do a seat cover and bar guard out of it and wear normal clothes like an adult.
>>64139624good to know. I wont waste my time or money on them.
>>64139596Gotcha. I might be in Japan in a few months so I'll see if I can find some (and if not my friends usually come to the US for Anime Expo so they could probably bring some). Some of my friends over there are into airsoft so they'd probably know. Japanese sizing isn't that bad, it's usually just one size up from American (so a US L is a Japanese XL etc.). >>64139624I can sew normal clothes, so if it's just making a uniform out of regular material I can do it myself. Custom moto gear would have to be a commission though, my little machine can't punch through the heavy duty stuff. I wouldn't do a seat cover or anything, I want my bike to be a reasonably accurate replica of the real military ones and they have a plain black seat. Also wouldn't wear the camo gear around for casual riding or anything (I want to be visible on my bike anyway), it'd just be if I take the bike to a meet or show.
I want a fixed power 4x optic, with adjustable focus and the ability to piggyback a red dot. Basically an ACOG with adjustable focus and a lower price point. I'm willing to sacrifice some of the ultra giga durability as long as the optic is reasonably tough. What are my options?
>>64139720your best bet is to get one of those cheap 1-4 power LPVO's or the primary arms prism's.
>>641397204x is pretty much ACOG only, except for some rare things like the old Sig Bravo 4, good luck finding one of those. If you go 3x or 5x, Primary Arms has stuff

Your personal IFAK should just be the kinda stuff you don't want your medic to use up from his own bag, i.e. gauze, extra TQ, a pressure wrap of some sort, an emergency blanket, maybe some shears so he doesn't dull his own. An IFAK isn't meant to cover more than that. You can stick an NPA or whatever in there too, but your medical guy will have no problems carrying extras of those cause they're not as bulky.

IRIS-3 is the clear pick for the LAM.5. Glock 17 as sidearm. Accessories user preference."Upper Class" BLOC, just for laughs:1. Same, except switch ECH for maybe the Highcom RCH.2. JPC 2.0 stays, switch listed plates to "low-mid-high" dependent on desired protection. VelSys PBZSA, LTC 28570, then for the "high" Protech 9812-R1. If you need a "do-all" the LTC 28570 is exceptional but dumb expensive.3. XG-100P or PRC-7332 for radios, w/ appropriate programming tool.4. AR stays, raise budget on thermal.5. Raise budget on NV, LAM is user preference at this point since the IRIS-3 punches above its bracket.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask how gtg is Millitech soft armor? I have a guy with a Crye Lap panel but he doesn't have the armor insert for it and Millitech seems to be the only one that I could actually get in my price range, hell, the BALCS looks tempting too.
>>64143696Based non-conventional armor enjoyer.>>64144219Be careful. Militech's lineup tests well on youtube, but said youtuber testers are almost always flush with affiliate links - they make money when the armor makes money - and there's always the issue of whether they're sent higher quality and/or heavier versions to test. This isn't unheard of. Buffman for instance didn't care much when his RMA 1192 was 10oz heavier than advertised. Militech has no NIJ certifications. None. They lie about why, they say it's because the NIJ won't certify Chinese armor. They will, but they need a legit business address outside of China. Longfri is certified just fine on a PE plate. Europe or US are both fine for address purposes. The fact Militech refuses to get any NIJ certs but has been around for about a decade at this point should be a red flag. Armor companies that overly rely on youtube testers usually do so because they've got baggage or don't think their product stands up to the NIJ's batch testing and FIT follow ups. Militech also "pre-collects" import charges which last I checked is a flat $150. They aren't as cheap as they were.Otherwise they're top-shelf for China. The issue is primarily quality control. That's your call to make.

>>64160343I mean on the holster, not the gun. Like, surely there would be a threshold where one might be concerned about the long term durability of the holster.
>>64160346I thought you were afraid of the inside of the holster scratching the gun up, lol.Anyway, you're way more likely to break the screws that hold the holster onto the platform or the (imo, retarded) QLS system. That being said, I've broken two Safarilands so far (one I landed on awkwardly, one the ALS locking system literally broke in half while holstering). But no, the kydex (or whatever other material Safarilands are made of) wont just break apart cause it has a crack or a scratch.
>>64160365>one the ALS locking system literally broke in half while holsteringNow I'm curious how long you had that one, and if it was the 6000 series holster or the down-costed 7000 series with it's ALS lock that's a single-part compliant mechanism (it bends).

> water mentioned time to post picrelI've never had issues with anything other than a double canteen and iodine tablets. Sometimes I'll throw a can of Arizona in a 3x mag pouch on my backpack for the longer trips. If you bring a coffee filter, noodles and dried veggies/jerky you can filter+boil freshwater and make broth to drink for meals. A 2 qt saucepan is a bit of a bother but it feeds you and your buddies and helps cut down on the pottable water you consume. Bonus points if you or your buddies know how to forage for herbs to throw in the stew.
>>64164516Pic also related
>>64164516Lisan al-hydrated, what is your take on the 2qt square canteens? I think anons here may have concerns about people shitting in the water supply - river Ganges style - and making it too unpalatable for Iodine treatment - hence the need for more on-body water. My setup is two 1qt canteens belt and a 3L bladder on the PC. I'm debating increasing the water only for contingency reasons.
Also, since I'm here, please recommend a CC holster for my retarded brother who spent 1k on a compact glock with a red dot and a flashlight. Ideally something that'll stop him from shooting his dick off and has room in it for the overpriced, bulky flashlight he bought
>>64164516If you intend to procure water in the field, you'll need to carry enough water to make it from source to source. That depends on a lot, but some long-distance walks may genuinely require you to carry 6 liters. Especially if you move in the day, which is more of a hiker thing than something you'll do if you're trying not to be found.
These dudes had like fifteen 1-liter water bottles between them for four days and had to refill using shady Chernobyl water.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhuhnXvSCOE20kg backpacks, a lot of walking, long distance. A lot of us would be carrying more equipment than that.
>>64164540Never really used one but they seem like too much weight and bulk to have in one spot. I've posted my setup here before (picrel) and two balanced 1qts on either side gets a bit cumbersome at times. Who'd want more? What I do for extra capacity is I keep a 2 qt bladder I got for like 10 bucks in my backpack's camel pouch. Only had to use it twice and when it's empty the thing takes up basically no weight+volume
>>64164554What kind of glock, what kind of light? It's going to depend, because a lot of companies only make light compatible holsters for certain, more main stream lights.
>>64164540Iodine is plenty effective against bacterial and viral pathogens, even in relatively heavily contaminated water. Just extend the treatment time and up the concentration if you're especially concerned, prefiltering through a bandanna or filter papers will help too.Where iodine falls down is against cryptosporidium and that's likely to be a concern in many serious emergencies. You'll need a proper filter (Sawyer mini works) for that, but it won't do shit against viruses. Boiling works against everything so long as you have time for a fire. Pic rel too.
>>64164611No idea on either, would have to check. Any brands to be wary of or check out for? > Different holsters for the pistol/light combinationsMFW. Wouldn't it just be easier+cheaper for me to call him a dumbass and have a separate flashlight?
>>64164682NTA, but but having a flashlight on the gun plus a separate admin light is generally good practice for situations where you're engaging and also situations where you do not want to be pointing a gun around but still need a light.Obviously this is based on old 90s gunwriter advice back when flashlights were much shittier, but it's still situationally good.
>>64164609>>64164644Thank you much
>>64164682As long as the holster is made for the gun+light combo specifically and is made out of plastic/kydex it'll be fine. Any of the mainstream holster makers like Galco, Alien Gear, Bravo Concealment etc. will probably have one for a Glock with a light.
>>64129834Update on this post. Bear witness! To a plate that is MODERATELY better than the LTC 28570 but is even more difficult to acquire. The Tyr Tactical, formerly Diamondback Tactical, XHA4/S6/T WTFBBQ.https://www.tyrtactical.com/shop/tyr-tactical-xha4-s6-t-level-4-ballistic-plate/It is rated to defeat 2x 7.62x39 BZ API or 1x 7.62x54R B-32 API standalone, just like the LTC 28570, but...1. It is also advertised to meet NIJ Level III standalone, so 6x 7.62x51mm M80.2. When backed by competent IIIA soft armor it defeats M2AP, Level IV threat. LTC 28595 / 28570 get cleared by M2AP pretty consistently so this is a nice boost.Weight is 4.5lb SAPI medium, 0.75" thick, so it's 0.05lb lighter than the LTC 28570. Price is $3,000 a set but needs credentials because Tyr is lame and doesn't sell to normal people.

>>64127285>PASGT helmet $40man, did they used to be this cheap? :(

What the fuck is the purpose of the circled part of these London Bridge carriers??
>>64165726thanks>>64165710got mine fore that in 2020

>>64165710You can still find them for sub 50 dollars on Ebay sometimes.Last PASGT-like helmet I bought was an LWH that I bought for 25 at the swap meet
Wheres the best place to get ACU gear in new/unissued condition? I want to try dyeing coyote brown.
>>64166422venture surplus
>>64166432Agreed. I shop direct from thier website. Though they have an ebay store?
>>64166479true chads shop only on ebay
>>64166479yeah
>>64166180Its the retention for the admin pocket. That velcro field is open at the top, you can put shit in it like notebooks.
>>64167087>onlyYeah.>>64167093Nah.
>>64167122I was saying yeah about the ebay
Can anyone recommend me some good reading material for survival/land navigation? Just something I can study or actively use if I’m inawoods without access to internet. Online resources are great but when I’m in the shit and dehydrated I have a feeling I’m not going to remember the finer details of how long to boil water or how to estimate time with the sun, etc. ideally something not to cumbersome so I’m not lugging able encyclopedia around along with my other gear
>>64167164by the time the waters boiling it's safe. also look into the old us army survival manual.
>>64167171Okay I may be retarded. I didn’t even consider army manuals
>>64167174yeah, the reprints are pretty cheap. also look into pic related, its pretty cool.
>>64167174Most of the info in the survival one is pretty good, except for throwing grenades into schools of fish (it does say that)>>64167179>Be improvised munitions book>improvised>half of the recipes need military grade explosives Still a fun book, I have never done anything instructed because I don't have RDX at my disposal.
>>64167386I have a feeling you'd make really good infographics.
>>64167386and the other half don't.
>>64167390On what? Throwing grenades at fish?>>64167393One of them literally tells you to electrocute battery acid or some shit for a total 72 hours, all the ones that you can do from scratch are giga-difficult but I guess in war you'd want a bomb anyway possible. Also the pipe gun things are alright, haven't tried it though
>>64140735Following this guy is there a similar guide like >>64142274 and >>64127285 but more modern so I can just send it to new people? Do I just tell them too copy the us army gwot kit or something like picrel?
>>64167531No, but there was discussion upthread on middle and upper class bloc infographics, so they might be in the pipeline.
>>64167576>they might be in the pipelineNice
Morning Gents, I was wondering if y’all could help me out with a belt setup. I’m looking for something that doesn’t require an inner belt. Angle here is quick on/off on short notice. Is alice the only option for this or are there some legacy style padded belts?
>>64168636HSGI Suregrip>>64166159>Or not at all because waterproof?Bingo
>>64127306i can make an effortpost about the vests if youd like, i had a couple
>>64168922NTA but effortposts are always good.
>>64168986the vests were (supposedly) designed by an ex ffl guy, the first examples i know of were made in clothing factories : due to shortages, this meant all sorts of material was used, from creatively sourced bulgarian splinter to actual flowery pattern textile meant for curtains or summer dresses (side note, i had one of these and they were oddly durable and well built given the raw materials)once things got standardized these expedient types of vests made way for tiger stripe or more precisely a lizard stripe type pattern, though it would still be quite common to find two or three different shades of camo on the same piecethe four mag pouches were padded on the inside for comfort and reinforced with strips of webbing, in addition most vests could carry four grenades, a bayonet on the left shoulder and misc. gear in the two back compartments, in addition to two internal poacher style pocketsmost vests i saw had a zipper closure at the front and snap buttons on the pouches, some had to be tied up and featured buttons or velcro but it is worth noting there were tons of variations of the mainline vest as well as individuals making their own from shelter halves or scrounged shirts/jackets/etc.regarding rarity, most veterans kept theirs after the war while the Big Army reverted to soviet style four cell pouches and some time in the early to mid 2010s the surviving examples that werent thrown away or used up by airsofters were exported en masse, the most common type being the regular green-ish tiger stripe vest followed by the police blue tiger stripe and splinter vests and the flower pattern vests being the rarestin conclusion resellers made a rare specialist item even more rare and youre SOL on buying one nowadays unless if you like getting raped by ebay schlomos
>>64135296cool stuff, but when do you guys use all this gear - just RAHOWA prep or shit like that? i stack and pack AAT but I go grey as possible.
>>64135350Minor shout out here: Dying UCP gear is better than painting it. Painting it stiffens the cloth and it flakes. Really uncomfortable especially in the shoulders near the neck area. Dye it, and then if you just absolutely must break it up more spray on a few light lines of a different color.
>>64169559I like to wear it while practicing clearing my house when no one else is home
>>64169577>if you just absolutely must break it up more spray on a few light lines of a different color.Schlammkreide works better for this on gear and rifles.Take calcium carbonate (white chalk), mix with acrylic paint until it has the consistency of greek yogurt. It will come out a bit lighter than the base paint input. If too thick add water, if too thin add more chalk, if too light add more paint. Apply with a moistened brush and be generousAllow entire thing to aircure for a couple hoursThen handle vigorously once dry to the touch, some wear is expectedEnd result is a chalk paint that handles NIR well, is easily applied and can be removed with water+nylon brush. Good if you wanted to snow/fall paint an otherwise 3 season schema on some gear or rifles. It will gradually wear off as you use the gun/gear and by the end of the season you just hose it off and brush any that remains.>Pic rel
>>64169716I was talking about soft gear like a FLC, not hard gear. Painting soft gear is doable but kinda sucks especially when you can dye it instead.

Introducing the (rough) first draft of JOBBLOC. Basically this is CHADBLOC but price-updated and with better equipment. I left the gun section mostly the same because inevitably people will ask about bolt actions and shotguns.
