I got my first ar-15 (used) a little while ago and I fully admit I am both new and retarded. I haven't even shot it yet but I was playing around with a bore sighting laser and now it's stuck in the chamber with the charging handle not budging an inch. I'm trying to tear down the gun and I have the rear retention bolt out as far as it will go but the receiver will not swing open. Am I just being a pussy and not using the required force or is something seriously wrong? Should I try to pry it up with something like a screwdriver or would that damage the gun (in a serious manner besides superficial)? I hope I'm using the right terms here.

I'm not sure if HK has fixed that in recent iterations (I would hope so), but compare the gassing of the 416 to the SIG 516 or Caracal 816. The 516 and 816 are much better gassed. ROF in full auto with the 516 and 816 is much slower than the 416.You can also see the same phenomena with the BRN-4. There's no shortage of videos online of people using FRTs and Super Safeties with the BRN-4. The ROF is slow enough to be very controllable.
