from a 92X RDO/92X Performance trigger bar, marginal, slight reduction to over travel = shorter reset

Yeah, 92fs. I already did a d spring and it’s pretty smooth. Does it just lighten the pull a bit? Ive got deckocker only so I’m leery on going too light. Side note: any experience with retrofitting legacy tritium tubes? Afaik trijicon and most outfits won’t touch them now. Considering fiber. Don’t think front sight csn be dovetailed.

It makes it short reset, like 2-3mm, probably one of the shorter resets on a DA/SA gun. Slightly optimizes the pull but not really that noticeable versus a spring. Removes overtravel too.

Awesome comparison, thanks! Tonorrow I’m going to play around with the reset. Supposedly getting new slide in tomorrow.
>>
>>64326110
It's safe to say it's about as short of a reset you physically can get in a "drop in" part. I have had some instances of the trigger bar not dropping in with certain frame, hammer, hammer spring combinations where the overtravel reduction is too much and prevents the trigger from being pulled 1/5 times but they are drop in. Langdon has a video what to do if it doesn't drop in (it should)
>>
>>64326116
Don’t think will be much of an issue but appreciate the comparison. I wasn’t sure if it was worth dropping the cash on. It’s cool to have all of these upgrades and parts available now. D spring used to be sole THE SHIT upgrade out there sans the typical polish fluff n dust.

It's quite deece. There are drawbacks, the plastic housing is thicker than aluminium would be around the window and deck. It has one (very nicely clicky) button for all controls. The knobs have no clicks. The battery tray is not waterproof. The lens has an unusually strong green notch filter for a 2025 design. But it's $160 and "made in the USA" which is unheard of, and Sig is tied for the best optics warranty in the business. Unlike chinese companies Sig isn't going anywhere, if it breaks in 15 years they'll replace it with whatever's in production then

If you want something that doesn't have such drawbacks, buy chinese. If you want something that doesn't have such drawbacks and isn't chinese, pay 4x more. Sig has other US made models with fewer/no drawbacks, but they ain't $160. Honestly for me the warranty is the kicker. It's like Vortex with their insane warranty that applies to $120 scopes. $120/160 for an optic that will be supported/replaced F O R E V E R is nuts

>>64326195
>There are definitely affordable options outside of china.
What are some examples? The only stuff I can think of that even gets close to $160 is copies of 5-8 year old designs, and ebay knockoffs

>>
>>64326214
Hmm yeah there are options but I'm not the guy to opine because I'm going to say the chinese bargain is too enticing, Sig is the only outlier in that value bracket. You're paying for nothing by skipping chiner, except with Sig and Vortex you get a lifetime warranty. You do not with Trijewcon or most other brands.

Anyway, I would expect you could find a Shield around $350, Sig Romeo X Pro (open emitter) under $400, Deltapoint Micro can be got for like $150 but their drawbacks are enormous, C-More RTS2 under $250 (really good competition optic but not immune to drops and also a rare footprint--glorious NIPPON aluminium and glass folded over 1000 times), Vortex Compdot is made in the Philippines and WERE under $300 but they've dried up (XL is chiner)

Speaking of slide cuts, what are the thoughts and recommendations on mounting optics to a regular Glock 17 Gen 5? It looks like I'll need to get the slide cut, but have no idea on who to send it to, if I should just buy an aftermarket pre-cut slide for a red dot, or if there are good options that won't require a slide cut. Thankfully I didn't have to worry about this for my sub-compact for ccw.
>>
>>64327213
if you bought a gen 5 that didn't have an MOS cut you're stupid.
for glocks you can probably just ask any local gunsmith, they'll toss it on a pile to get milled the one day a month they have a CNC machine session rented out.

Its simpler to just buy another slide and you dont have any gun downtime while you wait for your slide to get cut.
>>
Maple leaf
Battlewerx
Jagerwerks
Wager
All do direct optic cuts for Glock slides sent in
>>
>>64327271
It was my first ever gun from before I even knew what a MOS cut was. Downtime is no problem, but if buying another slide is close enough in price for a guaranteed good fit, that sounds great. Otherwise if getting a new slide costs like twice or more the cost of a good cut with no real additional benefits, the down time is worth it to me.
>>
>>64327297
Don’t mind the resident faggot. Milling is usually cheaper barring sales. I’d recommend getting your dot and everything ahead of time as they’ll install it while they’re at it. I went jagerwerks and besides the bit of a turnaround, I had no complaints.
>>
>>64327311
Cheers, thanks! Yeah, it looks like buying a new slide is over double the price of getting one milled. Plus I have a p365 and other options, so the lead and processing times are fine.
>>
>>64327376
Lead times for jagerwerks is insane right now I'd go maple leaf or wager.
>>
I was hesitant to send off my one and only slide for permanent modification like that, the extra spare slides are not very expensive for most Glocks, eBay is full of them, $150--170 depending on scratches and finish type (frying pan extra, nitride with holster wear less). OEM slides are extremely swappable.
>>
>>64327271
A cut is superior to MOS. You eliminate one additional point of failure and you can typically get it low enough that with certain optics you don't need to use suppressor height sights.
>>
>>64327398
>you don't need to use suppressor height sights
But then you might want to use a suppressor and it blocks lower half of the red dot window.

replace when you need to. All springs are good until they're not good anymore. The problem is "bad" springs are not good faster than "good" springs, but they're still springs.

and no, theres really nothing you can change on a 1911 that will matter as long as the slide reciprocates, the hammer hits hard enough to ignite a primer, and the trigger pushes itself back out to reset.

You could do worse. There was a time when it would have been an inarguably excellent choice. They're also getting to be slightly harder to find since they are no longer in production. Skip the LEM trigger if you decide to go with a p2ksk as it can be challenging to acclimate to for CC. I carried mine for about 6 years before I finally admitted there are better options out there.
This anon >>64329326 made a great suggestion with the PX4. If you want the best get the Langdon

>>
>>64329500
Spit times are irrelevant in this context, if I asked you for splits you could just yank the trigger as fast as possible while making a 5 foot group at 7 yards. Though I suppose you could lie about a target's distance too, but since you can't even provide an image of a target, lie or not, you're clearly not experienced enough for bore axis to matter. Because the top 10 shooters on the planet aren't hampered by bore axis either.

But by all means, post some proof of your massive world class shooting experience. Whatever you like. You can move the goalposts as far as you like. Post literally anything at all. I'll wait.

rate my purchase. springfield garrison 1911. paid $775 (~$850 after tax) from LGS which is below msrp from looking it up on springfield's website.

only shitty thing is it comes with 1 7-round magazine and that thing is shoddy as fuck. trying to put the first round in the magazine is annoying because it decompresses the spring unevenly and part of the follower gets stuck on the outer shell of the magazine. I have to stick my finger inside the mag to push on the spring evenly as i load it which is annoying.

i bought a wilson combat 47D 1911 magazine but for some reason, i can't insert the mag fully without pushing on the mag release. otherwise it will fit just fine (haven't shot it yet but it seems to cycle manually). any ideas if this is more a magazine problem or is it the 1911 itself? wondering if buying another magazine will fix the issue or if i should expect this for most non SA magazines.

well i didn't want to be so tough on a new gun but i just went ahead and gave the magazine a good smack and it seems to overcome the catching issue. i just thought it was weird that the factory mag slides in smoothly while this wilson combat mag gets stuck. i can't really notice any difference between the two mags but i suppose a couple mm is all it takes to have a smooth ride or not.

Anyways height over bore is stupid to focus on when there is so much more to shooting a gun fast and accurately and was memed into the lexicon by CZ/Glockfags as a way to justify their purchases. Competition shooting is dominated by 2011s, which have really high bore axis. Those guys care about razor thin margins, and even they don't think bore axis is the be all end all of shooting fast.

He buck broke you and the best part is he was right there is a reason why the flattest shooting handguns on earth have a low bore axis. You can cry all you want that it's negligable however I don't want to hear your opinions until you've shot a laugo alien and compared it to something with a higher bore axis. It is undeniably superior.
>>
>>64331741
To add to this, it’s kind of like the difference between a comped and non comped handgun in a way. It’s not gonna fix a shooter with poor fundamentals but it will give a skilled shooter an edge especially when it comes to splits.

>My guess is that the front tritium lamp dimmed before the rears so the armourer just replaced it with whatever was on hand, mismatching be damned
Interesting, I thought it may just be a preference thing but that makes more sense. Shame they didn't replace it with a stock Glock rear, I like the white paint bracket.

i put 250-300 rds downrange last night with it, it shoots great. i haven't spent much time using a red dot and it really helped me start identifying changes i can make to my grip and trigger pull to get back on target faster and shoot more accurately. it also was very reliable, i had one round that didn't chamber so i cleared it, put it back in the magazine, had the same problem with the same round and threw it away and then no further problems. i was trying to shoot and reload as fast as possible while being accurate, in hindsight I should have examined the round to see if it was at fault. it happened with 124gr HST ammo (shot 50 of em). the S&B 124gr functioned flawlessly for the 250 rds i went through. the compensator definitely makes a difference with respect to recoil. overall i think it is going to help me improve my performance in competitions and that's what I want to achieve.

Simply put the front dot in the middle of the black circle.
If I had perfectly steady hands and perfect recoil control I'd have a perfect score it's more those things than the sight picture that affects the group imo

Yeah dude comps and red dots aren't a meme no matter what folks tell you, glad you're getting first hand expirence with em. If you shoot enough you will run into out of spec rounds, it just happens. My worst ammo expirences has been with turkish ammo like BPS and Turan, had a ton of primers that wouldn't pop in any gun and a couple rounds that wouldn't feed in anything either. Pic rel, the primer was seated too deep in this round to fire in any of the pistols I tried it in. Next time save the ammo, you can get refunds from companies occasionally, winchester even took care of me when I had a bad box of WWB

It came with a cool late 90s style polymer stock since i have no gay retarded laws.

That being said these pre-TP9 before B&T got the rights are interesting. There's cheap considering how few were actually produced and they are easily "modernised" thanks to them being 90 % compatible with TP9 parts.

Technically have some already, most of my stuff lives with my dad in our safes (multiple). I'm getting a 92 compact soon enough and I'll probably spring for a Dan Wesson at some point, and a SA35 since they're fun. The seller for this P-01 has about $450ish in aftermarket CGW parts in it, so all I'd maybe want to do is a trigger replacement and get a different hammer if I felt like it, and perhaps an optics cut. Have yet to ever do that on a pistol, I usually get Trijicon sights or Dawsons and call it a night since I'm happy with them. I've used optics on stuff friends and coworkers own, and it's fun and intuitive, I'm just not sure if I want to carry that inside my pants. If I shoulder holster maxx it won't be relevant or an issue. Many decisions to be made. I only buy a few guns a year, three at the most, since I fuck around with parts for ages.

I've lots of 124-grain S&B to ram through it, the CSX, VP9 and maybe the Scorpion if I feel like it. Mayhaps even the fabled Yeet Cannon I've been too afraid to fire since it's a hipoint. The CZ75 has a 16-pound spring factory, and that's what the seller replaced it with as well. I don't buy anything below 124-grains for 9mm, otherwise I'd test the rumored malfunctions the CZ75 has with skinnier girls through it but I imagine we all know it's not really an issue and I can shrimply use a 13-pound spring if I wanted to (I don't). If I get a CGW hammer, it'd be the bobbed since I enjoy those more, even if the race hammer looks cool. Rebuilding a decocker sear is a humongous nigger and I'd be bitching about it here for several days since I use my hands for everything, no vices or tools other than multitools and punch sets. I should probably build up a little workbench area to make this easier on myself... If anyone has recommendations, let me know, I'll appreciate it. AR stuff is fine too. I'm somewhat miserable because I smashed my left thumb in a car door and now it's all black. Forgetting this, I made it worse stopping the hammer fall on the P-01 as I finished dryfiring it and messing with the decocker. I have no digital gauge to actually reference it to, but the DA pull is about ten pounds it feels like, and the SA is maybe five. It's not bad at all. I can't tell if the CGW parts replaced the stock there or not, as the seller didn't provide the bags they came in for everything he did to it.

I should get some MecGar 16-rounders while they're only $21ish on gmw while I'm thinking about it. My TLR1 is broken so I'll test the 7X on it. The VP9 has a noticeably thicker slide and rear due to the striker components versus hammer.

Does the plastic USP frame actually feel thicker and sturdier than a Glock/P10C/M&P etc.? I know the slide is heavier but the rest of the USP doesn't look like anything special.

pretty much the only reason to use a handgun is ease of carry, and the silencer generally ruins that. maybe we'll see some more stuff like the maxim 9, but outside of the cool factor i wouldn't bother, handgun cartridges aren't generally super loud anyways. plus it makes them more front heavy which is annoying.
>>
>>64327563
I cc a P-01 without a light everyday. With shorts or jeans and a belt its fine. The factory sights suck and I replaced them with simple fiber optic sights but other than that I kept it stock.
>>
>>64327563
its doable but annoying both in weight and extra maintenance to prevent rust. used to carry one then when i swapped to a glock years later it was wow why the fuck did i insist on carrying that p01? however you could be attempting to carry a worse gun.

Running through the gambit of trigger upgrades for this build to improve it's shitty feel. Right now all i have is a ghost 3.5 ultimate connector a 5lb striker spring and reduced weight plunger. It helped lighten the pull, but the wall is a terrible rolling wall, not defined, and a terrible reset.

Thought about Glock performance trigger where i polish it up nice and get a new trigger shoe. Cheaper route, but maybe not as crisp as a I would like.

Thought about getting Johnny glock with vex shoe, superior triggers FFT, or tactical pontoon trigger. More expensive, but more likely to give me a nice crisp break and short reset.

Thought and recommendations?

>>
>>64335127
Buy the PSA dagger micro mags that use the regular plastic mag catch ignore the shield arms
>>
>>64336563
If you want a somewhat hard wall you need to use a dot connector or the unmarked #5 connector. The minus connector and ghost 3.5 as you discovered has a rolling break. That does not explain the poor reset however, ghost connectors are notorious for being wonky out of the box and you have to adjust the angle for a more positive reset.
>>
>>64336353
NTA but I have one. It’s literally just an enclosed RMR nothing more nothing less. Same blue tint and edge distortion however I don’t notice it much when I’m focused on the target.
>>
>>64336757
*ignore my dot connector suggestion I just saw the single pin and that gives a rolling break with the gen 5 trigger housing. #5 unmarked will give you a well defined wall.
>>
>>64336808
Appreciate the response. I still am considering doing that, but in combination with a GPT and new shoe.
>>
>>64337037
Lots of people have issues with the GPT even Ben Stoeger I’d either play with connectors until you get something you’re satisfied or go with something from a trigger tuning autist like Johnny Glock or Tactical Pontoon

Went to LGS/Smith and they said I could MAYBE alter one of the old 21A mags to catch, but I'm not so sure, due to the 20x frame being larger. I purchased a couple of steel mags from grabagun that said OEM, and am gonna test them both a bunch to see how they sit. The polymer mags from Beretta that came with the gun will jiggle or shift just a bit even when it's fully in place, and in fact, inserting it all the way doesn't cause it to catch, and I have to give it a little love tap on the bottom to keep it from sliding out. Hoping the steel ones don't have the same issue! If not I think I may buy a third and do some surgery on it to see if I may be able to convert it into being 6 or 7 round and flush versus 8 with the pinky grip.

Also sad to see all the wood grips for the 20x/30x are sold out everywhere, and no one is offering any aftermarket options anywhere... If any anons have shops or craftsmen they like to go to for custom wood/steel grips, I am open to suggestions.

S&w has bad QC, and if you want a S&W tiny gun the Shield plus is much more proven. The masada is a FCU serialized thing so you can get a ton of fun modules like the mischeif machining 1911 module for it if you get bored, and the hellcat pro (and pro comped) doesnt shoot any better groups in my hands than the standard regular shmegular micro hellcat. (Left group 509c, right group hellcat pro)

I carry my FN 509c, it's on my hip right now actually. I love it, something like 15-16k rounds through it at this point without a gun related failure. The grip texture glues itself to your hand while you shoot making it really fast and flat shooting. I love that it comes with 3 different size mags which continue the grip texture, meaning you get a full size, compact, and subcompact in one gun right out of the box. The finish is also top notch, a gunsmithing group im in on facebook had a gun drop his in a lake and fish it out after a year, and the slide didn't have a bit of rust on it.

I cannot reccomend this gun enough.
>>
>>64337921
What’s your response to everyone shitting on the trigger? One of the reasons I got rid of my 365 was it was just too small in my hands and I couldn’t hit shit with it. The other was I hated the trigger and seeing people report the same complaints with the 509CT has me concerned

>>

Good luck, Beretta seems to hate the people who buy their pocket guns. Handgun hero makes it look like the 21a mag would be long enough for the 20x (I don't know if it's as thick as the 20x mag though. If it is you'd have to file out the square mag catches that are on the front of the 20x mag as they moved the mag release from the bottom rear to the middle of the front.

no, you have a subcompact that fits the hand awkwardly and has the gayest cerakoting I've ever seen. we already determined that grip extensions are mostly a cope with the subcompact glocks. one slightly larger than necessary grip > 3 different modular ones that are constantly changing.

NTA, but I have the precursor FNS9C which I like a lot. People who shit on the trigger are probably being snobs about it. It's fine, better than the stock G34.5 trigger, but worse than the VP9 and P10. I thought it was a bit too heavy of a pull, so I added some reduced weight MCARBO springs to mine and I have no complaints about it anymore.
>>

I really like the trigger, it has a very defined wall and not a lot of overtravel. Since that other FNS anon brought it up I prefered it over the CZ p10 I shot side by side with my buddy because of those things but he prefered his CZ P10 trigger because it was lighter. We both agreed they were both great triggers though. If you end up not liking it Apex makes a GREAT aftermarket trigger for it. Why not go finger fuck one in a store and see what you think?

>>64337990
I felt a small difference, but my groups were the same across all the versions of the hellcat I tried back to back at that rental range (flat fee, infinite swaps is a awesome policy). And that included fast fire groups as well. So while I feel like the comped pro version is softer shooting and easier to manage than the hellcat micro, I didn't get any better results to prove it. Your milage may vary since everyones hands and grip are different.

>>64337975
The g43x is a microcompact, not a subcompact.

>>64338041
No other subcompact comes with compact and full size extensions out of the box. The mags extend the grip texture and make it very seemless compared to mashing a g17 mag into a g26. There is nothing cope about a full size grip being easier to shoot with vs a subcompact grip, or that the subcompact grip is easier to conceal. As for awkward fitting, it fits my size large hands perfectly with the subcompact 12 rounder in.

I will die for my country, the CSX. It's everything I wanted from the market. I forgot if the CZ Rami sucks, even though it got discontinued I'd still like to find one some day. The CSX would be even cooler if we could get DA/SA versions, and I'd be cool with it being a bigger size to accomodate the extra internals. Can someone measure the front sight post on the CSX? I'd like to get a Dawson fiber front for it, since the front is an M&P sight, though the rear is proprietary and I don't think anyone's made a specific sight for the gun yet
>>
>>64338472
>The issue is the QC doesn't match the designs.
That's what I meant if the QC is terrible it doesn't matter how good the design is it's garbage
>>
>>64338401
I think the only gun company (besides the obvious) that I have a severely negative opinion is Sig because of how they're literally putting American lives at stake through their Jewish faggotry.

People hate S&W but I and nobody I know have ever had any issues and if you call their customer service you get an actual white American which is rare as fuck these days.

>>
>>64338461
The CSX-e is a microcompact, a size defined by a thinner than full size frame as well as a smaller than compact package while sporting 10-12 rounds. The 509c with the 12 round mag in is a subcompact like the g26, which is as thick as a regular full size pistol just with a shorter grip.

Both have their advantages, subcompacts are heavier and bulkier which helps make them eaiser to shoot and less flippy than a microcompact, but also harder to carry and conceal. You can pocket carry a 365 for instance, but the FN 509c would be unrealistic to pocket carry.

The proliferation of microcompacts that are still thin but also full size demensions in other aspects is a great thing for the market. I really liked the Sig Fuse I shot, and I'm glad there are more higher capacity but still concealable options on the market

For the 1911 get a tisas, they run around $300 if you order online and you get that absurdly nice 1911 trigger for 1/2 the price of the competition while still making a product arguably better than springfield. Glock sucks at making good tiny guns because Gaston got addicted to polymer coating their mags for some reason, so if you're getting a S&W why not get a Bodyguard 2.0 or Shield plus to fill that niche? As for berreta, there are other anons with far more experience with them who dan reccomend you. I generally don't like em.
>>

Before you buy any gun, you have to ask what it's for. Home defense? Concealed carry? Range toy?

I would recommend a metal hammer-fired gun to juxtapose the Glonks. Just look up the guns in the m9 trials and lock one of those. I recommend the 92FS but you can't go wrong with any of them
>>

>>64338528
i've been meaning to get one of these. $300ish for a functioning 1911 is so crazy
>>
>>64338528

>The LCP22 sucks ass
Source?

BEST? Who knows, maybe it depends on your definition of small, a TX22 Compact is probably going to run circles around anything teeny

I'm enamored with my Ounce for a lot of reasons but the relevant one would be its reliability across a wide range of ammunition power levels, almost everything from 850 fps to 1,700 fps. I also just got a S&W 2214, I do not have anywhere near enough rounds through to judge its reliability but so far it beats my 21A which chokes on CCI SV cause its not fast enough

>>64338401
Why do you want to believe negative crap you read on the internet so badly? S&W is top 10 maybe top 5 of the big manufacturers, they're great
>>
>>64338538
I'm looking for all of the above
>>
>>64338563
Well, this is completely subjective but
>Home defense
Just use an SBR or SBS. I'm not a big fan of handguns for home defense because the only advantage of a handgun is concealment and I don't need that on my own house
>Range toy
I would get either a nice, big revolver in .44 Magnum or get a Ruger mk IV with a suppressor for some relaxing plinking
>Concealed carry
Either grab a .38 special like the S&W air weight model 642 or the /hg/-approved Beretta PX4 Compact Carry 2

>>
>>64338693
Totally understandable, it's a really common misconception because subcompacts became less popular just as stuff like the Shield plus, Hellcat, CSX ect exploded in popularity.

Compared to the FN 509c in subcompact form the CSX is about 1/4" thinner in both frame and slide and about 6oz lighter which makes it much easier to pocket carry. That being said the sig 365 and to a lesser extent the hellcat are the only micro compacts I think really are made for pocket carry

>price isn't a big issue
If price isn't your primary factor than the Tisas probably isn't for you, you should be looking at stuff like Dan Wesson, Sigs, or if you don't mind an external extractor the S&W 1911 is great from what I hear but haven't had personal hands on experience with.

>>64338553
Yeah it's the best of the budget 1911s and is all forged which is cool because springfield hasn't managed that. Some folks have had good expirences with RIA but my buddies RIA sucked ass so much he gifted it to his Dad because the guy shoots 3 mags a year and was just excited to own "the WW2 gun". Taurus 1911s are also pretty dismally bad, a heroin addict I used to play Magic The Gathering with in West Virginia owned one and it was gritty and unreliable.

Tisas makes a great budget pistol, but it's still a budget pistol and if you want and can afford a $1,200 option instead get that.

Oh and fuck Barrell whiskey in general their prices are high and their whiskey sucks
>>
>>64338561
I have an LCP2 is is incapable of extracting duds or unfired cartridges by racking the slide. It absolutely does suck ass. I even sent it to ruger, they just shot a box of ammo through it and said it's fine and didn't even comprehend the actual issue. It's a known issue, but Ruger seems to think there is nothing wrong with having a non-functioning extractor on a gun advertised as a carry option for people with weak hands. . .
