The "people need to move on from the 1950s" gun illness. ARtards are beginning to come off as the 1911 people who insist it's just as combat effective as it was in the 1910s while ignoring that they've been trying to get rid of the damn thing for 40 years because it does "good enough" fine but has never actually done what they wanted it to do. AR fixation is only a recent development in America, last several decades, other guns existed and will exist again.
>>

A really well-built one that has a decades-long track record of reliably switching between multiple calibers and still being accurate and effective in an era where the military's main small arms issue is they can't figure out which bullet is the good bullet is absolutely an improvement. It makes more sense than any drooling retard idea presented, especially the XM7. It *is* the solution and it's not my fault only schizophrenics can see it.
>>
>>64356636
you can switch calibers on ARs too
>>
>>64356585
Are there guns that are potentially better than the AR? Yes. Does that change the fact that ARs and AKs will be on Mars? No. I wonder which will fare better in the stand storms and Martian dust.

>>
>>64356667
They're not wrong
>>
>>64356690
So why haven't they done that? If it's that easy, this issue would've been solved 10 years ago. The issue is that the AR-15 *can* shoot other calibers, but was never actually meant to. It's a gun from the 1950s that you technically can get to do things it was never designed for, but what is that going to do to the rifle over time? They've probably already done plenty of testing and found it unfeasible.

What makes the absolute most sense for the Army that's seemingly desperate to replace 5.56 but can't decide with what would be to have a universal weapon platform that can be near-instantly rechambered to be something else depending on who and what it's being used for. That is the XCR, I don't know what other gun fits the role.

Unimag (RIP)
Unfortunately they needed more iteration, about 20% of them don't work with a fully loaded 6.5g mag and the first couple rounds would dive. Using them with other cartridges seems to stretch out whatever was causing the problem and they become usable again after a while. An interesting attempt to solve the STANAG mag limitations for high taper cartridges.

Use applied ballistics BC. Also there's several bullets from different manufacturers that do expand/frag below 1800 fps but it's minimal and less reliable compared to 1800.
Normally, anything berger, tmk, eldm, etc I use the standard 1800 fps figure for animals unless its known to require more fps. ABLR are better at it than others and do have that bonded core for material penetration though.

I'm excited to have essentially a stretched receiver for better carbine performance. Every year we get closer to 308 performance from mini action carbines. I'm already used to 25rd mags so it's not a huge adjustment for me
>>64357813
They did that like in 2011ish? I'm not a huge fan of 277 bullets, but the bug planted by 280brit and it's descendants will eventually lead us to the minmax carbine (until 10mm explosive tipped caseless arrives on the scene) IMO
>>64357858
AB does their own measurements or uses 3rd party sources, correct?
I don't trust expansion threshold figures very much, and expect them to be over-rated by ~25%. At least, that's my experience with Barnes performing poorly. Tipped cup and core (SST etc) seem to do fairly well, if not a little inconsistent. The ABLRs and terminal ascent with their thin walls buck this a bit. Makes reloading a bit more delicate with the thinner (6/6.5) projectiles tho
I don't like to shoot at critters beyond 200yd anyway. Possible exception maybe sheep, but I haven't done that in a decade

Every ten years there are 3-5 new cartridges that ballistically outperform 5.56 in some barrel length or another. The problem these shills always forget is 5.56 was NEVER the ultimate ballistic choice, but that's not why it's the favorite of death squads worldwide: they love it because it does 90% what every boutique cartridge does at 70% or less the weight. Thus you can shoot more than the other guy. Thus you kill him.

If ballistics was all that mattered we would have never switched from .30-06 or .308. it's disingenuous to revolve this entire conversation around ogives, datum lines, or BCs. The reason it's worth discussing in the context of 5.56 is because you're making the best all around cartridge even better.
>>

Interesting, didn't know they were doing that. Bout fucking time.

Nice. I like that bottom reticle.

Oh damn big money hustlers in the house. I'm curious how a stainless barrel will group. What is d wilson doing?

DD Grip N Rip
Stock I got a magpul PRS
Lower is an lmt non ambi
Swapping the bipod to a Harris
Grip is gonna be a sierra precision spr grip whenever I find one but for now its just a b5 stowaway
A company is making a 1:1 of the mk11 can so I no longer have to buy a griffin shitter.

What barrel length you doing? These are the mk11 clone cans coming out. They look pretty good and are only 2k compared to the 6k+ for a real kac nowadays.
>>
>>64358474
>doing
>he doesnt know
Might just get another criterion but we'll see. I'm not opposed to stainless for precision rifles but right now I'm the limiting factor so I want to see just how accurate mine is before I decide to go with something better. How much barrel length do those need?
>>
>DUDE YOU NEED THE DD GRIP N RIP
It's a charging handle, get an ambi or not it's all the same shit.
>>
I have 3 rip and grip charging handles just sitting in my parts bin that came with all my DD uppers. I like the gms 15 evo and silencerco more.

best chamber cleaning system to keep with you in the field? cleanng rods are bulky and bore snakes dont clean the chamber very good because the metal brush in the boresnake is just the size of the bore

damn that sounds pretty thick. Anyone know off the top of their heads the diameter of the ACS and/or SOPMOD tubes. Probably could fit in the toe-end pocket on the ACS depending on the length bundled

Diameter of a CR123a which the sopmod tubes were made for is 0.67" so I could have been off a bit with how I bundled it

Realistically when are you going to have this gun, not have a range bag, and not have any other sort of kit? I don't get why everyone is so into keeping shit on their gun. You're more likely to run out of ammo and need a new mag than you are to have batteries die or need to lube your gun from the grip container. I don't think I'm going to need a cleaning rod before I get through 30 rounds.

newguns here,

do new pmag 30rd mags have issues locking on a closed bolt? is this a spring tension issue that will go away with use?

just got some 30 rounders for the first time, i only had 20 round steel mags before and none of them like to lock into the lower on a closed bolt.

thanks for the help
>>
>>64359442
try pushing harder
they should work
>>
>>64359449
yeah, they do lock in but every time i have to seat it and slap it. maybe i just need to work out more

>>
>>64359457

yeah, I think it gets easier over time as the mag gets used. I remember having mags like that.
>>
>>64359472
i figured that was the case, haven't gotten to shoot with them yet so hopefully it'll get better over time

Known problem if you load 31 rounds in a pmag it won't seat on a closed bolt.
30 rounds should fit but youll have to really push it in.
You might be loading 31 rounds on accident.
