I always put a tiny bit of CLP on the covered portion of the barrel and barrel extension to protect it from saltwater spray/getting dunked.When you reinstall the barrel, I suggest using a torque wrench and setting it to 230in/lb. You can witness mark the barrel nut to get it close in the future with a pocket 1/4" hex head, but I always torque mine to minimize zero shift.
