Is a full size USP a waste in 9MM? I just want one but not committed to .45 yet.
>>
QRD on Ruger revolvers? Especially the GP100 stainless steel .357.
>>
>>64398863
It’s more affordable to shoot in both ammo and recoil, .45 doesn’t hurt but after a while your hands start getting tired. I am not convinced a lot of the “muh .45 USP” guys actually shoot their gun except a few based few. Just comes with the mythology of the gun that attracts people like that
>>
>>64398863
No, why would it be a waste? In my opinion it's really better in .45 or .40, but 9 is fine too. If you're not sold on another caliber, don't feel like you have to buy another caliber.

Reposting from last thread
This was my first attempt at shooting ever; I used a 9x19 Glock at 7m distance. I have some questions and I'm taking any tips /hg/ can throw at me. Bear in mind I live in a noguns country
- odds are very high that I'll be joining law enforcement soon
- I'm already considering buying a handgun as soon as I join LE. Taking into account the fact that I will not larp with my gun, which one would you recommend? Should I get better sights than the regular iron sights?
- if time permits, I might be able to travel to the US for a quick stint, I would most likely visit Chicago because I have some pending business there. What are some decent gun shops there, if any?
Thanks for the advice so far, I never felt mogged by Americans before seeing here just how easily you guys can get a hold of any gun ever made under the sun
>>
I don't even know what a B8 is
>>
>>64398903
what country anon?

fiber or glowing iron sights are good, better at least than the factory ones. BTW, did you shoot with both eyes open?
>>
>>64398903
I dry fire a bunch at the target at the range and try to pay attention to where my sights are drifting then I shoot.
It helps shake out any jumpiness and warms you up a bit.
>>
>>64398915
Huezil. Yes I did, it was uncomfortable at first but it became better with time. I probably took 3 to 4 seconds between shots, whether I was adjusting my aim or my elbows.
>>
>>64398925
I've seen people dry firing at the range, did that once and got a malfunction right after dry firing the gun 5 times.
>>
>>64398908
Looks like an RSh-12
>>
>>64398925
Unfortunately I'm still a noguns faggot so I can't practice yet
>>
>>64398863
What do you want to use it for? I just can't regularly manage to carry a full size handgun so to me a USP is usually just for fun. To me it's limited to a range toy or a or a home defense or cold weather (easy concealment) gun. 9mm makes a better range toy, but if you want a range toy a 1911 is a better one. You can run .45+P and .45 super in a .45acp USP, that's a potent defensive round. Also, in 9mm capacity is the advantage, and a 9mm USP is down 2 rounds vs a modern full size. In .45acp it's either at par or down one.

IMO the real interest in USPs is the aesthetic and the fact that they're a robust and quality DA/SA handgun. Since my only other HK was a MK23, I went with a .45 USP.

It’s wild how often I see this cope from 9mm fangirls. They’ll even say it when the subject is 1911s/2011s. To be fair I haven’t shot the USP itself in a while.

The USP is overbuilt for 9mm but I wouldn't call it a waste. It still shoots well and is a reliable tank of a pistol. I have a .45 at the moment but I plan on getting a 9 to go with it because I just like them.

250 rounds through 20x bobcat, had to call it short at the range, got distracted showing a buddy the basics of trap shooting when he wrapped up with his handgun anyways. Kind of a welcome distraction, I was experiencing a lot of light strikes, failures to fully cycle, and failures to eject. Only twice did I have to use a knife to pry the brass out, it only took a few seconds as opposed to the stories I've heard of folks having to spend several minutes trying to get it free. Reliability improved over time, and I was expecting a break in period of about 150 rounds.
>Used cci minimags, consensus seems they are the bobcat's favorite
>Underloaded the magazines, consensus is that on the older models if you overloaded them with the extra space or even just fully loaded them, it could cause issues on your second shot, haven't heard much about that with the 20x but played it safe
>Fucking BABIED the gun with some balistol and q-tips for the barrel every 40-60 shots or so

My plan right now is
>Get at least another 250 or so rounds through it and see how much things improve, probably try federal punch and velociters to see if my particular gun has a better appetite for those
>After that, polish the barrel and chamber or have a gunsmith do so when I drop off a Rossi
>Pick up a suppressor (already paid for) when the transfer tax drops, am sure this will help with the gas cycling and might even fully resolve the ejection issue

Any anons here have feedback on my current plan, or recommendations on other things to try?
>Inb4 ditch it
I know some of you love to hear yourselves talk. Spare me. This is a range toy, this is me dipping a toe into semi-auto ownership, this is a .22 because it is cheap and fun to practice with, I like that it looks cool. I know bobcats have a reputation for being finicky, I also know friends to swear by their dependability and many owners have zero issues. I am not a quitter faggot, just looking for tips as I try to dial it in.

If you can physically verify the trigger bar isn't wiggling in the channel in the grip it doesn't matter, but also yes for $2400 they should probably be handfitting the trigger shoes, which is a basic operation that 1911 guys do in a couple minutes

Yeah 2011s are great, the trigger is impressive and the good ones do legitimately shrink your groups to 1/2 of what they may otherwise be. The gun just does so much of the work for you. Plus, racking the high dollar ones feels like sliding wet glass on glass, it's unbelievable. That being said, with practice and a $900 CZ shadow 2 or even my $380 Arex with a couple $80 upgrades I shoot about as well as a nice 2011 that cost 5-10x as much. Not as well, but really fucking close. It's probably taken me about 5,000 rounds and an unknown ammount of hours with that arex to get my groups to that level, where the Atlas 2011 I shot my first two 7 yard 10 round groups were as good if not better than my best Arex groups. Up to you and your budget which path you choose. Humble marksman did an interesting video on a new sig 226 that talked about how he likes shooting his 2011s more and they FEEL better, but his groups and splits weren't really any better vs this $1,200 pistol. https://youtu.be/RnfpQhqk7IE?si=lc0g4z8zNDLi-OcV

Left is slow fire, right is fast fire with the Atlas Athena. I think the range rental guy told me all together it cost about $6,000 for this 2011 setup.

>>
>>64400930
Just get the 357 mag version of the LCR and tell him to shoot 38s. It's good right out of the box and is light, but not so light that it sti gs to shoot. The 38 special version is good too, but is a bit too light for my tastes. Taurus are decent, but have a high lemon rate and really bad customer service. Smith J frames are traditionally good, but lately they have had a higher lemon rate as well, though nowhere near Taurus and they will fix them as well with little issue.

Fuck. I know that when I tame this bobcat I will be mogging most of the other .22fags, but as a revolverfag primarily I admire your style. Couldn't justify a .22 revolver since I already have one in a caliber I'd use for self defense, and I AM interested in breaking into automatics. What's the make on your SAA?

They are blowback and don't have extractors so you only want to run high and hyper velocity stuff through them. Otherwise, yeah you could polish the chamber it would probably help extraction. Sticky extraction can sometimes be from a worn tool at the factory making the chamber a bit rough. If the gun is clean and it doesnt have machine marks, its probably a rough chamber and you can to try to get it polished. The light strikes could be from having too light of a hammer spring, a firing pin that's too short or damaged, bad ammo (most likely culprit), or even the channels for the firing pin and hammer being roughly machined and slowing the hammer and pin down. I don't have a 20x or 30x so I don't really know what their QC is like at the moment so I couldn't really guess what exactly it is without looking at it. It'll get better over time and you can speed that up a little by just working the action by hand a lot to wear in the slide and frame fit. The chamber getting polished will help with the sticky extraction, but I would probably try to send it to beretta for warranty before spending money on a gunsmith. They may be able to do something about the light strikes at least.

Giving games workshop any money at all is laughable. I have individual guns that are worth more than my tiny gun collection too, but those are mostly long guns. Hell I have an AR upper that I put together that probably costs more than my collection just in the parts, good bit more if you include the optic. Post those over a grand guns of yours. I'm kinda curious about what guns you are so proud of that you're taking an elitist stance over them.

failed extraction glock 34 slide reporting back

took the screw out of that side of the optic it was the right length. tried a different extractor slide plunger spring set up, and a different extractor. still wouldn't extract. took it apart and put it back together again and noticed a small burr on the slide that was keeping the extractor stuck in the closed position.

Imagine an alternate universe where Steyr went all-in marketing this thing in 1999 and pitching it to police departments. Looking back, there wasn't a good all around Glock competitor on the US mass market until the M&P and XD in the mid 2000s, so Steyr really blew it not taking advantage of the US private/LEO market. I know the Walther P99 was there, but it was more expensive.

Sorry for the slow reply was finding out whats in stock now days. Check out the Zastava M70, they're pretty neat and tiny for a surplus pistol, atlantic arms has em for $225. As for modern stuff the BG 2.0 is crazy good if you haven't tried one. My buddy had one of the Rubys which are a super cool spanish WW1 pistol but they're sort of garbage because each pistol was fitted to each mag, so 100 years later they all got mismatched and now a relatively reliable design for it's time is seen as a jammomatic. Theres also like 100 iterations without any real designation so some Rubys are like 50% as long in the grip or have entirely different geometry, it's a wild rabbit hole to go down my buddy autistically babbled about for awhile. May be your jam.

Hardly anyone in these threads is interested in answering questions or sharing knowledge about handguns. It is more about seeking validation, reposting pictures of the same handguns (some utterly unremarkable, but even the genuinely cool ones are eventually tedious to ogle every thread), and berate each other over bafflingly narrow differences of opinion.

If it were me, I would feel satisfied to already own a few glocks, the 19 in particular (I don't own any, and that is probably the one I would buy), and budget my money towards something different. But, I'm not really a glock stan, and prefer a more varied array of guns in the safe, just a minimalist sensibility. What is attracting you to the .45, is it a caliber you tend to like in the hand, or is it a 'completionist' type of urge to round out your glock family?

I come here to look at pictures of other people’s guns. I’m interested in what other people use. If I have questions I asked them to further my knowledge. I post pictures of my guns because I like making people look at whatever I have in the background and that they may do the same to me and ask about my guns.

It is an image board. Images are important.

Well, I was interested in what other people use as I was on the hunt for the most perfect handgun. I personally have concluded the most perfect handgun is a 2011 in .45 ACP. I have built one and sent it out to Nighthawk for them to redo several issues of my first 2011 build and optic cut it.

>wonder if the slide is interchangeable
It's a Glock, of course it's interchangeable. Starting with Gen 5, even 17 uses same lockup, but on 19 (45, 47, 23, whatever) frame you need to use the compact recoil spring assembly, and if the slide is 17, spacer/adapter that turns it into 47.
>>
>>64405355
i see a lot people complain about the paddle and when I show them to use the trigger finger to release its just different not that inconvenient
>>
>>64405381
Can you please show it to me, I tried to use the paddle and couldn't. Precondition: handgun is in the right hand, pointed forward, the center of mass of the handgun is resting on the middle finger supporting the trigger guard. Right under the paddle, preventing it's downward movement. How do use trigger finger? Where does the middle finger go?

I have no idea wtf happens at 0:57 and if it's related to him holding him sideways, to allow weight of the gun to not press into middle finger still gripping the gun. The other method I don't get the "and do it" step. Like, I can't apply downward pressure that way.

Smooth triggers for me, when my finger is sweaty or lubricant/oil got on it, makes my finger slip/slide on the trigger

Your finger has 10x the nerve endings anywhere else. You can feel that texture and it becomes annoying. Have you ever used golf ball grips for example? You can't use them very long because they dig into your palms and fingertips and quickly become painful without gloves. Same thing here except more nerve endings.

There's a reason most triggers are either smooth or have extremely fine vertical serrations, not big fuck off meat tenderizer spikes.

>>
>>64405710
They messed up by not going to a few different 2011 makers from tisas to staccato, nighthawk making a single stack instead of a double stack was silly. They also should have ate the loss and made sure it sold it at 25 cpr with free shipping online, if you're gonna release a round so ballistically similar to 9mm, it better be similarly priced.

A mixture of online and gun shows since in some cases the cost with shipping isn't worth it.
>>
I've gotten to the point that I don't care about hollow points anymore and just carry 380 flat nose FMJ. Soft shooting, your practice ammo is the same that you carry, and your carry ammo is cheap so you can stock up on it. While this is stupid in 9mm or above, with 380 and below, Hollow points are a detriment as even the best 380 hollow points just barely make 12 inches of penetration. Usually it's even less because all the people that test ammo online use shitty ass clear gel and that shit is less dense than real gel so hollow points don't open as much or as well and everything penetrates more so it's hard to really tell what they will do, but they will probably underpenetrate.
>>

I curl 40, OHP 1pl8, have a beard, and I want to impregnate a woman with 5 kids minimum
No tranny ever thinks of that.
Oh and I have a lot of guns

Look at how you made all the troonime posters squirm.
>>

I've been watching anime while you were in your diapers, zoomie

Are you bragging about being a man in his 30s or 40s watching cartoons made for japanese teens? This isn’t the own you think it is.

A man does whatever he wants and doesn't care about the opinions of others.
Stop acting like a woman and using shaming language
>>
>>64407388

>>
>>64407391
Yeah they can afford them, problem? Whatcha gonna do? Keep typing like a woman trying to shame me?
>>
I’m. A. Man.

I use beard oils. I drive a truck. I use dude wipes. I carry a Glock 19 and go to tactical shooting courses.

The gap between chamber and bore functions like a brake already
>>
>>64407419
4" would be nice too, scandium shroud like 329PD
>>
>>64407419
I still find it hilarious how they have to put that little piece of sheet metal above the forcing cone because "muh expensive ass scandium" is too weak to stand up to magnum flame cutting. Couldn't they give it the same finish as the frame so it is less noticeable?
>>
>>64407245
That is so ugly it's funny
