I watched John Carpenter's They Live today and am glad to report there's AR-15's in it. Winter camo as the uniform amongst non-Soviet urban operators is a well established trope but I don't know if this is the film from which that originates. Rimfire can wise the biggest questions will be
>Steel
vs
>Aluminum
Technically you could also do
>Ti

Steel will be stronger for 5.7x28/22mag , able to be ultrasoniced and generally hold up better against scraping/mechanical removal. 22 cans get dirty as shit so being able to ultrasonic and scrape is nice for sure. Newer suppressor cleaning solvents might render some of that moot fwiw but still interesting. The whole 5.7x28 argument also kinda dumb because 5.7 sounds like shit out of every 22can. A steel can also going to give more weight related issues on most 22 handguns.
Alum going to be harder to clean but drastically lighter. Also no 5.7x28 in there but does that really matter for your usecase?

Ti sort of balances pros of most but will cost more and generally looks like shit. I think most .22 cans look like nike shoe tier shit even before the 3d printing craze. Id buy the most tube looking one possible from pure aesthetic composition reasons.
>>
>>64554773

>>
>>64554775
As much as i like 5.7 theres really no gun in that caliber i want other than occasionally getting the p90 itch but then i remember pccs are kinda dumb. If i do get a p90 ever ill get a can that is good for that. Being able to toss it in the ultrasonic would be nice. It would mainly sit on a ruger mk4

Hello arg allow me to samefag to my question to ask another question. When and why did they get rid of the rear iron sight on the C7 or C8 family of rifles. I have not shot my C7A2 yet nor have I seen a rear iron sight in my few months of service yet. I understand the C79A2 optic has a quick release mount. However I also know that a rear sight in the first place is unnecessary added weight due to the durability of the elcan but why not switch to a flat fsb as well. Keep the corncobs.
I would also like to touch on the C8A4. As a reservist I will not use these. I think we might get carbines if we choose to deploy though. However I heard they might give us the reg forces old C8A3s in the next few quarterlies. In my stupid chud opinion, I think the C7 series barrel length is superior, but the upgrades that come with the c8a4 provide a statistical super overmatch vs the c7a2. Ask me if I should draw a hypothetical c7a3,

i didn't really mean to accuse him of hypocrisy there although I guess some people might think that's the only reason I reply to him.

That being said he's not exactly forthright with tradeoffs unless you're already invested.

>Nice acog, how do you like it compared to the pa other prisms you have/had?
Glass clarity about the same as Sigger and pa prism. Slx 3x weighs about . 3 ounces less than the acog with ard attached, .2 ounces heavier than ta31rco without ard. Slx shares same mount footprint or whatever but less robust in most ways.

Obviously I like it. Not my first time using an acog. I always liked it. What's there to complain about? I find the higher fov helps keep sight picture (albeit probably with some parallax) easier than the longer eye relief of the slx in full auto.

Honestly for being like a third or less of the price the pa copecog comes crazy close but I'd wager only superficially. Plenty of clear examples of reduced material in places that add redundancy. Like the thickness of the trijicon adjustment caps and mount and the body of the scope itself.

Yeah if they beefed up the current non-micro prisms, made everything thicker, they could probably increase the price meagerly but greatly increase its robustness and possibly be a real actual competitor to the LEDCog. They need better reticles too tho. I genuinely liked the illuminated subtensions on the one I had. I used it plenty at dawn/dusk/other lowlight conditions. Worked great.

Convince me that putting a Holosun HS507C-X2 on top of a TA5-0C ACOG that I already have sitting on a 1.93" mount (yes that height is the only way I can get my eyeball to line up with this thing) is a bad idea and suggest a better idea.

And as it is I can see over the top of the ACOG pretty well. I was pretty happy with the setup as is, except the iron sights are pretty useless (although not impossible to use) and I was thinking about "what if I need to use those Drone Rounds that I just found out about".

If I was building this totally new, I'd have just gotten an EOtech with a magnifier, and maybe I'll do that eventually anyway...some day.

My gun has sights now. I intend to get it its own lower at some point this month, and I was thinking about shelling out for a bcm lower just to have a complete bcm gun, I also kind of like the way it looks on a rifle lower, but the weight/balance of it feels off like this to me. So my question is this, will I have to fuck around with the buffer weights/tube/spring length of I were to put it on an a1 lower? Even it did run fine on an a1 lower what would I do buffer wise to optimize it? Will the balance always seem weird on a rifle lower?

>>64556513
First off, before you do anything else, clean your freaking bathroom holy shit.

Second, are you saying that changing the buffer weights will improve the balance, like when you're holding it, somehow? Messing with buffer weights and springs is for managing recoil and reliability, particularly when you don't have an adjustable gas block.
It's also unclear if you're planning on buying a new lower with a rifle length buffer tube like the one you have in that gross picture, or one with a carbine length tube.
>>
>>64556546
Also, now there's piss and pubes all over you gun, because you never clean your bathroom. Just dicks, balls, piss and pubes all over your garbage stick. This is why people despise the lower class. Disgusting, people.
>>
>>64556547
Welp I'm assuming the balance feels off because it's a 14.5 on an a4 lower. When I have the a4 upper on there it feels balanced. The only shorter ars I've shot were 16 inch mid/carbine length guns on carbine lowers and they felt balanced.

My question about the buffer weights and springs and tubes is partly "will it run okay with rifle shit in there? How would it affect performance and recoil? Should I change any of that shit to carbine length?" And then also "will It feel more 'balanced' on a carbine lower over a rifle lower and if those internals would effect the balance?"

I'll clean my bathroom tomorrow.

And I guess another question is if a carbine length tube/weight setup will accept a rifle stock. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do lower wise. I like the way it looks with a rifle stock on it. But like I said the balance feels funny and I want it optimized for reliability/recoil which to me seems like I should go with a carbine setup on the lower.
