How likely is it that I'll be accused of being a leftist if I buy an AK? I'm not one and I don't want to get shit for it at the range.
>>
>>64575091
Did you just watch the recent Jim Fuller interview/podcast or something? At one point he talked about how boomers would give people shit back in the 80s for bringing AKs to the range. Nobody cares now. Even if they did, boomers have proven themselves to be the one of the most incompetent generations with firearms in general, so who cares, fuck them. Also, I'd bet the average commie has an AR.
>>
>>64575091
Commies can't afford good AKs anymore, so unless you shoot US made shit, you're fine. Besides, the AK has killed more communists than any other weapon.

Unlikely. AK doesn't have the political weight/symbolism that it once did it terms of revolution. I've brought AKs to range tons of times and no has bothered me about it. At this point, the gun is an ideologically neutral symbol. You see it everywhere from extreme left wing and right wing groups. If anything, these days most countries producing AKs are socially and (often) economically conservative.

>>64575127
>Also, I'd bet the average commie has an AR
This has also been my observation. Commies often live in poverty and are low IQ/mentally impaired (unironically) enough to promote the ideology that keeps them in poverty, so this shouldn't be a big surprise. Radicals and ATIs can be had for <$450, where as the low end of AK price range is about $750, plus x39 is more expensive per round, be it 7.62 or 5.45.

Anyone know anything about the Sotac Klesch lights? I've seen a Sotac ZenitCo Klesch-2P floating around and I'm really wanting one of those with the gooseneck mount for a future build. I think the under barrel mount looks neat. I know their Perst-4 clones are decent if potted but what about the flashlights? Part of me is kinda like "Well, it's a flashlight what could really go wrong?" Should I just attempt to find an authentic ZenitCo light and mount? I know its already pretty crazy to find ZenitCo stuff like that and the shipping itself it a big risk if its already not in the USA, which is partly why I'm willing to entertain a clone for something like this. Is it even worth it? Are there any recommended alternatives?

Zastava has secured an exemption on their end to export civilian guns. Prices set to rise still because of state side shenanigans. But at least they're coming back in again.

I was surprised to see that they announced this today, I was just thinking about it. Though, with Zastava being so large for the US AK market, why have they not capitalized on it by producing more interesting stuff? I would Buy an M82 and especially an M84.
>>
>>64573822
What's the best quad stack mag?
>>
>>64578924
Thanks. I may consider that. Yeah, seems like the pricing for legitimate items is more of just based on the company itself and the scarcity in the USA market because honestly it's not even worth it. Now the only trouble is finding a clone dealer for that specific item stateside to avoid tariffs.
>>
>>64578995
M82 has a good chance of soon(tm). We'll see how shot goes.
But every new non AK would require them to set up entire new lines and methods at their IL facility for conversation for probably very little demand. All the other non AKs they bring in don't require any work.
Handguns just come in.
M91 and M93 both meet sporting import requirements and don't need any modifications.
The rest of their line up is AKs.
All the rifles use the same jigs for conversation, or are ak pistols and don't need to be converted.
>>
>>64579193
Man I fucked up "conversion" multiple times. I can smell the toast.
>>
>>64579193
I just want some sort of PKM variant, Kits are unobtainable these days and fully built out ones are extremely expensive. There should be more of a market for belt-feds with FRTs being made so easy to obtain.

I want a 5.56 AK. Preferably a side folder budget ~1500-2000.
Wanted a SAM5 but I'm only finding Batch 61s in stock.

Thanks in advance
>>
>>64587536
That Arsenal is gonna be well over $2k if you find one.
61 isn't a batch it's a SKU designation.
I'd say M90 and a bonesteel folder or a 5.56 Jack and Polish wire folder.
Those are well within that budget.
>5.56 AKs are a meme
>>
>>64587536
Meridian 101 is $1850 and coming early next year supposedly. Recreator is also coming out with an AK19 clone around the same time and probably similarly priced to finish too.
>>
>>64587663
okay whatever its a SKU number not a manufacturing batch

either way, aren't the 61s the ones that are horribly overgassed from the factory?
>>
>>64587838
and what's the deal with the SAM5 options on Atlantic's website being around 1800 bucks and everywhere else they're like 2400 minimum? Is it because they're all those overgassed 61s?

You sound black(ed). I don't need to "fuck with" chink knockoffs when I can just go to the Zenitco store for the real deal.

>>64586193
Why would you want one? It's just one of those retarded AK bullpups that every AK factory tried in the 90s, and none of them worked worth a damn. The M16 carry handle kludged on top of the AKSU gas tube is just insult to injury. You've been psyopped by the cockhols, Groza is a meme. If you really want to bullpup an AK, consider repro-ing Kochevnik's kit like Oxide did.

>>64586747
If you want to keep the ability to turn it stock, go with Zenitco. Otherwise, SAG all the way: it's lighter, more stable optics platform, and you don't have to deal with their weird proprietary attachment interface.
Zenitco is specifically targeted at service members who have to turn their guns back in the way they got them, so they design around a prohibition on permanent alterations. SAG usually doesn't, although there is a MK3.1 MIL/LE chassis now that accommodates the handguard retainer rather than requiring it be cut off.

A Polish media outlet reported on it. Semi auto Beryls were recently introduced to the Polish market, contradicting what AoA has told its US customers about the beryl situation.
AoA told the public "no more beryls, FB isnt going to make them anymore, they sold all their tooling, please buy our new rare rifles before theyre gone!" before every few weeks "finding" a few more rifles in the back.

I have an Beryl with the rear trunnion rail locking tab. American, so it's more about the love of the AK than affordability. Can't justify Arsenal prices though. At least not right now.
If it matters, I probably won't want to put an optic on it unless it really fits the AK aesthetics. FRT compatibility (and reliability with a FRT) on the other hand could be a deciding factor, even if that also won't be for a long time.

I'd go Mak90 but it's a bit of grasping at straws atp, both are solid rifles, I think the Mak90 is better and you may be able to add a spiker or something down the road if the lack of a bayonet is a big deal (maybe it is, maybe sick bayonet pics are important for your enjoying the rifle i am not judging by any means here). For me the lack of a dimple is slightly more tism stirring but again both rifles are structurally fine and the price for the Mak90 is relatively normal.
>>
>>64614975
QRD on spikers? It's not a big deal to me, just a relevant factor. Bayonets are definitely VERY COOL though. Honestly I've just really wanted a proper AKM for a long time and trying to do my due diligence on research without going ham and overextending. Wood or bakelite furniture is a must since it fits my mental image of an ideal AKM, although underfolders are pretty cool too.
>>
>>64615009
It you want to add a spike bayonet properly you'll have to press off the front sight and install the proper one. New spiker front sights are about $100-$200 but you'll have to labor if you can't do it yourself. Alternatively: there are clamp on style mounts like picrel. These clamp onto the barrel with screws directly behind the FSP. Real clamp on mounts are rare and they look loose in the photos. There are repro and bubba options that would be cheap too. You may also have to replace the handguards or cut a channel into them so the spike bayonet can close.
>>
>>64615049
2/?

You can see how loose they are here. They don't lock into a lug they just slip over the barrel. Might be a bit better if you have a muzzle nut installed rather than the naked barrel

Just ordered 1000 Geco rounds for some 700 bucks. The better question I find myself asking is how much I will save, and how much I will shoot. Leaning towards s 50/50 divide.
Also, I've decided to not get any corrosive mil-surp, despite it being by far the cheapest.

Call it: 2025 new production Pioneer Arms 5.56 Hellpup or a PSA AK102
>>
>>64617615
PSA and it's not even close.
They'll announce the 5.45 Krink and a new "ComBloc Kit Gun" at SHOT early next year, I guarantee it.

I'm thinking about buying an AK and for some reason I feel an attraction to the RPK over any of the other variants. I'm already spending more then I need to so would buying a 5.45 or 7.62 be a better choice? I know 5.45 is not very fun to buy now because of eastern europe things but is 7.62 any better on that front? What about mags?
>>
Are there still problems with the PSA GF5 bolt's having oversized firing pin channels? I'm in a state that stupidly passed an AWB, but failed to classify receivers as falling under the ban. The GF5 is the only option for me since the Atlantic Firearms WBP offerings are still transferred as rifles.
>>
>>64617640
I’m leaning toward PSA because they have a known reputation but them not having the right rivets and such makes me want to consider the PA 1) because of import laws, since pistols are sold unmolested by the importer. 2) the company reformed and it appears they have resolved the firing pin issue based on anecdotal evidence.

Considering the only other option I can find for a factory 12” 5.56 AK is an SLR106cr for an exorbitant price I’m stuck between >>64617660
Polish QC and PSA, and I have no desire for custom work.

I watched the interviews on YouTube but didn’t hear (probably missed of course) anything about them producing 102s. I saw one offhand comment about Q1 2026 but couldn’t verify. One would think that if they produce 101/103s they would produce 102s/104s. I’m hopeful though.

They have said that they are going to do a 102, it is just a matter of time. For what it is worth, converting one of their 101s to a 102 wouldn't be that difficult at all.

The phrase 'buy cheap stack deep' has never been more applicable than now after the price skyrocketed during the 'rona panic. Course it isn't as cheap as pre-rona of course but it has come down in price in the last couple of years. Buy what you can while you can anons.
>>
>>64617669
Rpks are fun, I just got my m72 from the lgs last week. 7.62 mags are cheaper than 5.45 mags if you buy the surplus ones. Commercial are about the same but idk about the durability/reliability of them. I only have 7.62 aks right now and so only buy surp mags since they are cheap and built well. Plus 7.72 rpks (romy aes10B and Yugoslavia m72) are going to be much cheaper and easier to find than a 5.45 rpk build or parts kit.

>>64617819
Is that the Novus MDS-3? If so how do you like it? I was considering getting one of those for a future 12.25" Draco build I had planned, either that or a Holosun 510C. I have their PDS-1 already and its been decent, no issues out of it, the more I see that MDS-3 the more I consider getting it.
>>
>>64618667
Welp now I can’t decide whether to get a 102 and keep it pure or cut down a 101, get a combo block installed and threaded for 1/2x28. Probably the former, I’d spend more time fucking around than shooting otherwise

Novus MDS-3
Good overall
Zeroing adjustments bit coarse, fine for an AK IMO.

>>64618863
I have badly wanted to see someone turn down a combo block or remove it entirely to get 1/2x28 or 5/8x24 threads right there to reduce the fucking gap that comes with mounting a suppressor using an adapter like picture related.
>>
>>64573822
So I've had a WASR for years that has run flawlessly. If I want some Gucci ass AK, what are my options? Also for mags, what's a good place to get stuff like surplus steels and bulgy waffles?

Not being able to own the three generations of modern Kalashnikovs is a national travesty worse then 9/11. We must immediately remedy this by abolishing the ATF, the NFA and all arms import restrictions as these are all unconstitutional infringements of the second amendment.

It looks like the ambidextrous selector from the PPK-20 is standard all on newer production AK-200s and AK12/15/19 models now. If the real ones are anything like the airsoft ones it’s a major improvement IMO. Makes me wonder why no-one has tried something similar to this before. What is /akg/'s opinion about the ultimak, and gas-tube rails in general?
>>
>>64621023
They get hot and some red dots really don't like that.
Personally I find them ugly too.
I like side rail, rear sight leaf, or dust cover options more
If I had to pick between an Ultimak and iron sights, I'd go irons.

>>
>>64621694
Unlike psa, the meridian is going to be a direct 101 clone with better materials than even kusa could do if they didn't kick the bucket. The psa ak101 is a mish mash of 74 and akm spec internals.

>>64619702
>Makes me wonder why no-one has tried something similar to this before
Same reason Russian military didn't try it before mid-war: mental inertia. The original AK-12 proto was way different: upper\lower construction with solid optics rail, ambi controls, etc. But the boomer brass couldn't figure out how to disassemble and reassemble it quickly, like they used to do back when they were conscripts, so they scrapped the project and we got the 12 we had, and even that in miniscule numbers. The changes went into production only after the frontline reports rolled in.

Do these rails replacing the rear sight work when it comes to zero retention or are they dogshit ?
>>
>>64621741
I don't understand the side folding argument in 2025. Just get a WBP, replace the stock with a 1913 adapter and install whatever folding stock you desire. The only legitimate reason to get a sidefolder is if you amerikkkans want a 103 clone or whatever.
>>
Does anyone remember the url for that sight that talked about the different methods for zeroing aks and sks'? Something Sahara dessert or some such?
>>
>>64622894
Are you talking about this? https://russianoptics.net/
>>
>>64622936
No, it had the word project in the name, I think. And it talked about something like the 2/200 setting or some such. I can't really remember. Maybe I have it bookmarked...
>>
>>64622997
>2/200
No idea what site you're referring to but the 2/200 number might be referring to the battle zero setting on iron sights. The п setting is set to be marginally on target at 25m and 300m ish
>>
>>64622813
They suck big time. If you want a rail, get one of those adapters that slot onto the receiver optic rail and have a length of picatinny rail.
