I still hope to get advice and opinions on if I am fucked joining the military as a autistic person
Even friends now have been asking me if I think I made a mistake enlisting and have been implying they do not think I am cut out for military service

On the other hand I have heard stories of people who seem very severely autistic or "mentally defective" in some way or another far worse then me that did okay
And I also see the "Specialist Kerns" guy on Instagram who is basically a lolcow and compared to him I am definitely not as bad I dont think

I guess a huge question I have is how difficult is it to "keep your head down" at basic training?
I have heard it range from "impossible to hide" to hearing stories about drill sergeants being shocked and pulling records during graduation because someone laid so low they had no idea they even existed

Again as said previously my worry is not about being "bullied" or disliked or even treated "unfairly" my worry is about risk of being separated
If my drill sergeants or other recruits suspect me of being autistic is there a risk that I will be separated? If I am unable to properly form into a team with others due to them rejecting me is there a risk I will be separated?
I am a team player and put others before myself always and I am always willing to go out of my way to help even those who treat me less then kindly but that does not always translate to acceptance from others
I am starting to have major worries about this all essentially being a mirror to highschool and finding myself cast out and ostracized and potentially separated completely

If you are actually diagnosed autistic you're medically disqualified
>>
>>64765090
Didnt pop in the Genesis system to disqualify me somehow
And I am unsure of where I officially stand considering Aspergers is no longer considered a real condition and I was never "reclassified" on the autism spectrum or however that would work

I guess that is part of my question as in could a drill instructor or anyone else who might suspect me as autistic require me to go for screening and another diagnosis which would lead to me being separated?
Obviously if someone asked me I would deny it but could I be required to go for brain scans or any other form of diagnosis?

Side note but the fact that autistic people are officially discriminated against by the military and unwaiverable treated as worthless and on the level of psychopaths schizophrenics and etc is just so completely ridiculous
The only reason I could imagine for it is that normies are just insanely hostile to autistic people for seemingly no reason and it is easier to exclude us officially rather then punish our "peers" for discriminating against us when most of us are good selfless people with strong work ethics and atleast for me are hyperpatriotic and would give anything for America and Americans

You'll be fine. Just don't answer yes to the "are you autistic?" question.

There are so many people like this, they will be the center of attention much more than you.
>drill sergeants or other recruits suspect me of being autistic is there a risk that I will be separated?
DS will wonder whats wrong with you, probably try to humor it out of you, maybe check records but if nothing can be determined for sure, nothing will happen.
Your fellow recruits cant really tell on you either and probably wont want to unless you piss them off.

>Didnt pop in the Genesis system
Good.
>any other form of diagnosis
I think firstly they would ask you a list of questions pertaining to diagnosis.
You passed the personality test already at MEPS right? It was just looking for consistency. That is a pretty good indicator that you are higher functioning already.
>autistic people are officially discriminated against by the military
They might be changing that soon. Some are suing over it right now.
>normies are just insanely hostile to autistic people for seemingly no reason
No, thats absurd. Its about the military having a fetish for snuffing out individualism. I think a lot of autists can get through basic without being caught since there are usually so many shitty performers, women, weird dudes, and some unwilling participants that take up the attention span of the DS.
You'll most likely make it.
Make it through BCT because if they find out you are autistic while you are in service then it is more likely that you will end up staying in anyway.

Thank you both
This has really been stressing me out the past week as I leave for basic very soon but this has given me back some confidence that things will work out
I will just keep quiet keep my head down and strive to meet the standards

At that point you actually have mad job security as enlisted. You can raise a family and they won't move you around.

Officer is a dog and pony show if you aim to make a career out of it.

Eh having gone from being semi senior enlisted to an O, I can see the appeal. To me it seems you don't have to make and own the same decisions as the officer counterpart, I think this applies most like at 1stSgt/Co. Commander level or SgtMaj to BC level. Instead you advise the CO/back him up where you can, and do your best for yourself and your guys.

i tried applying for the us army and they immediately sent me a guide on how to fast-track getting a work visa.
is it really that easy?

Yes but you can't just get whatever job you want, you will be very job limited as a non-citizen.
