>>64815870Nigga you must be new here. The best /gq/ threads are the ai slop magazine cover threads.
>>64815889no, theyre dogshit. I fundamentally do understand the use of AI, as you lack the confidence in either your artistic ability or your humor to make a low effort macro or collage in mspaint, so you outsource it to a chatbot who can be blamed instead of yourself for it looking shit or not being funny, but that in of itself is a strong portent of a thread being garbage.
>>64815913This is gay as fuck dude. Go draw something. Get this twitter bullshit out of here.>Muh practiceYou were a loser in high school, so you drew a bunch of eye balls on your folder, because no one talked to you.

Creators go farthers back than "the cave" when some proto/k/ bro spit red pigment over his hand upon the cave wall for the first time in history and some other cave faggot said>your art is shitFucking cave faggots every time.

Imma design a cloak that can double as hammack but that would be too long so the back would double up and serve as backpack for bulk light stuff like bedding and puffy jacket/pants.could even become kayak skin, and of course better tent than poncho.I fig with a few built in cords and D-clips, I could use the hammack option on public transit hand hold hanger bars.
>>64816153>double as hammackDon't get carried away min/maxin, you'll suffer from mission creep.
>>64815889>bestThey're the worst threads. Nothing but body armor argument spam for 300 posts. Now we have retards actually trying to entertain the idea of dressing up like gay warlords from mad max.
>>64816204There can be only one Toecutter.
>>64816108I'm honestly thinking about getting one of those
>>64816172imma creep it to hammock with integrated bug net! :)I discovered when I flipped the hammock upside down to use without net in the way, the net formed a snug but not too snug comforming net under the loaded hammock, which would be perfect for making any blanket or even dry leaves into a WTF you call them that cost big money "under-quilt" that makes hammock useful in cold weather. If its cold enough for quilt, its too cold for bugs and vice versa. Net also good for drying clothes off ground but still handy.
>>64815889They're certainly the fastest.>>64816204Body armor is this general's specialty and has been for years. You definitely must be new here.
>>64816429>imma creep itThe Russians are already just using popup privy shelters and you will never win the shelter/bed/cloak/hamock/toilet war snowball. I'm returing to soul with a do-rag and a knife.
>>64816437no, that was /bag/nylon was the specialty here with a lot of offshoot into what to put into that nylon, medical, sustainment, plates, mags, tech ect.so yes body armored was discussed here but the autistic rambling about it is for /bag/last thread was 95% about body armored and it fucking dragged on
>>64816472>nylonTAP. All you need.img showing AK mags fit TAP.
>>64816472Always funny when fags like him try to gaslight you into not believing your lying eyes. Remember when /nvg/ was a thread but couldn't be sustained so now we occasionally post here?
>>64816444I fig it will be a SOP full 6x9ft same as plywood plus 6" overhang but not sure why, but that will make it possible for full bivy sack. figure it will have at least a couple Doublings to shorten it when a cape, so can keep heavier items higher up as backpack.one multi perp sheet to serve as cloak, hammock, backpack, bivy, mattress, tent, bug net and corracle boat.Stowed it would be same as bedroll.Saw older US Army training where they used ponchos to put all their shit in and float naked across calm river.
>>64816496yes, and I remember before /nvg/ and /bag/ existedbody armor discussion was left at >get ceramic plates with nij certifications pay more for less weightand /nvg/ discussion was mostly>$1200 for a pvs14? I can't afford that for larping
>>64816502>float naked across calm river.I read a historical biography anmbout a young lieutenant's wife where the forded a river by covering the wagons underneath with a canvas tarp. This was after he gave her a deringer for herself and the baby during a sketchy transit through indian country. The American west really was like that.
>>64816472So dude post about nylon, medical, sustainment.Actually, what do you guys make of this?> https://ferroconcepts.com/blogs/news/ferro-concepts-and-spiritus-systems-propose-open-standard-for-plate-carrier-modularityIf this is done cleverly, it could be a way to give Crye and Tyr a black eye, so I am in full support.
>>64816524is there much variations in front flap attachment?I think it's interesting but it should also include standardized cummerbund attachmentdon't know if it'll matter too much in the long run, it mostly just promotes the spiritus "sell them a piece at a time" schemeit will probably take a military requirement to get crye and tyr on board
>>64816516if I was on Titanic I'd have gone to galley for a lot of hot lard and olive oil and poured it on bedsheets and turned a table upside down with some chairs and made a frame and skin boat.
>>64816524>uhh our gay zippers don't align with everything!so use the same molle strap attachment devices people have used for decades insteadfucking retards trying to force a solution on everyone to a problem they created
>>64816556>it will probably take a military requirement to get crye and tyr on boardI don't think they ever would. Unless there's a genuine military requirement, they might try using different zippers and shit like that just to fuck with them.
>>64816575>legit Floki the Boat Builder.
>>64816515and the numbers aren't there to sustain /bag/ and /nvg/ as separate threads since about 2022-2023, so now everything is merged into /gq/, IMO for the better because the state of armor discussion is excellent (albeit hyper technical) and if you want one-liner tech support style help go to reddit. They'll set you up with a pair of shitty plates from Highscum or RMA fiberglass Inc. in no time.State of NV discussion is also good when it gets there, although we seem pretty tight-wallet these days aside from two high rollers buying PBZ-SA plates.>>64816524Let's see how it does.
>These polyurethane bracers come as a pair. As they are polyurethane, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear. Lighter than fully leather or steel pieces, this armour is great for warm weather. They secure onto your arms with adjustable leather straps. Each bracer has two straps. For bump and scratch protection, brush busting, route finding and H2H, these could also help ward off knife attacks. Note, goes with or without cloak.
>>64816597lmao, the crazy thing is that it's not a terrible idea. Bracers can be hugely important vs. knife attacks.
>>64816597>>64816601I prefer chainmail
>>64816604We all do.
>>64816596you can just sustain /bag/ by yourself, you are already 60% of the posts here
>>64816607it has a vibe for sure
>>64816597no, vambrace should be ar500 at minimum, when presenting your weapon your support forearm is exposed in front of you plate, it needs ballistic protection
>>64816583>Floki the Boat Builderor empty and re-cork some booze bottles and fill pillow cases with them.
>>64816153Basically the Mors Scarf concept by Mors Kochanski in hammock form. I bought a hammock with that design in mind from Molly Mac Gear a decade ago. Not sure if they're still in business.
>>64816609I would say 35% maybe? 60% is a touch high. If it's an armor debate it'll be 50% me, 50% neetmaster. Maybe baganon or someone else will chime in.>>64816617This. AR500 is too heavy, polyethylene is better for this role.
>>64816617Nah, that's what your AR500 buckler with gun port is for.>>64816677>polyethylene is better for this role.Agreed.

>>64817288It's in the emporium. See >>64816032.There's a list of evil scammers selling them at the bottom of the infograph. They will probably just take your money. Using a jammer in the US is ILLEGAL.
>>64816939Makes sense. If you're going for center mass, and if the other guys are shooting at you, you're very likely to end up hitting the forearms. REAL warriors wear bracers.
>>64817394>Using a jammer in the US is ILLEGAL.Information only, I would never violate FCC regulations, that would.be a violation. Do te ship to USA, asking for not me.

>>64816597>these could also help ward off knife attacks. Note, goes with or without cloak. My cloak IS my protection against knife attacks.

>>64817726>My cloak IS my protection against knife attacksThis is good. Because our poofy pants and flaming hat are gay enough for a hate crime.
>>64817666Satan that's easy. Buy unarmored MOLLE bracers from VETERANS store on Aliexpress, then a pair of side plate pouches. Insert Level IV side plates of your choice into pouches. Since you cannot bend the plate to curve with the bracer, use extra length zip ties and run them through the MOLLE. Tighten until stable. 6x8 or 7x8 mini shields. If you use ESBIs plus soft the weight actually won't be too bad.

Armor anons, I come seeking knowledge. Working off the assumption that most armor uses some form of edge cheat or other sketchery, is there any incentive to size up in plate size or is this overblown?
>>64818343>What do you propose?I love mini toggles > dip switches. Battery tech is leaping faster than time-to-market, the external bank is the easy road. Better extruded heatsink should be the basis for design, reverse engineering that is the tall pole. Some type of (CoolMAX) cooling fabric is a cheap easy application to supplement the sink. Better fans, more airflow, better heatsink means a new enclosure. The whole thing would need bench testing for output verification. That's the fun part. Kevin says hi, not really. Kevin says ping pong ching chong.
>>64818371>Working off the assumption that most armor uses some form of edge cheat or other sketcheryMost armor does not. That's a myth created by companies trying to excuse their own fuckery.>is there any incentive to size up in plate size or is this overblown? There are historically very large plates, ranging from 12x15" to 15x16" and even a 16x17" meant to provide full torso protection. However, these went by the wayside for ergonomic reasons. What you propose only matters if you're deliberately running 1" ringed plates or whereabouts. Example, if you're sized for an 8x10 and you bought RMA-style cheat ringed plates, you'd only have 6x8 protection, the size of a side plate. Sizing up to a 10x12 would then get you actual 8x10 protection. Stay away from China, old RMAs, and other shady makes and this won't be a problem.I would be far more concerned with NOMINAL sizing. Example, Highcom's 10x12 shooters is really about 9.25x11.5, so you're down substantial coverage. Hesco's 10x12 is actually 10x12 (wow). RMA follows the Highcom pattern for the most part. It makes sense to force strict sizing by using SAPI M over 10x12 since a SAPI M is a consistent 9.5x12.5, while 10x12 shooters is just industry made up.
>>64818421>9.25x11.5Honestly you're giving them too much credit. It was smaller than that, something like 9x11.35" or something. Crazy fucking small, like a SAPI S.
>>64818430Keep in mind there's a variance, so one guy's Highcoms can measure 9.5x11.5, another 9.25x11.25, maybe another 9.3x11.2. Their not-10x12 shooters is comparable weight wise to SAPI Small also because of the bottom corner cut-outs. SAPIs only have the top corners cut as a rule.Rule of thumb, an honest 10x12 should only be about 0.2lb lighter than an honest 9.5x12.5 SAPI M, unless the plate is very light or heavy. Highcom's 10x12 steel plates are about a pound lighter than their 9.5x12.5, which says enough about how sheisty their sizing is. There's also a 0.7lb difference between the 10x12 RMA XRT and 9.5x12.5 version. Similar for the 1165 and 1155.
What's the best way to carry a knife on a plate carrier? Probably going to just get something 'good enough' like a gerber strongarm.
>>64818617Stuck a boot knife in a TQ pouch here. It's loose, but I could mod the pouch with Chicago screws from the back to the sheath. >>64816493
>>64818697You can do that on a PC if you have a spare MOLLE column, otherwise you've got to run it higher.

Is body armor general gone?Looking for suggestions for an armor setup that meets the followingmodular/scaleable 3A low profile high quality (decently light and thin and flexible) vest for under garment covert application that can easily take ICW plates that provides ideally M855A1 and M80 ball protection but I would settle for M855/M193 762x39 protection. Updated the Hesco infographic with the SC3812 and FXR-Bravo (SC3812B) plus price fixes on the 3801 and 3811. The FXR-Bravo is the most expensive commercially sold plate at $4,200/set. For comparison, a pair of VS-PBZSAs is $2,200.

>AI Overview>The primary difference between a cloak and a cape is length, functionality, and, often, the presence of a hood. Cloaks are typically long (knee-to-floor), hooded, and designed for warmth and protection against elements. Capes are shorter (waist-to-thigh), usually lack hoods, and serve as fashionable, lightweight accessories or dramatic, non-enclosing attire. The more you (I) know.

>>64822139Neither. Why do you pick the worst options bro?
>>64822074Yeah the price needs to go way down. Mind you that's the LE/MIL price because Tac11 is cringe and doesn't deal to normal people, so add 15% and you're at $4,830. Could literally buy two sets of PBZs and have $430 leftover for something else. The only plates that have any business being that expensive are tip-top Ceradynes, Mehler Varios, Tencates better than the PBZSA / VS-TSA, or LTCs better than those. Fuck outta here Hesco. >>64822139Hit up the infographic. Beez's low vis BALCS is pretty appealing given the PBZs are just over 1/2" thick.

It's best in slot.
>>64822249Mehler's interesting because the only plates of theirs you see are 20 years old, and those plates are still relatively competitive. They're still very top tier even if the exoskeleton is stoopid, which it is. >TencatesThe PBZSA is ten years old and predates the latest versions of Spectra and Dyneema UHMWPE. Of course there's better. The TSA is harder though since it's the same age as the fellow GEN-5B 28570. Since TSA/O and LTO are awarded as a pair, the VS-TSA SHOULD have an LTO counterpart better than the PBZSA. Remember, the PBZSA's competitor when it was "new" was the 28780, not the 28791.>LTCsLSAPI has 62mm max BFD, but is only 3.5lb. Sidegrade IMHO. GEN-6 TSA/LTO and TSA/O will mog the PBZSA and TSA respectively though.I agree the PBZSA is S-tier, but keep an eye out for GEN-6 TSA plates.

VPAM PM-6 pimp cape.>>64822315>I made it up>their plates from 2004 are comparable to BAE and Ceradyne plates from 2004You do realize LTC is top tier despite not fully manufacturing their own strike faces or PE backers, right? They buy strike faces from Bitossi, Coorstek, or another ceramic company, then HB212 or HB210 or whatever UHMWPE from Dyneema, and they slap em together and wrap. That's basically a plate minus drop protection, adhesive, and a crack arrestor if present. Somehow you think Mehler, a company which makes boutique footsie and pixar mom armor per your example, cannot do the same?
>>64822350> Somehow you think Mehler, a company which makes boutique footsie and pixar mom armor per your example, cannot do the same?If it's THAT easy, how come Hesco, RMA, and Highcom are so trash? 10 years and none of them have an answer for the PBZSA. You need some baseline competence, and Mehler obviously doesn't have it. I think they're probably around Highcoom-tier these days.> Well the feet are important you see. Protect the toesies against 7.62x39 mild steel core. The foot thing doesn't even look like VPAM-6. I don't know what the fuck they were trying to do. So stupid looking and obviously non-functional.
Anyways, Mehler is difficult to track their latest shit on because they're tight lipped, but there's persistent rumors of a ~7lb or less SK-4+ plate rated for multiple 7.62x51mm DM151 tungsten core. This would be slightly heavier than, but significantly more robust vs the Adept Colossus. Also, mandated <25mm BFS on all three shots.
>>64822366lol more vaporwareWhat's somehow not vaporware is molle foot armor.
>>64822359>If it's THAT easy, how come Hesco, RMA, and Highcom are so trash?Because they cut corners, often literally, lol. >>64822465>>64822475Their exoskeleton isn't even powered. If you strap any additional weight to your feet, you're not going to be moving much, and it obviously won't help vs landmines. It might even make landmines worse.

>>64823573It literally is one of the failed early TALOS suit concepts, from a company called Mawashi. For years, nobody wanted that stinker. Then Mehler licensed it and somehow made it even more retarded.

>>64823581It's a stinker, for now, because it makes you three times as wide so you can't get through doors, the exo is passive, and there's still gaps. Also, it's only PM-6 on most parts so M855 will pierce. In the next five years it'll be a lot more palatable with battery and UHMWPE improvements enabling an active exo solution with M855-capable armor.Keep in mind Mehler is German and M855A1 isn't as common over there.
>>64823598Nah I mean the Mawashi TALOS concept was also a stinker. That exoskeleton is just a total failure. > five yearsLiterally nothing indicates that Mehler and Mawashi are capable of what you're suggesting. Their stuff is trash-tier.

Worth noting the PBZSA, LTC 28791, and Hesco SC3812 all use boron carbide and will get smoked by M995 at 16-20" velocity. TiB2-SiC does not have that weakness.
>>64823684Like any cape shit hero, your glory will only be measured by the strength of your enemies. And you will never match my power. I have read everything from Sun Tzu to Tarzan and have a lot of theroretical experience! You cannot win. We should declare a truce before someone gets hurt.
>>64823706>TiB2-SiC>(TiB_{2}\)-SiC is an advanced ultra-high-temperature ceramic composite (UHTC) combining Titanium Diboride (\(TiB_{2}\)) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) to achieve high hardness, excellent oxidation resistance, and superior fracture toughness compared to monolithic ceramics. >>64823711The Chinese are unfortunately ahead of the west on TiB2 business. It's the next leap forward for plates since B4C hard caps at Level IV and SiC isn't nearly as weight efficient.>>64823752Nice.
>>64823680So why doesn't anybody? Also, making a plate is 1000x easier than a powered combat exoskeleton, and Mehler can barely even make plates that are decent. This is why they're using worthless VPAM-6 plates in their exoskeleton instead of PBZSA-style VPAM-8 plates.
>>64824452>So why doesn't anybodyNo point in spending money on materials and testing when nobody is gonna buy it. Most people cannot swing plates of this caliber, so they're limited to LE / MIL. RMA knows their market is cheap civilian plates, so that's what they orient to. They gave up on the expensive 1192 and 1199. The PBZSA market is controlled by the PBZSA and has been for over a decade. Reputation matters. Tencate's is literally flawless. RMA's is shit. Anyone who doesn't have a long history of military contracts has no business going after the PBZSA. As an example, the Hesco SC3812 is not going to sell unless they go down a lot on price. $2k a set would be persuasive.>MehlerThey only show plates they're comfortable flaunting as many mfg's do. If we were going off of Ceradyne's publkc stuff (Alumina IVs) you'd think they suck too.>PBZSA style exoThat's gonna be 3-4x the price chief.

>>64824545>Mehler> They only show plates they're comfortable flaunting as many mfg's do. If we were going off of Ceradyne's publkc stuff (Alumina IVs) you'd think they suck too.Ceradyne has decades of documented ESAPI/XSAPI contract performance. Mehler's public output is MOLLE foot armor and a pixar mom exoskeleton that makes you too wide for doorways. These are not equivalent situations. > PBZSA style exo> That's gonna be 3-4x the price chief. It's already something like $100k and they don't really sell it (it's more of a joke than a product) so why not use better armor for muh specsheets? Oh, wait, it's because they don't have anything good. Just memes.> The PBZSA market is controlled by the PBZSA and has been for over a decade. Anyone who doesn't have a long history of military contracts has no business going after the PBZSA.Weren't you just saying that Gilliam should make a PBZSA competitor himself? Like pick one nigga, lol.
>>64824545>Anyone who doesn't have a long history of military contracts has no business going after the PBZSA>>64824753Nta, but I'll do it. I have no history of contracts, no materials experience, no process techniques, and no funding. But, I have never let lack of education or competency stop me from anything. I should fit right in with goverment work!
>>64824753>MehlerAs discussed previously, they manufacture military plates for the Bundeswehr and German police, along with some UK and other Euro contract work. I'll happily concede they're second fiddle to Tencate in the Euro market, but they're a cut above regular slop and are comparable to LTC.>The pixar mom exo$100k is swingable if you have metro PD money and need something for a pointman that can go up stairs unlike a shield. Tencate, come to think of it, has an electric stair-climber mount for shields so maybe that merks the Mehler Milf.If we quadruple the price just to show off, they're just wasting money. Besides, the PBZSA can get popped by M80A1 and above. If things are that fierce to justify a 400k exo, you're gonna need to go all the way. Now it's an 800k exo, aw shit it's not PM-12 and now weighs a stupid amount. The Exo still has weight limits. >Weren't you just saying that Gilliam should make a PBZSA competitor himself? Like pick one nigga, lol.He absolutely should. The PBZSA market is dominated by the PBZSA because nobody else can economically compete with that plate. TiB2-SiC can change that. You'll get a heavier plate, but it'll be more robust. Gilliam gets most of his shit from China and like I said before, their B4C sucks. On the other hand, M995 is a rare threat CONUS.
>>64824765You're overqualified. Keep in mind Gilliam is a retired helicopter pilot and is currently MOGGING RMA and Highcum with plates he makes in his garage. I think his company is a one man show.

>>64824925Ive been running the olight odin with their switch and havent had issues. Why the LAM?
>>64824939Clicky caps have less issues. You mount the light at the top right of your guns right rail and with a clamp use your thumb to operate. You would use a pressure switch if you have other things in the way like a LAM but otherwise better to keep it simple. Good WL brands would be modlight, surefire, cloud defensive. >>64823689I am forever annoyed at the price-fixing on the Gilliam 9969. It went up over $200 a plate, it was mogging the more expensive Adept Archon horribly, and Adept supplies the strike face. Tell me there wasn't leveraging.

Sup /k/ommandos, I'm active service in a european military (neither ukraine or russia before you ask) and is looking to improve my body armour a bit. Our issued body armour is essentially like the one shown here: https://youtu.be/85dVarbjebc?t=767, and most importantly has the exact same method to fasten the armour as shown at the timestamp (12:47) with two flaps of velcro going under the front molle pannel. Personally I fucking hate it and I'm looking to buying a set of what I only known of as "quick releases" (picrel) as from what it looks like it barely takes up any space with only one row of molle on the side pannels, is quicker and most importantly doesn't require you to take the entire fucking front off with all pouches still attached every time you put it on / take it off. We don't a domestic industry making tactical shit with only 2 / 3 brands who are mostly geared towards the more tactical parts of our law enforcment, and one of them actually sells these quick releases, for 150 fucking dollars. It's fully possible these are normal prices for this shit but to me it seems like a fucking robbery for some plastic and velcro sewn together, hence why I'm now looking out towards the international market. I've already bought one set for 10 dollars which are currently being delivered, but they are only meant for experimentation / see if I even like it and are as such made in a chinese sweat shop probably with cheap chink material / manufacturing and without any NIR dampening materials, but hey they only cost 10 dollars including shipping so it's worth it IMO for an experiment. If I decide I like them, do you have any tips for brands to look out for when buying the real thing along with general prices for this shit? My only real guideline is no gucci / crye tier brands. I'm starting at the bottom to see if I like it as a concept, then to the middle where chink QC won't be a factor if I like it, to only then go for the actually good stuff. Please, pretty please
>>64825158>and one of them actually sells these quick releases, for 150 fucking dollarsThat's hypebeast pricing and a ripoff.>I've already bought one set for 10 dollars which are currently being delivered, but they are only meant for experimentation / see if I even like it and are as such made in a chinese sweat shop probably with cheap chink material / manufacturing and without any NIR dampening materials, but hey they only cost 10 dollars including shipping so it's worth it IMO for an experimentTest them out, make sure they run effectively, and if they blow in the field or glow against IR then you know you need to upgrade. If not, they're good. Revaluate when the chinese ones are in and don't overthink the issue.>>64823722>>64823707Bad news, that seller is also out of stock. The quest for a multicam black pimp cape continues.
>>64825125Will you be able to commercialize this design? That's where LibaAnon fell short. Is he still around? His last M993-sorta-kinda rated prototype was promising.
>>64825220Like any fiberglass kit for cars, the trick is in the mold. I may be too humble if I say I have "no" process experience. Then it's just a matter of scale. The demand would never really be there, but for classic Renaissance Knight patterned, 9mm proof (fiberglass matte) armor, there could be a niche market at the Faires. Moving up to a dragon scale type IIIA or lvl4 would just be a matter of formula.
>>64825250Bain could be on his way to crack your ass because you're infringing on his dragonscale. (bottom left).
New shit from the clownshow at Tactical Shit. The Highcoom SP8 Level IV plate is predictably on sale. $120 a plate. This is 7.2lb and 1.25" thick, heavily undersized not-10x12 (it's really more like 9x11 as discussed upthread like other Highcoms). Spiritual successor to the piece of shit that was the 4SAS4, except with drop protection this time.$240 a set isn't awful and actually-.06 spec Highcoms do perform. TS does not deserve your business because of how they tried to bone people with the 4SAS4 a year ago, but if your ass is to the wall maybe this is a decent option. Used Protech 2014Gs are likely preferable and can be had for similar cash, but that's a limited time offer.Next up is a "TitanXP" (who?) 8.5lb Level IV plate for $99.99 a plate. 0.8" thick single-curve, I suspect Longfri is the OEM based on marketing language. It claims to be good for 3x .30-06 M2AP owing to a ceramic tile array design. This is really heavy but weight-wise doesn't seem to have a cheat ring unlike other Chinese plates in this area. Alumina-PE so it really should be lighter. If it's stout though, that's good.$99 a plate is for the most part unrivaled these days. There's no testing data and the company's address is a random office building so maybe exercise some caution, but this fulfills a niche for poverty armor. Less than half the price of 4403s or 4S17Ms. Maybe try and find someone other than Tacshit to buy from.
>>64825255>infringing on his dragonscale. (bottom left).Which he stole.
>>64825331From whom? He developed the first SOV-1000 Dragonskin (the titanium version) in 1997 as the head of Armor Technology Corporation.
>>64825317ahahahahah at the 9x11" Highcope plate. As for Titan XP, $99/plate is so cheap that anybody can just buy three and shoot the hell out of one of them. The plates suck, but it honestly seems okay for true poverty armor.
>>64825341>From whomKing Arthur, this shit goes way back.
>>64825345The pricing is strategic. There's no Hesco counterpart at this tier and even RMA's new 1155 is $200 a plate so Highcom can just subsist by "bottom-feeding" at the bottom /pfg/ rung all day. This is cheaper than plates from Militech or Gilliam even. Even Jinwudun.>The plates suck, but it honestly seems okay for true poverty armor.I agree. Anything around the Windows XP volkssturm plate is going to be D-tier GTEagle or Linry trash, or something else equally sketch.>>64825359Call King Arthur as a witness against Allan D. Actually, more on that topic, can we decide if the Guard Dog Ridgeback is worth a shit? 7.8lb, 1.06" thick, multi-curve 5-hit Level IV. Chinese honeycomb tile array. Actual dimensions on the 10x12 are 9.85” x 11.8” x 1.06” so it IS slightly undersized. Competitors are Highcoom 4S17M, RMA 1155 GEN2, and Hesco 4403. It outperforms all three in terms of multi-hit and areal density is favorable. Realistically once the 2230s are exhausted we need a cheapo IV+ below the GTS 8002 in the copypasta.Affiliate video #1: (BFD is rough, old vid)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL3Hs2vN5R8Manufacturer video, guy shooting definitely uses some... uh... >>64825158If you decide you like it, then just keep it. NIR is kinda a meme in a lot of cases, but especially in this case where the buckle is the only part visible, and if youre worried about that you can dust it with krylon or something similar. Chink stitching isnt what it was a decade ago, it can mostly be trusted but for self assurance you could get somebody with a sewing machine to do a couple of rows of reinforcing along the edge of the velcro. The mostly likely weak point will be the buckle, chink plastics dont handle shock or cold as well as the things theyre copying, but if you're concerned about that you could cut the buckle off and get an actual first spear tube with a split bar and just slide it on, which will be significantly cheaper than a complete kit.
