I'm looking to get my first AR-15, Virginia is implementing an assault weapons ban that takes place July 1 2026, and I want to get a half-decent AR grandfathered in. Does anyone have any tips/recommendations? I already intend to buy a bunch of magazines to grandfather in, but I don't know much about AR-15s.I don't have a ton of money, so I'd like to spend like 800-1000 on the rifle itself maximum.
