I want to buy a desert eagle.
>>64966570What's stopping you?
>>64966582Going to the lgs and asking them to order it. Probably have it by the end of the month. I'll fire it seven times, take 100 pics of it, and then break it out four times a year from then on.Also I really like that Walther.
Are LOK grips worth it?
>>64966582>chowdainconceivable disappointment

>>64966599Which Deagle you going for? There are like a hundred different combos in finish, caliber, and model.
>>64966527>jiggle
>>64966599>Going to the lgs and asking them to order it.Big dumb. You will massively overpay. Troll gunbroker for deals or wait for a sale online.
>>64966603I have some on my 92FS and the difference is night and day. Cannot recommend enough
>>64966618fiddy. stainless.
>>64966642Brushed or polished?
>>64966599Why wouldn't you bargainhunt online? Also thanks>>64966603Yes. I haven't tried the veloce pattern but their regular checkering is fantastic and fit has always been superb
>>64966630This. The goal is to not be the guy custom ordering it unless you have the money, in which case you’d have already done so… the goal is to buy one from someone who bought it and realized it wasn’t for them…. That’s how I got my 460 x frame…
>>64966693Word. Got my S&W 500 magnum for almost half price off Gunbroker.
Man I need to really get to upgrading my Glock 17 and 26 Gen 5s with some trijicon sightsAlso need a PPK holster and more mags
>>64966599>I'll fire it seven times, take 100 pics of it, and then break it out four times a year from then on.As it should be, goddamnit!
>>64966633>>64966663Cool thanks!
>>64966608Bros I’m tempted to get a 26X instead of a 43x. I love the slimlines but having the magazine logistics between all my Glocks seems like a real boon
>>64966570My local gun store had a tiger stripped one pre COVID for 1650. I still regret not buying it
>>64966856>1650that's fucking sick. Idk if stripes are my jam but that's a great price.
>>64966860Killer price right? I really wish I bought it. I bought a Colt Custom Shop 1911 over it.
>>64966856>1650
>>64966838You likely won't share many mags outside of an initial short period for the novelty, I'd always go with the gun you like the feel of in your hand the most.
>>64966619Indeed! Great as Nihonjin women are, there should be variety amongst the OP's>>64966714>trijicon sightsThose aren't great TBQH, they don't glow until it's too dark to p id your target>WMLThe tritium lamps are so narrow that your front and rear posts are practically silhouettes when aiming from dark to lightApart from aesthetics, I imagine there are better H-3 options in the Big 26 like perhaps TFX Pro
>>64966663Burt, I had a "But I had breakfast" conversation this morning because of you. Lyman finally dropped the first two of their Sonicores. Gotta call the dealers. I called one and this was the exact convo:>"Hey, so Lyman is releasing their suppressors and you're one of their dealers.">"Is it on our website?">"No, because they just announced they would start shipping them yesterday, and if we want them, we need to contact their dealers. I have the SKU.">"Okay, but are they on their website?">"No, because they are brand new.">"Well, we don't do special orders.">"This isn't a special order, you're one of their partnered dealers.">"What's it called on our website?">"It's not on your site, because you haven't ordered them yet, and I'd like you to order some for me since you're a dealer.">"Well, when they're added to the website we can.">"But you haven't ordered any.">"I'll talk to my manager and get back to you."And then he hung up.
>>64966934It's less about night sights but more just having the "traditional" 3 dot sights.I have Ameriglo sights on my G19 Gen 5 and I think my G19 Gen 4 has the Glock Night sights. The only Glock I intend to keep stock is my 17 Classic
>>64966956lol Some people just don't want to make money. I don't get dealers like that. Guys who leave incoming firearms unopened for 3 days before logging them in. Who list used guns according to sort-by-highest-price on gunbroker. Who act like you're making makework for them to fill out a form.
>>64966966Checked>just having the "traditional" 3 dotI understand, let us know how the Trijicon compares to Ameriglo and the OEM!
Got lucky on this trigger bar install, no need for fitting on this gun. Not sure how much of a pain it would be to take off the frame safety>>64966633>>64966663Probably going to get some one of these days, but dont know which one to get, I feel like with the vertec frame my hands are crowded(?). But I have yet to shoot with that setup only the wrap around
Why are three dot sights a thing? Wouldn't a white line near the tops of the front and rear sights that you can more precisely line up be better for precision shots? What are the best pistol sights for extreme precision?
>>64967034>>64966743I will say that the LOK grips are thin. So you may have to adjust your grip/finger placement after installation. I used to pull on the trigger on my 92 with the pad of my finger but now I use the knuckle
>>64967048
>>64967048>What are the best pistol sights for extreme precision?
Just got these two.My p2000 has heckler and koch rollmark spelled out. I've never seen that roll mark before
I have a PSA Dagger and when I pull the trigger, it's smooth all the way through and then releases with no change to the trigger pull. I don't really care for that. It kinda hard to tell when it's going to go off when I am trying to shoot at longer ranges and squeeze more slowly. I want there to be a little wall near the end that I have to break to get it to go bang. Is there a trigger that feels like that? Like a definitive spot in the trigger pull that says "break point here" that I can pull to and stage the trigger for those longer range shots.
>>64967113
>>64967113>>64967133That's awesome, man! Enjoy!
>>64967133I never got Nazi silver but I did get a lot of buffalo coins at 25 bucks an ounce, wish I did when silver was cheaper.
>>64967113It looks like a highpoint
Is this correct? Is it a pain in the ass if I end up not liking the LEM trigger?
>>64967217I'm sure there are a few Youtube videos and HKPro forum guides floating around on how to do it. I used one years ago when I went Match LEM Hybrid. The biggest thing is the date of when your pistol was made as HK revised a couple parts so you might have to buy a new part here or there if your pistol was made before 2003 or something like that.
>>64966603Yes, I just put these on my surplus 85bb today. I went with the less aggressive texture and it still has better grip than the factory plastics. Looks alright too.
>>64966838Why on fuck would you want a 26 slide on a 19 frame anon? Just buy a fucking G19.
>>64966934>they don't glow until it's too dark to p id your targetIt's never too dark to PID a home invader. If there's another man in my home I know he isn't supposed to be there. There is only supposed to be my a small woman and two small children here.
>>64967245Looking at it I think I might be good. It had a safety lever on it so it should be da/sa I believe. I think I'll end up swapping it to a decocker instead of a safety. Idk why the trigger felt weird earlier though. I'll have to fuck with it again before I buy it.
I have a thread but I'm waiting for the next question
>>64967155I said fuck it and decided to buy silver even at current prices. My goal is to hoard at least 1 full pound if possible this year.Silver and ammo are the only serious investments I want to make this year. But man I hate having debt
Am I going to regret not purchasing one of these blue brazilians for $270
>>64967389I regret knowing this exists.
.38 special is still a useful caliber, r-right guys? Also, what long gun would pair best with a Smith and Wesson Model 10? I'm thinking an AR with classic furniture.
I live in brown bear country and I’m looking at a new carry gun to take out hiking. 10mm is nice but I’m stuck on revolvers. My lgs has a Colt Anaconda and a Ruger Toklat for around $1500. It also has a S&W 329 but from what I hear actually shooting it is a pain and the lock on it seems iffy. Is there any of these you guys have experience with? I’d want to practice with whatever I get before summer rolls around so the fact the Ruger can shoot the cheaper 45lc seems like a good deal
>>64967396it really isn't and won't win you any internet points here for carrying a antique the M4 carbine was adopted 40 years ago.
>>64967381You sound like someone who owns PSA guns.
>>64967425you sound like someone who watches rom coms
>>64967309What he tried to say is HK redesigned the hammer, firing pin and other internals. You have to check you have the new style internals before upgrade. Verify it based on your gun's DC. I believe the new ones are after 98-00 but not sure.
>>64967126Are you running a lower poundage disconnector? Anything that makes the pull lighter via geometry will also definitionally make it less crisp. You could also try a heavier or newer striker spring. I don’t know anything about Daggers, but the great majority of Gen 3 trigger systems lower the pull weight (e.g. Zev, Overwatch), and so they make the trigger kinda mushy, I’d stay away from those. You could look in to Apex ones, but those don’t work in Shadow Systems guns, so I have no idea if they’d work in a Dagger. You might be SOL.

>>64967522Nope its totally stock except for the magazine release. I like the weight, I just don't like the lack of a wall to signal the end of travel. I figured that there wouldn't be anything good available, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
>>64967625>find a 220 at lgs with dings, scratches and holster wear on finishoh neat i always wanted one>1100 price tagoh, nevermind
>>64967686>1100That's retarded. Find an LE trade-in one for half or less than that.
Is this just legal CYA shitLike is there any real difference between the "duty" and "training" rounds because if they didn't have the same ballistics they'd be worthless to train with
>>64967743They batches that SGammo sell of “training JHP” ammo usually fail in QC. One batch didn’t meet penetration standards, or sealant was missing, or wrong projectiles used or mixed.
>>64966714How does /k/ feel about Shadow Systems 920s? They're not quite parts interchangeable with glonks but they've got to be better than PSAslop
>>64967797If Glocks are too mainstream for you, just get an M&P 2.0 or PDP bro
>>64966582>>64966599Is it kinda just a Model 59?
>>64967743Its usually stuff that doesnt pass their regular QC and therefore cannot be used to fulfill contracts, stuff that is loaded lighter while still being a JHP (less recoil for training), or a different projectile entirely that is meant to mimic the duty round without being as costly. But carrying a 45 is dumb anyways so do what you will
>>64967389What the unholy PS1 rendered fuck
Ok, so i have a question regarding 9mm projectiles. I know that hollowpoints expand and dump their energy quickly while creating a larger wound channel, but how the fuck does this bullets work? Does it really displace viscera in the channels or is it just a meme?
>>64967396>killed John Lennon>killed Lee Harvey Oswald>killed plenty of greasy dago mobsters up thru the 50s>still a favorite for CCW>pre lock J frames are the benchmark for S O V L.38 is fine
>>64967815Nah it's it's own thing but it borrows from the same mechanical schools of thought as most everyone
>>64967844It jets fluid of the flutes so as long as it is going fast enough, it makes little X shaped wound channels. Its neat and does actually work, but its a little overhyped. It isn't better than a hollow point and some designs have trouble feeding them, but it can't plug up and not work. Its not really worth the cost IMO.
>>64967866Burt, should I get an old S&W Model 10 or the new "Classic" one without the Hillary Hole?>>64967876So it does work, even if it's not super efficient. I bet it would kick some ass out of a .357 mag revolver.
>>64967888Not Burt but I still want to own a classic Model 10 Heavy Barrel. Possibly the most shootable revolver of all time
FDE sucks. Looking at you, Beretta and HK.
>>64967888You would think, but lehigh desn't load them very hot. Underwood loads them pretty hot, but they lie about their velocity so I don't trust them to load to what they advertise.
>>64967404I can definitely recommend the new Anacondas, super smooth triggers and very comfortable to shoot, but there’s two issues stock, the rear sight, which is a roll pin away from a Wilson that doesn’t drift around, and the grip. The grip issue is common on .44 mags regardless of brand that leave the backstrap exposed in that any exposed metal contributes to the sledge hammer effect of shooting the gun a lot, I put a Pachmayr set on mine and it can be shot pretty much indefinitely with full power .44 mag. If you were going to carry it though? Get that 4in Kodiak with the ported barrel, it would probably have about perfect balance judging from mine, which is a little nose heavy, as it should be with a 6in.
>>64967425technically 2 out of my 3 ARs have PSA lowers, yesBut I glocks, berettas, HKs, sigs, smiths, rugers, etc.
>>64967888Too personal, your reasons are your own. I'll say I am enticed by the new classic line, but the bluing isn't as nice as it was even in the 1990s, and you can still find pretty good quality copsurp pretty cheaphttps://www.gunbroker.com/guns-firearms/search/completed?keywords=smith%20wesson%2010-8&pagesize=48&sort=4&view=2&timeframe=1
>>64966603Yes. I have carried a CZ Rami BD for years and tried a bunch of different grips for it. Stock rubbers obviously, Coolhand G10 checkered, Coolhand G10 sunburst, fancy Marschal wood grips, and lastly a set of LOK G10 checkered. I don’t think I’ll ever take the LOKs off. Their texture is way superior to the others and they are quite thin, which helps offset the Rami’s very considerable chunk. Don’t have a good picture yet unfortunately.
>>64966608Just when you thought anon couldn't make a Glock look even worse he outdoes himself again.
>>64967961>I can definitely recommend the new AnacondasYou're the first person I've seen say that since Colt got bought out

I'm beginning to realize that maybe the Glock 26 might be the best CCW option
>>64968299It really is. I wish I had gotten one before the V and gen 6 BS. Now I don't want to give them money for submitting to karens. Is the Gen 6 an upgrade or downgrade?
>>64968306I hear that the Gen 6 has a flat trigger and better optics mountingI'm interested in a Glock 19 Gen 6 at least
>>64968169nta but I like it. Really wish I got a 26.
>>64968327I want to chop a 19.
LGS has this Remigton "R1 Limited Single Stack" in 9mm. I like the setup. Are these Remi 1911s gud? Also what are the things I should know about owning and shooting a 1911? I want a 9mm 1911 for competition (IPSC Classic) reasons.
Ausfag here. I'm basically handicapped to 10 round mags and full sized pistols only.Looking at picking up my first pistol sometime soonish, don't really know a lot of other guys with pistols to try out, so I've been hovering between an Echelon or a Ronin 1911 in 9mm. Echelon will let me slap on an RMR, Ronin looks cool as fuck to me personally. No point in buying .45 as we can only "compete" with them in metallic silhouette, can't do .45 IPSC
>>64968365Springfield sells optics-ready 1911s. I'd bet they have a Ronin SKU that will let you mount an RMR.If you're capacity-limited and can't carry, I'd definitely go with the 1911 over the Echelon.
>>64968349>Also what are the things I should know about owning and shooting a 1911?taking them apart is convolutedAnd you should only get them in .45 ACP.10mm Colt Delta Elites are the exception
>>64968373Having a look at stores in Aus I'm either stuck getting the slide milled, or buying a DS Prodigy or something else that costs an arm and a leg.Is the Echelon a shit pistol? I've seen nothing but glowing reviews for it. I personally don't want to have my first gun be a race gun/IPSC comp gun, but just have the option for a red dot because pistol irons suck balls.
>>64968405I hear that Echelons are good but a 1911 is a 1911Personally since you're so adamant about 9mm, just get the Echelon
>>64968420It's less about being adamant about it, more about it being the only thing we're realistically "allowed" to shoot in Aus. I can get a .45 but I can practically only shoot it at one range in Brisbane, for one event, or at a farm if I know somebody who owns property, and I'm an autist recluse.
What are some good options for irons upgrades on a 92? Not sure if it's placebo or not but I feel like I have an easier time drawing, aiming, and lining up my sights on my 229 with the X-RAY3 sights.
>>64968187Different anon, but I have two, I like them quite a bit. First one I put Nils grips on, it's a 6" and very solid, and handles spicy 44 very well. Second one is a bead blasted 4", with wooden grips and exposed back strap. It's fun, but holy fuck it can bite after a solid range trip.
>>64967888CheckedOld good new badToo little too late @S&W
>>64968187CZ > nuColt
>>64968299Too bulky and outdated. Go 43 or Shield Plus instead
>>64968280
>>64968642Wilson Combat has a bunch of options, and they charge a normal priceI think Dawson Precision has some as well
Its a range trip and raising canes afterwards weekend boys.
>>64967743What I would do is buy the white box bulk for training then have a couple full color 50 round boxes of the LE stuff that should last you years if you only have 1-2 mags loaded at a time.
>>64968987I should've brought my guns. Range right down the road from my work and I havent been in a bit.
>>64968987Based.>>64968998Cringe.
Are modern Colt 1911 worth it? Never bought one before and want a 1911
>>64969055Was looking at a cheaper version too
Should I go to the regular outdoor range today, or try the new indoor one? It's some crab leg place, Dave and Buster's vibe from the photos I saw online.
>>64969057I've heard good things about the Ronin, like I said earlier I was looking at getting one.Springfield make good cheap 1911's. Personally I'm finding I am absolutely dogshit with pistol irons though, so I'm sticking to buying optics ready guns, and as a new pistol owner, I'm not keen on shelling out 2k AUD just for a 1911 with an optic slide cut.
I don't have a 'Retta handgun yet, but I kinda want one. Debating between a new M9 or a used full size PX4. Both can be had for about the same price. This gun would be purely for funsies (range shooting and just playing with at my desk). I already have metal-frame guns and polyslops, so neither is more novel to me than the other. Which would you get and why?Pic related, it's them.
>>64969126As someone that has shot a lot of Berettas and currently own two, here are my thoughts:1) Get an M9A4. Turn it into the ultimate home defense/range toy. Red dot, suppressor, light etc it is ready to go. 2) The PX4 Compact is perfect for conceal carry. About as easy to carry as a Glock 19 but shoots like a full-size metal handgun thanks to the rotating barrel. Personally, I have the PX4 Compact because I don't like handguns I have difficulty concealing but YMMV
>>64969147Thank you for your insight, Anonymous. The appeal of the 92FS/M9 is retro vibes and media representation. I'd keep it stock. If anything, I might give it a little trigger update. As for the PX4, is the rotating barrel better appreciated on the compact? Would the full size shoot even easier, or is it a case of diminishing returns at that size?
>>64969165I have a stock 92FS Inox and love it. Looks gorgeous, is fun to shoot and feels terrific in the handI don't personally have any interest in the full-size PX4. The appeal of the compact to me is that it's a fantastic CC piece. It's light, DA/SA, very shootable and has a great mag release and decocker that makes carrying and drawing a breeze
>>64968297>Dot connectorThat's OEM for Gen4 onward>Whats the difference? The "dot connector" is narrower because the Gen4 "housing" is narrower. Is it compatible with Gen3 [the Dagger by extension] and an improvement to the trigger "wall" thus the $1.99 premium? Your guess is as good as mine, ganbatte~>>64968424>the only thing we're realistically "allowed" to shoot in AusSad!>>64969147>ultimate home defenseOutclassed by a modified PS90 with an auto resetting trigger

>>64969221You have no fucking idea how much I want to abandon everything except my dog and fuck off across the pond and buy a piece of shit PSA AR and magdump into trash.
>>64969258Isn't the entire outback like a shooting range? You're welcome here in the US as long as you're not a petrolsniffer. Just make sure you pick a good state like PA or WV
>>64969287In theory, yes. Plenty of space, police would basically never bother to hang around empty land 2-300km+ away from the nearest city.In practice, you'd have to drive for HOURS to get that far away from civilisation. AND, shooting on public/crown land is a huge nono. Nanny state bullshit.Plus, I can only own 10 round max on pistols and rifles, I have to jump through hoops, suck my own dick AND the dick of any local politicians and the dick of whoever is running the licensing department at the time to own any semi-auto centerfire. It is literally easier to get a american visa than to try and own a gimped as fuck 10 round ar-15 that would cost me 5000 AUD anyway.
I just bought another 2,000 rounds of 9mm. Have you all noticed the ammo inventories drying up over recent months, not getting refilled, and prices starting to rise? Blame Drumpf. China tariffs, war with Iran, and next the reds will get BTFO in the midterms (since the orange fool did the opposite of what he campaigned on).I think within a month the goyim will realize we're in an ammo shortage, but by then it'll be too late for them. I ran into this before, I fit the mainspring housing.I never looked up which one you were supposed to fit, check "grip safety fitting" or "mainspring housing fitting".
>>64970540>theres a reason why all modern day doublestack 1911/2011 platforms come with no grip safety or the safety pinned down buddyIsn't it because modern day 1911s are geared more towards competitions/raceguns and are thus casequeens/rangequeens? The modern market is after more boutique 1911s and so it isn't concerned with being a duty sidearm for dumb privates or retarded revolver fudd cavalrymen scared about ND'ing while on horseback. Although the thumb safety was added after the grip safety specifically because the cavalrymen were still concerned even with the grip safety existing.
>>64970617>grip safety by removing the bottom tabremoving material on the tab*>>64970623The grip safety only prevents the trigger bow from moving far enough to push the sear off the hammer, the real safety is the manual safety which physically blocks the sear and hammer from moving. The grip safety also acts as an inertia safety to prevent the trigger from pulling itself when dropped muzzle up. But there is a small percentage of people who's hands just simply cannot reliably depress the grip safety so brands have opted to remove the grip safety entirely. I am not sure that the original 1911 didn't have a manual safety, I think that would be retarded since the manual safety does so much more internally than the grip safety. I think it's the other way around, people wanted a grip safety in addition to the manual safety. Anon is wrong since a few 2011s, even high dollar ones, come with function grip safeties.
>discussing grip safeties >in anno domini 2026I wish the 1911 platform would just die. I can appreciate it for what it is, but we've moved on.

I think it's the other way around, people wanted a grip safety in addition to the manual safety. The original 1911 did have a manual safety, but it was added late into its development. The model 1910 didn't have a grip safety when tested against the Savage, and its predecessors had options for either a grip safety or a different kind of "sight safety" that engaged with the rear sight depressed but those weren't standard. Was reading a bit of Handguns of the World last night just to learn the history of why the army wanted .45 cal in their sidearms and it was in the same section as the 1911's development. >>64970471Going with flat ms housing is one of the worst marketing trends of 1911s. It's surprising that with renewed interest in revolvers and legacy guns like the 1911 that rounded housings aren't a thing. High-dollar custom shops like Wilson or Baer don't even offer one even though they're literally CUSTOM shops.
>>64970773Flat is better, but build to order guns they’ll do whatever you want. Wilson even did a stupid V mainspring housing that was a mix of flat and angled.
>>64970783Flatter are certainly better for handlets. And no, they certainly don't do rounded in build-to-order. As the other anon said, you can barely find a rounded.

>>64970825I disagree, flat is better. Also flat mainsprings are better. I was able to get Nighthawk to use a Wilson Combat safety so I’m pretty sure made to order. Wilson Combat was moving away from 1911s but they just had a change of management back to a Wilson (family) member. They probably saw that the gravy train of Sig parts isn’t going to sustain them.
>>64970198I saw your prior post when I woke up and it made me sad I don't have friends to go shoot and eat with bro. Fuck this life
>>64970663I regret worshiping it in my earlier years of handgun shooting. The 1911 looks good, feels good, has a great trigger, and is easy to shoot, so it's easy to like them until you try shooting more than two boxes a year through one. Mine jams more than my other guns, and so does my dad's, and several friends' 1911s. I don't care that it has more magazine capacity now, the 1911 inherently can't keep up with modern standards for handgun reliability.
>>64970854Your 1911s weren't made right and or have simple issues to fix like proper extractor tension The original 1911 115 years ago went 6000 rounds without stoppage, it would have went further but they stopped the test there since it was the clear winner, the 92 and P226 only went 1700 and 2200 mean rounds between failures in the XM9 trials.https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/the-trials-of-the-m1911/It is the perfect handgun. Maybe there really was a secret formula to those early 1911 that made them so much better than anything you can buy today, or maybe the military handgun contracts were just as corrupt in the early 1900s as they are today and the 6,000 rounds thing never happened.
>>64970878And which 1911 can I buy today that will go 6000 rounds without any issues
>>64970977If I were to say under 1000, the Kimber next gen since it has an external extractor which solves a few issues. My Wilson combat has at least 2000 rounds on it and it only malfunctioned once right after I optic cut it, but I blame that on the magazine and PMC JHPs since their OAL is super short. >>64971006>>64971021To be generous, the .45 ACP they were shooting back in the trials seems to have been underloaded compared to today, where it was pushing a ~230 gr bullet at ~800 fps (this photo I posted earlier >>64970669 has an ammo standard of 14.9 grams and 243 meters/sec, which I suspect is due to chicanery related to the book translating all measurements to metric since it's supposed to be covering Euro and international hadnguns as well) compared to the ~850 fps 230 gr ball ammo you find today. That's on top of M1911s being built to withstand GI use and thus being built on the stouter side in anticipation of all the abuse they could see, as opposed to the more finely tuned (and thus more delicate) 1911s everyone sells today. But the real answer is that the US made over a fucking million of the things during WWII and just stuck with their endless stockpiles (plus spare parts) until the 80s. Here's another photo later in the book, describing Savage having trouble building something that would function reliably with the trial ammo, again described as about 230 gr at 800 fps (15 grams and 244 m/sec).As an aside Luger's .45 submission was the third most promising at the 1907 trials, but they did some fuckshit because the gun didn't function reliably with the trial ammo, it didn't function reliably with the ammo DWM provided themselves, and the propellant DWM recommended their pistol use wasn't readily available stateside. This is despite all participants being told that the guns were supposed to use the army's provided ammo and that said trial anmo could be bought for testing their prototypes. After Savage was proving to be a shitshow DWM was also invited to send 200 guns for field testing (Colt and Savage also provided 200 guns for field tests), but because that's such a low production number for a cartridge the Euros/Krauts didn't really care about they declined.

>>64971566>Figures, the .45 ACP at the time was analogous to black powder .44dudeit's analogous to .45 Long Colt which it was supposed to fucking mimic because that's what the Army wanted. The .45 ACP 230 gr 800-850 FPS load goes back to the .44 Colt Walker pushing a .45 cal bal through a .44 barrel at 1,000 to 1,350 FPS -> .44 Colt Dragoon (850 fps at the low end, 1200 when full 50 gr of powder) -> .45 Long Colt (850 fps) ~ .45 Schofield (800 FPS) -> .45 ACP (800-850 FPS).A .45 Cal Ball has been dropping America's enemies since the 1847.

>>64971250>How much weight do you expect to save going from aluminum to polymer?A couple of oz probably. M&P metal is just over 1oz heavier than polymer M&Ps and the 92 has a bulkier frame than an M&P. A couple of oz is a benefit when you're on your feet carrying something for a whole day, and I'm pretty active hiking and stuff unlike most of hg who are sperging from their gamer chairs about how they want the gun to weigh more because it's manlier that way and they're not pussies.
>>64970471>>64970773the answer to "why is this a trend" is almost always the fact that the average gun owner is retarded. They buy their toy, pop off MAYBE 200 rounds a year at <10 yards, then post on facebook about how they're ready for anything.
>>64972453Yeah, dickwaving over weight is dumb, I also think leaving out the importance of a good holster and belt is dumb too. I appendix carry an SP01, but I have a good holster that distributes the weight superbly so it becomes a non-issue even on busier days.
>>64972453>when you're on your feet carrying something for a whole dayNobody thinks about this enough. It's the whole reason why S&W made the "Combat Magnum", which is just a fancy word for 357 with a K-frame. People today think "Combat" means, "durr, made for manly combat." It really means a gun made for someone who may have to engage in armed combat, ie, a police officer that has to carry one all day. Its design intent is for all-day carry, not for manliness.
>>64972453>I'm pretty active hiking and stuff unlike most of hg who are sperging from their gamer chairs about how they want the gun to weigh more because it's manlier that way and they're not pussies.Men have carried steel handguns through the American woodlands and hills for hundreds of years before you were born, don't be a faggot
>>64972468Oh so you think arched mainspring housings are better?
>>64972410RIA makes a 10mm 1911.
IMO gun weight doesn't matter if you have a good belt that basically cinches the gun to your core. No one's going to be seriously fatigued by sub 5 pounds of weight near their hips. A lot of heavier guns are just also simply bigger and bulkier to easily concealing them/drawing them is the issue. I'd love to see some madman make a tungsten frame for a micro compact as that would be a great combination of weight for smoother shooting in a size that almost anyone can carry.
>>64971097Yeah you should probably just give up and sell your guns.
Let me guess, now you retards will believe there's an ammo shortage and you knew all along like a genius goy!

>>64972717You're right this one is the big one. The sky is finally falling.
>>64969055I bought one last year. The "classic" Government model. Very solid so far. Excellent accuracy. Colt gets alot of hate (some of it deserved) but I think they did improve a bit in the last couple of years.I would still recommend checking the gun in person at the store and check the gun for common defects, etc.
>>64972678NTA, but Ben Stoeger is one of very few good sources of information in the ocean of bullshit that is the training industry. If you can't watch his videos without crying and shitting your pants, Joel Park and Hwansik Kim are great too.

ausfag again.Expanded my look into pistols for IPSC, Echelon still on the cards, anybody had any experiences with the M&P9 2.0 Metal? We can only get the extended barrel versions with the comps or just plain threaded barrels, but it runs about 2k AUD and reviews seem to be stellar.Plus, metal frame sounds dope to me. Polymer pistols feel like shit.
>>64972778>Polymer pistols feel like shit.nogunz detected
>>64972787Nopistols, yes. Unfortunately my nanny state decides I have to wait 6 months to have a CHANCE to apply for maybe getting the ability to apply to buy a handgun. I've shot a decent amount for work though, and I own a .243 bolt action. If I could pop down to a shop and buy any old pistol with a 5 minute wait and a NICS form, I'd own a shit ton more of everything, but because the process is so punishing, I'd rather not buy something I'm not a huge fan of and have to wait nearly a year for the next one.
>>64972791Or you could have simply not responded to obvious bait from a troll.
>>64972760Looks like the Armory Craft one is kinda close (maybe). Rival Arms might have something. Or I could just cop out with the basic bitch PMM
>>64972796I'm autistic and retarded, gimme a break.
>>64972778Well it's definitely not a bad choice, especially for a first gun. Probably better than the echelon considering it's not for carry. From what I can see you can get a cz shadow 2 (optics ready) for a little over 2k and an sp-01 for a good bit less (although idk if you know of someone who can optics cut that one, all I can find are dovetail mounts). They are going to feel a lot more "premium" and solid in your hands, and have nicer triggers, and seem to have a decently big aftermarket there. The polymer grip inserts in the m&p are something I don't love, and I don't know if you can get metal inserts there. But you can get the m&p apex trigger kit if you ever want to make the trigger a lot nicer. Also keep in mind different features like comps etc. may put you in different divisions in IPSC, although I wouldn't worry about that and just get the gun you want and have fun.
>>64972778The polymer frame versions have better grip texture and are softer shooting than aluminium, but not as soft as the newest steel frame versions all else being equal. While not a bad choice in a vacuum, the aluminium frame is the worst choice of those three frame types available
>>64972410>>64972737BASED
>>64972941Sweet, my local has the Steel frame one as well for 50$ more, without a comp as well would hopefully put me into duty division for IPSC instead of Open.
>>64972769Most Colt 1911s are to some extent hand-finished. That hand-finishing part unfortunately can lead to some defects. Especially now when most manufacturers hire basically anyone willing to work in those factories, many of them giving zero fucks about the quality of the work they do.Most importantly - You are getting a full steel-framed pistol for ~1000 USD made in USA, so yes, defects can occur when the price is so low.90%+ of the production is fine and will not have any issues. If you want 99%+, then you will have to spend more money on a different brand. Simple as.
>>64972619sybau
>>64972991The steel frame version has two different versions and neither have a built in comp. One has a fluted barrel and ported slide but it’s for weight relief rather than compensation. The only M&P I own personally is the aluminum framed full size (17 round 4.5 inch barrel) Carry Comp version. It’s a good gun and flat shooting but I’m skeptical of if the comp is actually doing anything. I might get a normal slide and threaded barrel for it later.I’ve never shot the steel or polymer ones.

>>64972991Not bad in comparison to the price of the aluminum one. This is the newest steel version btw with the checkered portion on the side of the steel frame. The older steel one just has some decorative little dots on the frame with no real texture, and the aluminum ones have no texture at all>>64973033MorninWe need to find a comically hueg chinese light/laser to bolt on that
>>64972991>>64972941I wish there was a steel framed compact...and CA compliant.
>>64973105why?
>>64973132Aluminum seems like it wouldn't have the real benefits of a steel framed. I would prefer a steel over a polymer and just deal with the extra Ozs.
>>64973140It's strikerslop though. If you want muh real steal carry something hammer fired.
>>64973132I'll probably just get the polymer. Aluminum just doesn't seem worth the extra cost.
>>64973144Fair point. I should look into hammer fired compacts. I can try the CZ again, but I didn't like the slim slide when I tried it.
>>64973063Yeah for us we don't get the newest stuff you guys get as quickly. Slower market, our government fucking hates ANYTHING firearms related. This is the one I can find for about 2k, and will probably drop 200 on a vortex defender until I can stomach buying a Deltapoint or RMR
