Y'all really need some tactical clown YouTuber host a humiliation ritual called a class to convince you to hold the slide closed when shooting suppressed, it just doesn't imprint otherwise.

if you could own only a single firearm which is a handgun what would you get

my town was just added to the list of towns whose residents qualify for a gun license
that license is for exactly one handgun
i am israeli so i might actually need to use it
i do reserve duty often so i will probably carry it instead of a rifle if given the option(im a tank mechanic - for self protection)
and i will probably go out shooting for fun too

what should i consider?
thinking either the boring option of a glock or m&p2.0
i only ever shot an m16,m4 and an m2 so i dont know much about these

It's gotten much better after several hundred rounds, but it still happens a time or two per trip. And I haven't even tried suppressed yet cause they haven't sent the adapter. Will post updates if it changes

TX22 undefeated
>>
>>64954809
I wonder if its due to the booster as the same can direct threaded on to my M9A3 doesn't do it nearly as bad. My PS90 with a 5.56 K can is perfectly fine too. My AR-15s do gas me a little bit but I have the Griffin bolts to help mitigate it. I was just surprised how terrible the G26 was. Like getting hundreds of little lit match heads tossed into my face every shot.

>>64954867
>convince you to hold the slide closed when shooting suppressed
I pretty much had to do that afterwards to finish the other magazines I loaded. Luckily, its a Gen5 G26 so I can grab the slide almost anywhere to cycle it quickly.
>>
>>64954899
>That be what it do. I'm surprised you get hit only with gas and not the debris that peppers me
Yeah, thats what I was experiencing. I recently got a threaded barrel for my P226 so hopefully I won't get sandblasted in the face as badly with it.
>>
>>64954899
They still haven't sent the adapter? Wow, fuck them. Have you tried another yet? It's just a normal M8 isn't it? Should be able to use one from *most* other 22s that use thread adapters like that so long as it seats fully and is long enough to fit the slide correctly.
>>
>>64954710
>Last jam
G21 gen 5, extended slide release lever was disagreeing with my wandering hand syndrome, corrected with standard slide release
>Last malf
Had my first severely underloaded round just yesterday, thought it was a squib but fortunately it managed to clear the barrel. 0 recoil and went off like a pop gun. Worse yet it was .380 FMJ lawman which I use for carry since it's *supposed* to be the most reliable .380 FMJ. RIP.
>>
>>64954914
Oh you will lol P226 is one of the more open guns between slide and frame, in my addled memory it's #2 worst for debris, behind the Arex which is just painful shotgun blasts of unburnt powder and chunks

>>64954915
I didn't take the time to measure the OD, but that'd be the critical dimension if the thread is the same. The OD has to mate up with the front of the slide

I would call them to see if they shipped, but they're closed already. I'll call tomorrow. I called last week and they said they hadn't even shipped yet

Glock 19
>>
>>64954896
Honestly, if you were American I'd recommend the bare minimum is a Glock you can conceal and an AR that you can reach out and touch someone with.

As for Israel, I would focus on something that you can get replacement parts for easily. You may want to go with the IWI Masada
>>
>>64954959
that would still be some glock
masada isnt common
and its not like i will be able to own gun parts that dont make up the gun in the license
>>
>>64954710
My Mark IV jammed this weekend when I ran a dud federal round through like 7 mags hoping it would go off eventually and the rim got so crimped up the extractor wouldn't grab it. Forgot to take a pic of the round, flicked it off the bench onto the range for the fudd janny to sweep up.
>>
>>64954896
If you don't know, just get a Glock 19—
>Israeli
>do reserve duty often
Huh. Jericho might also be a decent choice as it's the duty sidearm, but the briefest of googling claims that Glocks are also used. M&P will also be more fun than shooting Glock, but it's the classic answer because no one goes "wrong" by buying a 17 or 19.
>>
>>64954945
How do I not get blasted in the face with a suppressed 92FS
>>
I got a Ruger P85 from a local pawn shop. $275 with the original case and two magazines. It's in really nice shape. I've heard a lot of good things about the Ruger P series, and it was cheap, so I figured it would be worth picking up. It appears that it hasn't gone in for the safety recall, so I'll have to see what I need to do to get Ruger to deal with that.
>>
>>64954966
jerichos are pretty rare nowadays
service handguns are mostly glocks
>>
>>64954986
Like as in you currently do not get debris bukkaked, or you wish not to be if you shoot one suppressed?
>>
>Last jam.
I picked up a S&W 457 and had to jump on eBay to get OEM spare magazines at ~$50 a pop. Two worked great, but the third I got has occasional feeding issues. Since this is a carry gun, I'm keeping my bad mag for range use to practice clearing malfunctions...but I gotta make sure I don't mistake it for my reliable ones.
>>
>>64955003
Sorry, I do not currently have any experience with a suppressor. I'm interested in getting a can with my tax refund and would like to not have a ton of blowback

I don't get a whole lot with mine. Its mostly just a little CLP instead of hot burning particles.
>>
>>64955023
Nothin you can do really because all autos* have to have parallel gaps between the slide and frame. Some guns are worse than others but it happens to some degree with everything I can remember shooting suppressed. Been awhile since I shot my M9A3 with a suppressor though, maybe somebody can chime in with a stronger memory. Wear glasses is all I can say! It's not painful usually, you just feel little specks hitting your face

*only exception is the SilencerCo Maxim which has a ramped slide shell that physically diverts that direct-line path from barrel out the rear of slide

The 92 isn’t tilting barrel so if you remove the piston and the can is light enough (with lighter recoil springs) you can reliably run without a piston. I’ve seen an anon do it.

>>64955023
Reduced back pressure cans exist but my obsidian 9mm with the booster/piston wasn’t that bad. I had an optic on it which catches a lot of it from the chamber though

It what I did with mine >>64955039

I don't remember the recoil spring I went with but it was only a pound or two less than stock. Also added one of those Wilson Comat buffers just in case. The D spring for the hammer probably helps a little too. The setup works well for about 3 magazines worth and then the fouling gets to the point that you'll run into failures to feed a couple times a magazine.

Last Friday. My dad had this old .45 reloaded ammo I wanted to get rid of. Turned my p220 into a single shot revolver. None of the ammo wanted to feed properly. Kept having to drop the mag and jiggle the bullet out. I gave up after about 20 shots.

The last time was several months ago.
And it was on a REVOLVER.

I was at an in-door shooting range, happily blasting away with my Ruger GP-100. And on second-to-last shot, something happened. The sound was all wrong, the recoil was a bit off. I instantly knew that something had gone wrong.
And then the cylinder would not move. At all. Not even when moved by hand.

Turns out, I had an extremely rare case of ".357 magnum bullet tip CRACKED during firing. A manufacturing flaw during bullet casting. The bullet did leave the barrel, but the copper jacket had cracked and the copper fragments had jammed between the cylinder and the barrel entrance.
And there still was one live round in the cylinder, which I could not move or fling out of the frame.

Luckily the in-door shooting range had a gun-smith service, to which I went right away and informed them what had happened.
He checked it and then just bruteforced it open with a rubber mallet. Luckily there were no structural damage to the gun or the barrel. he deemed it still safe to shoot. He just told me to thoroughly clean the gun and metal brush the leftover copper residue from the cylinder and barrel entrance.

But damn, that was the first time I have had a structural flaw in .357 mag ammo. And it wasn't even some bullshit company that had made it, it was Magtech. So... one in a 100 million case jam on a revolver.

Bonus: the gunsmith didn't even ask for a fee.

id pick a staccato or a ltt beretta 92 but i am also not in a situation where i think id get into firefights or have a war at my border, unlike you
glock 19 & an mp2.0 are both very solid choices, cant really go wrong with either but with only having 1, id go glock 19 over mp2.0 because it has a bigger aftermarket and you will be able to tweak the gun way more
what you should really be considering though is what gun has the most spare parts, magazine compatibility, and shares the same ammo with handguns you would be able to get your hands on if everything goes to shit, being able to take mags/parts you come across and load the same ammo thats already stockpiled is more important than a gun having a slighter better trigger pull or ergonomics, im not sure if they issue glocks over there or if its all jerichos or whatever it is thats used now, i would just use that or get a clone gun that accepts the same parts/mags.
only thing extra id suggest with you being a tank mechanic is to just throw some grip tape onto a glock if you choose that, stippling leaves a bit to be desired and it isnt impossible you could have greasy hands when you have to use it
id get the MOS version too and throw a red dot and a flashlight on it

ive only left a range twice because i felt it was dangerous and one was because a retarded boomer was trying to teach his wife how to shoot and she kept walking backwards while just mag dumping and not aiming or controlling the gun and she hit the ceiling, boomer thought it was funny & i decided the last ~100 rounds of ammo i had wasnt worth risking my life over

the other time was a city ape came out to the outdoor range and had a binary trigger in his AR pistol with a 7" barrel, a brake, and no sights, he kept shooting at other peoples targets(missed every shot) and filming himself shooting it one handed
didnt really believe he could own a gun & i knew the boomers there called the park ranger, i didnt want to be there when the park ranger confronted him if he decided to chimp out when confronted
it wasnt that he was just black & ignorant either, he had those goofy simpsons braids, a gold chain, covered in shitty tattoos, and was carrying his ammo and gun around in a knockoff designer bookbag, looked like someone who was about to have a nigga moment
it made the range also just fucking obnoxious with how loud it was and he ignorant he was acting, just wasnt fun. i was on edge when i saw him walk up.

Yeah I think they have an article somewhere stating which parts on the DWX are compatible. The safeties sadly aren't and they're my biggest complaint. They are so low on the gun compared to other guns just based on how I grip the gun. The Atlas safeties would be great if they fit.

DW almost did something cool that 2011s didn't do. They have a FCU, it's just that all the fire control units interface with the frame likely to maintain straightness of the pins and firing components.

Seek out autism books rather than picture books. Picture books can have some blurbs too. I can't give titles for those but there MUST be a number of technical/historical books on pre-Exeter Sig and certainly of Glock. I can only name a couple for Walther. Walther a German Legend by Manfred Kersten is a full history of the company from Model 1 through P99 with wonderfully expounded descriptions and images of the history of each pistol, and Walther Pistols by Dieter Marschall is essentially a dry summary of every pistol Walther made.

The Glock: Rise of America's Gun one is really bad. It's written by a libtard Bloomberg reporter who sought to fill it up with salacious lies and half-truths, which is his MO, if you look at his other works. It just talks about how Gaston's underlings would wine and dine people with trips to strip clubs and shit. It doesn't actually talk much about the gun or company itself.

If you want to actually learn about the engineering and design processes of the guns and companies themselves, you'll have to look elsewhere.

I'm at a crossroads, can someone with experience steer me right? I'm 2 cans deep into the suppressor game and my next stop is I want to suppress one of my pistolas. Problem is, none of my current semi-autos have threaded barrels. Out of this list, which would be the best suppressor host?
>G23 with 9MM conversion barrel
>MP40 with 9MM conversion barrel
(Yes I got into collection when 40 was the caliber of choice.)
>Sig226
>M92fs
I'm thinking the 226 or 92 since they're native 9's, but wtf do I know?

Are any of the guns optic mount
>>
>>64957488
No, but I'm fine without pistol dots. I haven't bought a new pistol in several years desu. The 226 is my newest one, and it was a PD trade in.
>>
>>64957416
Best "host" would be the beretta with an OEM threaded barrel. It would be the one that performs the best with a supressor and would need less tuning or parts replacement.
the "real" best would be to buy a new glock 19/49/etc. with a threaded barrel simply for the compatibility with a nielsen device and spring/parts availability in case you need to fine tune it to work, optic mount options, and longer suppressor height sights.

The "worst" in your list would be the sig226 because it will simply be harder to buy a proper threaded barrel and compatible parts, or you overpay over a thousand dollars out your ass for a "legion" model meant to be suppressor-ready.

Also:
sell your glawk forties bro what the fuck are you doing.
>>
>>64957498
What about tall sights?
>>
>>64957501
I have have a 9mm conversion barrel in the G23 so I only ever run 9 through it anyways these days. It's a Gen 3, I wonder if it would be worth it to sell it and put the money towards a gen 6 g19? anyhow, thanks for the advice on the 226.
>>64957506
no, now that you mention it, I don't. they're all factory standard height.

fug, I may just ax this plan completely and plan to get a suppressor ready host in the future.

>>64957416
Boy I've been diverting people from Sig a lot lately, but P226 is not the best choice because more force from silencer will cause accelerated rail wear

I'd do the Glock with a 9mm barrel or 92FS imo. Problem with the 92 is the integral front sight, you can't get tall sights. But you could get the slide milled for an optic. The Glock you can get whatever you want especially tall sights, though tuning a .40 gun to work with a 9mm barrel and suppressor might take playing musical springs or something. It's harder to get tall sights for an M&P and may be hard to find a threaded barrel for the old slide. I do not know if the diameters are different, it's possible that would require a conversion barrel too.

You don't *NEED* tall sights, but they are a huge QOL improvement with silencers. Or an optic is even better.

So I'd say G23>92FS>P226>M&P, maybe even get the Glock slide milled for an optic for about $120 which is barely more than tall sights cost

You can pin on a taller sight for use with an adjustable rear. These are gunsmith install only as it slides onto the existing front sight and then two roll pins are drilled into sight to hold the taller sight

If it's not a J frame, smith revolvers are pretty much fine. If you want one of the New Mountain guns or Night Guards, they should be g2g, but I would skip the J frame unless you can handle it in person before you buy. LCR is just better anyway.

Ruger revolvers are generally G2G. They have a higher lemon rate than they used to, but their Customer service is a lot better than Smith so you should be fine if you do get a lemon. Definitely try to molest it before you buy though.

I see replacement parts but in the middle of a move so probably shouldn't have bought the thing to begin with but I wanted something in 22wmr since I was already buying the ammo. Would the mag catch or the feeding ramp be more likely to need replacing first?

Retard here. I lost the aerosol straw on my CLP so I essentially overlubed my slide and frame. It's been a week and it's still leaking oil from the back of the slide, the takedown lever, and the trigger. Is blasting the frame and slide (including the striker channel and the striker hole) with G96 Crud Buster a good idea?
>>
>>64958128
You could test the mag catch by manually holding the mag higher or lower and see if it makes a difference in reliability. If it's anything like my CP33 though there is zero room to move up past the catch

>>64958131
Nah just field strip it and wipe off what you can
>>
>>64958131
>striker channel and the striker hole
Since your gun is striker fired, it's likely trivial to disassemble to tiniest parts, please go ahead and do it. Striker channel should not have any oil in it.

>>64958131
If its a good striker design you probably can just shoot off the excess oil if you dont mind oily grime in your gun

Believe in yourself, or rather, after field stripping just go a step further and take off the back plate from the slide and pull out the striker assembly and whatever falls out. Then, pull pins that hold frame guts in the frame and lift them out as well. That will allow you access to wipe everything down with paper towels. You can roll paper towel into a dowel and twist it into the striker channel, so you leave it dry. Then add a bit of lube on rails and barrel where it contacts slide. That's basically the second half of "cleaning gun" with the first half being spraying foaming CLP all over it.

This thread is perfect evidence that hardly anyone that posts in this dump knows the first fucking thing about firearms beyond what they've read on the fucking internet. Thread starts about handgun malfunctions, specifically extraction jams. It takes 50 posts for anyone to mention ammunition and less than a half dozen talk about ammo at all. The hilarious thing is unless you've got a clapped-out piece of shit, or it's abso-fucking-lutely brand new out of the box, a slide jam is 99.99% going to be caused by the ammunition you're trying to feed it. Either cheap shit you bought from some thirdie importer, or hollow-points, or some other stupid choice you made. If you have feed problems with the factory recommended hardball loads, there is something wrong with the weapon. If not, it's the shit-slop you're trying to feed it. Are you fucking retarded? For real. How much of an "actually" scrawny little pale don't venture out of the basement cocksuckers are you.
The 1911 is one of the easiest guns to shoot well with. It's basic, simplistic and very easy to learn it's breakdown.
You have to have extra chromosomes and no dad at home to think it's even remotely overwhelming.
Fuck you. For all the world, fuck you faggot.

First gun as in very first gun, or first .45 ACP? USP's probably the "safest" bet, the 1911 market is wide and has a lot of variants (and fuddlore to muddy discussion) so it's kinda hard recommending a specific one. HK has maybe three real choices to make (full size or compact, threaded or non threaded, DA/SA or LEM) and are made to HK's German autism standards. P220's also probably fine but I don't own any Sigs.

Try at least two of them before picking. Handguns tend to be very personal preference based. For instance I'd completely skip on the USP because I don't like the size of the slide release lever. Out of those options I'd go 1911 or 220 depending on which one you shoot better and whether you care about cocked and locked vs da/sa. Also I'd politely suggest giving the G21 gen 5 a try but reading between the lines it looks like you might be looking for metal frame only.

“Accepted” for service, somewhere. It’s seen as a badge of reliability.

The 1911 in the year of 1911 went 6000 rounds without a malfunction or stoppage, but those were guns were built by JMB himself. People seem to forget the 1911 served the U.S. Military for like 80 years and won more medals of honor (citation calls out the 1911) than any other firearm.

The whole gun market now revolves around a 5-8 year cycle of some current event sending a lot of normalfags running to stores to buy their first gun. This wave soon overwhelms online discussions, resets the general experience level closer to zero, and it creates the perfect situation to sell overpriced shit or pure garbage to people who don't know any better. It doesn't help that every mainstream website encourages a decline of long-term wisdom when they can have the same noob questions get asked every day to be answered with the parroted responses of last year's noobs.

>>64959446
You’d have to give a price point, there’s Ruger commanders. I don’t recommend the Springfield Garrison Commanders concept they use ramped barrels for .45, I would assume they’re fine for 9mm. Best bet IMO is a used gun since you can snag a “higher” end 1911 for like 2/3 or 1/2 MSRP.

Ambi safety is becoming standard because of wrong handed people and faggot ass competitions having non-dominate hand stages, so it’s best to learn how to fit your own safety (it’s actually really easy).
>>
>>64959527
I’ve had this in my watch list forever. I’ll never buy it but it’s a beautiful combination, it’s a stainless steel Essex frame with a blued Colt Combat Commander .45 slide

Which is what? Talking too much.

It could be a combination of the rolling trigger break of double action and the nature of holding tension on a double action trigger giving you an additional finger's worth of steadying grip on the gun. At least for a few seconds.

/hg/, is there anything I'm missing if I don't have a Glock? I already own a few different handguns in the popular calibers (one .22, two 9mm, two .45), so apart from probably the best aftermarket for any modern gun is there anything I'd really gain from owning one? I'll probably pick up a Gen 5 19X since I actually don't mind how a vanilla G19 shoots and I wish they picked it over the M17/M18, but that's on my "eventually" list instead of my "probably my next purchase" list..

hell, if you only have a glock then you're missing out on better shit like a PDP or VP9
still, you can always just buy a glock, theres a whole bunch to cover what you might be missing in your collection, like a glock 40 for an outdoors 10mm or a glock 43x/46 if you dont have a p365 especially once the high capacity mags drop.

You’re getting a fatter, less carryable Glock with more felt recoil, but with a crisper trigger and nicer grip texture. You’re going to swear up and down to yourself and others it’s “better” than a Glock, but you’ll still wonder why people win Area/National shoots with Glocks, and there’s curiously few PDPs.
>>
>>64959934

Best 17 they've made, even if it looks a bit off.

>recoil is softer than any previous gen
>accurate for a factory Glock

>removing the new extractor feels like you're breaking the gun and requires a mildly-specific tool

If you want a fun striker gun for the range, the PDP is a great choice.
>>
>>64960470
its a striker fired duty gun its going to be basically glawk with different ergos and a better trigger but snappier recoil (the zr tactical guiderods can mitigate that as a $60 upgrade.) The holosun SCS is the only (good) optic that direct mounts to the cut (and it comes in green only for the walther cut) otherwise just spend get a plate and an EPS if youre using it as a carry gun (irons would probably be fine anyway but optics make taking it to the range a hell of a lot more pleasant)
be warned the pdp is fucking huge esp with a light and i only find it carryable because im literally 6'3" and even then i mostly keep it as a HD gun

As always, the gimped gaming laptop you can bring is better than the battlestation you left at home if you absolutely have to game outside of your house.

How big of a deal is the worry of damaging an old blued classic through wear, vs getting a clone that I can “use an abuse” more?
This listing for a HP already has some upgrades put into it, but I could get a cerakoted SA-35 for much less. However, I would still need to buy upgrades for it myself (like for the safety and some springs)
The Springfield has some modernizations but I have been told about the sharp edges on it

is this German autism?
>>
>>64962896
Basically, but in typical German fashion it's functional.
>list all your different variants in bold
>all your subvariants get their own UPC/ID number
>complete description of what makes this subvariant different from another
>autistic spreadsheet for maximum information in least amount of clicks/bullshit to click through (in comparison, Beretta makes you click dropdowns for caliber choice and mag capacity, with the price and UPC updating in real time based on your choices
>alternating rows are colored differently for maximum legibility
It's autistic, but in a pre-dotcom bubble way of peak office efficiency instead of shitty web UI that does nothing look "pretty" (based on the standard of whatever fad design trend is currently popular)
>>
>>64962940
Yeah a chart/table is vastly superior to modern web design which is total dogshit and whoever puts these infinite scrolling, vanishing dropdown websites together should be deported to the worst corners of africa.

Well lucky me I am also an enourmous 6'3" mongoloid so I can stuff whatever I want in my pants and it'll hide well enough. I'll figure out a holster setup that works. I'll have a look at what RDS dont turn into an unusable Starburst and if green seems to mostly fix it ill probably use that scs sight.

oh yeah and make sure to take the optic cover plate off and see what cut you have before ordering a dot, models from mid-2022 and onward have an improved cut because LEO customers wanted compatibility with the ACRO. The SCS-PDP only works with the newer guns

I fucking hate the huge ass hunk of plastic at the bottom of Sig grips. Viciously ugly design. The magazine is just swimming in a pool of plastic. Doesn't even look like it's seated properly, the way it juts out.

Do you guys bother with mag extensions? Bought used mec gars for my 229 and they all have +2 extensions. I sometimes hear about people having issues with extensions.
>>
>>64964002
They’re standard operating procedure for competition, but I don’t bother with them outside of that.

Here, you can get this for cheaper than either and have the option of a rail and or optic cut.
https://gun.deals/catalog/343106/girsan-mc-p35

Then get this for reliability.

If you want a carry piece get a beater that you don't mind adding a few (more) dents and scratches on, and customize to your liking.
If you want an investment keep things as original as possible (use Apex or Numrich to get OE parts for a restoration project) and enjoy holding that safe queen till you die and it's auctioned off ig

Other than 2 WWII Walther P38s I have a Beretta APX and Sig P365X. I'm looking for a home defense/target/range pistol with an external safety or a one and done pistol like a G19 type. I can get a bit of a deal from Walther on PDPs. Any suggestions to help lead me to a decision? I'm in a state where I can get pretty much anything, but a plus would be something where I could get 10 or 15 round mags considering the other states I go to.

>>64964213
Also looking to use my Surefire X300U with it. Might mount a red dot as well.
>>
>>64964213
Honestly the m9a4 should be taken into consideration especially with their current rebate. Also look into the Walther PDP
>>
>>64964245
you're probably right. i appreciate your input. thank you.

Anyone else find it weird that HK still hasn't included optics cut slides yet? With how early they were with their rail system it feels odd that they haven't thrown in their lot with some mount/cut standard.
>>
>>64964316
What? I guess they weren't that relevant for a while but I still distinctly remember seeing some of their guns with optics mounted flicker about here and there
>>
>>64964338
My bad, I forgot the VP9 and CC9 existed. Would be nice if they "refreshed" their older guns to sell models with precut slides but that's not going to happen.
>>
>>64964002
MecGar +2 extensions are fine, it’s when you go +4 or +7 do things get fucky
>>
>>64964427
Have siggers never developed the longer aftermarket magazine spring technology?

>>64964373

>>
>>64964373
People buy the old HK shit for the old aesthetics and custom milling services already fill that niche. Unless some country really wanted USPs with optics on them I doubt HK would give enough of a shit about civilians to even bother.

Man, if mag bans are lifted nationwide I'll have no autism reasons left to carry .45 instead of 9. But that and cross-state constitutional carry would be cool and nothing cool ever happens, so I don't want to get my hopes up.
